"We have a thing that can lift things 11 ft in the air at 3500lbs" T-ray said. And Men all over the world smiled and cheered.
Hell yeah we did.
I used to work for Crown as a field tech. It shouldn't be that low. the drive wheel on the unit is worn down. You can go directly to Crown for service parts and get everything factory direct at your nearest branch, which I believe there is one in Orlando. I'd recommend hitting all the grease points on the unit and putting grease on the mast channels (where the forks ride up and down on) Also, if you feel like it, you should replace the outrigger wheels (they come out by hammering out roll pins, and that will help how the unit rolls around too.
Also to add. Make sure use distilled water for the battery. When pop the tops and look down into the cells. Will see a plate with holes. Only fill about 3/8inch above that plate at most. Only add water after been fully charged. If you post the serial # of the battery Deka will be 4 digits and 2 letters. I can tell ya how old it is. The built in charger is more of a trickle charger, so if run it dead won't be quick recharge. Think 6-10hrs depending how depleted it is.
I used to work for a forklift tyre company, it is sometimes cheaper to get the drive wheel refurbished, it looks like a direct bond polyurethane unit. The load wheels are small pallet rollers and usually cheaper to replace whole. In my experience Crown forktrucks are very high quality and durable machines 👍
@@CarrotTop6z9battery guy here. it's a deka gel-mate, their gel cell line - it won't need water.
@ecaffey8 Ditto dude. Wheels and tire are toast.
The one we had at work wore out the drive tire, too. Made it hard to move around the shop. Otherwise, I loved it.
You can also check with Crown they carry special non-marring tires for sealed and epoxy floors. We had them on all of our fork lifts. You will thank me later.
This truck has polyurethane tyres all round, which is non marking by default. Rubber tyres would fail in such a high load application.
Hey taylor, left a comment on your open trailer refurbishing video a couple weeks back saying it would be cool to see a tool check. You said people should comment if they want to see it and i think the people have answered 😁😁
I will not watch a tool check video
I would love a tool check 🤞
After that video he can make one of him checking all the tires pressures in everything he owns.
Awfully demanding of you isn't it
Yess tool check video!
Love it! The paint nerd in me says, if you redo the white, lay out a thin (1/2" wide or so) black line where the white meets the red. It makes a world of difference visually. Keep up the amazing content!
I'm certain Taylor is the only person that could have me sit and watch a forklist project hahaha, pumped to see theres going to be more shop upgrades coming in the near future!
I was thinking the exact same thing as I was deciding which of the most recent videos I would watch next from the channels I'm subbed to. I almost couldn't believe I was clicking on the forklift video first but I just really dig Taylor's style especially love how he always fixes up the stuff he buys, he even somehow made touching up a forklift super interesting.
No way, I love these weird projects
Honestly, I feel like that is why I watched Taylor, his content is so different from other “car creators” he really just brings us along for everything he likes to do and that’s what gives his channel personality, it’s him!
@@DREWTampa1 Couldn't agree more, in a platform full of ego's he really does shine with how down to earth aand "normal" he is, really a relatable dude
OH HELL no, I could watch Diesel Queen do anything...thank me later
Walk behind pallet jack is a must for a car workshop. A forklift would just be a pain in the ass in tight quarters
Definitely not I lift my non running cars with my fork lift and takes up a lil more room then a 4wheeler it’s worth
Until you build a loft in your shop and that pallet jack doesn’t help you anymore
Was thinking that. Even a good zero turn still has a big butt.
You ever pull, install or move an engine with a pallet jack? Forklift all the way.
Also the reason the jack is soo low to the ground is the drive wheels are pretty much worn down and would be best into thinking of replacing them
^^^^
Basically what the guy that started the post said
@@billmadison2032 I read that too but this post wasnt in that thread , so he might not have read it.
keep it slammed
That fresh white paint is the perfect canvas for a nice big garage built sticker 👀
A little walkie stacker like that is great to have around the shop.
You could put a little platform on casters behind it, if you don't want to walk.
I am HYPE for a mill and a lathe ive always loved machining videos and to see Taylor’s take on one (or a few) would be awesome!
I couldn’t agree more. Machining vids are very interesting and I know T ray can put his own twist on it.
Your viewers from the Poland will appriciate that backcover color scheme.
"That was stressful, this is why I don't hag out with you guys" Is something my wife has said to me too lol
it's a crown....the boys in Tampa can get you parts and a manual. I actually work for Crown in WI
Hey man, I work for Crown dealer in NJ
Philadelphia crown tech over here😂
@@kylelong441 Omni?
anyone of you guys going to NZ or AU
@@MiltsGarage yeah lol
I'm 11 1/2 minutes in. What a perfect truck for the shop. It's compact and capable. R2 is so cool.
