- After many delays including starting a new job, we're finally here. Today, we look at the worst uniforms that NHL teams have put out onto the ice. Or, the least interesting in some cases.

I'm not a huge fan of the Devils "Jersey" Jersey, but its funny to me how a lot of people are starting to like them more now than they did when they were first released. Really shows how popular team jersey's become when a team starts to win.

The Pooh Bear jersey has a lot of history behind it.
They took the logo from a painting that was in Harry Sinden's office and they decided to go with it as part of the group of the first ever 3rd jerseys.
Harry Sinden also wanted to make it the primary logo. Given that the Bruins haven't lost at all with the RR versions, I think Sinden was right lol
That bear was actually taken from their original logo which was a brown bear, standing on the word "Boston"
Still doesn't make it look like it's not some ripoff Hershey Bears jersey in Bruins colors.
I honestly like that capitals jersey A lot. But that stupid "W represents blah blah" is absolute crap.
Disagree with the Leafs one, but everything else is agreeable.
Worst Leafs jersey for me is probably the aways of 2010-2016. GLG.

As a lifelong Leafs fan ( since the 70's ), I have to say that those "Bieber" black Leafs jerseys are terrible! The Leafs are BLUE and WHITE. What does the colour black have anything to do with the Leafs? They look more like Star Wars action figures on the ice than hockey players, lol.
The reason that the Predators old alternate looked mustard was because of its construction. The jerseys were made with two separate layers. The bottom layer was a navy air-knit material and the top was a thinner gold mesh. The mesh holes let enough of the navy through that the material looked mustard from afar. It was an interesting design. The Thrashers used the same design on their first-generation baby blue alternates as well. I know some teams in the Nike era used a similar construction in their underarm gussets but Nashville and Atlanta are the only team that I know of who used it for the entire body. Oh and speaking as a collector, it makes finding matching nameplates quite the challenge. I would have to find another blank jersey to cut up to prevent any mismatching and those things are never cheap.

As an Avs fan, I could not agree more. The Blueberry jerseys, as we call them, were so boring and are reminiscent of a forgettable era.

Honestly, half of these teams could have their Reebok Edge 2007 jersey as an honorable mention.
The late 2000's had so many bland, forgettable or downright ugly jerseys. And many of them felt so cookie-cutter, the Senators and Penguins ended up with literally the exact same design.
Yeah for as much praise as some people give Reebok jerseys especially with the Fanatics deal about to go into effect, the same crowd forgets that Reebok produced plenty of crap early on in their endeavor.
Regarding the Penguins’ logo from 1992-2002 (dubbed the “Robp-Penguin”), legendary KDKA TV news anchor Bill Burns derided the logo as a “pigeon”.
I still think Arizona should go full furry with their logo. Make a big titty fox girl and slap it on a jersey. That’ll bring in more fans.
I disagree with a lot of the choices in this video, but that's partly because there have been so many ugly jerseys to choose from. Being a Calgary fan, I hate the pedestal jerseys (1994-1998), the script jerseys (2013-1016), and the 2022-2023 retro reverse jerseys. The Heritage classic jersey isn't bad, but the light tan breezers, gloves and skates made that uniform look horrid. I look forward to the day the league says each team can only have a home jersey and an away jersey. There are so many different color schemes for each team now that when you go to an NHL game today, it's hard to feel a connection with the other fans since everyone appears to be cheering for a different team.
You're insane if you think the Wild Wing jersey is the worst jersey the Ducks have had. First off, that's a sick jersey, but I can understand it not being for everyone. But the "Ducks" or D logo jerseys of the past decade+ are infinitely worse. They're so boring and uninspired.
Only jersey I disagree with is Anaheim. Their current look is awful. They should switch back to the original logo and colours asap. 1 honorable mention is Dallas. Yes the black one you mentioned is the worst but the current jersey logo is terrible. The OG stars logo is what they should be wearing and the 2022 reverse retro proves that.
No offense dude, but other than Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and the Devils you are pretty much wrong about all the other teams.
Don't you dare speak ill of the Pooh bear Jersey. The Bruins entry should've been the Meth bear jersey. That thing is begging to be taken out back and put out of it's misery.

