  • Entering Golden Demon is one of the most inspirational ventures a miniature painter can embark on - but how does your approach differ from your first time after you've gone as far to win one?
This week we have George, who entered Golden Demon for the first time this year, and James, who won a Bronze trophy in 2018, discussing the differences in their approach to painting for the competition.

100% agree with competition painting making you a better painter, I'm in the middle of a comp piece at the moment and the fact it's an entry piece is pushing me to go further with technique and time spent on each part.

Obviously with GD you yourself must paint the model you’re entering, however has there ever been any instances where someone who’s paid for a model to be painted by Siege studios been entered in a competition?

As in, a client purchasing a model from us and entering it as if they had painted it themselves? Not to our knowledge. This would, of course, be against Golden Demon's terms of entry and if they suspected anything - even a tiny bit - it would be pretty easy to prove as we post all of our models on our social media once completed!

Not currently I'm afraid! It's definitely been discussed though.
