Archeage Unchained: How to get started with Fishing

- In this Archeage: Unchained guide I will be going over the basics of bait fishing and sports fishing. I will explain the fishing quests you can complete for the +500 fishing boots and the +1000 fishing title.
You will need to collect materials to craft a basic fishing rod and also collect fish to complete the questline.

Please keep making videos man. There is a lot of stuff in this game that is confusing as a new AA player and you have always done great guides. A lot of guides out are really old and it is difficult to tell what we should be looking at and it would be nice to have a reliable source of up to date content that isn't on hiram gear and powergaming.

@@PvtWiggles not hugely fussed about launch issues,been playing mmo's for 12 years now so have seen far worse lol,i been on the fence about buying it since its release due to the past but so far it has what i'm looking for in a sandbox/mmo (i loved heavily crafting/fishing in FF14:ARR) actually looking forward to it,do have one question,how does cross faction work? (i like elf,dwarf,warborn so not familiar with how that would work)

I think you need some kind of shovel you can buy from general merch to create some kind of hole and than you can fish there.

Can you auto fish? Without a macro ofc. Just wondering. Also, what do you recommend to buy with our gilda first if we want to do sport fishing?

Yes you can but not Sports Fishing. to Auto fish you right click on the bait fishing button then cast it in the water and it will just auto repeat :)
FOr gilda's you want to save them for a fishing ship but thats 500 gildas so get a small clipper first for 50 gilda's so you can actually go out to sea :)

Alchemy or sell. I wouldn't recommend bait fishing at all, even at the start, if you don't want to use them yourself for something. It's not needed, a waste of labor and sport fishing in a lake gets you A LOT more gold. For some reason, when people make these videos, they pretty much never mention sport fishing in a lake even though it's easy and much better than bait fishing. It also doesn't have the risk that the ocean has with other players stealing your fish.
@@beiggo21 hey I know this is off topic, but do you know anything about cooking or how to level it up efficiently? I've been doing the very basic health and mana regen food but Jesus... it will take forever to get my proficiency high enough to start making next tier stuff which requires 10k or something like that.

For Reference:
10x Bamboo Stalks
3x Iron Ingot (or 9x Iron Ore)
2x Lumber (or 6x Hardwood)
The quest NPC gives you the Basic Fishing Line, so no need for Cotton and Wool.

the fishing rod quest line is bugged. at a certain point the game crashes when you click on the quest. besides, u get a free rod with an achievement when u craft a rowboat.

Afk fishing is incredibly labour intensive and no, 9/10 it's not worth it.

When I figure out all the changes and test it out properly! I'd expect a week or two until I actually understand wtf I'm doing and have enough labour to try it out!
Can anyone tell me if any of the white quality fish caught while grinding to 10k are used in anything to further refine it?

Great video! It's a shame that the fishing quest makes you build your own fishing rod, kind of a waste of materials because you're given a completed fishing rod from one of the earlier quests.
Yeah but if you are a future fishing guru, you actually need 2 fishing rods. The ultimate fishing rod requires a master's flexible fishing rod and a master's sturdy fishing rod. So you basically need the 2 basic fishing rods eventually :)

Excuse the irony but whats the catch with 120 labor per 2-5g? If you can open 3 purses for 105 labor and guaranteed 5g. I assume the profit gets better?

Compost gave 15 Bait Worm when I harvested it. Maybe nerfed for AA: Unchained?
I've been getting 25 on average in AA Unchained, 15 seems very low :(
@@PvtWiggles Does proficiency affect output? I don't think I have a lot of proficiency in farming or fishing yet. My scarecrow farm is in Dewstone and I heard farming is affected by climate so I'm not sure why I would get such a low number. People told me Dewstone is good land... =/
You need to stay on top of your compost. The longer the compost is ready to harvest the lower amount of worms you get. If you harvest right after the 3hr composting period you will get 25 worms. After 3 hrs the amount of worms lowers. I dont know the depreciation rate but it does explain this if you click the question mark before you harvest the worms.