I disagree with the Lightning one. I rather like that design. Yeah, it's not their primary color scheme, but I think they did well with it. Just my 2 cents.
I became an Isles fan as a kid in 93 when they upset the Pens so when they unveiled the Fisherman jerseys I loved them and all anyone ever did was talk crap I love that they are on the comeback!! Awesome video

@Jenn Stapp I'm from Pittsburgh,growing up at that time was magical. 91 was the first time I got to experience a sports championship,and living 5 min from downtown put us right in the middle of it. I still remember going to the airport at 2:30 in the morning to meet the team(pre 9/11 that was what fans did) and it was the first time I cut school to attend the trophy celebration(before they had parades). By 93 we were downright cocky and prob better the isles put us in our place

@Jenn Stapp I'm DAMN lucky to live in such a small city and still have teams that still won championships. Between the pens and steelers I've been alive for 10 of which we won 7. In 08-09 the pens won the cup in June then the Super Bowl in January...my 20's was a CRAZY time lol
Bring back the "Buffaslug" uniform for the Sabres. It's so bad, that it's good. The original Buffaslug caps are collectibles.
The OG Jackets logo should’ve had 17 stars since Ohio is the 17th state.
There are a lot of alternate (3rd) Jerseys that I liked i think they (NHL teams) should adopted a 4th Jersey

I was at a Capitals game when the Preds were in town and wearing those odgawful third jerseys.
Somebody seated nearby said that Nashville ought to be getting two minutes for wearing ugly sweaters, and I was like, "Naw man, those are so ugly they deserve a ten minute misconduct."
The Blackhawks red jerseys are the best in all of professional sports

Blue Jackets features the Ohio flag, which should have 17 stars as Ohio was the 17th state.
The Habs were revisiting their previous uniforms for their 100th birthday and they did wear a barbershop pole jersey in their first 10 years. With my colleagues (we sell sports articles at my workplace, btw), we do mock this jersey plus the Islanders' Captain High Liner jersey, the Dallas Stars' uterus-looking logo, the Kings' Burger King jersey that Wayne Gretzky had the dishonor of wearing (look at 10:47) and the Ducks' Wild Wing jersey

As a lightning fan, personally I love the all black jerseys. One of my favorite current ones. Then again I’m a goth guy so I’m probably biased lol
I love that one, too. I wish our Bolts would use that as a template for new primary uniforms. I'm not feeling our 2 primary jerseys.

Lol one of the most popular(def one of my favorite) pens jerseys is the "Pittsburgh" written diagonal like Colorado's from the 90's. Yea snoop had a big part of that cuz he wore it in the "gin & juice" video,but in the city we LOVED that jerseys and want it back(I think they may have recently done something with it,I been outta the loop)

The orange alternate was for the Oilers is a lot like the Cannon jersey for Columbus or the warring flag jersey for the Hurricanes, they look great! As an alternate

The fact that the Blackhawks 2022 Reverse Retro isn't on this is a joke. The 2019 Winter Classic is a true classic look for the Hawks because it connects the Blackhawks of the current era with Blackhawks of the 1st years. 2022 Reverse Retro maybe be based off the classic barber pole jerseys but with the fact it has a word mark stating Chicago BS attempt by Adidas.
The Vegas Reverse Retro is based off of the Las Vegas Thunder jersey, which a simple google search could have told you had you bothered to do one
I actually googled this and it’s based off the Las Vegas WRANGLERS, not the Thunder. But even with that bit of information, still not a fan of the jersey.
@@WindyCityLeague the red color came from the Wranglers. the design of the jersey with the two striped "V" is literally a color swapped version of the Las Vegas Thunder jersey.

I like the black Lightning jersey. I also think the dark Maple Leafs jersey was popular because of the same reason. People like minimal. The other extreme such as the ones with the stripes almost never work.
Agree with you completely on the Dallas Jersey. They got screwed when the NHL adopted Reebok as their jersey manufacturer. Their previous uniform did not fit the template for the Reebok Edge uniforms, so they had to completely change it. Not sure if they didn't have time, but surely you would assume they would come up with something better than a Basketball format.

To be fair I don't think the Sharks have EVER worn a bad jersey. The Seals throwback is beautiful but i can understand it being the softest.

