This is super informative. A lot of stuff that I 'thought I knew' but was great to have confirmed/corrected.
I'm not sure what I like more, the purely instructional videos, or the banter on the recorded livestreams. It's rare to see a streamer who has such a fun relationship with his subs. So many ppl get uppity and offended too easily. Pretty much every MrLlama stream is a MvS and it's the best part of the channel.

Game should stay as is on console aside from fixing load times cause those are absolutely ridiculous on PS4. The console version of this game is the only version that doesn't have a broken economy, if you get good stuff it's either you got it legit or traded for it. There's no duping, no running bots or scripts etc..
@@joemama-cf7sj I bought an external ssd 256gb and i moved my game there and i had 0 load times at ps4. Its not about the game its about ps4 storage system :)

Not sure if anyone has said this but the space between players and the number is optional. example: /players8 instead of /players 8. so for you speed runners you can save that .5 seconds by not clicking the spacebar. :)

id love a multiplayer setting to set games to simulate players count on game creation, so no matter how many players the difficulty stays at least the player count

if that feature is added everyone and their mother will be running LK, Travincal and Hell Cows 24/7 on /p8; that will result in over-abundance of runes and items; everyone will have Enigma, everyone will have Phoenix, Infinity etc

You all purists are crazy sometimes. 40% more runewords/uniqes isnt going to crash the economy.
The economy had 1000x the drops in the past due to duping and bots and there was still a good economy.
And just so you know how that 40% works if currently 10% of people had infinity a 40% increase would mean 14% of people have it now.

I specifically want it because in order to use cross progression (an advertised feature) i have to make online characters.
Which means i have to gimp myself because im playing online but not actually playing online because i havent joined a single multiplayer game because i have no interest in the multiplayer aspect of the game.
Give me an option to make a SSF online character who can enable players 8, won't affect your precious economy, lets me farm more efficiently AND lets me use cross progression.
I find the economy angle funny cuz i bet every person arguing for it has 10,000+ forum points already for that trading site. Like external points doesnt affect the economy.

I like to start a new character on instant /players 8 from the moment I freshly spawn in a new single player game. Little harder at the start, but after the cold plains you'll murder everything and get 450% XP for the rest of the game. Leave Act 1 with lvl 22 ... the game is a breeze and you'll get your build and the skills you want faster. Love it!

Can one of the next videos be some sort of story time? I love all the technical knowledge, but I want some Llama knowledge too.
Im not sure I got you right but afaik, The internal playercount only increases by 0.5 for each player NOT partied and NOT in the same area. So when you split up 8 players in idfferent areas, effectively you only get playercount 4 which is in the 3-4 bracket. if you had 7 players in the same area AND party you get player 7.
Just one small correction. I had to do the math to be sure since I think you just misspoke at the end of the NoDrop section by accident. As you increase the number of party members close to you, your experience goes up but the NoDrop goes DOWN as N increases. This results in DROPS going up and not NoDrop going up as the number of party members in proximity increases.
Best way to do this on battlenet is make a "free for wait" public game and then do your farm lol. Works decently to get some people in for when you wanna open cow level in a corner of the rogue encampment lol.

There is no other way for me to play D2 solo without /players 8, at least when clearing the acts and whatnot (I switch back to players 1/3/5 for farming MF runs), for over 10 years now.
Leveling up, unlocking skills way faster is so much more fun. Same as for being overleveled for the area level you're in.

Question with portal spawns like cow level or Uber. Is the mobs inside based on player count when the portal is created or when someone goes inside the portal?

So if you have 7 friends, is it more productive to group item farm cbaal or split MF many areas? And for XP, assuming no material difference in kill speed, is it more xp per kill to kill a players 8 mob solo or as a group together?

Very helpful video but there are some questions I’ve never found answers to;
1) If playing in 2 person online pt, in reference to item drop rate, do both players have to be near by AND alive? If one is dead, does it still give the drop rate bonus if both are close? ( it works with quests completion so maybe?)
2) With super chests; a) Do the 2 players have to be near by b) and BOTH alive? ( for “no drop” drop rate)
Is just being in the same zone for super chests enough?
Again, all these questions are for 2 person party. I am aware of the 1,3,5,7 bonus for un-partied.

