Starcastle was always a guilty pleasure for me. The criticism from prog purists was that they were a group of Yes wannabes, but as a devoted Yes fan I appreciated the fact that they used Yes as strong influence and skewed just slightly toward the rock side of prog rock. FOL was indeed a classic (so imagine our embarrassment when their record company forced them into an unsuccessful commercial lane with the execrable “Reel to Real,” which killed the band). I particularly loved their rhythm section; the bassist managed to nail the Chris Squire sound and technique (I forget his name - he passed away a few years ago). For an album or two, they were, to me, shining stars in the prog pantheon. I also wish someone had remastered the albums for CD re-release because the CDs were simply vinyl masters transferred to CD, which sound like crapola, RTB production or not!
Great show thanks Scott! Heldon's 'Stand By' would be a great fit into this! Combining Fripp-esque guitartronics , ambient yet scary soundscapes, and freeform composition, 'Stand By' is a direct line to wonderful IDM artists like Aphex Twin and Autechre, as well as prog/fusion minded hip hop artists like EL-P and Madlib.
Hey Scot ! I think the album that hasn't aged one bit is the 1st King Crimson album . You would release that album today exactly as is and it would make a huge impact on the world of Prog. It is still the greatest Prog. release ever in my opinion. Thanks for mentioning Happy the Man, they are one of my fav. Prog bands of all time!

"Moonmadness" and "Three Friends" I lump together in this category, because I got them at the same time and both were my introductions to their respective bands. Was quite underwhelmed by both initially, but now absolutely love them and cannot figure out why I didn't take to them when I was younger. I actually just listened to "Fandangos In Space" a couple weeks ago! Posted it on Prog Collectors. Fully agree on "The Story Of i". I LOVE it, but wasn't quite sure back in those days. I would add YES "Drama" to this list, because I think it's the YES album that has taken the biggest swing on the Got Better With Age Pendulum. Thought it was ok back in the early 80s, and totally love it now!!
Drama is the correct Yes album in this category for me too. I liked it. But in 1980 I had already kinda moved on. Tormato broke my heart. Love Beach broke my heart. Ditto And Then There Were Three. But upon further review: Drama is fabulous.
Really cool video today, great topic and great choices! Most of these I do know quite well and really enjoy, but there are some that I have not heard and need to check out (Gypsy, Area, Greenslade, Carmen), as well as a few that I heard long ago and need to revisit (Patrick Moraz, Rush, Sebastian Hordie, UK). I'm sure there are any others that cold fit this category, but this is a fine list.

Thanks, Scott, for this great list. Made a playlist of those that aren't high on my listening radar so they can be heard more with likely purchase in mind. Really enjoying you channel.
Nice one Scot!! Caress of Steel has always been a favorite of mine! I'm a day 1 Rush fan and still remember as a 16 yr old walking out of Records On Wheels in Burlington ON with "Archives" 3 album set (their 1st 3 LPs) under my arm for $5.99. Fountain Of Lamneth still one of my top 5 Rush tracks. The Necromancer a classic too "3 travelers, men of Willowdale" awesome. Cheers!
I've become a huge fan of Nektar in the last year, although A Tab In The Ocean is one of the few early albums I have not heard yet. I've really grown to appreciate "Down To Earth" also, which I did not like on first listen. It might actually be my favorite of the albums I've heard.
Thrilled to discover what the album in your number 1 position was. For a while in the 70s that was my declared favourite album ever. What an incredible work.
Thanks for the memories. Lived in Waukesha and spent a lot of money at Mainstream and Peaches on Fond du lac ave. Used to go down to Marquette and pick up subs from Cousins.
With you on tons of these!! Moonmadness is tied with Mirage as my favourite Camel release. Hi Scot, I reckon 'Pathfinder' by Beggars Opera is worth a vote. Been getting better for the 40 odd years I've been hearing it. Keep up the great work, love the channel.
Great video and great idea for a video. You're such an inspiration. Sandinista would be my choice for this category by The Clash. I didn't know how to digest it as a teenager. 40 years later ... and I see it as a prog-punk-funk-rock masterpiece.
