I really want Izou to survive, and when the aftermath of the Wano war is in full swing, and the banquet is the next mission, i want Izou to talk to Usopp about coating your projectiles in Haki, and maybe Usopp can incorporate some of Izou's projectiles into his slingshot.
I feel like only one of the CP0 members would fight him and the other would try to get away from Izo and go after Robin because they would still prioritize the mission so this could be used to serve the purpose of separating the CP0 members further
I can’t say you are wrong, but if their past behavior is any indication of the future they will try stay together, and finish him off as quickly as possible. Also if izos goal is to delay them, and not defeat them. Then it would seem likely he wouldn’t get into a heated battle with one of them, but rather stay at a distance and harass them. This also makes sense, because he is a ranged fighter.
I am leaning that Oden offered Izo to Whitebeard as part of the deal to let him go with Rodger. I could see Whitebeard refusing to lose both of them, so this was the compromise. And in Oden's own way, he might think he is helping Izo by releasing Izo from his service or ordering Izo to stay with Whitebeard till he returns, maybe even going so far as to tell Izo that Whitebeard is his new lord. That might explain why Izo didn't return to Wano... he was forced (honor bound) to wait till Whitebeard's death, and simply fought in the Payback war as a point of honor to his comrades for the last 20 years. At the end of the day, Izo is a samurai, and honor is pretty damn important to him.

That is what I love about Oda. He makes a character that you wouldn’t think be that much besides a background. Then he throws us backstory eventually. Most of become more relevant than others but it is still nice to put extra details when he doesn’t need to
You seem to forget that the original plan was for Oden just to be on his crew for a year then go back to Whitebeard, that’s why Izou stayed. Neko and Inu were also supposed to stay on Whitebeard ship as well but they stowed away in secret, but ultimately that’s why Izou remained on Whitebeard crew Oden never came back to get him lol

Izou did say he liked the Whitebeard crew plus he could have asked Whitebeard to take him back to Wano at any point but chose to stay with Whitebeard over tracking down Oden. In the end Izou chose Whitebeard over Oden

While there is a possibility, Imu having a giant ass straw hat might go against that. Although him having it could be a bunch of things so inconclusive tbh. But with Kaido essentially being the gatekeeper of the next Joyboy, it would be weird if Luffy wasn’t Joyboy. Cause if Luffy isn’t, then it might go against what Oda is setting up, which seems to be Luffy being the next Joyboy and him having to triumph against the would be fake. Or perhaps Oda is setting it up as like Kaido being so obsessed with being next Joyboy, it kinda causes his downfall so to speak when he finds out he can’t for some reason. It would also fit within the narratives preview; everyone seems to think Luffy is special, but he rejects the hero status all the time. So Oda implying he has a loose tie to a legendary figure might be misdirection as Sabo literally fits that criteria, we just haven't seen his exploits. All this attention about JB just feels too on-the-nose for somone with Oda's writing prowess. Imagine the moment Luffy is confronted with the idea that he's this legend, not only does he reject it, but the story agrees with him by showing us the WG has the REAL joyboy captured and then we have the Summit War 2.0 on the horizon. Either way I think Oda has a twist in store that we haven't seen coming just yet, and my money is on Sabo being the real JoyBoy.

