I love how Jesse calls the Capital building on the Capitals jersey the white house 😂
was just about to say that
@UCCtjfKNSz9Y-EG7sWA9n8vw nah we just live in a better country🇨🇦
@@lajatootreacts What does where you live have to do with your ability to recognize famous landmarks?
@@lukemoyer7260 because we don’t care about USA stuff, capital building ain’t a world landmark either 💀💀💀
Beat me. Ah well.
Now you guys need to do a video ranking the best jersey in each franchise's history.
The Minnesota green alts were amazing. The Wild have yet to fail at designing jerseys
Yeah I feel like most wild fans love those jerseys and have been begging for another forest green + wheat colored jersey.
@@roloson0 absolutely. I was thinking an inverse of that alt with the wheat as the primary color
Not even a Wild fan, but those green alts were amazing. I also really, really loved their Winter Classic look. I'll admit though that I'm still not a fan of the red jersey they had for a while, especially as a main home jersey
Except for every single home/away jersey they've worn since they entered the league
@@Outta-hz1ej no. They have always had good uniforms that evolved with time.
Here are how I would describe the decades
60's - The classics. Original six era
70's - The new kids on the blocks. Expansion team era
80's - WHA merger. Peak simple design era
90's - COLORS!!! DESIGN!!! AESTHETICS!!! Experimental era
2000's - 90's era, but it's the sequel. Early Rbk Edge. Weird era
2010's - So many limitations, and no room for true experimentation. Rbk Edge era
2020's - Retro is cool again! Express yourself! Adidas era
How the heck did the Florida Panthers jersey not get mentioned for the 90s? That logo and jersey was absolutely beautiful. Though, as a San Jose Sharks fan, our jersey and logo will always be awesome no matter what decade they are in 😎 🦈👍
I wish the Sharks would just go back to those OG jerseys and a black alternate. They have gotten worse and worse over the years. The early 2000's were cool. But the orange? Ew! And the current jerseys aren't bad, but they just seem like knock offs of the originals.
I was also shocked about the panthers jerseys. The panthers really messed that up. 😔
The early 00's Kings jerseys are the best kit they've ever had and I'll die on that hill. Both the crest and crown logos are fantastic and the royal purple fits so well with the black and silver.
the coat of arms logo is perennially disrespected and I'll die on that hill. it is such an awesome logo.
Sharks stealth jerseys in the 2010s were absolute fire.
I agree with this list but I think Corwin made a good point that the 90’s was phenomenal but let’s just admit the age of this group (of which I’m very close too I think) is hugely biased towards that era but I think this decade blends that need for nostalgia with a decent chunk of ingenuity that we will continue to see develop.
Also as a Flames fan Blasty is moderately controversial but I love em
Clearly biased. Some of those jerseys were horrid.
I'm slightly older than these guys and the jerseys today are so much better than the 90's jerseys. Some of the ones that they say were hated, but now loved...nope! Still pretty much hated lol. For instance...The Robopigeon Pens jersey is ONLY liked by people who were kids when it came out.
They're also underselling the 2010's.
To me, the difference between the 90's and 2020's comes down to originality. In the 90's, teams were trying new things and coming up with truly crazy, never heard of designs. It gave us unforgettable designs, and even the spectacular failures were kinda cool. We saw so many teams introducing brand new logos. The goathead, the screaming eagle, Blasty, Robopenguin... And the new teams had home run looks after home run looks. The Sharks, the Mighty Ducks, the Panthers, the Coyotes...
The 2020 - and we can go back to the start of Adidas in 2017, lacks those new ideas. It's a shame to see so many teams just go back to basically replicas of their old jerseys instead of trying something new. I do love how Adidas is bringing in textures to jerseys, like the shiny silver on the Kings's alternate, the waves in the brand new Sharks jersey or the gold flakes on the Golden Knights. But too much of it is recycling
you just copied what they said in there video.
Cannot believe you didn't do reviews of sweaters from the 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s
Also Jesse confidently saying 'we don't respect old people' was WILD
You're right, the skipping of the early era is disappointing. The Detroit Red Wings original white jersey, with white sleeves, is quite possibly the classiest sweater ever in the league.
1:27
They did. They said they were lumping it together with the ‘60s.
20’s jerseys they didn’t mention, the navy oilers, arizona, seattle, vegas, sens, canes, and a lot of minor changes to other jerseys
there’s so much good shit going on rn i’d agree with corwin
Its unfortunate adidas is leaving the nhl soon and we are getting a new manufacture cause adidas was doing something incredible imo
The original Sharks uniforms might be the single greatest of all time.
That color, jersey, and logo transcended sports.
The whole brand kick started the MASSIVE surge in popularity of teal in the sports world.
The Charlotte Hornets did it first but the Sharks perfected it and made it the absolute monster that it was.