I had no idea that Happy the Man was putting out new material. That’s great news! Also… I love Starcastle. That band and Druid sound a ton like Yes. I love all of it. Thanks for the video Scot! 👍
I dont know how I missed this video. I enjoy your videos a lot. There are several albums on your list I'll be checking out. I also liked that you included a few that don't get the recognition they deserve. (Danger Money, Islands & Caress of Steel) These are top notch albums that need more attention. I would add a few underrated albums to my list: Hergest Ridge by Mike Oldfield-(the original mix) I think this one is right up there with Tubular Bells. Epsolon in Malasian Pale by Edgar froese- (again the original mix). A great companion piece to Tangerine Dream's Rubicon. Manfred Mann's Earth Band The Good Earth.- I think this is terribly underrated.
As a Milwaukee native I didn’t expect to hear a Mainstream shout out this morning. Crazy enough, I just picked up a King Crimson record last night that still had the Mainstream sleeve on it!
Always appreciate it when you bring some obscure albums to light. What's the go with Islands album cover? Was that a US release as I've only seen the nebula cover?
Totally agree... Stop it! My disinterest is history since it's been reborn and I've been exploring. I've bought multiple.... Spock's Beard, IQ, Renaissance, Strawbs. Next is Ellesmere 'Stranger Skies', I 'need' much more... Is there a 'help' site? 'Prog anonymous?'
It’s Awesome that you brought up Nektar’s “ A Tab “….. Thanks to Pete Pardo, I discovered that album about 2 years ago. I fell in love with it immediately, especially that incredible title track. It’s an intoxicating long, epic journey that I’ve listened to religiously. And Kudos to both “ Olias “ ( Anderson’s finest solo work, imo ), and “ Danger Money “, which I thinks as good as the UK debut. Now, Gypsy is a band that I’ve been totally interested in, but have found to be rather elusive because of expense or availability. But I’ll give them another shot. I feel the need to have something those guys. Thanks !
Thanks Scott. Lot of work but just abt finished. Now I need another one for second teer prog bands like supertramp, Kansas, starcastle, etc…. Enjoy your shows , especially the ones with your guests. Take care art
i remember being totally baffled by the story of i as a 16 yr old when it came out......now I'm giving it a listen again thanks to the Unparalled Prog Corner and loving it- so much so, I'll work my way through the rest of the list over the next day or two...... Thanks and best wishes from Durham, UK
Those albums have made my mouth water. the second Gypsy album 'In The Garden' is terrific too, as is the Sebastian Hardie sister album Symphinity by Windchase.
Hey Scot. Really enjoyed this one. Some really great albums in this lot including one of my favourites from my least favourite Genesis member. Smallcreeps Day will always be a very special album for me. It’s a shame the rest of his individual solo career was so full of poop. He was indeed Acting very Strange
Hey Scot, Another intriguing list. I had a cassette copy of Olias Of Sunhillow way back when. Don't know what happened to it. As for Happy The Man, I've been meaning to check out some of their discography, but have been distracted by other music. One day, though. Nektar I remember from hearing Remember The Future pretty frequently on FM rock radio in the 70's. King Crimson is probably my favorite British prog band of all time, but I'm not familiar with everything they've done. Maybe I'll check out Islands one day. I could use copies of Starless And Bible Black and Discipline for my collection. And you said you're doing a show on Kansas? I gotta say, Kansas doesn't do anything for me. Maybe Dust In The Wind and its video poisoned me against them. I ended up making fun of that song: "I close my eyes/only for a moment/and I cannot see/Dust in a bin/all we are is dust in a bin..." Anyway, enjoyed watching.
WOW! I am always a bit surprised when a YT prog channel mentions any Italian prog. For some reason, Italian prog seems to have kind of been forgotten by so many prog fans. And the truth is, Italy produced ( and still produces) prog that is the equal of their better known Brit counterparts. So, bravo! I agree with about half of your list overall. But for me, the stuff that seems to get better and better, are bands in the avant-prog subgenre, like: Univers Zero, Henry Cow, Samla Mammas Manna, Art Zoyd, etc. And also, bands in the Zeuhl subgenre: Magma, Eskaton, Zao, Shub-Niggurath, Potempkine, Ruins, Honeyelk, etc.