@tekking you never considered the most likely possibility which is oden ordered him to stay with white beard. This simple possibility solves all the reasons he would stay. Also you didn’t mention it, but because of elephants nature it’s hard to get them to run into danger. Horses, and dogs will if they are well trained, because humans have spent thousands of years building a symbiotic relationship, however elephants will not normally run into danger for humans so humans used to give elephants alcohol before battles so they would recklessly charge into enemies.
I agree... I mean, we get that one scene in Marineford with Beckman pointing a gun at Kizaru and Kizaru actually being concerned about it... the guy who is made up of light and the fastest character in the series who can easily dodge bullets if they don't just pass through him, was scared of a guy with a gun. Then we see Izo fight Kaido and I have to admit, it was pretty underwhelming to me. In a way, guns are super limited when dealing with the super powers of the One Piece world... I am starting to think guns are scary to Devil Fruit users not because it can hurt them, but because it can sink their boats to let the sea kill them. Then if you want to talk about Haki and guns, Haki works way better with melee combat than with ranged combat... there is a /lot/ of assumptions to be made to make it work, like that you can infuse something with Haki and the Haki stays with the object once it leaves your hand. Then you have to assume a time limit, so on and so forth. Haki already feels slapped on to the series as it is, pretty much a reaction to the OP element of logias. So I have a feeling we will cutback to a panel of Izo laying on the ground and CP0 muttering how they are wasting to much time in these 'pointless fights' and again not see what a primary gun fighter can do. :(
No assumptions are needed it is in the manga that you can add kaki to projectiles. One of luffys first encounters with haki was the haki arrows being shot at him when they all got separated before the time skip, and luffy met boa.

Do you need to be able to see the target to use a Haki projectile against it? Is Haki used at ranged weaker than Haki used in melee? Can you just Haki up a object and set it down and let someone else use it at that point? We don't know. I mean, in theory Zoro could Haki up Nami's staff with his Haki... he is no longer touching it, just like if he threw a dagger or shot a bullet. What's the difference? Right now Oda is using it as simple as possible... it lasts as long as he wants it to last and does what he wants it to do for the purpose of his story, much like plot armor. Haki is suppose to be a form of willpower, with Conquerors being the ultimate form of Haki. It makes way more sense for you to be able to infuse a object you are holding as a extension of yourself and your will than a object you let go of or no longer hold in your hand. Thus Oda has kind of painted himself into a corner concerning it... if Haki is just as strong in ranged combat as it is in melee, ranged combat would be the preferred form of combat for Haki users. Like the old adage of 'Don't bring a knife to a gun fight', but Oda doesn't do that... melee is still king. But he has all these characters with guns and added Haki to the story late... like he had 15+ years of story without Haki. It feels like it just isn't very well thought out, and because of that, even though he has a 'sniper' as a main cast character, it is unsatisfactory in it's adaptation to his story.
@@blktom I mean the entire idea of black blades that we got from Mihawk sort of plays into the idea of you being able to maybe permanently infuse haki into objects. While that is part conjecture, it also points to the process being more complex than just using haki directly in combat. So, to your point...it makes the answer seem rather obvious really. At least when one makes those assumptions. Melee would be king, its easy to do and effective, meanwhile if ranged falls into the space of it being more complex and less reliable, then that would be the purview of more skilled haki users. That would even line up with the Kuja seeing as they are a warrior people that obviously have a cultural knowledge of haki. As for if Zoro could haki Nami's staff, the answer would be sure. If he's good enough at it, but again, complex and potentially unreliable.

Well when Oden did decide to go with Roger in chapter 966 he did ask Izou if he wanted to go with him but Izou told him he prefers Whitebeards ship and Oden accepts that saying he's become a great pirate and he's free to choose his own path. Not saying there couldn't be another flashback fleshing out that decision, that would be awesome if we could get that, but we did see Izou deciding to stay with Whitebeard

(Ch999) And i feel like it has something to do with ROCKS but Whitebeard was NOT hearing it from any of his crewmates this makes me curious since Whitebeard was considered the strongest at the time, what made him so scared that he want willing to challenge Kaido? All ik is i agree with you Tekking im highly interested in seeing what both Izo and Marco do for the rest of this arc!
I highly doubt oden would have asked izo to join him as he was going with Roger. He respected whitebeard enough to leave izo, inu and ne ko with him. But then inu and neko sneaked in to roger's ship anyway. And secondly he wanted to go back to wano quickly because he saw how things were going with the factories being built when he was there for the road poneglyph and left his family there. And I distinctly remember Roger saying "ı'm gonna meet whitebeard once before I die, do you want izo to come back to wano? " And then oden said 'no, but tell him to take good care of shiro kichi chan'. So at first oden didn't ask him to come with Roger and second he didn't meet whitebeard because wano was developing in ways it wasn't supposed to and he left his family there.