Those uniforms should have never changed.
I'm a Kings fan and I'm agreeing with you. Is that how good they are?
I am from L. A. and was Kings fan until the Sharks came into the league due to those jerseys. I was kid then, but I was in love with those jerseys I bought one big enough to one day fit into it when I get into high school. I still to this day have that jersey and can still fit in it. That jersey is 30 years old and still awesome! I hate the orange they added to it later on, but still a decent jersey, but that original jersey is clearly the greatest of all time in the NHL.
2020s is definitely A-tier thus far at the very least. The Sharks, Oilers, Sens, Sabres, Yotes, and Flames all managed to redesign their jerseys and they all killed it. Throw in the Kraken's sick jerseys as well, it's a great era for NHL uniforms and more will surely come.
Eh, some teams have definitely taken a step back, in my opinion.
The new Devils jerseys are objectively a step backward. They were perfect the way they were, I don’t see how removing the waist stripes in any way improved that sweater.
I think the Avalanche jersey is worse, as well. I’m partial to the old design with the yeti’s foot and the old font, but I didn’t mind the Colorado state flag C shoulder patch and redesigned number don’t, but I don’t think the blue numbers on the white jerseys are an upgrade over the black numbers. The same goes for the blue gloves and pants verses the black, but that pertains more to the overall uniform and not the jersey itself.
There are definitely a lot of improvements across the league, though, I agree. The Sabres are back where they should be, the Sens have great jerseys again, and I really like the Penguins returning to their early 90’s design. Personally, I’m indifferent to the Flames res design; I liked the black in the uniforms, but I understand a lot of the fans prefer the late 80’s look. As for the Sharks, I actually really liked their early 2000’s sweater when they still had Nabokov in net and thought that was their most dialed in look.
Just my two cents. I like these sorts of discussions.
Well the Oilers, Flames, Sens, Sabres and Yotes just brought back the jerseys they had in the 70's, 80's and/or 90's. It shows that current NHL can't come up with anything new and if anything, it just solidifies how great those eras were
The green Minnesota wordmark jerseys being in worst of 2010's is a crime against humanity. Those are a top 10 of all time.
Those 2018 Rangers winter classic jerseys were insanely great
solid argument by corwin at the end. love the 2020's and we've only had 2 years of it and its a contender!
I loved those green wild jerseys favorite ones besides the reverse retro and 2016 stadium series.
As a Caps fan the only defending I will do of the switch of the modern jerseys is the fact it is AWESOME that everyone in the arena is wearing the all red jersey. Makes for a great atmosphere
Good episode! So many of these jerseys are classics!
Hope you guys do a weekly podcast again soon! Love the hockey content
The Stars black and neon green is one of my favorites that thing is LEGIT...also just wanted to say I'm going through a really tough breakup on the verge of offing myself and watching these videos really help take my mind of things and bring a smile to my face.
Dallas' 2000s jersey felt like an attempt to mimic NFL jerseys in order to try and draw in football fans.
I wish they just put Northwestern striping just like their unis from the 90s if they like to be more football, not like that
Great mentions. It all changed with the av’s growing up. San Jose logo was always bad ass as a kid. Also as a Boston fan hot take I’ve always loved the Pooh bear jersey. Also always liked the north stars color way.
Agree that the 90s were the OG best era, the 00s absolutely killed the momentum, and the 20s are an excellent era for jerseys. I then lost my mind when y'all included the Stars third jersey with the Texas logo - I have that in my top 10 all-time. Those are SICK. And as an Avs fan, 100% agreed, those Nordiques reverse retros are so awesome.
Being a pens fan, I used to not like the 00’s gold jerseys but nowadays I absolutely love them, just bought a black ‘06 one this week in fact
You guys nailed this list!
Okay finally I get to watch this after y’all took it down the first time😭
This is a weird feeling.. agreeing with Jesse for most of the video.
Props to Corwin for the Summit Ice shirt.
Corwin acknowledges the holocaust
@@eradtv Deny Nothing.
As a 90% unbiased hockey fan, but as a 10% Leafs fan, my birthright was to hate the Sabres. The black and red colourway legitimately swayed all my hate away from them and now I'm a fan of the team somehow. Even going so far as to cheer for the Bills. A good jersey goes a long way.
never in my worst nightmares did i think Fanatics would get the contract
The Hockey Guy said that he Dallas Stars had to switch when Reebok took over because the Reebok Template wouldn't allow for it to work. The early Reebok designs were truly atrocious.
No one forced them to wear a wordmark on their home and away jerseys
@@CrescentCitySweaters agreed, they could have just skipped to their current design, though it's still not that great.
Jesse leaving the baby blue penguins winter classic out of the top 5 for the 00’s is disrespectful
I love the thrashers jerseys yet I always hear people hating on them. So for once I am glad to agree with Jesse on how amazing the thrashers jerseys are. But then they ruin it and hate on the 2010's Minnesota jerseys
Those powder blue jerseys were unreal. Wild's jerseys have always been kinda trash.
