What we decided to do with The Last of Us is upload an episode every Saturday as not to interfere with Attack on Titan. We really wanted to watch the show anyways, and we figured you guys would maybe want to watch with us as well! I'm SO glad you're deciding to watch this. The directors really outdid themselves so far for what's released (episode 5 released last night as of this comment). They really take into aspect the game, referencing and matching so many camera by camera angles and shots to really immerse yourself in the dreaded world of LoU. Let's GOOO Studio Gek!

About the gas mask question, in the video game they need to wear gas masks due to spores but they decided not to include that in the show otherwise everyone would be wearing gas masks 24/7 and no one would get to see the characters faces

As an XBOX connoisseur myself, I haven't played The Last of Us but I've watched gameplay and it's a WILD game. I've heard from friends and coworkers about the show and they say it's great, but I think you guys have now actually convinced me to watch it so that I can experience it with y'all. AHHH I didn’t expect anything until aot was over but this is such a pleasant surprise! It’s so fun to see actual first time reactions from all of you, instead of it being some of your second watchthrus like with aot. This was super fresh, and I’m excited for the upcoming episodes.
Enjoy Last of Us. It's absolutely fantastic. Also glad to see you guys going to other types of media. Only recommendation I would make is to experiment with AoT and LoU and see what kind of schedule multiple uploads per day feels like. It'll help keep your fanbases engaged for whatever they're here for and not let any particular group feel isolated/abandoned for what they originally showed up for. The analytics and optimization game is weird one to play, especially since the channel is relatively new. Anime is massive on this platform, and growing everyday, so it's far and away the best category to squeeze for views/follows as relative newbies in the space and have the awesome community come with you on that journey. With newer shows like LoU, tough to say what kind of demo is being targeted, yk? Audience is key.

I'm subbed because I like you guys' personalities and would probably watch a video end-to-end of Cannon losing his mind watching paint dry tbh, but I'm basically just saying for like channel growth. Tbh, it's possible that branching into other media right away and doing multiple uploads a day actually increases the growth rate till y'all are at a level that meets your near-term goals, but it's always good to pay attention to the changes in the analytics when you try new stuff so you can A/B test to see what works best for your channel goals. (sorry for the rant, I worked in marketing and media growth for like 5 years and really want to see you boys succeed. Y'all are probably my favourite internet micro-niche personalities right now)

The infection actually started because of fungi contaminated wheat. In the beginning of the episode joel declines the cookies from their neighbours and the next day the neighbours get infected, and this explains why joel didn't get infected. Its a great story based on the first TLOU game. I hope this gives you guys some more backstory.

Regarding your wondering about if they have to worry about getting the fungus from non-human sources, in the game they do have to worry about spores in the air and wear gas masks a lot to get around it. For translating it to the show, they didn't want to have the actors constantly wearing gas masks so they removed that element from the story. Awesome to see you guys reacting to this! i would also say this episode this episode really is setting you up to be intrigued and more explanations will come in future episodes. I think the point almost is to have you asking these kind of questions so as the show goes on, you find out things as they do. There's a lot of world building to be done so buckle up fellas. I'm also interested to see what you think of the character development as this show goes on cause that's something that was soooo well done in the game, I can only imagine they'll go above and beyond in the show.
Although this doesn't have as much views as aot you guys should be proud. 68k subs and 15k views in 11 hours in really good. especially since it is out of the normal uploads. That means you have dedicated viewers or are attracting another audience which is always good.
Nice!!! This show is definitely going up there with the best shows I've ever watched. If you want another shorter show to react to at some point (since a lot of good animes are really long) I really recommend Arcane. Aot and arcane are like my top 2