I was like "I can't think of a bad Habs uniform" and then it appeared on the screen. I had completely blanked that from my memory.
I'm primarily a Flyers fan being born in South Jersey but in Phoenix for 40+ years now. So, Yotes are my second team.
I HATED their firer sweaters. The Kachina Coyotes looks like some peyote inspired modern art bad trip! Loved thier more traditional and yes.... Simple...howling Coyote sweaters. Old time hockey eh. Really disappointed they went back to the acid trippin Kachina Coyote logo.
Jets and Knights are far and away best new emblems. Simple, sharp, classic? Seattle...what opportunity....blown! Silly S and no man should be force to play on those shades of blue! Seriously! Especially hockey! Like the Sharks terrible emblem and color!😊
The Knights R.R. 1.0 is based out of the VERY 1ST Vegas hockey team of the IHL the Las Vegas Thunder, plus the Red is inspired by the Red Mountains in Nevada
I’m no Tampa bay fan but I really like their black-gray gradient jerseys- unique while keeping the simplicity of their current look
Ironically the new Pooh Bear uniforms that the Bs are now wearing look awesome. The white makes it look so much cleaner. I never understood why they used so much yellow in the first throwback. It took away from the rest of the uniform cause there was just too much yellow. The new ones are beautiful. I hope they keep these for the foreseeable future
I’m glad their first RR was gold, because I think they should be using more gold.

Ducks: Jumping Wild Wing. Cool concept, but should've remained in the vault.
Coyotes: All red jersey. The redesign in the mid-2010s made them better.
Bruins: Ripoff Hershey jersey. Yes, I'm calling it a ripoff Hershey jersey because it literally looks like a bad Hershey Bears jersey in Bruins colors. Honestly, I'd expect it to be a Providence Bruins ugly sweater jersey instead of a jersey for Boston.
Sabres: Early 2010s alternate. Gotta agree with you on this one.
Flames: Tigers Heritage Classic jersey. Honestly, this could've been done way better.
Hurricanes: Current road jersey. Whoever designed these needs to look at the Senators "Sens" jersey and realize that shortened versions of the team name looks stupid.
Blackhawks: 2019 Winter Classic. Gotta agree here again.
Avalanche: Blue ripoff Rangers jerseys. Once again, I have to agree with you here.
Blue Jackets: Original jerseys. How did that logo last until 2007? It looks a little better in Reverse Retro but eh..
Stars: 2020 Strs jersey. Seriously, this looks cringe. The "Dallas" jerseys are lazy, but these monstrosities need to be burned in a fireplace. These make their highlighter jerseys (which are pretty much a ripoff of the Utica Comets blackout jerseys and the Seahawks highlighter jerseys) look like masterpieces.
Red Wings: Reverse Retro 1.0 jerseys. Another one where I agree with you.
Oilers: Blue color rush. Dear God, whoever created these things needs to be fired. The original version is barely legible because the shade of orange contrasts against the navy blue like yellow contrasts off of anything that isn't black: Terribly.
Panthers: Current jerseys. These jerseys are an obvious Senators ripoff. Seriously Florida, look at your Reverse Retro 1.0 jerseys and use those. Hell, even use that logo because let's face it that logo is way better than the bland current logo.
Kings: 1st alternate jerseys. Just like the Ducks, it was a cool concept but should've stayed in the vault.
Wild: Christmas jerseys. Ah yes, the jerseys that gave Minnesota the nickname of the Christmas team. Thumbs down.
Habs: Both Reverse Retro jerseys. As bad as the barbershop 1912 jersey looks, that at least honored history while the reverse retros don't. Especially the new one where it's teal. Even then, when did the Habs have a jersey that was mainly BLUE? These jerseys should've been a throwback to the white jerseys from the Lafleur era of Habs hockey.
Predators: Dijon mustard jerseys. Why Nashville, just why?
Devils: "Jersey" jerseys. Seriously who at Adidas thought this was a good idea? This looks worse than if a 5-year-old had made it in NHL 23.
Islanders: Ripoff Mets jerseys. Ironic that a team from Long Island wanted to rip off a team from Queens. Just because it worked for the Mets doesn't mean it'll work for the Isles. Just stick with the fisherman unis, Islanders.
Rangers: 1970s jerseys. Gotta agree with you here.
Senators: Sens alternates. These should've been scrapped in 2009. However, these are somehow better than that God awful Senator head logo Binghamton had in the 2010s before they moved to Belleville.
Flyers: 2002 alternate orange. That Flyers logo looks worse than the cringe worthy Phillies all red jerseys from the 1970s.
Penguins: pre-2016/17 jerseys. Gotta agree, that shade of gold looks terrible with Pittsburgh's colorscheme and is somehow worse than their blatant Rangers ripoffs.
Sharks: Early 2010s jerseys. These look like a terrible Earthquakes jersey. As rough as the Sharks Reverse Retro 2.0 jerseys might be, they look better than the 2010s one before they were redesigned.
Kraken: None. Maybe the Metropolitans jerseys if you're nitpicky but the Kraken jerseys look great.
Blues: Reverse Retro 1.0 jerseys. What went wrong, St Louis? And no, they can't blame Kadri for this.
Lightning: Gradient alternates. Cool concept, rough execution.
Leafs: Reverse Retro 1.0 jerseys. The grey ruins these jerseys for me.
Canucks: Flying V jerseys. Pretty self-explanatory.
Golden Knights: Reverse Retro 1.0 jerseys. To be fair, Vegas didn't have much to work with for these. But yeah the new Reverse Retro jerseys look way better, especially with the glow in the dark effect.
Jets: Original Jets jerseys. Although that terrible alternate Thrashers jersey looks awful, the original Jets uniforms looked way worse. No wonder why they left for Phoenix.
Capitals: 2020 W alternate jersey. Seriously, they should've just kept the 2018 Stadium Series jerseys.
Great video, btw! Also, please do an AHL vid. I'd love to see you rip apart a few of those jerseys, especially those god awful orange SYR alternates used by the Syracuse Crunch. Even as a Crunch fan, I'll admit that jersey is terrible.
IMO, the worst Toronto Maple Leafs jerseys were the ones they wore from 1970-71 to 1991-92 (with the vertical stripes on the sleeves and the solid horizontal stripe on the bottom).