@@MrCrockaG if have to disagree with the wild jerseys. I love most of them, especially the white with gold trim. I don’t like the red with the logo in the middle of the circle tho
Gotta agree yer out to lunch on the Minnesota wordmark sweaters. Goated and an excellent throwback to the Minnesota all-star game
Nothing gets your hockey nostalgia trip going like being reminded koho was once a company. For whatever reason I feel like when the adidas contracts is up, under armour’s gonna get the contract to make NHL jerseys.
It’s probably going to be Nike.
@@KevinNerfs I doubt it cause Nike already made the jerseys at one point and decided they had enough.
@@JeffONeillOverdrive So did Adidas.
@@KevinNerfs Adidas has been making the jerseys since 2017. When did they produce NHL jerseys prior to that?
@@JeffONeillOverdrive I was mostly joking, but Adidas did make the Kings' jerseys from 1984-87. On a more serious note, I doubt it'll be Under Armour because they don't seem to have the capability to outfit a major league. I don't think it'll be CCM because they don't have the global reach to market a league like the NHL. I think it'll be Nike because they have the brand power and the capabilities.
Peak 90s hockey in my head is Owen Nolan's slapshot goal in the ASG with those sick jerseys the lasers pointing
80s and 90s are great and some of my favorites are here, but its a ton of teams using the same jersey with different colors/logos.
Jesse is and always will be the GOAT (We used to eat rocks together in Elementary)
Guess I'm alone in thinking the Dallas neon green and black jersey is sick. Love that jersey.
You are not alone. I love that jersey and it’s so original. Everyone is making fun of their jerseys but those are badass. And now look at how some teams are attempting the dark jerseys(ahem Toronto ahem) like Dallas. So I don’t agree at all saying those are bad jerseys. I do wish they would bring back the 90’s jersey because all of us Dallas fans want it back.
If you had to ask me, I'd say 90s are my favorite decade for jerseys. Across all sports, that decade was the most creative IMO. As a Canes fan, I have bias towards the OG look (btw super pumped we get to have it back this season) and to me it's in the upper echelon of "peak 90s design" when it comes to hockey jerseys. To me, the OG Canes, OG Avs, Dallas' "Star" jersey, and the Robopen are my "4 Horsemen of 90s Jersey Design." Each has its own qualities that conveys their markets in their own ways. I know a lot of people hate the Robopen, but I love it, especially the white one, and have childhood memories attached to it. As for the Avs and Stars, those 2 teams had the best designs IMO of the 90s. Just perfect branding.
Canes definitely made a jersey that feels like an NC jersey too. I know people love to joke with us North Carolinians about "ooh gotta catch the NASCAR race Saturday," and NASCAR does have its place in our culture, but we've kinda moved away from NASCAR and it's been replaced by basketball and football, but hockey's starting to really gain traction. The bold lettering, reminiscent of NASCAR, really adds an NC flavor to the OG's that is lost on our current set. I've got 3 OG Canes jerseys, 2 in red 1 in white, and out of all of em in my collection I love them the most. 90s definitely are my favorite decade for jerseys
I am from the future, and 90s is still the best.
I'm a Caps fan and I completely agree with you guys. The 2007 rebrand was cool when it happened, but man they are tired now. Need to update them. The last Reverse Retro would be a good start.
I’d love the see the Eagle design tried with their current color scheme.
Make a white version of the RR and call it a day, honestly. It's no wonder Washington had the best selling Reverse Retro when it looked this sharp
@@estellegrignon I definitely agree. Stick with the red, white, and blue, but go with the screaming eagle.
Corwin with the Summit Ice t-shirt very nice!
Good to know that Corwin DOES NOT deny the Holocaust
You gotta admit though....the Detroit Vipers' logo is so sick.
💯 % agree with the list!! 90’s are amazing!!
I think the Blues have stayed at the top of their jersey game since they became a team.
I’ll agree with Corwin’s take on the current decade. I don’t think there’s any jersey this year that I don’t like.
Gotta love Corwin’s Summit Ice shirt
Love that Ducks jersey Jesse is wearing! That is the best ever for sure.
Very underrated jersey as most people tend to have forgotten about them.
The sharks 2014 stadium series and the wild Reebok alternate are awesome
I loved a bunch of the jerseys from the 2000s era jerseys. I would kill for a diagonal Bolts jersey
The reversed nordique with colorado colors looks awesome
Now that I think of it, the mid 2000s rebrand for Anaheim DID work out. They won the cup after the switch!
Was your audio engineer on PCP or something mixing this? What the hell is the random thumping noise?