I've really been enjoying this series so I'm glad that y'all are reacting to it. To the AOT fans up in their feels: WHY? The AOT drops have *always* only been on weekdays so they aren't giving an AOT slot to anything else. Some people are acting way too entitled in the comments. If you don't want to watch the weekend uploads, or this show specifically, then don't. Wait until Monday.
My mom loves this show & she's in her 60s. I have played this game a dozen times since I got it in 2013. I'm a huge fan and am so happy that more people can enjoy the story. They did a fantastic job on the show!
I'm on board. Just subscribed to Crave (here in Canada) to watch some Last of Us and other HBO content. Just finished the first episode and will be looking forward to your reactions. I played the first game way back in 2019 so I've forgotten some story beats in the show so there are going to be some elements of surprise. They're honouring the source material, but at the same time, making changes to the story, some of which are necessary, so that it's properly adapted to be consumed in a TV show format.
In the games, there’s actually another way to get infected, through spores in the air. The show cut that whole thing out though for whatever reason. Like there were sections in the game where the characters had to wear gas masks as to not breath in the spores and get infected.

They made this show in such details, [thanks to Neil Druckmann who wrote the game TLoU (also Uncharted series) and directed second episode, is now making the show with Craig Mazin (who made the show Chernobyl before)] ─I never played but from what I heard over discussions and show's podcast with creators─ it seems they even captured their characteristic crouches from the game. I'm amazed by the details they put and I'm loving the show so far. Also I was already fan of the lead performers whom I know both from the Game of Thrones and Tess from the show Fringe.

The game is still so iconic in part because that entire start sequence is almost exactly how the game starts (almost the same lines as well), should definitely check it out after for comparison!

i would also say this episode this episode really is setting you up to be intrigued and more explanations will come in future episodes. I think the point almost is to have you asking these kind of questions so as the show goes on, you find out things as they do. There's a lot of world building to be done so buckle up fellas. I'm also interested to see what you think of the character development as this show goes on cause that's something that was soooo well done in the game, I can only imagine they'll go above and beyond in the show.

Although this doesn't have as much views as aot you guys should be proud. 68k subs and 15k views in 11 hours in really good. especially since it is out of the normal uploads. That means you have dedicated viewers or are attracting another audience which is always good.
Nice!!! This show is definitely going up there with the best shows I've ever watched. If you want another shorter show to react to at some point (since a lot of good animes are really long) I really recommend Arcane. Aot and arcane are like my top 2

I know most people, myself included, started watching this channel for AOT, but at this point I'm pretty much on board to watch you guys react to any show. There is something so pure about your reactions. They aren't over emphasized, but rather genuine. I love the side conversations as well between everyone pointing out details and making predictions. You guys have something going for you and I'm here for it.

My mom loves this show & she's in her 60s. I have played this game a dozen times since I got it in 2013. I'm a huge fan and am so happy that more people can enjoy the story. They did a fantastic job on the show!

I played the first game way back in 2019 so I've forgotten some story beats in the show so there are going to be some elements of surprise.
They're honouring the source material, but at the same time, making changes to the story, some of which are necessary, so that it's properly adapted to be consumed in a TV show format.
Honestly, I came here for the anime but I really like you guys so I decided to watch whatever content u guys throw out 😎

In the games, there’s actually another way to get infected, through spores in the air. The show cut that whole thing out though for whatever reason. Like there were sections in the game where the characters had to wear gas masks as to not breath in the spores and get infected.

It's not a "pilot". It is a 9 episode series. The show runners are the guy who did the game "Last of Us" and the other did "Chernobyl".

They made this show in such details, [thanks to Neil Druckmann who wrote the game TLoU (also Uncharted series) and directed second episode, is now making the show with Craig Mazin (who made the show Chernobyl before)] ─I never played but from what I heard over discussions and show's podcast with creators─ it seems they even captured their characteristic crouches from the game. I'm amazed by the details they put and I'm loving the show so far. Also I was already fan of the lead performers whom I know both from the Game of Thrones and Tess from the show Fringe.
I've never even looked at the Last of Us before but this enthusiasm makes me wanna dive into it lol

The game is still so iconic in part because that entire start sequence is almost exactly how the game starts (almost the same lines as well), should definitely check it out after for comparison!
one of my favorite little htings is how Joel accidentally avoided being infected. They didn't have any pancake batter, he avoided eating the biscuits, forgot to pick up the birthday cake. He really avoided all things flour when he needed to and didnt even know
