GEORDIE GREEP!! What a find! I'm ordering a Geordie Greep album AND a Gentle Giant hat now! Thanks Scott! You're a fun character! Enjoy you greatly! Peace!
Thanks you so much for including Oddleaf, wow !!! 😮 As a newcomer band, we feel very honored to find ourselves amongst these other gorgeous artists ! 😍
What a gorgeous year, nice releases ... Thank you .. Geordie Greep - Wow, I heard them now in YT, stunning mixture of a little bit Zappa, Latin, Funk, Rock - so much influences. Or Oddleaf, wonderful first release from our neighbourhood. Very nice symphonic Retro-Prog, Wonderful christmas-time and a stunning new year 2025. A bunch of respect and love to you. Scott. Let's prog the world ..
Thanks much for including us! That's some amazing company! I think I know the entire top-25 but will have to dig in a bit to the honourable mentions! Next record we'll do a vinyl pressing and crack the top-10 😊
@TheProgCorner did you listen to "Fym" by Azure this year? The only album i was surprised to not see on the list. Great indie symphonic prog concept album.
Ritual is not my #1, but in my top five. Surprised how good it is. I have more prog metal titles in my ranking than you. If I just ranked prog rock, Ritual would be #1. Perfect album.
finally ! I looked up a few prog 2024 tops and none had yet spotted "The story of Mr Bogd" wich is an awesome album by a VERY inventive band - thanks for that and the whole 50 list.

Somehow I still have so much homework… thanks Scot. Thanks a lot 😭 But seriously, great stuff. I haven’t closely listened to at least half the albums on your list, so it’s time.
Great list, quite a few I intend to try out. My favorite prog album of 2024 was Coming Up To Consciousness by Pure Reason Revolution, closely followed by Melodies of Atonement by Leprous. For a less obvious pick I loved Swiss instrumental proggers Monkey3's Welcome to the Machine.
hey Scot! I have another prog album recommendation released this year Vylet Pony's Monarch Of Monsters, it's a concept album with very HEAVY THEMES It might not be your kind of sound, the first tracks are quite "accessible" but after that the album gets weirder and weirder, great experience would love to see a review ❤️
Great job! Always so great to hear what you pick as the best of the year. I made a concerted effort to listen to more new albums this year and can say that, except for some of those near the bottom end of the top 50, I listened to just about every album you mentioned. And, as usual, many of your picks I agree with wholeheartedly, but many others, not at all. And I have to say that there were more that I disagreed with this year than in previous years, but that's how it goes (to each his own). Some in your top ten would not even make my top 50 (Greep, The Smile, Ellesmere, Opeth), but mostly, a great list. Great to see Link/Nesmith's Arcana get mentioned in the top 25, as it was one of my very favorites (top 5). But surprised to see Barock Project not make the top 25 (it was my absolute fave of the year). Albion's Lakeongs of the Elbid was another of my favorites that you didn't mention and that hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. Some others that will make my list but did not make yours include the albums from The Pineapple Thief, Kite Parade, Cen-Projekt, Azure, Mandoki Soulmates, and a few others, and where was the album from your Myth of Logic buddy? I'm still in the process of compiling my full list, but here is roughly what my top 15 are right now: 15.Joe Deninzon and Stratospheerius - Imposter! 14. Beardfish - Songs For Beating Hearts 13. The Pineapple Thief - It Leads to This 12. Neil Morse and The Resonance - No Hill For a Climber 11. Ritual - The Story of Mr. Bogd Part 1 10. Versa - A Voyage A Destination Part 2 9. Oddleaf - Where Ideal and Denial Collide 8. IZZ - Collapse the Wave 7. Rosalie Cunningham - To Shoot Another Day 6. Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks - True 5. Albion - Lakesongs of the Elbid 4. Cloud Cult - Alchemy Creek (OK, maybe not Prog, but kind of Symphonic folk prog, and brilliant) 3. Circe Link and Christian Nesmith - Arcana 2. Big Big Train - The Likes of Us 1. Barock Project - Time Voyager (Best album I heard all year)
@@TheProgCorner Cool! I took off some other non-prog albums from my list, but had to leave that one on, as it is one of my very favorites of the year - gets me every time. Was hoping you would do a non-prog list this year, some really good ones.
