The Last Minute Cook I really like how you kept the bacon grease in the soup plus keeping the potatoes whole then mash them in the end to thicken the soup. I’m fixing some later today.
Thank you for posting this its really fantastic on a cold day here in NC mid November. Great Video well thought out , I made it just as explained. Just about the 5 th time I used the Instant Pot.
Just made 2/3 recipe with 3 potatoes. Delicious!!!. One little problem: I noticed a little curdling. Maybe I added the sour cream when mixture was too hot. what do you think?
Oh my gosh! I just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it. Just got my instant pot, and have already made two of your recipes with major success! Thank you for not making them so formal and giving your recipes so much flexibility!! We tried your potato soup recipe today and I love the fact that you don’t include milk because I’m lactose intolerant. A little cheese I can deal with.🤣 It was absolutely delicious!!
looking forward to trying this recipe and few of your others. Just got an instant pot last year and I want to take it out of the box and put it to good use.
Wow Debra!.....that soup is amazing!!!! We are having a snow storm out here today, so I figured a hearty soup would be perfect for a stay inside kind of day. I followed your recipe exactly....except for adding a little bit of farmer sausage together with the bacon. Thanks so much for taking the time to post that! Thumbs up 👍 My wife was amazed when I served up a bowl of this. I am now subscribed to your channel.
Hello Debra thank you for this recipe I made this potato soup for dinner tonight my wife and myself really enjoy it It was simple and easy and delicious Thanks again
I made this for the first time but I should have used bigger potatoes. I also added to much stock in the bacon to start..However in the end it turned out real good...Thanks for posting the ingredients on the side bar..several other videos do not have that and it is an important thing to see so I can stop and write it down..Love my instanpot so much I bought 3 of them. :)
Cutting the potatoes even a little would allow you to cut the cooking time. Dicing the potatoes would allow you to cut cooking time to a few mins. Glad to see you cut the milk products.
Thanks Ed Watson!! That sounds great! Sub any of those for the bacon - if using ham, get the onions cooked down a bit first, then put in the bits of ham. If using the Italian sausage, brown the sausage first just like I do with the uncooked bacon. I think both sound delicious!! Debra :-)
What are the benefits of leaving the potatoes whole, rather than chopping them up into smaller pieces? As you said, it would cut down the cooking time.
The point I was trying to make was why do you prefer to use whole potatoes rather than the smaller ones if the smaller ones cook quicker? At the end, the soup is then mashed down?
Nooooo.... this should be called mashed potato soup. I prefer mine diced BEFORE cooking with some milk or cream cheese to make it more creamy. This is different though, I'd still try it. My son even likes a dollop of sour cream on top.
It’s not bad but I had chicken bone in broth and it gave it a richer flavor that tastes less potatoey I definitely loved the recipe I think I’ll add some bacon crumbles to it tomorrow after it’s thickened up.
Have you made this instant pot potato soup, yet? Did you change it up or tried it just like this? Let me know what you think! Debra 😀

Hello Debra thank you for this recipe
I made this potato soup for dinner tonight my wife and myself really enjoy it
It was simple and easy and delicious
Thanks again
those potatoes are massive!
I just made this following your recipe exactly. So easy and so tasty. Thank you!
I would just dice my potatoes up before I cooked them and reduce the time a little bit. I like some potato chunks not all mashed
"Potatoes and Bacon y'all" HAS GOT to be on a shirt 😆🤣😍💕
Looks delicious! Love potato soup!
Hahaha I LOVE that!!! 👏😍 Debra :-)
Make your own...get iron-on sheets at Staples (etc.) Create your design, print on the sheet/s then iron!!!
I think I’ll try this but I’m going to add some crispy bacon as a garnish as well. Looks yummy!
Thank you ! Definitely will be making ...
Thank you Mary Beth, let me know how you like it!
The soup looks wonderful. New subscriber.

That looks good
Please make some more IP videos. I love the ones I've seen so far. Sally Gordin
Looks like a real winner, wow . What about ham or a little Italian sausage ?

Would this work if I diced the potatoes before pressure cooking?
I wonder if I could use coconut milk in place of sour cream ? Looks delicious. So excited we just got insta pot ultra. Thk u for great ideas!
Let me know if you try it with coconut milk - I bet it’s great! 😀
Hello. What size Instapot are you using?
She stated an 8 quart.
I want to make this for work for christmas . Can I reheat it ? And for how long?
I likenyour cooking thanks for this...
Is there a reason you don’t cut the potatoes first before cooking?
Belinda Everman, you can absolutely cut them before cooking. :-) Debra
Look delicioso 😋
Thanks Ruby!!!! 😀
What are the benefits of leaving the potatoes whole, rather than chopping them up into smaller pieces? As you said, it would cut down the cooking time.
You got it, Mickiboy Mick. Smaller potatoes will cook faster.
The point I was trying to make was why do you prefer to use whole potatoes rather than the smaller ones if the smaller ones cook quicker? At the end, the soup is then mashed down?
I made this exactly as you did here but the soup is very bland. Almost no flavor. Wonder what I missed?
Hello Liz Prymek, this potato soup has a mild flavor, warm and comforting. you may want to spice it up a bit. Let us know how you like it!

Trying this tonight I’ll give you feedback later
Can you use chicken bone broth or does it have to be stock?
I'm so glad you went ahead and tried it with your broth - sorry for the delay!
It’s not bad but I had chicken bone in broth and it gave it a richer flavor that tastes less potatoey
I definitely loved the recipe I think I’ll add some bacon crumbles to it tomorrow after it’s thickened up.
I'm glad you liked it, Renee DaSinger! Thank you for the feedback! Bacon crumbles would be awesome.
