This is a very popular upgrade over here in Europe as it makes the GTI sound like a GTI again. In stock form the GTI sounds like a 1.2TSI unfortunately. The 3 sets of dimples are only there to indicate where to cut the 65mm pipe (the center ones obviously). VW has been doing those dimples for decades on all their models. The sound of the CSS muffler will improve over time, it needs to be coated with carbon to develop that really deep sound. So give it a couple of thousand kilometers to run in. If you don't want to cut your stock exhaust, you can go crazy and add the CSS mid muffler as well, to get the full CSS sound experience. The main improvement comes from the rear muffler though (as I have tried both). Last but not least, the CSS muffler tips are 100mm diameter versus 80mm for the stock. It may not sound much bigger but it's very clearly visible increase while still fitting nicely inside the rear diffusor...

The CSS mid muffler isnt that good, that one wil resonate more then the orginal GTI mid silencer. I can tell becouse I buyed the CSS mid silencer by myself and the sound will get more quieter. If you want to have more info/deatails you can contact me on Instagram @ RICK_GTi
@@hollandbydrone After some more experimenting I have to fully agree with you. The CS-S resonator (mid muffler as you call it) makes the sound quieter. The best sound, in my view, can be obtained by using the stock (GTI) resonator combined with the CS-S rear muffler. The CS-S resonator has more 'holes' compared to the stock resonator, that's the simple reason.
My car is now more famous than I’ll ever be! Thanks for the install guys. Car sounds great with the new muffler. No drone on the highway and it adds some nice noise as you climb the revs.
Matthew Perri Yes, you can tell a difference inside the car. Low rpm - below 3k, not so much, above that and you can tell a difference. It isn’t overbearing. Honestly, it is a good REAL substitute for the Soundaktor. I didn’t notice drone on the highway either.
Some context since I’m the one usually asking questions and searching comments but not seeing replies: my car is stock except for a euro short throw shifter that I bought from ShopDAP. This muffler seemed like a similar OEM+ upgrade. I didn’t want anything loud or something that would drone on the highway. As for price - I didn’t buy mine from ShopDAP, but I think Paul’s price is relatively inline with what you would pay to ship it here from an overseas site. As for difference over stock - yep. Not a huge difference, but you notice it at startup and when climbing above 3k revs. For me, it is a fairly inexpensive way to get more sound, but not too much sound. You can do a quick search and find even better drive by and comparison videos on UA-cam. Honestly, those videos sold me on the CSS muffler.
@@KC-lg8qf I’m not sure if there is a weight savings. If there is, it is minor. No performance improvement by my butt dyno. The improvement is in exhaust sound. It really makes the car sound great on cold start and throughout the rev range. The tips are bigger too so it adds a bit in appearance.

My GTI was model year 2014 (delivered June 2013) that was being delivered to Customers here in Germany. 2013 model year Mk7 GTIs were all dealer demo cars, but nothing much was different. Maybe you have a Mk7.5 (aka 'facelift') GTI with a 7-speed DSG? Due to particulate filter and more stringent CO2 and noise regulations, VW did remove the DSG farts, which dissapointed many buyers that had ordered a face-lifted GTI, expection everything to be 'better'.. Currently I am running a HJS (euro 6 emissions compatible) downpipe with CS-C resonator (mid-section) and CS-S muffler.
if i remember correctly, its about a couple more inches of pipe total on each side of the exits to fit the mk7.5 rear valance . otherwise its the same exact muffler.
If you have a Mk7 gti facelift you need to go with the TCR muffler, if you go for the CSS on a mk7.5 it will not fit. The sound is almost exact the same. 👍
Have you tested between euro and us Clubsport s mufflers. I know the euro mk7 have 1 car while we have 2 cats. I’d be interested to see the difference.

Interesting, it's definitely got a bit more of a growl but at the same time it's nowhere near what I think most people want. The sound people really want is locked behind a restrictive downpipe.
In principle you are right, but when you use a new stock VW clamp, it does not leak as both ends are the same diameter. What was not mentioned is that the rubbers for the CCS are different from the stocks ones. But I guess very few people will be interested in such details..
I tried this one as well but removed it due to severe droning (at highway speeds). But I do have an aftermarket downpipe, maybe combined with the stock DP it might be better..
The tips are the same. The muffler is not. This is a decent Bit louder than the stock mk7.5 muffler even though the video doesn’t make it seem like it.
I find your video to be extremely useful. I actually got inspired and ordered the TCR muffler to fit in my 2021 GTI Autobahn. The install was done today and the sound is amazing. One thing to note though and i hope you might help: the stock exhaust tips on my GTI were on somewhat of a very slight upward slant (coming out of the rear diffuser) and they also seemed to be filling the area where the tips were coming out of. When we installed the TCR exhaust (done by a pro VW /Audi mechanic), the tips are straigter and seem to be a bit smaller? is that normal? i measured the tips of the TCR exhaust and they seem to be at 3.60 inch (outlet). I am thinking now of getting some bolt on slip on exhaust tips for those, can you recommend some that would fit? thanks and keep up the great videos!

