I was in High School and would rush home every day to GL. I thought this music version was the most beautiful thing that I had ever heard. I wished it would have stayed the musical score. Listening to it now warms my heart so much and it's still the most beautiful I've heard. GL was my all-time favorite soap and it saddened me that it was cancelled, it definitely didn't deserve that. I have such great memories of watching this with my grandmother. I miss them both. Thanks for taking the time and providing this beautiful and most favored musical score, simply beautiful.
It was because, more and, more a majority of women were starting to work outside the home, it was also the same reason why As The World Turns was taken off the air and, they both had lost their big sponsorship with P & G / Proctor & Gamble! 2:05
My mom used to record GL on VHS to watch after work. I loved the music so much, I learned the melody by ear on my clarinet in high school and loved to play along. 😆
🎉 My favourite soap. Watched with my granny in the 70's and myself faithfully 90's til series end. I liked all the themes . My favourite was when the lighthouse beam circle around each time , which reglected each deacade it was on. How l do miss Springfield Illinois. As long as we have the Light House in our hearts it will always be our Guiding Light. ❤ Gracious greetings from coastal Mississippi 👋🧔🐻🤠
I always loved this guiding light theme. The best and prettiest. When i hear this gl theme i can still see phillip, nola , kelly, all of them. Guiding light was the best soap opera.

Yes, but, the Coopers didn’t come in until much later! When, Guiding Light began it was supposedly based on Bert Bauer’s Real Life, who also starred on the show up until the time of her death! 2:05 As The World Turns and Guiding Light was being taken off the air because, more women we’re starting to work out of the home and, the biggest reason they we’re going to lose their sponsorship with P & G / Proctor & Gamble! Proctor & Gamble, it made me question why they would have done that, course we know it was was driven by money! But, I was originally born in Cincinnati and, I was familiar with Proctor & Gamble, we always brought their products from them, my hometown school always took field trips there and, my parents belonged to the American Legion and, they started having a test panel there once a year, with their little machines and, since, my mom was a member of the auxiliary she, was a test dummy for them 2 yrs in a row! Yeah, I got over it, yeah, I may have understood and, at the same time couldn’t understand it, but, I did feel that little bit of bitterness by P & G because, we always heavily supported their business and, we continued though and, didn’t hold it against them.
P&G soaps had a way of hiring composers that wrote amazing theme songs that really drew you in, this one and Edge of night early 80s were my favorite soap theme songs and show openings. They really evoke a strong feeling and make you want to watch the show the way a good song and opening does. It’s a bygone era.
Fantastic job with editing this theme together cleanly! I know from experience that this isn’t an easy task if there is limited source material available.
There are both lyrical and instrumental versions of the 1976-1984 theme to The Edge Of Night! Jack Cortner created the music. Same guy created all versions of The World Turns On and On!
Not full! On Friday it was join us again come Monday for another full week of As The World Turns at 2pm and, followed by the Guiding Light at 3pm, Sponsored By P & G and, the little moon would appear on the tv! 2:05
Well, it looks like you’re in for a special treat because I have the complete orchestrated version of the closing theme from “Edge of Night” used in the 70s when it was on CBS. It will be shown soon.

Love it...a great time for the show this music should have remained the theme until end of series
Personally I am glad they changed it out in 1990. Only Love Can Save The World was a great final theme GH. Not so sad as My Guiding Light.
Hear,(stinkin')hear!!
My all-time favorite Guiding Light theme. Thanks for the upload. Sounds incredible!
The Best!
I play these themes when I'm reminiscing about my childhood.
This song was so good they were able to make multiple versions, different styles etc!

Amazing! I’ll love it forever! ❤
This theme was THE BESSST! It was so 80s. And when those strings came in, it blew my hair back. Oh, Mylanta! My favorite GL theme ever!

You know your stuff man!
Excellent
They never should have cancelled this show. When they did they replaced it with programs no one wanted to see.

Back when they actually invested in their television programs. Such a shame they treated their last two shows like shit before they were canceled.
Don’t forget Search For Tomorrow and, As The World Turns, As The World Turns aired before Guiding Light, I couldn’t miss either one! 2:05

I've never heard this theme of Guiding Light... I'm so used to the previous theme "Ritournelle" but I actually like it.
There are both lyrical and instrumental versions of the 1976-1984 theme to The Edge Of Night! Jack Cortner created the music. Same guy created all versions of The World Turns On and On!
The ABC version, both vocal and instrumental have been available for quite some time but they don't hold a candle to the original version on CBS...
Can you please get the Hold to Love theme from the 90s and score music too. They need to provide fans with the 90s Soundtrack
Always

OMG!! IT'S AMAZING!!
Now, if you can get clean copies of the CBS "The Edge Of Night" theme, I could die a happy man!

@@EdwynNSanchez YOU DO NOT!!! OH MY GOD!!!! I MIGHT CRY!!!
@Jake Tanner - I WILL TOO!!!! I always cry when I listen to the theme song.... even when I listen to the organ version of the theme.
@@EdwynNSanchez The theme just leaves you feeling so forlorned...just an amazing theme...didn't like the ABC theme at all...
CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR IT!!
This version is so sad. But it fits a show whose storylines were bleak at that time
Very sad theme but beautiful and haunting at the same time