Just finished watching your 50-26. Not only do I feel bad for not knowing several of these bands (does not include one of my all time faves - Airbäg), but also, I am amazed at how good their album covers are.
Just finished the entire show and, as I eschew streaming music, my relatives and friends are going to be bankrupt this Christmas, buying me physical albums from your list. I may show mercy and limit it to your top ten. Thanks for revealing so many more bands for me to listen to. Like Jethro Tull's hit single I have spent too much time "Living In The Past".
Beneath the masts is my personal new #1 prog cut of the year so for that reason alone Big Big Train takes it for me. The Ritual album is astonishing however. Love it. This year has produced real greatness once again. The biggest surprise is just how interesting and indeed incredible The Smile are. Obviously as musicians we know how awesome they are , but just can't get enough of them , and as prolific as they have been this year the zone they're in is wicked man. Cheers Scot , awesome. 😍🎵🎵🤘
Great list Scot, many I knew , many I didn't! My AOTY over all and in Prog is Opeth. When my third favorite band of all time drops an album it going to be hard not to put it in the #1 slot.
So much good music, so little time. Of your top 50, I probably have four or five. Most bands I hadn't even heard of. ...I made a list to check out. Good to know that prog is thriving, despite the years of heavy criticism and general neglect.
As always, your top albums of the year list feels more like a list to check out since I haven't heard most of them, but I'll have to listen to some of them soon here! The ones here I did know were Life in the Wires (really fantastic album, still think I slightly prefer Milliontown and Falling Satellites but it's hard to go wrong with any Frost* release) and Wheels Within Wheels (first time hearing Meer and holy cow did some of those vocals blow me away, really exciting band there, glad I took the dive off of your recommendation there). Other albums you didn't mention even in your top 50 that I liked... Both Caligula's Horse and Myrath had early favorites, I don't think either quite reached the heights of prior albums but were still solid early year favorites. And in the "maybe not the most capital P Prog but I still count it" space, there's the new album from Simone Simons featuring Arjen Lucassen, I'm a sucker for anything he touches and when I listened to it for the first time just yesterday I really dug what I was hearing. But my two albums I think might have to be battling for the top spot are the new Leprous album, Melodies of Atonement (it took a bit for the second half or so of the album to grow on me but it really grew on me) and the new Nightwish album, Yesterwynde (was a bit skeptical because their last album kind of didn't do much for me, but this one really worked). ...Maybe that list is showing my more metal side a bit but ah well.
I had no idea Rosalie Cunningham had an album out. I loved Purson so I need to get on this! My top 3 are probably Opeth, Frost* and Azure (their album Fym needs more attention, it's really incredible). Thanks for the list, a lot that I missed this year!
Public service broadcasting at its finest. I don't have time to comment on every video but I want you to know how much I appreciate what you do, Scot. I thought I was doing well at keeping up with new releases this year, yet I've still come away from this video with a list of five albums I need to check out at some point this week!
Good work. I will seek out your recommendations and have a listen. Your facial expression on the thumbnail suggests that a scantily clad Miss Universe is comin’ atcha with lustful eyes, and the wife is out shopping.
Great list as usual Scott. I have to admit, and maybe you dont find them as Prog, but I expected The Cures newest album Songs Of A Lost World in the list. To me they wax Prog, but not everyone may feel that way. If you have not heard it yet, I highly recommend it to you. It is my album of the year beating all genres releases. On a side note as I know you like stuff outside of the Prog world, not sure if you like The Breeders, but Kim Deal (native to you in Ohio), released a solo album out of nowhere 2 weeks back. I honestly didnt expect this and even more so it grabbed a hold of me so fast that I can honestly say it somehow is my second fav this year in releases, which we were blessed with so many great albums. Dont forget Pineapple Theif, love their new album this year too!
I’m so behind, so behind, behind… on my new Prog release album listening. (Except for Opeth.) Thanks for giving me a lot of varied choices to check out! ~ Davey Cretin, from Cretin Classics.