Oh you swim in the deep end of the Prog pool!!! Nice. I am a huge fan of Italian Prog. It’s my passion. The RIO and Zeuhl bands sometimes fly over my head but I LOVE Henry Cow and Univers Zero…
A couple of fine albums I didn't get at first but now 'dig' include VdGG's Quiet Zone/Pleasure Dome, REM's Murmur when it first came out (took it back to the shop to exchange) and Scott walker's Soused. Even Tilt made more sense, so I forgot about it for ages. Went back recently and found it's pretty good and the riffing works. The Drift is still wanky awfulness, though.
Islands is a great pick, im going with 'Red Queen to Gryphon Three' as my pick. Another one (Very Obscure, i wonder if Scot has even heard of it..) PICTURES by Island. An incredibly dense record. I love it though! Either way, great video scot!
Interesting list Scot.I always felt the 2nd UK album tends to get overlooked by fans and critics possibly because Bruford and Holdsworth left the band before it was recorded. The debut was superb but so is Danger Money especially the epic Carrying No Cross. It showcases Jobson's keyboard skills even more than the debut.
Wow "Carmen Fandagos in space" very cool to see this phenomonal album popping up , great greeeeat album, sure it is not number one? Thank you bringing this album to the people that watch the Prog Corner.... by the way "Dancing on a cold wind" is another great "Carmen' album Olééééé
To be brutally honest , I've never seen that Moonmadness album sleeve before..and hope I never do again !! 😅 An awesome album though. Danger money UK absolutely love that. That Starcastle LP... it's just WOW !! And the Moraz album Scot is just amazing.. suppose it could be hailed as the best YES solo album of sorts but Olias of Sunhillow must take the prize for me. It's also the one I've probably listened to most of those solo albums. Fantastic selection there Scot ! 😍
I heard the first album of Carmen and I liked it, it's a bit different from the usual prog rock sound but Tony Visconti makes miracles, very Good. Gipsy's first album as I suggested I already have heard the double album, it's excellent!!! I even have a post here on UA-cam about it four years ago!! See you Scot and thanks again!!!! Ah! I forgot Area's "Crac!" was very good, I remember when it came in the mid-seventies!!!
@TheProgCorner It's not my favorite album but I thought you would pick Dark Side of the Moon. I is an interesting surprise. I did wear the grooves out of it. One of those used bin hidden treasures. Thank God for the used bin and impatient listeners🙂

Hi. Have you ever listened to "Bacamarte" album "depois do fim"? It came out in 1983 and I think it aged well, also. If you have not listened, I suggest you to try it. It is a Brazilian prog rock with female vocals, in portuguese.
I love it!!! I’m working my way through as many Brazilian Prog bands as I can - and Bacamarte was at the top of the list!!!
10 місяців тому+1
@@TheProgCorner nice to know that! "O terço", "Tau Ceti", "Casa das máquinas" and "Mutantes" are other brazilian prog bands you might like to try. Cheers.
@@TheProgCorner be welcome, Dude. It would be nice to have a video showing your view about these brazilian bands. Something quite out of the ordinary prog menu that we love worldwidely. Just a sugestion. Take care!
I was just listening to Greenslade recently. Thanks for Gentle Giant. it's a really amazing band overall! I'll definitely consider these other picks when i get the chance, thanks PC! 👌👌
Danger Money is the go to UK album for me. AOR / radio friendly / prog whatever you call it at its absolute best. Monstrous album without a bad song on it that heralds the way that Wetton's search for a hit single would go, and what Asia would become. I remember being blown away by Jobson on first listen too. What a talent that man is. Great choice of Pat Moraz at #1. The sort of album you find a detail you missed before every time you listen to it. My copy was signed by the man himself before a Moodies gig in Manchester in the 80s where we had a chance to talk with him for ages. What a lovely guy. We later ran into the guys when their tour bus pulled up at a fish and chip shop we'd stopped at - what a laugh!
Great video Scot!!!! Some albums I just didn't remember for a long time!!! Like "Smallcreep's Day " by Mike Rutherford or the number one from Patrick Moraz!! Great albums, including Starcastle, Nektar, Greenslade, Camel's "Moonmadness" (such an ugly US cover!! Thank God I have the European cover), and Jon Anderson's "Olias of Sunhillow" is great. I'm not sure I heard Gipsy but I will and Carmen (I knew John Glascock was a member) perhaps one or two tracks. I'll revisit it. Great man, you rock!!! Greetings, salutations, respect!!!!
