I'm not searching hydrophobic blah blah for expensive crap, just put RainX on the mirror and rub it in so it WORKS properly, and wipe up the excess. Problem solved.

@@mochixplants you don't need water if you had a heater. Mirror gets fogy because the heat difference. Steam is hot, and mirror cold. When steam comes in touch with the mirror it cools and fogs it up...if you had a small heater to warm up the mirror you wouldn't need any water to start with. Point given is that alternatively you could use a hairdryer on the mirror after you shower. It will dissipate the mist of the mirror so you can use it.

Yes, you managed to get it done, now, you see that more than an overall knowledge is necessary, also the tools, 3d printer and all the gear to make it so.
Francisco Iniguez said it better than me, usually, the person who DO this type of things have all the resources at hand.
That laptop screen adapter on the other hand is a really nice tip to have at hand when a screen for a project is required, but it lacks of one of the main functions of the smart mirror, that it has to be touchscreen and independent, if there's a lot of preparation to be done to get the thing running before you start shaving, then is easier to get the laptop into the bathroom and play wherever on it, don't get me wrong, theres a lot of good and valuable information and tips on your video (the type of paint, the usb 3.0 adapter, using a bank as a source) and also is really enjoyable to watch, but it may be missing the main point of the practicality of having a smart screen as a mirror on the bathroom

Best idea so far! These videos are a constant inspiration for lots of people.
Here's a recommendation: include a rough price estimate for what these would cost to build. I know it's pretty difficult to determine, but maybe you could produce a simple chart including the materials for the project with estimated prices, and builders with several of those materials laying around could subtract that price. Just a thought.

@@almarma Oh boy i have a aquarium, but algae have 0% chance of developing here.
First off, the tap water is mostly sterile due to dubious amounts of chlorine in it. This means very little to no starting ground for algae.
Second off, the algae needs light, and this doesn't provide any light to the water.
Also third, my comment was supposed to be a joke and not taken seriously.

@@lazar2175 Maybe with a lot of chlorine you could get less or no algae at all, but not everybody has that amount of it in tap water. Also, if the bathroom has a windows, it could have enough light to grow algae. I can't say it 100% for sure because I haven't tried, but knowing how algae can grow even inside the tube I use to vacuum the gravel once a week (only once a week gets wet), I have a lot of doubts that this part of the project will work in a long term