Do a tier list of jerseys from movies and tv
One of the best current jerseys that should be in the top of the 20’s is the Canes alternate flag jersey
You guys should let Jesse rank NHL players’ body parts next.
I almost totally agree, but I really liked the design concepts of the 70s, would've tied it with the 80s personally. Had also thought the 00s would rank lower than the 10s, but that was a really good point about the 00s having higher highs than the 10s which were just pretty okay to boring at best
The goat head Sabres logo is my favorite of all time and it's never referenced or appears anywhere and i have no idea why
17:02 "Look at these Kings ones" had me in tears 🤣🤣
The Nashville 3rd jersey was so good
You gotta rank jerseys per decade not just the decade itself. I need this to be a 10 part series
I think you guys should've done a pre and post-reebok split. Most of the 2000s designs were still really solid before the Edge system absolutely destroyed teams like Dallas, Toronto, Tampa, Ottawa, and Colorado. Even if most of those designs were still carried over from the 90s the Star jersey for Dallas is definitely a 2000s product since it was first used as an alternate in 97 but became the home and road after the Cup win.
Hate me, but I love the Penguins metalic gold jerseys from the 2000s. Although I dislike the Penguins, that jersey with that logo always catches my attention.
Jesse's sweater choice *chef's kiss*
Nashville’s navy 3rd jerseys were fire
straight up though, from about 1990 -2005, greatest era for jerseys. Which then slid into the 2006-2016 era which was the worst ear for jerseys
The flying V canucks jersey is my second favorite Canucks jersey as there current one is my favorite (I'm a huge Canucks fan)
Like the video. Like the conversation. But that audio level.....
I think the Avs current alt (the C mountain) and the Hurricanes now home (the black jersey) are absolutely gorgeous.
I cannot lie I loved the 2010s wild jersey. Easily my favorite jersey from my team, besides the reverse retro
the Summit Ice shirt 🔥
Any chance Z gets to put the Whalers mall footage in, he's taking it
Lol…life long bruins fan but I still love those whalers jerseys….just awesome.
Z, Caps fans liked the Rock The Red rebrand for a while. But it’s been 15 years and they are so outdated at this point, I think most of us just want to go back to the screaming eagle
Agreed as a Caps fan, it's just a bit stale at this point.
I want to keep the red white and blue but give me back the screaming eagle. Make reverse retro from ‘20 the permanent home threads!
I just want them to go back to the original red white and blue jerseys. They had them both as alternates for a while, and now they are both completely gone. Those were easily their best looking jerseys. Bring the original home and aways back, and a third jersey with the screaming eagle on it
I actually agree with corwin for once, 2020's are the best area of jerseys so far. They took elite designs and made them look even better
Edit: It is unfortunate adidas is leaving the nhl in a few years though...
I agree with Corwin on this Era
ACTUALLY VERY ACCURATE LIST
there's only two points that I'd say I disagree with here:
1. besides the weird fisherman logo, that 90's Islanders jersey is dope. the colors are really nice, I love everything about that jersey outside of the logo, which imo doesn't ruin it.
2. the 2000's Pittsburgh jersey you mentioned is one of my absolute favorites of theirs, and I know you mentioned that they muted the yellow, but I don't think they would have looked as good with yellow instead of the gold. skating penguin on the chest, robo pen on the shoulders, and I love the diagonal sections on the sides of the body. I'm not a huge fan of the redesign when Reebok took over in the late 2010's, but that brief window from Lemieux's comeback until Crosby's first season or two where these were their primary jersey was nice.
When fanatics takes over we could easily look back at the adidas era and say it was the best era of jerseys.
90s era has the most iconic ones imo
WE NEED MORE TIER LIST VIDEOS
I respect Corwin's hot take and effort to go against the grain. However , I won't lie, as soon as he said 2020s is the best era, I couldn't hold back the ''Get em' , Z!''. Awesome discussion, good job boys.
ngl. 00’s were in my top 2 fav eras.
Where is any talk about the Orca. Literally became a Canucks fan because I loved the original white orca from the early 2000’s
I need to know where they grade the Dallas Stars “Mooterus” jerseys.
3:23 A god damn Def Jam Fight For NY reference?!
13:01 Jesse, it’s the Capital Building in that Caps jersey
Is this a TSN video or Apple commercial?
2020s Sabres and sens jerseys are super clean
Chicago’s black alternates got slept on majorly
The attack on the Detroit Vipers jersey was a personal one. Long live the viper!
The Avs did use that font in their first year.
Those Dallas jerseys with the word across the chest with the number on the front just looks like a college hockey jersey.
This might differ from popular opinion but I actually liked the old Penguins jerseys when Crosby was breaking in. Might just be because that’s what I grew up with before they switched back to their old jerseys.
Like the old school pads
No talk about Vegas or Seattle!!! Both sickkkk jerseys
Jesses take on the 2000s I completely agree
