One big suggestion. Put cameras in the garage bay, and possibly the under floor storage bays. That way you can keep an eye out for possible fires while running down the road. A fire suppression system in the garage would be a good idea as well. A LOT of race teams lose their rigs to fires every year.

    • @Kevin---kx3jy
      @Kevin---kx3jy Рік тому +54

I own a diesel pusher and will be installing a fire suppression system in the engine bay.
The engine bay and old propane RV refrigerators are the two most common sources of fire in a motorhome.

Totally agree, would hate for Taylor to lose this awesome investment to a fire that they didn't catch in time. That engine is an awful long way from where you pilot that beast.

A lot of those fires come from brake fires. Even then the worst damge comes from the fire extinguisher residue, it's nasty stuff.

    Suggestion!
Look into replacing the steer rims with the flat faced Alcoa rims. It will push out the overall steer track width giving you better stability going down the road and in turns. Plus they're 9 inches wide instead of the regular 8.25. That way you can run a 295/60/22.5. Better weight and speed rating with that size. Very popular tire in the car hauling community. Cheers!

@@Aheitchoo the chances of you having a blow out on that steer tire is never none but so unlikely because you’ll never be close to it’s weight rating on that set up. It’s the same set up 99% of all 9 car semi trucks you see going down the road everyday. We’re doing over 120k on those tires every year. The amount of driving Taylor will be doing he’ll have to change the tires due to age not wear.

    Hi:
I'm the guy that drove Eagles for Trailways for 14 years and wrote to you before.
    Here's another tip:
If you remove the screws from the Eagle at the front of the bus, you'll find a stout steel beam to which you can attach a rope, chain, or cable to pull you out of mud, sand, or whatever you're stuck in, and behind the front drop down hinged bumper, there's where the full sized spare tire resides. It's placed there to help absorb the shock of a collision.
    Safe travels

Others have said the wind speed sensor could be for the automatic awning, which could be true. Or, it could be left over from someone's weather station. I'm not sure what kind of car use to ride in this transporter, but there are several forms of motorsports where the teams will monitor all weather parameters which can greatly affect their performance. For example: Anything that uses a carburetor, the teams needs to know the density altitude for correct fuel jetting. Another example: Drag racers, especially those who race an Index class, or bracket racers, need to know wind speed and wind direction.... if they don't have that info, it can very easily cause a car to run too slow, or too fast. Just a few thoughts...

Steel cable is going to last a lot longer for that little winch then a synthetic line will in that application. If you do go synthetic you need to change to an aluminum hawse at the same time, the roller one's don't work well with synthetic rope. Also change any pulleys in the system as any nicks and burrs from the steel cable will tear the synthetic line up in short order. As I said I'd just stick with cable, but at least when the synthetic line breaks you can splice it back together lol.
If you look into atv mounted snow plows they use a similar winch and the synthetic lines don't last long on them with the repeated raising and lowering on the same section of rope.
Loving the bus build! Just thought I'd share some of my winch experience, I'm more of a 4x4 guy than a drift guy 😆

Holy shit. I felt like I was walking through your bus research with you and it was so amazing when you finished explaining and I could fully understand what was so sick and making you smile as soon as you mentioned rust

For ratchet straps coming loose; make sure you’re getting at least 2 wraps of strap around the pin, most people pull ALL the slack through and that’s why their straps come loose.

The bus definitely needs some lights underneath to light the ground up around it, even just some amber running lights would look and function sweet.

i could watch this bus get upgrades all day. maybe you could use the hole in the dash where the old battery controller goes for interior lighting control?

I would change the wiring of the lights so you have all 4 on. they should be hi/low beam on each housing

you might want to consider adding a hardener to the rustoleum enamel in the future to keep the paint from gumming up and accelerate the curing.

Can I get some info on those headlights? I have a classic car that needs replacement to LED super bad but I don't know which ones are good and which arent. Thanks!

You should wire your headlights to where all four low beams come on at the same time! And put the high beams on their own switch/circuit!

So in the garage, do the floor doors come off? It would be a great "pit" to get under the car

This thing is going to be a beauty!! For the E track you could make some covers to keep the shit out as you'll mainly be strapping at the same points

Itd be cool to see a bunch of amber pod lights along the bottom on the sides of the bus and maybe a custom chrome visor that says your name or eagle on it

I love your new hauler man! Gotta question though… On the Etrek I see you use just small screws to put it down. Is it enough to hold the car down when strapped? I’d worry about the car being bumped up. Maybe there’s through bolts on some and the video might haven’t picked it up idk. Just wondering bud?

RVs are usally wired by AC Electricians. So with the 12VDC The black is usually your +12vdc (hot with AC) and white is usually ground (netural with AC) When in doubt check with a Multimeter

Bro, you want to change the game for stripped phillips head screws? EZ Grip! I thought it was gimmiky but after i resorted to it as a last ditch effort and it worked.... The second a phillips headed screw begins to round, i just EZ Grip it and USUALLY it comes out.
And yes I know the quality of the screwdriver, condition of the hardware, and amount of leverage you can apply are all factors but I live by this stuff. I'm in Aviation and its pretty important for us to remove things without drilling and tapping or sleeving. Yes its possible but usually pretty costly in this realm. So having this stuff to apply as a last resort OR just go ahead and use it because this fastener is always a pain" really helps out to have in your box.

Upgrade the winch ASAP and make sure it has a synthetic fairlead because those rollers will destroy your synthetic cable. Get a WARN 4500 pound?

Taylor, you need to listen to a Jackso Browne song called “Nothin’ but Time” on the Running on Empty album. Probably not your genre but it was recorded on his Continental Silver Eagle touring bus. You can hear the bus sounds in the background. That’s my favorite part of the song.
