You are right man, I was thinking of doing a tier list like that but there are so many out there that my crappy laptop would run out of room trying to grab all the needed pictures For me the freshest models to me is Georgia and Trebizond, but Livonian Order is definitely up there.
@ I use a Laptop from 2020 but now I’m talking about this, I should probably optimize my data storage and just go through the files to clean them out. (There’s also the Microsoft option of going from the standard storage to a bigger size)
@Predator20357 Anything from 2020 really should have enough space for that- if you're serious then yeah absolutely go look through the thing and try to clean up the memory.
actually there are situations when supporting rebels can be usefull, if you have a lot of money and a free diplomat, which is often later on in the game, supporting rebels is basically free and can give you a bunch power projection, and power projection is of course usefull
36:40 When the game gives the tech a year, as in 1674 for tech 21 here, then that means the next technology gets an ahead of time cost until 1674, not the current one. So you would usually get tech 21 around 1660 if you don't want to take techs ahead of time. (Note: Tech 4 is 1453 but doesn't start with an ahead of time penalty for this exact reason.)
Yes, you are correct: in the video when discussing things like idea group unlocks, I did nock of 10/15 years from this 'tech as a year' for a time you would 'reasonably have the tech'.
Potential technology groups tier list? I haven’t seen people talk about technology groups much on UA-cam even though they’re one of the most blatant advantages some nations have over others.
They are some decent advantages, but I feel like they aren't too major compared to other tech, especially later in the game. I think it's also kind of important to distinguish between tech group and unit tech group, because the normal tech group only really changes the maps
Unit tech groups are massive, but they are inherently already in a tier list... The golden gear for the Western comes from the fact that from the 1600s onwards they have the best infantry and close to the best cavalry in the game, while iron gear for the Eastern/Ottoman/Chinese/Indian/Muslim groups comes from the fact that they get the best infantry or cavalry for like 20-50 years at a time usually, while the bronze/wooden gears have really bad units past the first 100 or so years of the game
Tech 2 unlocking naval engagement width is a subtle nod at the fact that naval warfare wasnt invented before 1420, as also shown in their entries to the crusader kings series with the small liberty of not implementing naval combat for only the last 30 years of gameplay available after 1420, a bit unrealistic as we know that naval warfare was invented during that end period of crusader kings but it is a game afterall and you cant expect a feature to be implemented for 30 years of gameplay on a 700 year game.
More advanced light ships have higher trade power too, not just combat power. Light ships still meh but upgrading them does increase their trading and privateering
Once again asking for a policy tier list. No discussion about the quality or usefulness of idea groups needed to get them because that would be too long, just the bonus from the policies etc.
At tech 13 you should have (at least) one full combat width stack. And when you fight a 27 inf versus 23inf + 4cav battle the cavalry is not such a big deal as it would be in 12 inf versus 8 inf+ 4 cav. But having 10 canons or 11, or 15, or even 20, to be there in the back row is so much nicer.
That's true, cavalry only really shines when the enemy doesn't fill out their combat width, which ironically is the most rare at around tech 13. It becomes more frequent in the 1600s onwards, but by then your artillery is already much more powerful
@@maxpont8989 Something that happens often in 1600s is I would have a 23 inf + 21 canon (or 22inf + 20 art) stack detached from a full big stack of like 36 inf + 30 art. That 22inf+ 20art stack will rip trough some random ai stack, that ai throws at it like 30 inf +5cav + 4 art.
@@lanelesic The problem is then that the AI tends to spam out cannons when close to the 1700s, so you still need some cavalry or at least major infantry bonuses to trade favorably past the first century or so after artillery was unlocked
Unlocking artillery is nice but I find its rare that you actually build them right away; and if you are that desperate for artillery, heavy ship cannons can breach from day 1.

That's fair: it is nice for power projection, although I find in SP its hard to have valid rivals.