One tip, don't let the battery go too low. The charger in the lift is not the quickest, its more of battery maintainer.
Plus you don’t wanna get the water get too low and toast the battery, it’s super easy to add water rather then have to get a new battery cause u have too many dead cells
I havent finished watching the video, but I have one of these at work, and you need a wall charger with the plugin to the Jack for it to work correctly, and yes, never let it fully die.
Dude as soon as you said you could get a lathe now 🤯
Super psyched to see where the lift is going and all the possibilities this opens up!!
Crown tech here!
Your local dealer should carry that oem beige and black which we call (dark gray) paint 🎨
That drive tire can be removed and taken to the local dealer so they can press on a new one if available. They should carry those outrigger wheels as well.
I would check the water level on each individual battery . Top off with distilled water!!
Check over your trucks harness to see if any wires might be pinched etc. this occurs especially where the handle meets the frame due to constant turning.
Check the motor brush condition and springs. If the springs don’t snap back on to the brush that can cause bad problems!
Check the contactor tips condition as well, you can visibly see if there are sparks occurring when activating it . Also you can see chunks missing were they spark on occasion due to weak batteries.
Grease the mast channels so te bearings don’t get damaged and to avoiding an annoying walkie stacker that grinds each time you go up!
Taylors the only youtuber I'd watch rebuild a forklift...
You can get spray cans of the factory paint from your local Crown dealer, either in Tampa or Orlando. Love the content!
Check the water in the battery and top it off with distilled water.
It's a gel cell
I used to ride these too when I worked in a warehouse. The crowns rock!
I've been a crown technician for 5 years now. Only key maintenance things you skipped were checking the battery water and lubing the mast/chains. Batteries are expensive and the easiest way to kill one is running them dry. Any where on the mast the rollers touch should be greased. Also check the brushes on the motors, once they come flush with the holders they should be replaced. Cool unit though, great addition to the shop.
add a strip of that yellow/black caution vinyl tape between the red/white on the back panel, that'll make it look cohesive. Or at least paint a black stripe between the colors.
Brother you definitely need reverse lights on the trailer. Super easy to do, Amazon mini light bars and one wire to 7 pin in the center. Ground the lights to frame and boom. Reverse lights when the truck is in reverse
haven't had any time for UA-cam anymore but I am always here checking for your vids. love all the content
R2 looks awesum and it's going to be a GR8 tool for the shop. Re the white,, it just needs a gob of those stickers you have no other place to put. Nice addition to the shop indeed.
There is one thing you have got to learn about our movement. Three people are better than no people.
I never thought I would ever see a video about a forklift and watch it. But I did.. and it's cool. Great video..
It's very important that if you use a 2 post lift to sling lift something like that, you must make sure your rigging is vertical. I attempted to lift a 6,000 pound lathe off a trailer using chains, but did not rig it vertically. I had the chains at an angle and it did pull the posts towards each other and my concrete floor broke. Cost me $2000 to have the slab replaced.
I work as a Field forklift technician in Sweden. Protip. New wheels and paint transform small forklifts and feels like new
Wow ! I worked on forklifts for 50+ years 20 years for Clark Equipment and 17 + for Crown lift truck and some in between I know that unit very nice small lift , good luck fixing it up , but be careful you can really get hurt with forklifts .
In regards to unloading, "gotta love it when a plan comes together!"
Always love the secrecy intros building suspense about what is going to happen. And then putting the reveal in the title. Cool purchase nonetheless.
R2 painted red? Nononooo. You have to get the company that wrapped your car to make an R2D2 wrap for that and a new graphics package for your bus at the same time!
Just started the video and I'm so hyped. Taylor, I currently work as a technician for Crown but in California. Those little walkie stackers are so clutch, you are going to love it
Forklift…. That’s a glorified pallet jack! 😂
It's a forklift relax
I can always tell it's a Taylor Ray video because the thumbnails are always so clear
Also void of clickbait reactions 🙌
A Raymond walkie stacker would have fit the color combo a bit better with all the Milwaukee stuff!
I bought something like that for my shop. Super useful. Mine is even simpler, no drive motor, just push it around.
I think that is perfect for your shop. This will make life easier moving things around like you already are, and getting heavier deliverys to the shop is easy, and you don't have to pay the $75 lift gate fee!