Great list, Scott! I love Olias, Danger Money, and pretty much all the rest. One thing about Smallcreeps Day; it always reminds me of Machine Messiah from the Yes album Drama; maybe both inspired by the same story Where can I get a cool t shirt like that ?😀
I loved that StarCastle album. It was like a new YES record at the time. But in retrospect, I feel it doesn't hold up. It's like the band listened to certain sections of 'Relayer" and wrote an entire album based on that. Islands? I'll have to listen to that again. I haven't since 1976.
I just saw where Rick Wakeman is retiring from live touring after his last concert tour coming up here shortly. Amazing that he has been active for so long!🤩
Just a few comments: Sebastian Hardie is great. I think Mario Millo is awesome - Windchase, his solo album Epic lll! (Title track is my favorite piece of Aussie prog). Olias - 1st new age album! 😄 Area - some people have a very narrow view of what prog is! Danger Money - great album! UK broke up because Eddie wanted longer songs, John wanted shorter songs. Starcastle - 1st band I ever saw live, they opened for Gentle Giant in Seattle in 77. Awesome show! They're obviously influenced by Yes, but still great with their own style. Smallcreep's Day - great album. When it came out, Steve Hackett called up Mike to congratulate him, but was surprised when Mike said he doesn't really like the album. That's always puzzled me. Islands - I've always loved this, didn't know why it doesn't get the love it deserves.
Hi Scot. My copy of the Regna album arrived in the post today (ordered on Bandcamp and sent from Spain). Terrific album🥰 I have a content suggestion for you sir. How about a 'what I've been listening to this week' show? You could cover new stuff that you're checking out, plus older stuff, obscure stuff or prog adjacent stuff that prog fans may like. Basically, a rundown of what you've been spinning. The show could last 10 minutes, or if you want to discuss some bands or albums in a little more depth make it 20 or 30 minutes. Anything goes. You make the rules. Peace, Love, and Respect sir🤘🏻
I’ve been thinking about that. At first I wanted to make it a part of the Sunday Prog Stream but it felt disjointed there. So yeah, a weekly show would probably do the trick…
The interesting part about this list is the majority of these albums are overlooked. The albums everyone knows about are usually no-brainers. Of course they have aged well. So this is the list that needed to be made and compelling choices were made. Sebastian Hardie Four Moments was one I only discovered just over a couple of years ago. I was really stunned how old it was. I was actually born in 76. The production is great. I thought it was a newer album trying to sound retro.
Just listened to Ellesmere's Wyrd (you said you liked) and Stranger Skies for the second time. Didn't get Wyrd... vocal 'light' so no story, and though I love harmonious discord, I only got discord! Stranger Skies though has gone from 'like it' to GREAT! I mentioned the spectacular video seemingly suggesting it was about the seeding of life... I thought Panspermia would have been a fabulous album title but Mr Google tells me it's been done. Very disappointed at you not playing the music we love on your great channel! As a 'newbie' I didn't know even one of those albums so it was impossible to relate.
Kansas' first six albums: Debut Song For America Masque Leftoverture Point Of Know Return Monolith Supertramp's 4 album run: Crime Of The Century Crisis ? What Crisis? Even In The Quietest Moments Breakfast In America Rush: Permanent Waves A Farewell To Kings Moving Pictures 2112 Kerry Livgren: Seeds Of Change So many more to name...
I love "Islands" it's my favorite King Crimson album it's great Formentera Lady into Sailors Tale is a trip thru space and time, Ladies Of The Road...(did The Beatles sneek into the studio for the chorus hahaha) Islands IMO had Mel Collins best work, Meltdown: Live in Mexico my second favorite Crimson album the best they ever sounded live.
Thanks you very much for this, some interesting suggestions for my "prog research".... Honestly I don't think album like "Moonmadness" and "a Tab in the ocean" never got "old" for a prog fan 😉
couple come to mind for me; frank zappa the man from utopia. jethro tull roots to branches. claypool lennon delirium, both albums. jeff beck blow by blow. porcupine tree deadwing. steven wilson grace for drowning. roxy music debut. curtis mayfield, debut album. thanks scot.
Rush was my gateway into prog, and I 100% agree about Caress of Steel being underrated and one that's aged incredibly well. Honestly I personally rate it higher than 2112, I know that's a hot take but it's my take so there. Just a great album front to back. And I also agree that Grace Under Pressure is really underappreciated, but honestly I don't think there's a single album from them that's less than good. Even their weaker albums have some highlights and are enjoyable overall.
