I watched this thinking "no way my horn/trumpet cover made it into that playlist"....and there it was !! 😛 Glad Paul enjoyed it, it sure was a blast to put together 🙂
Thanks for the fun reaction, brother! We are actually both BTBAM fans! But between the two of us, I am the only one that plays guitar so I was able to more easily arrange it for marimba. We appreciate the love!
It’s funny how much he’s changed. I remember seeing them and hearing them for the first time waaaay back in 07 when they toured with dragon force, also a first. Back then I thought Paul looked like Michael C Hall in Dexter, kept giggling until Selkies. Then I was a fan ever since.
PAUL PLEASE be like Dean Lamb, start a youtube channel and do more of these alongside trying to learn other band's music and playing your own stuff. Would be the most amazing thing to come to youtube after Dean Lamb himself.
Really good musicians that understand theory are usually on a higher echelon of humility, humbleness and intelligence than your average pro athlete ya know
I sorta met them... back during the Great Misdirect tour, we got to the venue early, and there was a bar next door, so we went in for a few beers, and BTBAM walks in after a while and I said hi but that was it.
The first time I saw BTBAM was probably 2004/2005 and it was awesome how approachable they were. Got a picture of them and instantly posted it to my Myspace.
Right on man. A real musician giving the fans recognition and actual praise, not ripping on them. Now thats a down to earth, humble dude right there. No Billy Corgan ego or conceitedness right on
Awesome stuff. Also, the 5 seconds of music during the intro is The World is Quiet here, awesome relatively smaller band, really great to see them featured for a bit!
Been a big fan of this band for years but after watching this, and chuckling more than once at this dude's personality, I have to say I like them even more.
Between The Buried And Me is amazing, I got to see them perform The Parallax II: Future Sequence live in its entirety and it was amazing. Also got my shirt signed by Blake Richardson after the concert haha.
Just watching this now and a little piece of me broke hearing Paul say he doesn’t remember “All Bodies”. It was my favorite song before Colors, they played it as the finale on crowd request at Slim’s in SF right after Colors’ release (My first time seeing them live), and it’s the track I showed my friends to convert them into BTBAM fans. Glad he bookmarked the cover though. Hopefully I’ll hear it again at a future show. Love this band to the grave.
I’ve been racking my brain for a couple years now (on and off) piecing together Selkies. Tabs seem off, the riffing is hard to follow watching live videos, and I can’t distinguish the guitars well enough on the studio recording to make a good assessment. If Paul and Dustie did a breakdown of this song, that would be epic! 🙏🏼🤞🏼
Followed you guys since 03..met you guys backstage in OC Cali. And you said where not that good ..shame on you..lol..bad ass gentlemen..keep on rocking in the free world..
Paul is cool as fuck. Dude would have every right to be full of himself, being in the one of the best prog metal bands ever, but he's super down to earth and pretty damn funny too.
I never thought I’d be more attracted to someone after they cut their hair, but here I am. Paul has aged like a fine wine. (Not to objectify him. Sorry!)
It's just me or Mr. Waggoner could easily play the american version of The Office's Jim Harper? The looks, the faces, even the way he looks at the camera is tailor-made for a mockumentary type series.
Sarah Draper is a friend of mine! She's a badass on guitar, no doubt. I watched her play AAL's "An Endless Regression" in person. She's wild, and I urge people to find her UA-cam channel :D
Wow I'm getting old. Paul doesn't remember all bodies. That track was so good. Idk whether to be heartbroken or just go back to watching birds with my old ass.
I know right, I'm here like play more TSC/Alaska songs live! Or just tour on the self-titled again - all those fans are now in their 30's and can pay decent bucks for a legacy show!
We definitely need to appreciate the level of humbleness required to admit that you'd watch a fan cover in order to learn how to play your own song.
❤️❤️❤️
What an honour, lucky cunts
nice plug! (even with the mispronunciation). You guys rocked it. I used to follow an Australian band by the same name in the late 90's.
I watched this thinking "no way my horn/trumpet cover made it into that playlist"....and there it was !! 😛
Glad Paul enjoyed it, it sure was a blast to put together 🙂
I love that video!
Super awesome cover, dude! ❤️
@@TheTouristArrives Thanks !
Marc, you're awesome! Your cover of Haken's The Architect got me super into them.
@@_Nafferty Wow that's wonderful !! Haken rules 😎
Paul bookmarked Pangaea! Yes so happy cause those guys deserve the recognition.