For me the album of the year was basically set for months and months ago. Big Big Train just stole my heart this year completely. I’ve listened that album so many times that wife wonders If I listen Steven Wilson or Porcupine Tree ar all 😂 Well of course i do 😊 For me Opeth is top5 this year. There were quite many albums on this list that I hadn’t heard of but I’m gonna give them chance and play them all through
Thanks, Scot, as always. Lots of good stuff there. I will definitely have to check out that top selection as I have not heard it. Ritual here I come! I don't have a ranking, but I will make a quick listing of a few I've been enjoying (prog or adjacent/my tastes are still running retro space psyche) that I don't think I heard anywhere in your list. Rick Miller - One of the Many Solaris - Martian Chronicles III Acid Rooster - Hall of Mirrors Levitation Room - Strange Weather Quantum Fantay - Oneironauts Aliante - Anime Invisibili Cars in Space - Time Machine Aurora Clara - IV Magick Brother & Mystic Sister - Tarot Part 1 The Pineapple Thief - It Leads To This
Great year for Prog. Give you my top 5. 5. Big Big Train - The Likes of Us 4. Monkey 3 - Welcome to the Machine 3. The Flying Norsemen. I thought you might had them in the top 50. I'm a huge fan of Arabs in Aspic. Couldn't wait to spin TFN. 2. Neal Morse - No hill for a Climber. Would have been my number 1, however. 1. Opeth - The Last Will and Testament and absolute perfect 5 out 5 for me. Complete masterpiece. Can't wait to listen to some of your picks I haven't heard yet. Love the Prog corner man, keep it up.
My favorite Progs this year: Caligula's Horse - Charcoal Grace, Klone - The Unseen, Leprous - Melodies Of Atonement, The Pineapple Thief - It Leads To This and Vanden Plas - The Empyrean Equation Of The Long Lost Things. Keep Proggin'
I am not familiar with some of your selections will have to check out. At this point my vote for number one is Big Big Train “ The likes of us” absolutely brilliant music. Prog on.
I bookmarked this video, because I need to check out as many of these as possible. It might take a while, I don't always have a lot of time, but this is my homework for 2025.
Snuck right in there. I wish I had spent a little more time with the album or else it probably would have landed higher. Fabulous effort!!!! Really like all four albums so far. (And Age Of Distraction made the list so there’s a Stuckfish connection there too…)
A British prog/alternative band called Beak needs to be mentioned. They released a good album that received a lot of attention here. A mention for Herin’s, “Hiding in Plain Sight”, which is about his father who suffered from Alzheimers. Airbag put out a sonically interesting album. And young Brits, Azure released an album that is barking mad but has some wonderful playing on it!

Progressive rock is one of the few forms of music that really emphasizes albums today. Greep has his own sound. That's what I care about, idiomatic expression and surprising composition with fire
Good list but no PRR? I just picked up their latest but haven't played it yet. Anyway, although I have a few of these it looks like I have my prog shopping cut out for me for the next six months or so. Great job with this. I enjoyed watching it a lot. And I understand you can't have everything but the latest Pure Reason Revolution album was rated highly on PA and other places so was surprised not to see it on here. No big deal though. The latest Beardfish is great so glad to see that on here.
@TheProgCorner it has a special meaning to me Scot because it was released three days after my best friend/ex-wife died. 'Once Upon a Dream' is my dedication to her.
Honestly, I didn't buy a lot of new 2024 releases for various reasons, but of the handful I did buy my top 3 that stood out and got lots of listening time were... 1) Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks "True" 2) Jadis "More Questions Than Answers" 3) The Pineapple Thief "It Leads To This".
Ritual' record is the best of the year. I agree. It's perfect. Anyone who hasn't heard it, do it right this very moment. Ritual is holding the prog rock torch high. Good for them.