@@bigmama88885 Hi. So here is my 6 months update that will also answer your question. The difference between the original tips that were angled upward and the current TCR tips is not noticeable. I'm overly OCD and tbh I can't even see it now. So for that you shouldn't worry. When it comes to the tip size, the difference is not noticeable either as the TCR tips sit nicely in the rear valance. Now here is the fascinating thing: you will immediately notice a difference in sound, when turning the car on and when pulling on the first 3 gears as there is no drone on the highway. 6 months later and with the carbon build up, I hear slight farts when I redline on second and third gear and my GTI is not tuned. (only mods are turbo inlet, hose and filter ..in OEM BOX). I'm positive it will be a great mod for you. Hope that helps

I took mine to Rodgers performance in Ottawa, (yeah I'm in 🇨🇦 as well 😊) and what they did was clamp it (upon my request). Thanks for ur video dude! i just bought a 2018 7.5 GTI (performance pack 245hp). Should i look for TCR exhaust? or use this one from clubsport? Also what other upgrades would you recommend for a daily driver? i was thinking stage 1, exhaust and maybe intake? thanks
This doesn’t fit the 7.5 even though it shows as compatible. You could fit it but with some modifications the tips are further apart by an inch or so on the 7.5
A stupid question: I am simply a consumer who can not tell an engine from a spark plug, but who wants his Mk7 GTI to sound better. What do I do to get this done? Do I show this video to my mechanic? Do I buy this part somewhere and then bring it to my mechanic? I have literally zero clue how this is done. All I can do is order a part and/or bring the car to a mechanic. Signed: a dumb consumer.

Exactly. The cracks are the loudest between 4,000 and 5,000 revs, not necessarily under WOT

i put car soap on my exhaust hangers to get the rubber part off. also helps if you hold the muffler with your feet and pull the rubber with your hands
None of that is needed, just get the special pliers for it, it will make your life much easier.

Yes, there's a sticker with the part number on the muffler, but the number is also stamped into the metal itself

Why not replace the rubbers and use paste for the clamp to prevent leakage.

55mm vs 65mm, so CS muffler does not fit to a Mk7 PP, unless you want to use a nasty adaptor, which will never really seal..

@@bigmama88885 hahahah I thought I was the only OCD person here lol so yeah you'll enjoy the muffler, you'll enjoy the sound, the look and how the car sounds each time you push that "start" button. I took mine to Rodgers performance in Ottawa, (yeah I'm in 🇨🇦 as well 😊) and what they did was clamp it (upon my request). In case I decide to remove it at some point and replace it with stock again or something else. Happy new year to you as well and maybe one day we cross paths on one of those highways. Cheers
@@mikeluv3773Just gotten the TCR muffler installed and I LOVE IT! The louder crackles you get in start up are addicting. Hopefully after 3 months you mentioned there are crackles that come along. I am looking forward to it! 👍

Thanks for ur video dude! i just bought a 2018 7.5 GTI (performance pack 245hp). Should i look for TCR exhaust? or use this one from clubsport? Also what other upgrades would you recommend for a daily driver? i was thinking stage 1, exhaust and maybe intake?

Club sport s exhaust on diesel wagon
This doesn’t fit the 7.5 even though it shows as compatible. You could fit it but with some modifications the tips are further apart by an inch or so on the 7.5
Get yourselves a Clubsport Akrapovic cat-back and show us! Then start trickling them out to the rest of the US!

A stupid question: I am simply a consumer who can not tell an engine from a spark plug, but who wants his Mk7 GTI to sound better. What do I do to get this done? Do I show this video to my mechanic? Do I buy this part somewhere and then bring it to my mechanic? I have literally zero clue how this is done. All I can do is order a part and/or bring the car to a mechanic. Signed: a dumb consumer.

Ralph Roman it doesn’t sound the same at all. Search around UA-cam for longer videos. You’ll notice. Also, I didn’t buy from ShopDAP. They just did the install
