Be sure to join us Monday for another full hour of "Guiding Light". Stay tune for "Match Game '88" (if that show was moved to 3:30pm et back in '77 ) over most of these CBS Stations.
I watched Guiding Light from when I was a little boy coming home from school and watching with my mom. At first I thought it was the most boring thing ever, then I got hooked and watched it from 1966 until it went off the air in 2009, the same year my sweet mom passed . That's a long time. Yes, many highs and lows.
@@joshuaecht Totally off the subject, but I always found it funny that in 1985, Phil Collins had a song called "I Don't Wanna Know" and REO Speedwagon had a song called "I Do'Wanna Know."

I haven't heard this since I was little boy before they switched over to the light house theme. Good memories of watching this at my grandparents' house right before Love Connection came on.
Guiding Light was a pretty good show with a couple of theme songs from every season to go along with it. The one theme song from the 90's was pretty darn amazing. I watched a few episodes and it never catches on. I don't know who sings 'Only Love' from the final season, but it was pretty good. Guiding Light ran a couple of seasons on the channel and it was fine for it's time.
This takes me back to my freshman year of college on 87-88. We would all watch GL in the dorm TV room at 3 pm every day.
What a very special show. Even though all shows have their highs and lows, the characters from GL always seemed to resonate with me the most.
The world seemed so much more active and alive back then. GL was a great show with interesting characters.
I loved this theme so much... opening and closing ❤️❤️❤️😁
I haven't heard it in over 30 years! Goodness. Totally my favorite.
Finally! A badass clear copy of this theme! You are one awesome person! Thank you so much!!!
I love it! This my favorite. I always loved it when the credits went long and it kept repeating.
I was living in a group home back then. I loved to hear this tune on the television.

That was back in the day and who was the announcer back in the day for GL?
@@Cmar102 The announcer was Alan Berns. Joined the show somewhere around late 1969 or early 1970, left sometime in 1998.

Guiding Light The Daytime Soap Opera Of All Time On CBS
I like the upbeat tempo of this version of "My Guiding Light."
It's so 80s!
Best version ever! until they slowed it down in 1990
@@ElJefeNLA This theme version was used from 1986-1989
I want those days back forever.
@@progressive59 Me too, man.
this theme song is badass for 1986 when the theme song debuted on Guiding Light
Its an update to the 1983 theme. Moving away from the Beautiful Music style.
The very best Guiding Light Theme.
Totally agree,
It’s finest period by far too.

Thanks for this upload Tomek. I love this theme music. There are other themes that I liked for guiding light but this was the absolute best to me.
Yelp It Was
This theme sounds a lot like "All Right" by Christopher Cross. This theme and the 2002-03 were the most underrated.
Yup
It actually sounds like a Phil Collins/Daryl Stuermer song, "I Don't Wanna Know", off of Phil's '85 album "No Jacket Required."
@@joshuaecht But not as heavy. So the Christopher Cross compare still fits.

This program was recorded
If it did return to CBS it might have survived but then there would have been no Kyle and Reva (Which I'm ok with LOL)
This program was recorded.
Ah, the 80s...high tops, and even higher hair...
Sounds like a mash-up of Christopher Cross "Alright" and Chaka Khan's "Through The Fire". Truly has "'80s pop" stamped over it!
GUIDING LIGHT is a Procter & Gamble Production
Yep, memories of rocking out to this theme & waiting for Hollywood Squares to come on in the late '80's!!!!
Love to hear that closing music of the late 80s
This copy is bad ass, on point
This was probably the best soap on cbs
No doubt.
In the late 80s it was unmatched. Definitely the soap to watch then.
I love and I remember this theme. I was 7 at the time. Love the opening theme and this one. My favorite part is 1:30

When the logo was the one shown on screen here, I misread it as "Lightning Guide."
My wake up alarm
I like that idea!
This theme has a good beat and I can dance to it.
This sounds like a David Reilly song "Trouble Shooting" (1985). Very similar feel. Reilly was a synth pop artist in the mid-'80s.