I don’t know how you do it Scot. 2024 wasn’t a bad year for music in general. There were quite a few non-Prog albums that caught my ear. As far as Prog goes I’ll give my top five just to keep my word count down. 05. Kite Parade-Disparity 04. Versa-A Voyage/Destination 03. The Smile-Cutouts 02. Rosalie Cunningham-To Shoot Another Day 01. Jon Anderson-True
There is a few on here I have yet to check out! Ritual is my number 2 this year! Frost’s Life in Wires narrowly beats it out! Both are master works to me!
have you checked out a prog album called "monarch of monsters" by vylet pony? it has an epic and a bunch of genesis references, you might find it interesting
Great list! I was surprised, though, to see that DGM and their latest album "Endless" wasn't even mentioned on your list. They continue to be the most consistent and rocking purveyors of prog rock out there. Otherwise, top not picks
I was honestly gonna skip over the Jon Anderson album because of the cover. But I’m glad I gave it a listen as it’s incredible!! Especially Once Upon a Dream. I just wish he got Roger Dean to do the cover 😆
I don't think my list will be finalised until the last week of the year as I'm getting Beardfish, elephant9 and the new Opeth CDs for Christmas so they have not been fully explored yet (though even on first listen....). However: 10. Jon Anderson&Band Geeks - True 9. GY!BE - No Title 8. Tangent - To Follow Polaris 7. Sleepytime GM - Last Human Being 6. IZZ- Collapse the Wave 5. BBT - The Likes of Us 4. Weather Systems - Ocean 3. Pure Reason Revolution - Coming up to Consciousness 2. Opeth - Last Will 1. Ritual - Mr Bogd. so a fair degree of overlap but I can't get into Mr Greep.
Many thanks Scott.

I'm still in the process of compiling my full list, but here is roughly what my top 15 are right now:
15.Joe Deninzon and Stratospheerius - Imposter!
14. Beardfish - Songs For Beating Hearts
13. The Pineapple Thief - It Leads to This
12. Neil Morse and The Resonance - No Hill For a Climber
11. Ritual - The Story of Mr. Bogd Part 1
10. Versa - A Voyage A Destination Part 2
9. Oddleaf - Where Ideal and Denial Collide
8. IZZ - Collapse the Wave
7. Rosalie Cunningham - To Shoot Another Day
6. Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks - True
5. Albion - Lakesongs of the Elbid
4. Cloud Cult - Alchemy Creek (OK, maybe not Prog, but kind of Symphonic folk prog, and brilliant)
3. Circe Link and Christian Nesmith - Arcana
2. Big Big Train - The Likes of Us
1. Barock Project - Time Voyager (Best album I heard all year)
I’m doing my non Prog list next. And you have my #1 at #4!!!!!!
I have Airbag at #37
Just finished the entire show and, as I eschew streaming music, my relatives and friends are going to be bankrupt this Christmas, buying me physical albums from your list. I may show mercy and limit it to your top ten. Thanks for revealing so many more bands for me to listen to. Like Jethro Tull's hit single I have spent too much time "Living In The Past".
@@TheProgCorner Ineded. That was one of th bands I did know. I just said it clumsily.
Scott thanks for all your hard work great list and a few lm gonna have to check out. 👏👏👏👏👏
Oh yeah!!!!
The Smile > Radiohead
Great list Scot, many I knew , many I didn't! My AOTY over all and in Prog is Opeth. When my third favorite band of all time drops an album it going to be hard not to put it in the #1 slot.
Understandable!!!! Fabulous record!
Great list as always thanks for sharing💕
Hi Annaliz!!!
So much good music, so little time. Of your top 50, I probably have four or five. Most bands I hadn't even heard of. ...I made a list to check out.
Good to know that prog is thriving, despite the years of heavy criticism and general neglect.
It’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!
Outstanding!!!!!
I had no idea Rosalie Cunningham had an album out. I loved Purson so I need to get on this! My top 3 are probably Opeth, Frost* and Azure (their album Fym needs more attention, it's really incredible).
Thanks for the list, a lot that I missed this year!
Rosalie is a treasure.
Public service broadcasting at its finest. I don't have time to comment on every video but I want you to know how much I appreciate what you do, Scot. I thought I was doing well at keeping up with new releases this year, yet I've still come away from this video with a list of five albums I need to check out at some point this week!
There are at least 40 Prog albums released this year that I still haven’t listened to…
Where has this channel been all my life.
