Man builds an s9+ from scratch
Gets stumped by a lock screen
fast and easy to remove on pie 9 update or 8
Not really scratch. More like Man assembles a s9 plus. I was hoping he would buy a system on a chip and make a pcb and everything. There are projects on HackaDay where people actually do build phones from the ground up.
@@excitedbox5705 The video wouldn't be as interesting as it is now as he would have to do quite a bit of research and either put most of part numbers on the screen or just compare it all the time with some existing products (eg. "CPU the same as in pixel 3", "screen same as in galaxy S10", etc.) and finished product wouldn't look like a finished and assembled phone.
The lockscreen problem itself shows how unprepared he was for this video, but that's another story.
I think he went I to the bootloader to do it, which is something that not even most Android users know exist.
@@excitedbox5705 He actually wanted to do that when he first set out to assemble the first iPhone, but thought that it would be way too complicated. That's why he didn't even consider that in this project.
As a Chinese, I'm glad you can come to Huaqiangbei in China,😀 Huaqiangbei is also a magical place in China, you can even buy all the mobile phones and accessories in the world in Huaqiangbei
, including mobile phones from ten or even twenty years ago, which is difficult to do anywhere in the world. But there are also many profiteers in it, I hope you can distinguish clearly.

Front Camera (not sure) - $2.32
Back Camera (not sure) - $5

well, we don´t know. maybe it was just his wife watching over the shop while the owner was taking a piss or ordering some parts online in the back office :o
Right.. I was like "You don't even know what brands you sell?" 🤔
I mean they most likely sell parts from hundreds of different manufacturers and we don't know how long they've worked there.
Boss: We sell burgers here
I wonder if it was more the employee being suspicious of what a random non-Chinese person is doing trying to buy Samsung parts. They probably checked with their boss to avoid getting in trouble. It's entirely possible they did have Samsung parts and the boss was just trying to cover their grey market asses.
Apple: No we can only repair your phone.

lol
It's for security. To prevent your phone from getting accessible if stolen by just replacing the sensor..
@@BrawndoQC That security also bricks your phone when the fingerprint sensor gets replaced, doesn't matter if it's the same fingerprint after
@@BrawndoQC Fingerprint data isn't stored in sensor, your argument is invalid
@@kvviingu2507 It's stored on the phone. There's a reason why Apple wants you to pay between $269 and $329 to replace your home button, and it's security. When Apple introduced its Touch ID sensor for the iPhone 5s, the company needed to reassure its customers. Your fingerprints don't get uploaded to Apple's servers.
So accepting third party replacements could hack the stored prints.
The reason you won't find Android parts in a backalley store is because the is no need for that, you can order replacement parts directly from the manufacturer.
The entire reason this market exists for iPhones is that Apple refuses to sell their parts to shops and individuals that don't want to pay their apple certification fee.
And the same goes for other Apple products, such as iMacs. Ultimately as he said, this abundance of iPhone parts is also due to the fact Apple releases fewer models compared to other companies.
You also can order online on popular sites
They won't even sell you the parts if you're authorized.
@KeonXD yeah but the difference is that if the manufacturer supports parts it's way easier for people to buy and sell parts
I will never give my money to Apple again. Huawei is for me!! 💪🏻

Great video, a reason for lack of parts in China is because Samsung actually makes it easy to order them online, whereas apple's supply chain is locked down
Actually there are not many people using Samsung in China nowadays, so it is not easy to get the used parts🤣
Or just low market shares in China. Makes s10 and s9 parts rare.
@@partrickw.gg.8541 I'm sure that's also a factor, though shengzen does repair for other countries so I don't think it's the entire reason
One of the most important factors is that stolen iPhones are sent to China for disassembly and part reuse since the iCloud lock prevents stolen iPhones from being possible to resell whole, while stolen Samsung phones are just illegally resold locally.
or maybe Samsung last longer?
Next challenge: build your own "cyberpunk" smartphone using different parts that is compatible (or maybe you can adapt) to it, choosing what screen you want, what cameras, ports, speakers, and more
Sometimes I think if it's possible today, to build your own custom DIY smartphone, choosing what models and parts of the components do you want, like the mainboard, chipset, cameras, speakers, sensors, screen. If you can find or order such a variety of tech components and custom components on China at the point that you can build a advanced piece of tech like a smartphone, will be wild, a glimpsy of the future
