To me, the difference between the 90's and 2020's comes down to originality. In the 90's, teams were trying new things and coming up with truly crazy, never heard of designs. It gave us unforgettable designs, and even the spectacular failures were kinda cool. We saw so many teams introducing brand new logos. The goathead, the screaming eagle, Blasty, Robopenguin... And the new teams had home run looks after home run looks. The Sharks, the Mighty Ducks, the Panthers, the Coyotes... The 2020 - and we can go back to the start of Adidas in 2017, lacks those new ideas. It's a shame to see so many teams just go back to basically replicas of their old jerseys instead of trying something new. I do love how Adidas is bringing in textures to jerseys, like the shiny silver on the Kings's alternate, the waves in the brand new Sharks jersey or the gold flakes on the Golden Knights. But too much of it is recycling

The same goes for the blue gloves and pants verses the black, but that pertains more to the overall uniform and not the jersey itself. There are definitely a lot of improvements across the league, though, I agree. The Sabres are back where they should be, the Sens have great jerseys again, and I really like the Penguins returning to their early 90’s design. Personally, I’m indifferent to the Flames res design; I liked the black in the uniforms, but I understand a lot of the fans prefer the late 80’s look. I agree with Corwin tbh, right now is the best looking jersey we have in nhl history and the fact that they are going back to old logos shouldn't affect its score. Btw, as a Habs fan I can't believe no one talked about that AWFUL candy cane Mtl jersey. That is one of the worst jersey in NHL history

@@ericratynski in the end, it's all about personal taste and everyone has different views on such things as the beauty of nhl jerseys, so I also understand their point, but I don't agree on all of them. Also, maybe now that the NHL is introducing adds on jerseys we can put the 2020's in the Worst of all time section .
there's only two points that I'd say I disagree with here: 1. besides the weird fisherman logo, that 90's Islanders jersey is dope. the colors are really nice, I love everything about that jersey outside of the logo, which imo doesn't ruin it. 2. the 2000's Pittsburgh jersey you mentioned is one of my absolute favorites of theirs, and I know you mentioned that they muted the yellow, but I don't think they would have looked as good with yellow instead of the gold. skating penguin on the chest, robo pen on the shoulders, and I love the diagonal sections on the sides of the body. I'm not a huge fan of the redesign when Reebok took over in the late 2010's, but that brief window from Lemieux's comeback until Crosby's first season or two where these were their primary jersey was nice.
as a Devils fan, we started out with elite jerseys and have gone downhill ever since. Adidas ruined our normal jerseys and gave us a slap in the face when they revealed our first black alternate we have been dying to have forever. 90s S tier, 10s and 20s F.
Hate me, but I love the Penguins metalic gold jerseys from the 2000s. Although I dislike the Penguins, that jersey with that logo always catches my attention.
It would've made me sense to go "pre-expansion" "post-expansion" than 60s 70s. 70s got fleased though. Talk about creativity. You didn't even mention Rockies, Seals, FLYERS, OG Caps, OG Nucks. Definitely better than the 80s
Yeah, not even a word on the classic jerseys from the Blues, Flyers or Kings from 1967, and the baby blue Pens from 1968 (they had a diagonal script one for their first season that was just ok). Even the OG Seals was great.
Honestly, I never understood why the Sens never used gold more on their jerseys aside from this one. Just a very small touch of gold on their current uniforms would go a long way.
I don’t know if you can just haphazardly say the 1960s jerseys were safe or weren’t experimental. It’s easy to look back on some of these jerseys with 2022 eyes and say they weren’t doing anything interesting. Because you’re used to seeing the same jerseys for decades doesn’t mean they weren’t experimenting a ton in that era. Jets jerseys in the 70s were “somewhat similar” to the Rangers jersey of that era because an executive for the Rangers went to Winnipeg and pitched that jersey concept when the Rangers had already agreed to move on from the design. The Jets got it directly from them.
I think the 2000's actually started dying in Jersey design in the 2003-2004 era when the Coyotes rebranded. That was the first team to make a terrible rebrand choice and every team after that just continued to screw stuff up.
The Reebok Edge era is far and away the worst era for hockey sweaters. There is a list of terrible design aspects that were mushed in to those jerseys. Just awful.
If you had to ask me, I'd say 90s are my favorite decade for jerseys. Across all sports, that decade was the most creative IMO. As a Canes fan, I have bias towards the OG look (btw super pumped we get to have it back this season) and to me it's in the upper echelon of "peak 90s design" when it comes to hockey jerseys. To me, the OG Canes, OG Avs, Dallas' "Star" jersey, and the Robopen are my "4 Horsemen of 90s Jersey Design." Each has its own qualities that conveys their markets in their own ways. I know a lot of people hate the Robopen, but I love it, especially the white one, and have childhood memories attached to it. As for the Avs and Stars, those 2 teams had the best designs IMO of the 90s. Just perfect branding. Canes definitely made a jersey that feels like an NC jersey too. I know people love to joke with us North Carolinians about "ooh gotta catch the NASCAR race Saturday," and NASCAR does have its place in our culture, but we've kinda moved away from NASCAR and it's been replaced by basketball and football, but hockey's starting to really gain traction. The bold lettering, reminiscent of NASCAR, really adds an NC flavor to the OG's that is lost on our current set. I've got 3 OG Canes jerseys, 2 in red 1 in white, and out of all of em in my collection I love them the most. 90s definitely are my favorite decade for jerseys
The Stars black and neon green is one of my favorites that thing is LEGIT...also just wanted to say I'm going through a really tough breakup on the verge of offing myself and watching these videos really help take my mind of things and bring a smile to my face.
This might differ from popular opinion but I actually liked the old Penguins jerseys when Crosby was breaking in. Might just be because that’s what I grew up with before they switched back to their old jerseys.