Better late than never!!!! But you have some catching up to do!!!!
Good work. I will seek out your recommendations and have a listen. Your facial expression on the thumbnail suggests that a scantily clad Miss Universe is comin’ atcha with lustful eyes, and the wife is out shopping.
I was thinking about Allison Brie.
Kim Deal’s album is great!!! As is the new Cure!!! I think I’ll be doing a “non Prog” list too.
@@TheProgCorner I look forward to that list!! Cheers :)
My first time seeing/hearing you. LOVED Ellesmere.
Welcome!!!! If you love Ellesmere then you are MOST DEFINITELY in the right place here.
I’m so behind, so behind, behind… on my new Prog release album listening. (Except for Opeth.) Thanks for giving me a lot of varied choices to check out!
~ Davey Cretin, from Cretin Classics.
The madness never ends.
I always look forward to discovering everyone's top albums of the year. For me, I'm not sure if number 1 is Big Big Train or Opeth.
Two amazing albums!!!!!!
Opeth 🥇
For me the album of the year was basically set for months and months ago. Big Big Train just stole my heart this year completely. I’ve listened that album so many times that wife wonders If I listen Steven Wilson or Porcupine Tree ar all 😂
Well of course i do 😊
For me Opeth is top5 this year.
Rick Miller - One of the Many
Solaris - Martian Chronicles III
Acid Rooster - Hall of Mirrors
Levitation Room - Strange Weather
Quantum Fantay - Oneironauts
Aliante - Anime Invisibili
Cars in Space - Time Machine
Aurora Clara - IV
Magick Brother & Mystic Sister - Tarot Part 1
The Pineapple Thief - It Leads To This
Solaris!!!! I just got my hands on it a couple days ago and WOW!!!!
@@TheProgCorner Yep. It's stunning! Perhaps even better than any of the previous ones.
It’s stunning and definitely would have made my list had I received it earlier…
Jupiter fungus and oddleaf, WQW..... Cool list. Great year.
Fantastic!!!!
Awesome list! My number one is exactly the same, but i would put the new albums from Lee Abraham and Rick Miller in my top 50 list
Sweet!!!! I like that Rick Miller album a lot.
Great year for Prog. Give you my top 5.
5. Big Big Train - The Likes of Us
4. Monkey 3 - Welcome to the Machine
Fantastic!!!
Prog on.
Amazing album!!!!
Top Five easily!
I bookmarked this video, because I need to check out as many of these as possible. It might take a while, I don't always have a lot of time, but this is my homework for 2025.
Yes sir!!!!!
THANK YOU SCOT !! STUCKFISH MADE THE TOP 50 YEEEHAAAAA
Snuck right in there. I wish I had spent a little more time with the album or else it probably would have landed higher. Fabulous effort!!!! Really like all four albums so far. (And Age Of Distraction made the list so there’s a Stuckfish connection there too…)
@@TheProgCorner We'll take that ;-0 Our album does take time to grow, but that always makes for a better album in our opinion.
@@AdrianFisher777 absolutely!

Wow. I’ve heard half of those.
@TheProgCorner There is a lot of prog, but also jazz fusion and other jazz subgenres.
Thank you for introducing me to Meer. Wheels within Wheels is my favourite album of the year
Just incredible. Come To Light might be Song Of The Year.
@ , I can only agree that it’s an immense track. Once again thank you for introducing me to the band.
Progressive rock is one of the few forms of music that really emphasizes albums today. Greep has his own sound. That's what I care about, idiomatic expression and surprising composition with fire
True!!!!!
Another great list! I would have placed Frost in the top 5.
I have still not received my copy Mr Bgod! UK distribution problems
Not cool.
I think I’m gonna need an intervention for that Beardfish album. I just can’t stop listening to it. ❤
Amazing!!!!
Greetings from Jupiter Fungus, Scot! We'd like to express our gratitude for our inclusion in the top 50!
You guys are too good!!!!
@@TheProgCorner 🙏🙏🙏
1. Cure - Songs of A Lost World
2. Nick Cave - Wild God
3. Fleet Foxes - Boston Harbor
4. Big Big Train - The Likes of Us
Excellent choices!!!!