I love these random little restore or builds honestly not too into watching you compete or sometimes even work on cars but like the shop build or these little builds keep me on the channel. Its like im watching you progress in life like a vlog but not really lol.
Im HAPPY for you dude, your DREAMS are being full filled my dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
colors are Bright beige and dark grey the orange is control orange. the load wheel axles are held in place by roll pins good luck, rust is your enemy with those roll pins
From past experience with working with a big pallet jack, first, it not made to ride with a load on it. That's why there are no platforms to stand on. Second, wait until you get a load way up in the air. You'll start to have a panic attack worrying whether the unit will tip over or your load will just fall off. After a while you'll get used to it but my comment will be take your time and work carefully!!
Got one of these at my work, we call it Big Joe, we have manual pallet jacks and an electric pallet jack, as well as yours. We mainly use it to stack pallets in the rafters or separate pallets that are double stacked, and yes, they are all just as low. Pretty fun to mess with, they can be a little slow when weighted though. Awesome purchase.
Slap a few decals on that white and it will look 💯
This is always handy in a workshop😃👍, So a good purchase that you will enjoy. Personally, i would do as a color scheme, if you want to stay in the Milwaukee theme, make the bottom that you have now painted red, black, and the white part red. Then you could possibly put Crown Walkie Stacker BS2300-40p in the large red part with white adhesive letters. I think that will look nice 😉. Keep up the great work guys.
Garagebuiltco sticker going across the white would be sick!
Former crown tech, now a crown parts sales rep. You need a drive wheel bud. There are also work platforms for like 400 dollars so you can raise people up on the forks
The white paint should've been red and change the red at the bottom to black. If you want, you can also add your brand/name with white lettering and it'll match all your milwaukee stuff.
Probably unsafe and not sure if this would be viable, but maybe you could weld some thick metal to the base of the forklift to make a "platform" to stand on instead of hanging off the rails when you operate it
Yes thats what I was thinking I have all Milwaukee tools and have been re doing my shop and painting a lot of tool boxes and shelves with that same rustolium paint and all the red Milwaukee boxes pop real nice
I worked on Crown for 5+ years for Lowe's warehouse. They are pretty simple to work on.
Taylor, you know you can get special HD metal roller for moving big heavy lathe's/mill's and other machines!
You can hire them too, would recommend if moving large machines (2000lb +)
It's "R2". Should paint it blue and white with some silver accents.
Impressive R2 unit you got there. Great to have in case of imperial entanglements.

Love the content you make keep grinding the bus is sweet cant wait to see more of fixing it up
I always enjoy seeing a piece of machinery that was unloved be refurbished. With it looking 1000X than it once was, you will most likely take better care of it as well. Good job guys!
I work or cat in the uk as a forklift engineer. I’d recommend measuring forks and chains for wear too, fork heel must be less than 10% wear of the back or the fork and chains are allowed max 3% wear
My bro have same forklift he welded a Diamond plate to stand on and drive but slowly. Works great. He is old so he takes it easy.
Build a little 2 wheel dolly that connects to the back to stand on like a lawn mower, super simple single pin deal ...
Awesome! Makes pulling engines easier too! Also I have seen a hole drilled in a fork so a trailer hitch ball can be used.
It's not generally good practice to drill holes in the fork tines, it's better to put a tow hitch on a piece of steel box section that you can clamp to one of the fork tines.
Looks good! Crown makes good forklifts/lift trucks. I drive a Crown reach truck every day at GM and love it
Taylor getting all giddy and nostalgic over a forklift, lol, love it!
Add a 2" or 3" wide black stripe to separate the red and white... it will tie it all together. Nice work fellas!
This job would've been PERFECT for a dry ice blaster
Those are so cool but they need so much air
Very good choice /compromise for the shop. Color is fine. Looks nice freshened up.
On to the Loft!
you need to make yourself a man-cadge for working on the workshop, will be a game changer when you build the loft (and on the outside of the bus).
Uline has one for like $900 - you almost can't make one for that
Find a crown dealer an go get tires asap or it can an will damage the floors, that's why it's so low, we would tear through them at my old job with rough floors an within a year they would start digging into the floors. Should have close to a inch of clearance give or take with new tires
as soon as you have finished useing the forklift put the battery on charge if heavy use in the morning put it on charge for lunch break keep the battery topped up always
That if forklift is so sick, and im so excited to see the future of this thing and the projects!