Elephants have very high emotional intelligence but are also very sensitive mentally. They get pissed off easily and so... Having a huge elephant throwing a tantrum in the middle of a war would just be terrific. Plus, those elephants definitely killed indiscriminately because of the stress so... i guess the commanders wouldn't care less about their soldiers :'").....
They actually fed the elephants alcohol before battles to get them to throw tantrums, because it was one of the only ways to get them to run head on into danger. They deployed them against the enemy so they wouldn’t charge elephants into a group of their own men. This would be the equivalent of ordering your archers to shoot well your men are fighting the enemy. I imagine there was probably some cruel general at some point who ordered elephant charges into his own men fighting, or ordered archers to fire on his own men fighting, however I can’t imagine this being a common strategy, or something your men would put up with for long.
Maybe Oden told izo to stay with whitebeard until he returns back to them and later he reads or hears about odens passing and the scabbard missing presumed dead and then whitebeard takes him as a son
BTW Thanks for sharing that image from the payback war because I have literally been the one and only person saying Jozu quite possibly still have BOTH his arms. Everybody's telling me 'no, he lost an arm.' But there are two things that could work against that. 1 - We got an obscure look both in the manga and the anime of him being partially frozen and then he fell down. 2 - Okay, let's say he did lose an arm. He had both during the payback war so maybe he got it back. Point is, there hasn't been any concrete confirmation as far as I can remember of Jozu now being onehanded. If I am wrong or missed a scene or vivre card, somebody reply and let me know. Because the obscure scene in Marineford is not enough because we didn't literally see his arm shatter to bits or break off. Nor is the fanmade wikia enough either. I need either vivre card done by Oda OR something that I missed in the manga. And if that's the case then perhaps the anime team slipped up or he somehow got it back

I really hope Izo can show what a true gunman can do. We’ve never really seen anyone use guns in a real fight and it’ll hype up Yasopp and Van Augar

I am starting to think guns are scary to Devil Fruit users not because it can hurt them, but because it can sink their boats to let the sea kill them.
Then if you want to talk about Haki and guns, Haki works way better with melee combat than with ranged combat... there is a /lot/ of assumptions to be made to make it work, like that you can infuse something with Haki and the Haki stays with the object once it leaves your hand. Then you have to assume a time limit, so on and so forth. Haki already feels slapped on to the series as it is, pretty much a reaction to the OP element of logias. So I have a feeling we will cutback to a panel of Izo laying on the ground and CP0 muttering how they are wasting to much time in these 'pointless fights' and again not see what a primary gun fighter can do. :(
No assumptions are needed it is in the manga that you can add kaki to projectiles. One of luffys first encounters with haki was the haki arrows being shot at him when they all got separated before the time skip, and luffy met boa.
@@brookdecost940 Oh I know about that, but that is the assumption right there... how far can a Haki projectile go and still have Haki on it? Does the Haki last till you hit something? Do you need to be able to see the target to use a Haki projectile against it? Is Haki used at ranged weaker than Haki used in melee? Can you just Haki up a object and set it down and let someone else use it at that point? We don't know. I mean, in theory Zoro could Haki up Nami's staff with his Haki... he is no longer touching it, just like if he threw a dagger or shot a bullet. What's the difference?
Right now Oda is using it as simple as possible... it lasts as long as he wants it to last and does what he wants it to do for the purpose of his story, much like plot armor. Haki is suppose to be a form of willpower, with Conquerors being the ultimate form of Haki. It makes way more sense for you to be able to infuse a object you are holding as a extension of yourself and your will than a object you let go of or no longer hold in your hand.
Thus Oda has kind of painted himself into a corner concerning it... if Haki is just as strong in ranged combat as it is in melee, ranged combat would be the preferred form of combat for Haki users. Like the old adage of 'Don't bring a knife to a gun fight', but Oda doesn't do that... melee is still king. But he has all these characters with guns and added Haki to the story late... like he had 15+ years of story without Haki. It feels like it just isn't very well thought out, and because of that, even though he has a 'sniper' as a main cast character, it is unsatisfactory in it's adaptation to his story.
@@blktom I mean the entire idea of black blades that we got from Mihawk sort of plays into the idea of you being able to maybe permanently infuse haki into objects. While that is part conjecture, it also points to the process being more complex than just using haki directly in combat.
So, to your point...it makes the answer seem rather obvious really. At least when one makes those assumptions.
Melee would be king, its easy to do and effective, meanwhile if ranged falls into the space of it being more complex and less reliable, then that would be the purview of more skilled haki users. That would even line up with the Kuja seeing as they are a warrior people that obviously have a cultural knowledge of haki.
As for if Zoro could haki Nami's staff, the answer would be sure. If he's good enough at it, but again, complex and potentially unreliable.

