After getting the copper/silver to the finish you want using graded papers, texturing, polishing etc. You can use a soft toothbrush and a small amount of washing up liquid to scrub the oils and dirt off the surface to be enamelled and rinse off using clean water. It is important to get an oil free surface! Before you scub, observe how the water on the surface pulls up into raised blobs/rivulets and will not spread across the surface, after scrubbing you will see the water sheet off with no raised blobs/rivulets. Once clean hold the piece on the edges or area that will not be enamelled!