I love Smallcreep's Day as well, but I never thought the "suite" worked as one. A genuine suite needs to have more than just a bunch of songs, the songs should also segue into each other and be incomplete outside the context of the work. All the songs from the SD suite seem like separate songs, they don't fit together into a whole the same way, say, Supper's Ready does.
@@TheProgCorner i dont know if you remember a record store ever called starship records, that store changed names to vinyl vault and moved to a different building
Great to see Greenslade in there, have always loved it since I saw them in Sheffield. Have to seriously disagree that Olias of Sunhillow is better than Fish out of Water ! Squires solo effort was by far the best, showing that he was far more than just a bassist. Pawn Hearts by VdGG is my personal favourite that just keeps getting better. It was brilliant from day one but is now on a level completely on it's own.
When I bought Pawn at age 13 I thought it was either the best album ever or the worst album ever ! Luckily I persevered with it and it is definitely the best ever.@@TheProgCorner
If I have to pick only one prog album that has aged well it would be Rush's Hold Your Fire. It's a showcase why they're the braviest band in the genre...
Thanks for including Starcastle in your list. Their second album, Fountains of Light, is the one that has aged very well over time for me.
That sweet Roy Thomas Baker production!!!!

Well, either works for me. But, I’m pretty sure most will know my preference between the two. 💖

Dammit! Every time I watch one of your videos, I find something "new" I have to buy!
Oh no!!!!!!
We can get through this as a family…
I am off to the CD store AKA Amaz%% for some shopping
Thanks !
Gypsy were a very cool band that made a lot of bad decisions. They should have been big!!!
Great list Scot.Freaked me out with Gypsy great band
You know I like surprises!!!
Great show. I have and listen to all of those. My prog bin is almost complete. Take care art
I saw your Prog bin!!! Like a record store!!! So cool.
Thanks Scott. Lot of work but just abt finished. Now I need another one for second teer prog bands like supertramp, Kansas, starcastle, etc…. Enjoy your shows , especially the ones with your guests. Take care art
Maybe we can get you on the Sunday live show one of these days…
Sounds good. Just let me know thx Scott. Art
Great video man! I love Smallcreep's Day!
Such a great album.
i remember being totally baffled by the story of i as a 16 yr old when it came out......now I'm giving it a listen again thanks to the Unparalled Prog Corner and loving it-
so much so, I'll work my way through the rest of the list over the next day or two......
Thanks and best wishes from Durham, UK
Thank you, Paul!!!
Those albums have made my mouth water. the second Gypsy album 'In The Garden' is terrific too, as is the Sebastian Hardie sister album Symphinity by Windchase.
Two great sophomore releases!!!!! Definitely.
Great video! I penned down all the albums that I don't know, and became a subscriber to your channel.
Nice!!! Thank you!!!
Hey Scot. Really enjoyed this one. Some really great albums in this lot including one of my favourites from my least favourite Genesis member. Smallcreeps Day will always be a very special album for me. It’s a shame the rest of his individual solo career was so full of poop. He was indeed Acting very Strange
It’s his only good record. Not a fan of Mike + The Mechanics either…
Great list, but still need to check some of this out :)
I can only attest to Olias and Moraz. Oh. And Island. Brilliant works. Looking forward to hearing the others.
Absolutely x
With the years passing by I began to believe that nobody knows Moraz and Olias of Sunhillow except me, no I feel better! Célestin
You are not alone, friend. I am here!!!
Hey Scot,
Another intriguing list.
Don’t let Dust In The Wind poison you against Kansas!!!!
Tab in the Ocean! Such a great album, Nektar is so underrated 👍
They are!!!
Nice!!!! That VDGG album is exactly what I was talking about here!!!
Islands is a great pick, im going with 'Red Queen to Gryphon Three' as my pick. Another one (Very Obscure, i wonder if Scot has even heard of it..) PICTURES by Island. An incredibly dense record. I love it though! Either way, great video scot!
Island!!! Great Swiss band. And that album cover for Pictures. Amazing.
What list! Amazing. Huge albums.
👍👍👍
Interesting list Scot.I always felt the 2nd UK album tends to get overlooked by fans and critics possibly because Bruford and Holdsworth left the band before it was recorded. The debut was superb but so is Danger Money especially the epic Carrying No Cross. It showcases Jobson's keyboard skills even more than the debut.