Don't use that lake spot. You can literally buy one chum and go to a lake, find a flock of birds (there is a school of fish there), throw in the chum and start fishing (can do this at 0 proficiency). The value of the fish in a spot where no chum is needed (pink puffer fish) is 1-3 gold. The value of the fish in a lake i na spot where you need chum is 3-8 gold. Chum is 1,8 gold and the school has to be chummed once and you can fish from it for a long time (other people can fish from it too). That means one fish from there pays back the chum and can potentially be more valuable than the pink puffer fish and you can then continue to fish from it (no need to use chum anymore) to get over 5 gold on average per fish.A lot better than that no chum spot shown in the video.

@@pavelpavel6984 You can't do it from the shore because the schools of fish are not that close to the shore. All you need is a rowing boat. It's completely enough.

@@lauriedavis2821 Look at the map for any lake that has a fish stand next to it. For haranya, there is a good lake in silent forest and for nuia i think it was in northern two crowns.

hello! great vid man! keep the good work! fishing seems to be costly regarding labor and gold, is it worth? at the end of ur vid u show how many gold u get for a fish and how many lp u lose. that isnt very encouraging :(
The example you saw at the end is a bit poor because it's completely unnecessary to fish from that spot. Sport fishing will cost you 60 labor for hooking a fish and 50 for returning it to the fish stand to get money for it. So that's 110 labor per fish without high proficiency. However, the value of the fish he shows in the vid is not really accurate because if you actually want to start sport fishing, you can already start doing that with 0 proficiency by going to a lake that has a fish stand next to it (you can see the stands on the map). Find a flock of birds on the lake because they are always flying on top of a school of fish, throw a chum on the school of fish (you can buy chum from general merchants for 1,80g, the school will turn into a fish feeding frenzy and then you are free to start sport fishing. You just need to attack a lure to your fishing rod first. The value of the fish in these lakes is between 3 and 8 gold. The average is actually a bit over 5 gold i would say. The value of the fish in the sea is 8-30 gold if i'm not mistaken. So lake fishing might not have THE most optimal labor to gold ratio but it's very easy, doesn't take much effort and it's quite fun imo and you can do it at any level. The puffer fish he shows is between 1-3 gold per fish so it's not worth fishing in the location he mentioned unless you just want to test how sport fishing works. The fish you can get from lakes are electric ell, carp and arowana. Sizes are, using carp as an example, carp fry pack, carp pack and gargantuan carp pack. 1000 labor can basically get you around 50 gold on average which is actually not bad at all. It just gets better when you get to fish at sea and when you have a fishing boat.
How do you even get vocation badges?
By spending labour on life skills and also doing family quests, these give like 1.5k vocation for 2 mins work.
@@PvtWiggles What if you got no friends? I started fishing through this guide but after using all the bait worms from the reward I had only 48 vocation badges so can't grow worms and they're too expensive on AH for me.

Same for both. Except if you want expert fishing advice, don't do bait fishing at all unless you are going to use the fish for something yourself. Just find a lake with a fish stand next to it (can see it in the map) and start sport fishing in that lake. Don't use the spot shown at the end of this video. It doesn't need chum but the value of the fish there is much lower than in other lakes where you have to use chum. You don't even need any proficiency to start doing it. Just a chum, a lure and a rod.

The fastest (and cheapest) way to level up fishing is sport fishing but just letting the fish go every time.

Probably the fastest but why wouldn't you catch and return the fish and make a decent profit? it's 3-8 gold per fish from a lake. I wouldn't pass that.

Jesus Christ I didn't even think of this 🤦♂️ I assume it's be ysnetrerere or however you spell it at their sea side town, just look for a fisherman at the docks.
Are we sure rainbow trout doesnt have to be caught in a zone that is Arid AND Temperate (auroria)? That's what the quest says...
Honestly guys if you want to do the quest just buy everything out from the auction house. The time and labour you spend to actually get 1 rare fish is insanely bad.. That sanddep harbour f4cked me over... not recommend to spend anytime on it.