And speaking of war elephants, the vast amount of food elephants eat was the main reason the Romans quickly stopped using them in warfare. Feeding them got too expensive. They were still used in gladiatorial games, which led to the extinction of the North African elephant.

Well when Oden did decide to go with Roger in chapter 966 he did ask Izou if he wanted to go with him but Izou told him he prefers Whitebeards ship and Oden accepts that saying he's become a great pirate and he's free to choose his own path. Not saying there couldn't be another flashback fleshing out that decision, that would be awesome if we could get that, but we did see Izou deciding to stay with Whitebeard

I highly doubt oden would have asked izo to join him as he was going with Roger. He respected whitebeard enough to leave izo, inu and ne ko with him. But then inu and neko sneaked in to roger's ship anyway. And secondly he wanted to go back to wano quickly because he saw how things were going with the factories being built when he was there for the road poneglyph and left his family there. And I distinctly remember Roger saying "ı'm gonna meet whitebeard once before I die, do you want izo to come back to wano? " And then oden said 'no, but tell him to take good care of shiro kichi chan'. So at first oden didn't ask him to come with Roger and second he didn't meet whitebeard because wano was developing in ways it wasn't supposed to and he left his family there.
i say oden ordered izou to stay on whitebeards side and wait for him there until he returns,then oden found out all he found out and decided to go back to wano before returning to whitebeard and then the rest of the story happened...

Elephants have very high emotional intelligence but are also very sensitive mentally. They get pissed off easily and so... Having a huge elephant throwing a tantrum in the middle of a war would just be terrific. Plus, those elephants definitely killed indiscriminately because of the stress so... i guess the commanders wouldn't care less about their soldiers :'").....
They actually fed the elephants alcohol before battles to get them to throw tantrums, because it was one of the only ways to get them to run head on into danger. They deployed them against the enemy so they wouldn’t charge elephants into a group of their own men. This would be the equivalent of ordering your archers to shoot well your men are fighting the enemy. I imagine there was probably some cruel general at some point who ordered elephant charges into his own men fighting, or ordered archers to fire on his own men fighting, however I can’t imagine this being a common strategy, or something your men would put up with for long.

BTW Thanks for sharing that image from the payback war because I have literally been the one and only person saying Jozu quite possibly still have BOTH his arms. Everybody's telling me 'no, he lost an arm.' But there are two things that could work against that. 1 - We got an obscure look both in the manga and the anime of him being partially frozen and then he fell down. 2 - Okay, let's say he did lose an arm. He had both during the payback war so maybe he got it back.
Point is, there hasn't been any concrete confirmation as far as I can remember of Jozu now being onehanded. If I am wrong or missed a scene or vivre card, somebody reply and let me know. Because the obscure scene in Marineford is not enough because we didn't literally see his arm shatter to bits or break off. Nor is the fanmade wikia enough either. I need either vivre card done by Oda OR something that I missed in the manga. And if that's the case then perhaps the anime team slipped up or he somehow got it back
I am pretty sure Jozu lost an arm, but is replacing it with his devil fruit power, kind of like how Kidd is doing it, as well as Aokiji and others.