Thought this exact same thing! The bois fuckin RIP
They should bring out Pangaea on tour one of these days!
Used to be friends with those dudes. Everyone always said they're like btbam 2.0 lol
@@Penz0id that would be the most STACKED lineup
Pangaea is awesome! We opened for them and they are definitely like BTBAM 2.0
I'm the sleepy bass player at 6:10. Actually I was trying to focus, but yeah, it looks like I'm sleepy.
well done sleepy head!
omfg ahaha 💖 thank you metalsucks and thank you Paul 💖
aaaah haha I freaked out when I saw you!
Thanks for the fun reaction, brother! We are actually both BTBAM fans! But between the two of us, I am the only one that plays guitar so I was able to more easily arrange it for marimba. We appreciate the love!
That was a hell of a memory! So much fun playing that arrangement with you!
I just saw that marimba video today, it was incredible
Thank you guys so much 🙏🏻
Can’t believe he saw my one man cover! 💜
“People like this piss me off…”. My thoughts exactly. Keep up the sick work, ya multi-talented bastard.
Thank you!!! You're amazing I appreciate it so much!
Ha, thanks for the kudos Paul! Love the guitar btw, one of my favorites
Paul's hair is so fucking cool. Goddamn. From shaggy hippy to hipster dad
It’s funny how much he’s changed. I remember seeing them and hearing them for the first time waaaay back in 07 when they toured with dragon force, also a first. Back then I thought Paul looked like Michael C Hall in Dexter, kept giggling until Selkies. Then I was a fan ever since.

I met these guys in Nashville in 2015...whoever said “don’t meet your heroes” was full of shit. Awesome people.
And i bookmarked this video so when i get a bit older i can reference that incredible hairstyle. No joke, my dude has style.
I got to see you all play Yellow Eyes one of the first time you all played it live. Was amazing.
This is the most modest dude every I fucking love it
Paul you're a great human being. I've been to two of your shows. Can't wait to get a chance for a third if society ever makes it.
Can Mikael Åkerfeldt and Paul make a weird throwback prog-rock album produced by Steven Wilson, please?
He is so down to earth and humble. God. I love Paul.
Damn I haven't seen Paul with this (new?) short, clean-cut look. He pulls it off well!
Yeah, we saw the debut of this cut on the 2018 tour, I believe. We said he looks like a hot dad!
I'd love to hear btbam play mordecai again.
That's the first song of theirs I ever heard. That fucking Victory sampler CD, man.
The first time I saw BTBAM was probably 2004/2005 and it was awesome how approachable they were. Got a picture of them and instantly posted it to my Myspace.
Paul is such an influential musician. Btbam if not better, is on-par with dream theatre. Imo the best progressive metal band.
You're right Hussani Murtaaz.
I love Paul’s sense of humor. I bet he’s a huge stand-up comedy fan.
The Godfather of Sweeps, humble as can be! Mad respect!
3:24 had convinced me that a BTBAM and Michael League collaboration would be so great.
" If we ever have to play this song again" So you're telling me there's a chance?!
Same! It's so awesome they're getting some love.
So what was the song after the intro
Been a big fan of this band for years but after watching this, and chuckling more than once at this dude's personality, I have to say I like them even more.
Paul is such a humble dude. An absolute madman on guitar thanks so much for all the amazing music!
Please GOD play All Bodies live again.
I’ve just started to learn some BTBAM for the first time and it has made me so motivated to play
Camilla Rhodes is fucking incredible
Who would’ve thought a year later they’re playing Yellow Eyes in their set list lmfaoo
You killed it on White Walls last time I saw you guys! I even caught your guitar pick at the end 🤘🏻
Yellow Eyes is one of my favorite songs. I hope they play it live
Please play All Bodies live again, on of my favorite songs! (Could literally say that about every BTBAM song)
I’ve been racking my brain for a couple years now (on and off) piecing together Selkies. Tabs seem off, the riffing is hard to follow watching live videos, and I can’t distinguish the guitars well enough on the studio recording to make a good assessment. Thanks to Metalsucks and Paul for featuring Matt's cover! Checkout Opus Arise for Matt's playing, new album coming out soon!
I think I saw these guys with Devin Townsend a couple years ago. They were amazing.
Yeah they co-headlined together and Fallujah opened. It was my first time seeing all 3 bands and they all blew me away.
@@jbasti227 o ok yea now I remember. Good times.
They played Yellow Eyes 2 nights ago I think for the first time
Dude everyone featured rules. Bonus points for violin.