It doesn't matter if they are dead. Super chests only care about nodroprate so are only tied to player count.
Thank you for the video! Much appreciated explanations as always. I was a bit confused as to the 1/3/5/7 conversation about nodrop. Are you saying players 2/4/6/8 will have the same nodrop as players 1? I'm a noob and my interpretation is that every even player count isn't just the same nodrop as the previous players count, but is useless
Players 2 will have the same drop rates as players 1.
4 is the same as 3.
6 is the same as 5.
8 is the same as 7.
The odd numbers are the breakpoints for loot drop but XP and challenge will still increase on even numbers.
And the reason for that is because players in the game who aren't near you in your party only count as half a player for the purposes of nodrop, and the calculation rounds down. So /players 2 simulates one other person not in your party, which counts as half a player, which gets rounded down to 0 other players (no benefit).
I wish this was an option for online too for when I'm playing solo.
The thing that is really stupid is that in old D2 you had the option to play offline and online with the same character....
Strong characters would have no in-game benefit for playing with weaker characters if that was the case. If someone could do a players8 baalrun by themselves and keep all the drops then it would be most beneficial to them to keep doing it solo. Having to actually get 8 people in the game for players8 xp and loot ensures a lot of the cooperation that you see in public games.

Does it make a difference the players command talking about socketed items? (number of sockets in each drops). Or making sockets myself? I'm trying to get 5 sockets in a crystal blade and so far its making 1, 3 or 6 sockets.

So if I a regular mob is spawned at players 8 and everyone leave the game except you does the monster still have the increase drop chance of the players 8 it spawned at? In other words would it be a good idea to join popular games, find a place to magic find, reveal all the monsters and then kill them at your own pace even when everyone else has already left the game?
Yes, this is why players leave the game for ubers portals then rejoin when the Uber boss is found. Then leave again for new boss portal ect.
What about find item on barb? Does it use the number of players at the time of the monster's death or when you use it?

Unfortunately it does not. It's only determined by your Find Item skill.
A boost in there being no drop? So partying up promotes no drops from monsters (minions and bosses)? I am referring to the party up section at 9:50

Question: in silospen, when you're trying to calculate the drop rates, there's an option that says "players" and another that says "party size". When I'm in single player, using the /players X command, which one of the options should I change to get an accurate calculation?
Party size always 1 in SP, players the number you put in the player command.
is the increased drop chance significant? I feel like i griefed myself by chosing online as a solo player lol
@MrLlamaSC Question for you, Does the trick you mentioned for tricking the Ubers with a single player then having multiple players join you work with the Ancients, basically do the Ancients trigger when you enter the plateau or when you pull the fight me trigger?
Yes it does for ancients council boss s etc. Just make a portal outside and run for your life while others join

What is the effect on runes and keys? i heard you say for countess: more player = more keys, for runes, go lower player count? why?
Ive always thought that the number of total players on the server affects the drop rate. Notice how ultra rare untices tend to show up for trade at the same time. I think that when an item drops it makes it drop in other games too, but the grade of the item is still random. That way the server has to make less decisions. But it's just a theory.

I know you talked about this before and how it would be difficult to do for online play - BUT - I really think that if you are online in a game alone and you set player, it locks the game from others joining. This lock stays in affect for the duration of the game. No one can join. This simply fixes any complexity and still allows for online players to get some of the offline benefits. What say you Mr. LlamaSC -- Can we throw this back on the table for consideration?

Does the player count option on consoles even work I feel like shit hits harder when she's cranked up to 8. But I'm curious if anyone has noticed. It's under game creation and it seems you have to start a new game to have your new setting take affect, it's defaulted to 4 if anyone didn't know how to find this on consoles.
Is there a way to do this on consoles? So far my game play experience on console feels like a MASSIVE disadvantage. Difficulty joining games with people on specific quests. Server issues constantly. No chat channels = no trades unless you have a ton of friends playing. Inventory management is a nightmare. No auto scrolling map. This could go on I'm just wondering what everyone else's experience have been, if there any work arounds for some of this?

The amount of salt is real when it comes to loot lol I rarely even see loot before it even drops that's how fast it is.

As far as I know, the item find level decides the no drop chance, so playercount have no influence (if you put some points into it , it usually gets around 50% chance for an additional drop)
What if I open cow level at players 8, and they all leave. Are the cows still at player 8?
this is why you dont have a level 80 do trist runs for you. leveling takes so much longer than just going and doing trist runs with a bunch of low levels

Does players command persist after creating new games like in original diablo?
Until they change how players x command works to how it did in D2 LoD it is very tedious to have to type it in every game, especially if you're doing something like LK runs that take a very short amount of time.
Also curious what the interaction between item find and players count is. I'm guessing it's based off the players count of the mob when it died.
People really do find every little thing to whine about. The feature exists and you have to enable it. You're unbelievably pathetic.
