I have had a cabinet in my kitchen that I built myself for almost a year now that when closed, the drawer next to it would not be able to close. Tonight, thanks to your video, I now have a fulling working cabinet where everything closes like it's supposed to. Thank you so much!!!
Your video has been one of the most helpful I have found. I have the European type hinges. At roughly 2:08 you mention the adjusting screw up and down. Mine have that screw as well. Question, how is that screw going to move up when the bottom screw cannot be adjusted up or down at the exact same time? Mine do not move a great deal up or down (seems they want you to use the slotted mounting screws for that). Still, seems one would not do much good to move unless both could move at the same exact time. Remember Dr. Doolittle and the "Push Me - Pull U?"
Really clear, helpful explanation, thank you. Now got all doors lined up, none 'catch' or bump opening and closing. Thx again Dude PS a VERY minor nit....I might have called the adjustment #1 'Side to side', #2 'in and Out' and #3 'up and Down'. Giving SOD or SID mnemonics
It’s just what I needed also. Thanks so much. I’m guessing all European hinges do necessarily adjust the same, as I needed to loosen the first screw to get the door to move the way you showed it. Thanks again.
Thank you so much, my draying rack cabinet door right next to my head, to my right when I wash dishes and it kept on closing, after this video I took a look and it was slightly unbalanced so I close the first hinge screw for it to be balance- and now the door stays open no matter what position I keep it. So little detail but so annoying- finally got fixed haha
Would you please help me, I have a sideboard that I've put together but on one of the doors the hinge is too tight and the door keeps springing open instead of staying closed like the other doors, I've done everything exactly the same but this last door won't close. I've adjusted the screws several times tighter or looser but nothing is working. Thank you very much for your video. xx
On that last option where you are trying to straighten them out and no middle screw. Do you loosen all three of this screws or just the one you touched? I loosened all three on the top and bottom. I then line up the door, but as soon as I tighten the last screw I am right back to where I was. Two screws are Allen and the one you touch is a Philips. I am wondering if I only adjust that and leave the Allen’s tight?
Thanks for this video. My cabinet door kind of hits the next door cabinet before bouncing into place. How do I take care of this? I took a video but don't see a way to send one.
I have a couple of cabinet doors that have a round over on three sides and the center of the doors are squared off so that when they close they meet in the middle. What type of hinges do I need to look at so that when they close the round over is flush with the cabinet. Thanks in advance.
Our upper cabinets have three hinges on each door. One of the doors does not close smoothly, but kind of pops when closing. Any suggestions for figuring out which hinge is not adjusted properly in order to have the door close smoothly? Thanks!
Lots of trial and error. It does sound like one of the hinges is out of adjustment and causing the pop sound due to binding and not being aligned with the others. You can bring all of the hinges back to the same settings (adj screws all the way in/out) and then slowly adjust the hinges at the same amount if possible. As i am writing this, it is most likely your center hinge that is causing this issue. If you take off the center hinge, you most likely will not have any popping and the door should speed up. I would start with making light adjustments to the center hinge until the problem disappears. I hope this helped!
@@Woodworkerexpress Tried adjusting all as you suggested with no success. Tried releasing the center hinge and the top hinge was popping. Reconnected the center, then released the top and still had the popping. I'll continue tweaking the center and top trying to resolve. Thanks again.
I need to adjust one door up to line up with its mate. Do I loosen all the screws on both bottom and top hinges to make this change? How much turn of the screw to make a minor 2mm adjustment?
If you do not have the cam height adjustment you would need to loosen the screws that hold the door to the cabinet, both top and bottom and then lift the door up and tighten the screws to hold. If you do have cam ht adjustment, then you can slowly turn the screw on the bottom hinge and then repeat for the top hinge until you are happy with the door position. 2mm isnt too much so depending on the hinge type maybe a half to full turn. I hope this helps!
It may be. I would take the hinges off the door and see if they snap close without the door. If they do, then they may just need a little more adjusting. I find that if you adjust the hinge and make the door come away from the cabinet it tends to help
If you adjust on screw, should you adjust the other screw the opposite direction? I am having a hell of a time with adjustments to my new cabinets doors
Possibly, depending on the fit of the door. I would recommend setting all of the screw positions in the middle if that makes sense. Such as, screw them all the way in or out and them guess the in between and then start from there. I hope that helps!
I have Tajmina kitchen cabinet hinges. The hinges worked fine for a about 3 months then the soft closing function stopped working. I saw some videos/instructions online showing small plastic pieces on the hinge to control the soft close feature. However, the hinges that I have don't have those small plastic pieces that adjust the soft close feature. Any suggestions?
Hi there, I wonder could you help. I have a Kitchen cupboard hinge back piece which is screwed on the cupboard, it has come loose, can’t see how to tighten it. Is it possible for this type of hinge to be secured from the carcass side, which i can’t get at? I can send you photos if you would like?
Thanks for your video. It would be great if you could remove the bracket, take it apart, show the components and how it interlocks. Then reattach it again along with screws. It isn't easy to do when the cupboard is high up and hanging by one bracket and no one around to help hold it while trying to put in the screws. I could not see behind the bracket so I kept messing with it until it magically snapped in.
I must have some messed up hinges, when I turn the screws inward the doors move toward each other, when I turn them all the way out, they look like they are going to fall off of the cabinet. I can not get a gap between the two doors.
Hi, I have Soft Self Closing Higes in my kitchen cabinets... And yesterday started to close so fast and it hits to hard the cabinet. Do I have to change the hinges? Or is any way to adjust them again?
That is strange that they all of the sudden started closing faster. You can check on the hinge and see if it has a on/off switch for the soft close. This is generally found on newer hinges. If there is no switch it may be time to order new hinges or add soft close adaptors to the doors that are closing too fast. Please give our team a call and they can help you out! 1-855-993-4968
Thanks, but how do I remove the door completely? The door is too wide for the space available, and if I adjust it so that it actually closes, it fouls the cabinet next to it. So I need to remove the door, plane it down very slightly and then re hang it.
There should be a button or lever on the hinge arm towards the rear of the hinge inside the cabinet. Unless it is one piece then you would unscrew the 2 screws located on the cup of the hinge
Please in any video you should put the order number of the hinge that your are showing as a reference to be easy to order that particular hinge, thank you

Sounds like you would need to use the screw adjusment that brings the door away from and towards the cabinet. if the space is on the hinge side of the door you just bring the door closer to the cabinet, if the space is on the handle side of the door you would adjust the door away from the cabinet.

Some hinges have an on and off switch so you can turn one off and then get a faster close
