Love this! Ronald was truly a special talent and I hope he is blessed with whatever he is doing. I will forever miss the noisy melodic chaos he provided to the wonderful songs from the era. Thanks as always for sharing!
In my music world, Ron has become a legend unlike any I know. So much universal admiration. Seeing this old footage makes me melancholy of all the times I spent with him over a few years. Last time I saw him was the Lips playing in Amsterdam like 25 years ago. Everyone so young. : )
Maybe Steve Drozd and Ronald working together in a band was just too much for the future world. The book “Staring At Sound” has some delicate information about that time period for anyone who hasn’t read it. Those 2 records, especially Clouds Taste Metallic, are some of the best and rarely acknowledge LPs made during that time imo.

@@interstellaroverdriven6450 yeah what Wayne said at the beginning about speaking about Ronald speaks volumes. People don’t shoot up in their toes, just not possible. It was just a mental health issue
Dude I love the flaming lips. Ronald left the band and moved on with his life. I’m not sure why Wayne - a professional songwriter and entertainer - can’t say simply in succinct way: Ronald is an important part of our story. I never really got over him leaving the band. I’m not sure why he left. But I wish him the best…. Period. That’s all you gotta say. Though I’m guessing leaving everything weird and ambiguous and open ended and strange is how this guy rolls….thing is that’s tiresome for everyone else.
I mean, what he said isn't that far off what you suggested. I don't know why you'd want him to lie though by saying he doesn't know why Ronald left. And it sounds like Wayne was being asked specific questions that related to Ronald, so he was trying to answer them as much as he could.
I think Wayne saying that Ronald was 'difficult as a human being' is to be taken with a large pinch of salt. There's even a verb now I believed 'to be Coyned', which describes being chucked from the Lips circle by reason of Wayne's fragile ego. Kliph Skurlock is an example, but his ex-wife too, and I wonder if Ronald just didn't enjoy the BS, with Steven on drugs too.
@@temeyer if it was back when i did drugs i would have agreed and asked if he brought enough for the whole class. anyway, would you have done it for ronald?

@@interstellaroverdriven6450 haha, my pleasure
Wayne is a fake
Wherever Ronald is and whatever he’s doing I just hope he’s happy and healthy.
I pray some day we will get to see Ronald return someday I think he was the most underrated guitarist of the 90s
I do ANYTHING TO SEE THAT DOCU!!! That's probably my fave LP from the Lips!
Same here

I miss Ronald 😥😞 I would love to see him come back for another album or a few songs
When people talk about someone who is truly "authentic", I think of Wayne and the Lips.

I have a few favorite guitarist. For me Ronald Jones unique in his abilities and in the way he plays. It’s art and that’s like finding gold.
Completely agree, superb choice of words
Love the albums with Ronald !!!
Gracious and erudite as ever, thank you Wayne
Thank you so much for the work you do. You are incredible. :)
Absolutely, infinite thanks to thesatellitehead
Ronald fue lo mejor que le sucedió a the flaming lips, odio no tener composiciones nuevas de él
respect his decision
Wow, I edited that documentary in 1995...
Is there a cut of the doc that exists anywhere?

I really wonder what happened to Ronald Jones, especially since he said they made an oath not to talk about him or his whereabouts.
@@pmbbmp so, what happened? I’m really curious since he completely disappeared.
@@pmbbmp oh man, that’s sad to hear. I hope he’s found some medication and people that can help him.
Hot day was kinda a hacked original unfinished version of bad days before bad days came out.

Ronald had had enough of Steven's drug taking ?
Yup remember that from the Fearless Freaks documentary. The scene with Steven injecting his toes because he was running out of veins speaks volumes.
Dood had something akin to schizophrenia in my view.