I don't remember those crappy jerseys without team logos on them. I did like the Leafs Black n blue jerseys but then again im a fan. And the Avs alternate was the worst
I'm a Caps fan and I didn't know the middle of the W was the monument. But I really can't stand the black uniforms with the capital building on the front. Never could stand those colors.

The Kings' 1995-96 alternates are very good. Their current primary jerseys or the half-assed Winter Classic jerseys they've trotted out are far, FAR worse.
Lightning fan here. I think the alternate uniform that inspired its 2022-23 Reverse Retro uni is the club's worst.
THE WILD have the best logo in the NHL, not the Blackhawks IMHO. The latter have a great crest, no doubt, but I don't even count it among my Top 10 because I find the Wild, Devils, Flyers, Red Wings, Kraken, Blues, Canucks, Avalanche, Blue Jackets and Ducks logos more striking. Most of them showcase what I prize in graphic design: cleverness and flow.
The Montreal uniform was part of the team's 100th Anniversary (yes they are older than the NHL) - they used all of their old jerseys that season ugly and all
The Oiler jerseys of the late 90s early 2000s is the ugliestnOiler jersey of them all. Looks like a scrambled egg inside a gear with a dull gold and minimal.krange. This orange is alright but the blue would be better
How is that Buffalo jersey worse than the slug one? Also, the O on the front of the Ottawa one could be read as a big zero, which isn't the message a sports team should be conveying about themselves.
As an NHL historian, I have to say I was impressed in most of your choices, including what is also my choice for the very worst uni my storied team, from Montreal ever wore, the 1912 JAILBREAK sweaters* (As I call them); it amazes me that they ever lost a game while wearing those sweaters as they surely blinded the opposing players (I guess they blinded the Habs players, TOO) * I use the term sweater here as hockey was played in freezing cold arenas with natural ice, at the time, thus they were actual wool sweaters, rather than jerseys!

personally as a vegas fan I actually prefer the Red jersey to the gold. I think it should have had the main logo but I think it was a more interesting alternate than the gold was, and I wish that the gold was not the home jersey. Current RR is the better jersey though and honestly that should be the home fit.
I've always been a fan of the Oilers orange, and I know I'm in the minority. But easily their worst was the Reebok Edge jerseys with stripes that did not make sense, apron strings and a white jersey that was no better than a practice jersey
The logo on that Blackhawks uni reminds me of the Starbucks or Black Rifle Coffee logos
The wild’s “Christmas” sweaters are imo soooo much better than the all green threads which I think are s9me of the worst jerseys currently being worn in the league
Fun fact: the Bruins owner wanted to make the Pooh bear logo the main logo. Once the public heard about it they voiced their opinion and it stayed the spoked B

The Montreal Canadiens alternate jersey had to be the worse one. It's so jarring to see one of sport's great franchises sink so low as to sport such a disgusting look.

I actually liked the Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, Arizona, Anaheim, Detroit and Tampa Bay, and I absolutely love the Oilers orange jersey