Make a white version of the RR and call it a day, honestly. It's no wonder Washington had the best selling Reverse Retro when it looked this sharp
@@estellegrignon I definitely agree. Stick with the red, white, and blue, but go with the screaming eagle.
The reversed nordique with colorado colors looks awesome
Dallas' 2000s jersey felt like an attempt to mimic NFL jerseys in order to try and draw in football fans.
I wish they just put Northwestern striping just like their unis from the 90s if they like to be more football, not like that
Now that I think of it, the mid 2000s rebrand for Anaheim DID work out. They won the cup after the switch!
I appreciate people with hot takes and having information to back it. Not one person on the panel reacted the same way when Corwin explained his points
@@ericratynski in the end, it's all about personal taste and everyone has different views on such things as the beauty of nhl jerseys, so I also understand their point, but I don't agree on all of them.
Also, maybe now that the NHL is introducing adds on jerseys we can put the 2020's in the Worst of all time section .
there's only two points that I'd say I disagree with here:
1. besides the weird fisherman logo, that 90's Islanders jersey is dope. the colors are really nice, I love everything about that jersey outside of the logo, which imo doesn't ruin it.
2. the 2000's Pittsburgh jersey you mentioned is one of my absolute favorites of theirs, and I know you mentioned that they muted the yellow, but I don't think they would have looked as good with yellow instead of the gold. skating penguin on the chest, robo pen on the shoulders, and I love the diagonal sections on the sides of the body.
90s S tier, 10s and 20s F.
preach
The Jersey jersey has definitely hit rock bottom 😆.
The sharks 2014 stadium series and the wild Reebok alternate are awesome
You gotta rank jerseys per decade not just the decade itself. I need this to be a 10 part series
Nashville’s navy 3rd jerseys were fire
I loved a bunch of the jerseys from the 2000s era jerseys. I would kill for a diagonal Bolts jersey
Jesse's sweater choice *chef's kiss*
I agree with Corwin on this Era
Hate me, but I love the Penguins metalic gold jerseys from the 2000s. Although I dislike the Penguins, that jersey with that logo always catches my attention.
Do a tier list of jerseys from movies and tv
Any chance Z gets to put the Whalers mall footage in, he's taking it
I think the Avs current alt (the C mountain) and the Hurricanes now home (the black jersey) are absolutely gorgeous.
Was your audio engineer on PCP or something mixing this? What the hell is the random thumping noise?
@Jesse that's not the Whitehouse bud
It would've made me sense to go "pre-expansion" "post-expansion" than 60s 70s.
70s got fleased though. Talk about creativity. You didn't even mention Rockies, Seals, FLYERS, OG Caps, OG Nucks.
Definitely better than the 80s
Yeah, not even a word on the classic jerseys from the Blues, Flyers or Kings from 1967, and the baby blue Pens from 1968 (they had a diagonal script one for their first season that was just ok). Even the OG Seals was great.
Senators 2000's jerseys with the arrows going around the waist are one of the best jerseys in history. Dont get why people hate on it so much
Honestly, I never understood why the Sens never used gold more on their jerseys aside from this one. Just a very small touch of gold on their current uniforms would go a long way.
Were it not for the Army parachute team trademark issue, Vegas would’ve debuted looking exactly like the 2000s Sens lol
I cannot lie I loved the 2010s wild jersey. Easily my favorite jersey from my team, besides the reverse retro
ACTUALLY VERY ACCURATE LIST
I think the 2000's actually started dying in Jersey design in the 2003-2004 era when the Coyotes rebranded. That was the first team to make a terrible rebrand choice and every team after that just continued to screw stuff up.
Corwin fr putting the win in corwin
Jesses take on the 2000s I completely agree
The attack on the Detroit Vipers jersey was a personal one. Long live the viper!
The Reebok Edge era is far and away the worst era for hockey sweaters.
There is a list of terrible design aspects that were mushed in to those jerseys.
Just awful.
The flying V canucks jersey is my second favorite Canucks jersey as there current one is my favorite (I'm a huge Canucks fan)
No talk about Vegas or Seattle!!! Both sickkkk jerseys
The Stars black and neon green is one of my favorites that thing is LEGIT...also just wanted to say I'm going through a really tough breakup on the verge of offing myself and watching these videos really help take my mind of things and bring a smile to my face.
13:01 Jesse, it’s the Capital Building in that Caps jersey
the Summit Ice shirt 🔥
This might differ from popular opinion but I actually liked the old Penguins jerseys when Crosby was breaking in. Might just be because that’s what I grew up with before they switched back to their old jerseys.
Chicago’s black alternates got slept on majorly
BTW- the 1960s included a rather large event in 1967 with a barrage of new colors.
WE NEED MORE TIER LIST VIDEOS
