One of my favorite music memories is: My brothers and I were at Sasquatch Music Festival in George, WA. I think Sufjan Stevens was on the main stage. It was between songs. We saw Wayne lurking on the side of the stage and yelled "Wayne!" and pointed at him with enthusiasm. Somehow he saw or heard us and pointed at us with this huge smile, like "F- yeah, dudes!" He came across as the nicest, realest, coolest guy alive. Love you, Wayne.
@@y-s- You are crazy. Their creative peak was clouds taste metallic thru at war with the mystics. Some of their early stuff is great and some of their newer stuff is great. But those 4 or 5 records are absolute genius.
@@nicholasrosebush6182 it seems like we mostly agree except for the last couple albums in that timeframe. clouds is one of my fav lips albums and i used to rank it #1. still, i'd definitely rank early lips above at war with the mystics. that album was unlistenable for me and a major step down.
@@arujkhan1459I think they've only had 1 bad album, oczy melody wasn't quite good. And mystics is hit or miss although it contains some of the best Flaming Lips tracks ever
@@y-s-No not really Yoshimi, Ebmryonic, At War With The Mystics, The Terror, Kings Mouth, American Head, 7Skies H3 and Peace Sword are all fantastic records.
@@y-s-Understandable. But the part of FL’s musical ethos that gave us more and more experimental music that may offend some tastes is what originally gave us The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi. I find it pretty fascinating but yah, the albums become more of a challenge to enjoy on some level. At War With The Mystics is pretty good, The Sound of Failure is great. Ive struggled to get immersed for too long in much beyond that. The Terror is pretty interesting.
The albums are good but their live show is infreakingcredible. The best live show on earth. Id follow them like the lovepit crew, but I ain't rich like them

Thank u for all the music you've created. You're such a genius!!!! Legend itself 💖💖💖
I can’t believe he doesn’t acknowledge the greatness of their early records. The first three are phenomenal
yeah their best albums were the early and mid period. yoshimi was good but a step down, and they only got worse from there

I love Wayne. Lol. "We're not working as hard as the guy out in the streets..." lol
The greatest album of the 2000s there would be no Tame Impala, MGMT or half the bands out there without the flaming lips
their best albums came out in the 90s

Somewhere out there there's a reason why the flaming lips has no "live albums". They transcend that medium like no other.
@@joesosa41 lol exactly “you have to be there in person” is the reason
God I love this guy! He's so true..
❤Wayne and his whacky brain :)

waiting for my box !!!!! release space bubble in europa please !!!
26:08 Why did they bleep out an artists name? I think he said Ariel Pink. I guess it's verboten to mention his name
@@carsoncito03 That makes no sense. It's because Ariel voted for Donnie T.

Wayne should have a conversation with Fantano.
oh my god i'd love to see that

They peaked in 2003 too.

Naw. "American Head" is brilliant. "Yoshimi" was my favorite, until I heard this... years after it was released.