And it rocks harder!!!! It’s just stellar. Both albums are 10/10 for me though.
I recently heard Smallcreep's Day on here and love it! I'm need to buy the CD.
Really good album!!!
Wow "Carmen Fandagos in space" very cool to see this phenomonal album popping up , great greeeeat album, sure it is not number one?
Thank you bringing this album to the people that watch the Prog Corner.... by the way "Dancing on a cold wind" is another great "Carmen' album
Olééééé
So much fun. Great band!!!!
Re the "Moonmadness" cover, I actually prefer the camel in a spacesuit version.
I had to put Moraz in the top spot. Imagine if that record came out today. People would FREAK OUT.
Thank you!!!!!
Your enthusiasm Scot is infectious 😉🤟🏻
Thank you!!!!!
The side long epic on 'Smallcreep's Day' is on Side 1, the shorter tracks on Side 2.
I had it on cassette back in the day. That might explain my confusion!!!!
STILL LIFE! The older we get the more we can relate to an album with the theme of mortality. The most difficult subject handled so well!
Someone suggested The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome but I think Still Life fits the bill even better!!!
@@TheProgCorner nice to know that! "O terço", "Tau Ceti", "Casa das máquinas" and "Mutantes" are other brazilian prog bands you might like to try. Cheers.
Thank you!!!!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
@@TheProgCorner be welcome, Dude. It would be nice to have a video showing your view about these brazilian bands. Something quite out of the ordinary prog menu that we love worldwidely. Just a sugestion. Take care!
No, it’s coming!!! I’ve done something similar for: Norway, Sweden, Japan, Holland, Poland and Italy. Brazil is happening soon.
I was just listening to Greenslade recently. Thanks for Gentle Giant. it's a really amazing band overall!
I'll definitely consider these other picks when i get the chance, thanks PC! 👌👌
Thank you, JoJo!!!
Wow!!!! Fish and chips with the Moodies!!!!
Thanks, Antonio!!! 👍👍👍❤️❤️
Great list, Scott! I love Olias, Danger Money, and pretty much all the rest. One thing about Smallcreeps Day; it always reminds me of Machine Messiah from the Yes album Drama; maybe both inspired by the same story
Where can I get a cool t shirt like that ?😀
The Creepy Company!!!
For you, Scot, I will give Islands another spin. It’s at the bottom of my Crimson list, but you’re a man of taste.
I was unsure about this one for a long time but I have come around!!! Let me know!!
Interesting stuff. Check out Fusion Orchestra - “Skeleton in Armour”.
Hmmm. Sounds interesting.
Good call on Patrick Moraz! Great album!!
I had to put it at #1. Just had to!!!
I loved that StarCastle album. It was like a new YES record at the time. But in retrospect, I feel it doesn't hold up. It's like the band listened to certain sections of 'Relayer" and wrote an entire album based on that. Islands? I'll have to listen to that again. I haven't since 1976.
I’m glad I didn’t give up on Islands because it’s pretty great!!!
I just saw where Rick Wakeman is retiring from live touring after his last concert tour coming up here shortly. Amazing that he has been active for so long!🤩
He’ll be baaaaaack!!!
Just a few comments:
Sebastian Hardie is great. I think Mario Millo is awesome - Windchase, his solo album Epic lll! (Title track is my favorite piece of Aussie prog).
Olias - 1st new age album! 😄
Area - some people have a very narrow view of what prog is!
Thank you!!! Mike Rutherford was acting very strange???
@@TheProgCorner I guess so!
Hi Scot. My copy of the Regna album arrived in the post today (ordered on Bandcamp and sent from Spain). Terrific album🥰
I have a content suggestion for you sir.
So yeah, a weekly show would probably do the trick…
it's good to talk about things that aged well. much more positive than what other reviewers do.
I usually keep it positive…
The interesting part about this list is the majority of these albums are overlooked. The albums everyone knows about are usually no-brainers. Of course they have aged well. So this is the list that needed to be made and compelling choices were made.
Sebastian Hardie Four Moments was one I only discovered just over a couple of years ago. I was really stunned how old it was. I was actually born in 76. The production is great. I thought it was a newer album trying to sound retro.
