You are the best instructional narrator I have ever heard...and I watch a LOT of DIY videos. Usually there's always some gray area between watching what the person is doing and the rationale. This verbal detail makes a world of difference. A blind person could understand this project, and that's exactly what I like. Thank you!

To save some hassle when scoring card for folding, use a knitting needle or awl instead of a blade. It doesn't break the paper layers, giving a more durable crease, and you don't have to worry about maintaining a constant pressure. If you can find a watchmaker's link pusher, they're great for it. It gives the thin lines of a small gauge knitting needle, and comes with a easily gripped wooden handle.

Try moving the phone/tablet closer to the magnifying glass or farther from the magnifying glass. It acts as a focus. You will quickly learn there’s a very small SPECIFIC location ur phone needs to sit for clear images. The distance from phone to magnifying glass plays a huge key roll on how clear your image will be. Same goes for the projector to the wall. Distance for both projector to wall and phone to magnifying glass are key for clear image.. play around with distance for both and you WILL find the perfect spot

Wouldnt it be possible to use 4 collapsible metal antennae from old radios instead of dowels? That way when you lower he bellows, there arent sticks poking out of the bottom, and the whole thing could be collapsed down to just the size of the box, making it much more portable.

Will it work as the phones have some weight and probably it will collapse all the uplifted antennas.

Great project! The only thing i migjt change is to use two telescoping black cardboard rectangular tubes or foam board so one slides within the othet for the focus adjustment. The bellows design is wonderful, but it might be too fiddly for some people to construct.

I know this is an old video but how long do the dowels need to be? Is there a specific length that the phone needs to be away from the mirror? Really keen to try this during isolation 😂 My anniversary is coming up and I really want to make an at home DIY cinema as all the theatres are closed 😊 @DIY Perks

It depends on the lense you use! I'd just test it out, keep moving the phone until you get the desired focus

There is no specified length but it doesn’t really matter just get nice long ones and then try to focus it as best you can when it’s finished

now, what if you were to make this out of wood or metal, and attach a super bright display on the top, then plug in a chrome cast to it? Maybe take apart a screen to have just the LCD by it self with no backlight, then put one of those super bright LED's that you featured on your channel to serve as the backlight. That would be cool.

you could link it to a Bluetooth speaker

I am a little confused with the removal of the phone and replacing it with a piece of tracing paper. Where did the image come from. I would have thought if there is no phone there would be no light to project an image onto a piece of tracing paper.

I tried it and I do not think you are supposed to use it as far as a regular projector. I found that placing it within 3~4 meters from a wall provides really good quality, almost as good as a cheap projector. Still quite good considering this is just a DIY project. The one I made stands on a table instead of a wall. I connected it with some bluetooth speaker and watching movies in my room has never been better.