@@TheProgCorner And The Decemberists album is really good.
It’s fantastic!!!!
I have the new PRR. And I like it quite a bit…
Nice list Scott! Did you listen to Tarot: Part 1 by Magick Brother and Mystical Sister?
I did!!! I’m loving both of their albums. Definitely a band to watch out for…
'True' is my number one. How could it not be as much as I love YES? That album is tremendous!🤩
It really is. It keeps moving up. Originally I had it slotted around 12-15 and True refused to be so disrespected!!!!
@TheProgCorner it has a special meaning to me Scot because it was released three days after my best friend/ex-wife died. 'Once Upon a Dream' is my dedication to her.
@ Wow. That’s really beautiful.
@@TheProgCorner "Twice upon a dream she was the Angel of her story"
Honestly, I didn't buy a lot of new 2024 releases for various reasons, but of the handful I did buy my top 3 that stood out and got lots of listening time were... 1) Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks "True" 2) Jadis "More Questions Than Answers" 3) The Pineapple Thief "It Leads To This".
Three great records!!!!!
Ritual' record is the best of the year. I agree. It's perfect. Anyone who hasn't heard it, do it right this very moment. Ritual is holding the prog rock torch high. Good for them.
You know what time it is!!!!!👍❤️
Hey Scot! 😢 At least you put Jon in the top 5 even though you know deep down TRUE should of been higher. Still my AOTY!!!👍☮️👑🐍🙏😎
It gets better with every spin too!!!
@@TheProgCornerYES, yes it does! Makes me smile every time I play it.👍😎
Some of my favorites this year : Ritual,Beardfish,Niel
Morse, Jupiter fungus is
Great,opeth,Bedsore,greco bestian,Rope sect,Alcest
Fantastic!!!!! I need to spend some more time with Alcest.
I don’t know how you do it Scot. 2024 wasn’t a bad year for music in general. There were quite a few non-Prog albums that caught my ear. As far as Prog goes I’ll give my top five just to keep my word count down.
05. Kite Parade-Disparity
04. Versa-A Voyage/Destination
03. The Smile-Cutouts
02. Rosalie Cunningham-To Shoot Another Day
01. Jon Anderson-True
Fabulous!!!! I’ll probably do a non Prog list this year too…
@ That would be cool. I’m interested in where your tastes lie outside of Prog. Bring it on.
Yes, Geordie Greep is absolutely brilliant. Love the guy.
Incredible talent.
There is a few on here I have yet to check out! Ritual is my number 2 this year! Frost’s Life in Wires narrowly beats it out! Both are master works to me!
Two instant classics!!!
Good to see Circe and Christian's new album "Arcana" in there!
I was SHOCKED by how much I ended up loving it.
@@TheProgCorner I can kind of say the same, although I did like Cosmologica quite a bit as well, but Arcana I think is even better.
Opeth is my #1 prog álbum of the year, outstanding vocals, riff guitarrs bass player and drumimg
Awesome!!!
have you checked out a prog album called "monarch of monsters" by vylet pony? it has an epic and a bunch of genesis references, you might find it interesting
I haven’t heard it but I’ve heard good things about it.
Hey man got you a ranking video of Caravan?
Not yet but it’s coming in 2025!!!!
Great list! I was surprised, though, to see that DGM and their latest album "Endless" wasn't even mentioned on your list. They continue to be the most consistent and rocking purveyors of prog rock out there. Otherwise, top not picks
I really like the final track, Of Endless Echoes.
Scot even though I am a big metal fan, doom melodic death metal black metal fan i love progressive rock!!
Yeah!!!!!! 🤘🤘❤️❤️
I was honestly gonna skip over the Jon Anderson album because of the cover. But I’m glad I gave it a listen as it’s incredible!! Especially Once Upon a Dream. I just wish he got Roger Dean to do the cover 😆
Exactly!!!👍
The fact that Fym by Azure isn't on this list is a crime. One of the best prog albums this year for sure.
Great band.
Greep ain’t for everyone!!!!!!