Four Moments is a masterpiece!!!
Maybe some day!!!!
So that's a 'no' then. Boo hoo! I've adjusted my comment above. 'Panspermia' was the album title I was thinking of.
Cool...gonna check all these out...I know about 6 of them but loads here I dont know..👍
Awesome!!!! That’s the whole idea!!!
Moraz album was ahead of its time 🤟🏻 always loved it amazing album
Prog rock albums that have stood the test of time...hmmm...yup. All of them.
That’s about right!!!
Checkmate!😂
Got to agree with Caress of Steel - very overlooked in the Rush catalogue
I agree 100%!!!
Kansas' first six albums:
Debut
Song For America
Masque
Leftoverture
Point Of Know Return
Monolith
Supertramp's 4 album run:
Crime Of The Century
Crisis ? What Crisis?
Even In The Quietest Moments
Breakfast In America
Rush:
Permanent Waves
A Farewell To Kings
Moving Pictures
2112
Kerry Livgren: Seeds Of Change
So many more to name...
I’m glad you included Monolith.
I saw Carmen back in 1973 when the6 played Margate ,Kent and after they had publicity from David Bowie . I remember that they were very LOUD !
Nice!!! Sounds memorable.
Amazing band!!!
How about prog albums that haven't aged well? Like Fly Away by the German band Minotaurus for example. YMMV
That could be a fun episode!!!
Thanks you very much for this, some interesting suggestions for my "prog research".... Honestly I don't think album like "Moonmadness" and "a Tab in the ocean" never got "old" for a prog fan 😉
👍👍👍
couple come to mind for me; frank zappa the man from utopia. jethro tull roots to branches. claypool lennon delirium, both albums. jeff beck blow by blow. porcupine tree deadwing. steven wilson grace for drowning. roxy music debut. curtis mayfield, debut album. thanks scot.
Roots To Branches. Perfect example.
Great seeing Greenslade get a mention
Oh yeah!!!
That’s Rush!!! Even their “worst”’albums have amazing songs…
Rush man, yeah now you're talkin!!
No doubt. It’s a different kind of epic but I think it works. I didn’t think that way for years!!!! I have had a change of heart!!!
Have to put Kingcrimson In The Court as an ageless record. Still sounds groundbreaking.
Excellent!!!
dude no way i got my copy of starcastles self titled from vinyl vault records in downtown waukesha about a year ago lol
That’s crazy!!!! What a weird and wonderful world we live in.
I always loved Pawn Hearts!!!
When I bought Pawn at age 13 I thought it was either the best album ever or the worst album ever ! Luckily I persevered with it and it is definitely the best ever.@@TheProgCorner
Exactly!!!
Amazing how Prog has endured and it helps that channels like yours are there.@@TheProgCorner
Keeping the Prog flames burning bright!!!
If I have to pick only one prog album that has aged well it would be Rush's Hold Your Fire. It's a showcase why they're the braviest band in the genre...
That’s an interesting suggestion. But I think I have to agree…
I LOVE Danger Money!!!
You know what time it is!!!
Always loved Islands. Too bad this is the only album this configuration produced. I'd loved to have heard a follow up.
No doubt but I can’t complain about what came next!!!
@@TheProgCorner So true!
Almost every album is in my collection. Danger Money from UK forever. You know that. See my thumbnail.
Exactly!!! Says it all. Like mine…
Guess you heard by now...
Melanie tribute video: ua-cam.com/video/-hBor1w57Bc/v-deo.html
She was awesome!!!!
In my mind there is a far wider range of albums that have aged well. No matter what Yes album I listen to it's fresh every time I hear it.
That’s for sure!!!
But unfortunately after 2 yrs I'm gonna have to concede. I finally came around to the fact that Union has no longevity.
Miracle Of Life is fab. The rest? Not so much…
That track would be Saving My Heart for me.
Agitation Free 2nd.... Eloy Planets.... Gong You.... Between And The Waters Opened. ..
Wow!!! I agree with all the above.
What about windchase one off symphinity a missed classic!
A good one!!!
🤩
Fandangos in Space!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it!!!!
I think Yes's Drama gets better as the years pass, my personal favourite of theres
Definitely!!!!
Leftoverture by Kansas!!
Nice. Kansas rules!!!
10+ groups I've never even heard of...
That’s awesome!!! 👍👍👍