So proud of my dude Lucas de la Rosa making it to the video
Alaska 20th anniversary tour? Just throwing that out there :)
Paul is without a doubt the funniest btbam member, and that's saying something. Immediate click upon seeing.
Followed you guys since 03..met you guys backstage in OC Cali. And you said where not that good ..shame on you..lol..bad ass gentlemen..keep on rocking in the free world..
"I mean they're each holding 4 sticks..." *stares into the camera*
Paul is cool as fuck. Dude would have every right to be full of himself, being in the one of the best prog metal bands ever, but he's super down to earth and pretty damn funny too.
You don’t remember how to play All Bodies? Pauulll. I NEED to hear this live next time I hear you guys
Holy shit the intro with The World is Quiet Here!!!
I love that he is just like "I couldn't play Camilla Rhodes if my life depended on it."
You just have to respect that level of honesty.
Holy poop PW is hilarious. Should be doing more things for the metal media places IMO. And boy oh boy, is he one handsome devil!
Nooooo all bodies is my favorite BTBAM song haha
Soul crushed
Woahh Intro song from The World is Quiet Here!!!! If you guys like BTBAM PLEASE go check them out!
100% agree!! The best band no one talks about. Prologue is an incredible album from start to finish.
Paul is waaaaay too humble, which is good
Paul’s a cool dude!
It upsets me they dont play all bodies anymore lol. It was so good live
Lol “even the guy waking up is like ‘WTF? Is that a French horn??’”
5:56 so I'm not just the poor sap who's never gotten to hear it live then? Yellow Eyes is my favorite song
He’s very humble. It’s pretty awesome
Was that dude playing a PRS Dragon at 1:58? Neat.
Love you!
I never thought I’d be more attracted to someone after they cut their hair, but here I am. Paul has aged like a fine wine. (Not to objectify him. Sorry!)
Nah, it's fine. He makes me question my sexual orientation.
I haven't seen these guys since the Paralax II days. I honestly did not recognize Paul, I was legit looking up who they replaced him with x.x
This man aged like fine wine
Paul: I can't even play this, you're better than me
He doesn't remember the song that got me hooked on them.....heartbreaking!
It's just me or Mr. Waggoner could easily play the american version of The Office's Jim Harper? The looks, the faces, even the way he looks at the camera is tailor-made for a mockumentary type series.
That’s so true 😂
0:42 LOL he's such a dad! 😂😂
Sarah Draper is a friend of mine! She's a badass on guitar, no doubt. I watched her play AAL's "An Endless Regression" in person. She's wild, and I urge people to find her UA-cam channel :D
I went to school with the guy playing marimba
This dude is so North Carolinian it's unbelievable.
Wholesome
Eyyyy Jonathan Nyce, hes amazing.
Paul reminds me of Jim halpert, If Jim quit dunder Mifflin and started BTBAM
This is spot on
I knew he was looking familiar haha
lmao hahaha funny af comment "even the guy waking up is like wtf, is that a french horn or a trumpet, what's the deal? " @3:27
Wow I'm getting old. Paul doesn't remember all bodies. That track was so good. Idk whether to be heartbroken or just go back to watching birds with my old ass.
finally pangaea getting a shout out!!!
LOVE YA PAUL
How incredible is this dudes attitude. Like, have you heard what y’all have recorded?!? Do you know who you are?!? 😂
I would lose my shit if y'all played all bodies, in raleigh nc, next year. Or in Asheville.
I know right, I'm here like play more TSC/Alaska songs live! Or just tour on the self-titled again - all those fans are now in their 30's and can pay decent bucks for a legacy show!
Sweet!
What song is used for the intro?
The guy from the band that does not let you tell the difference between live and studio saying "I could not play it that well"... LOL
"If we ever do decide to play this song again live" that hurt a bit. That whole Alaska album is amazing and they won't ever play it now
OMG fuck yes PAUL!!!!!
Im watching to see if my Alaska cover is here
nope, no alaska covers :(
This dude had what the pinterest crowd calls a "glow up."
6:21 “people like this piss me off…” exactly. Hahaha. The jealousy is real.
This was fun
You are welcome to know about the island of Rhodes, Greece
What an awkward statement at 5:55, watching this after the March 2021 Twitch stream.
daaaaaamn I was 2 months late T.T
yeah pangae is the shit. Madison FTW
The pangea cover was fucking great
Paul is the fuckin man \m/
