The part where they jump onto the truck was a area common infected could not get to you. It’s an old trick but that’s not the only place there are tons of those areas throughout various levels. Kinda pointless unless your playing solo. Note Special Infected can still get you however.

That got harder on pc but still works the same on console.
I know I am late but, there is some series of addons at steam l4d2 workshop called retuned campaighns or something like that.I am not 100%sure if it's that skybox you are looking for. Just type re-tuned and you should find those.

However, do keep in mind that, that trick is sort of like bunny hopping. it's very difficult to pull off and needs to be picture perfect. We're talking frame by frame here. You need to jump on top of the grenade at the right frame for it to work.