Hey Taylor on the new forklift just add your logo or a logo to the white to kinda break up the color a little
I love the videos where Taylor isn't actually doing car stuff! 😂😂
I can’t wait to see the assembly video for the new lift
Sticker bomb the white section you painted 😉
Fork lifts are totally worth it got one at the house and it’s saved me from a lot of headaches, especially lifting stuff to the rafters and pulling engines
All i can think of with the R2 sticker is you need to add a D2 sticker. Name it R2 D2. Kinda fits. And the red looks nice. I think a satin/matt grey (like the bendpak lift color) would look nice if you dont like the white.
Ooooo I'm so in, I'm a sucker for fixer upper projects! This is a big shop upgrade!
Sounds like someone has watched diesel creek!
Never heard of it. Lol
Mustie1 also just did one a few weeks ago
Taylor, Matt from "diesel creek" UA-cam channel has a similar size viewership to you. He is a huge fan of old excavation equipment and buys and restores it to working condition. Not pretty condition, but functional working shape. He's a whiz at resurrection of dead iron. He used this used equipment to build his dream shop , check it out.
@@pmiller7886 I’ve watched a lot of Andrew camarata. Similar content I would assume
@@Taylordrifts yessir, matt just does more fixing and rescuing of stuff, Andrew actually uses his stuff more. I really enjoy your content, glad Josue is finally speaking on camera now, as UA-cam is largely personality driven. Keep rockin man!
When you peeled the tape off the 2tone I thought Pokemon Electrode!! When you put it on the lift it reminded me of a Marlboro livery 😅
Been operating one of these for 10 years. They’re great
That thing is going to change your life for engine jobs. I would also make 2 very easy and important attachments. One that is a trailer ball so you can move around trailers easily in the driveway and such, and another is a hitch attachment that fits in a trailer hitch on a truck so you can lift the rear end from that have have an easy time moving vehicles in/out of the shop. I don't know what the weight limits are but our shop has basically the one step up about that size but instead of the pallet jack style of controls, it has a small standing pad and uses joysticks to control it. Basically the small indoor warehouse ones you find in a home depot/lowes. Also, go grab some skateboard deck grip tape. Put that on top of the forks. gets a little extra grip for basically free and as it tears up, it is easy enough to replace.
Would be cool to change the white to red and red to black. Also would be cool if you could paint a white milwaukee logo or something into the red paint
Crown was bought out by Toyota some years back. I think they actually rebadged Crown as Toyotas now so if you need new parts you may need to get with a Toyota Industrial Equipment dealer.
I know this video is older, but I can't recall in the newer videos if it's still so low to the ground, but if it is, I'm betting those drive tires need replaced bad.
Love the shop upgrades can't wait for the lift and loft... And the idea of the lathe and mill is 11/10 ...nice Bridgeport and metal lathe and you can build anything you want
Coo addition. I’m very excited to see you add a mill and a lathe!
Really nice little project !
if you have more stickers that need a home... that white section on the machine would be prime location to use imo
Thank the Lord you used the hoist to get that thing off the trailer and I could stop yelling at the screen 🤣
I enjoy a lot of the jibher jabber content as opposed to the nitty gritty drift car stuff. Done and dusted.
The back would look super cool with a Marlboro sticker.
Man, with the name R2, you totally missed the ball with not putting blue stripes on it like R2D2!
I scooped up a 3,400lb cap take walk behind a few years ago, literally use it every single day and with ALLLL the metal working machines and shit I’ve accumulated, it’s by far the BEST $1,600 I’ve ever spent. Moved my 4,200lb lathe into place with it, along with my 5k lb press brake. It’s invaluable to me at this point. Now this video makes me want to go clean and paint it 😂😂
Taylor and Josue need victory milkshakes after that!
I was really looking forward to a clip of Taylor going out into his garage, hopping in his forklift, backing out of the garage and driving it into his shop 😂
love it, main reason i watched this whole thing was ive used one of these a lot back in the day in grocery stores. keep up the good content man.
Strong polish flag vibes with the new paint scheme 🇵🇱
Try to track down some good plastic or metal pallets for storing stuff and get in the habit of putting everything on pallets or dunnage. You'll use the forklift much more often if everything is ready to get picked up already.
Also I'd drill a fork for a ball. Its super convenient for moving trailers, but also nice for keeping straps/chains from moving.
Also making a fork boom is nice for picking stuff up. Straddle forklifts do pretty damn good with load center. They generally will do 3/4 or better of the rated load at the tip of the forks. So it will have no issues pickup up an engine with another foot or 2 of stick out.
This is what ilike!!!! You fix up everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes i saw yhis video and saved it instantly. Lets go stand up action woo taylor hording is full throttle
Gotta repaint it white and blue to be a true R2 unit!
Everytime i see the fummins, i want it even more!
