Your description says it all. I appreciate a reviewer taking the time to actually use a lens or camera in a real-world situation - like making an actual film with actual lighting and composition in mind - instead of just pointing at random flowers and pine cones in their back yard.
Rudy Visuals I keep hearing great things. I’m currently in the process of selling my collection of various old lenses to purchase one of these, myself.
This is the best 18-35 Video I have seen so far.. I've Sony Camera, the latitude to grade the video color is awesome, but the battery such thats why I Can rely on it while shooting wedding. I am willing to buy 18-35 lens but I am not sure how good video quality you get with 77d or 80d.
80D has really clean 1080 footage if you have good lighting but it's not the best in low light. From personal experience I've found sony's like the A7II and III are way better in low light. You could always buy a few more spare batteries :)

Great Video , Sigma should use this as a commercial for winter season promo to sell this lens. This is top notch A+ creative reel, because of this video I am getting one 🙏🏾👍🏾🙌🏾🔥 . Curious, I wanted to know if there was any color correction in post or is this shot raw with just natural lighting for the night scene using 18-35?
Thanks Ron we really appreciate the positive feedback! Yes we color corrected in premiere pro using Colorista. It was shot in just the standard neutral profile. It's an amazing lens. Hope you get it!

They're both amazing lenses honestly. The prime may be a little sharper but the flexibility of the 18-35 is also amazing. You'll be happy with either choice!
Wow, we weren't sure what we were going to see, but this amazing, really well done guys, the quality of both the filming and the edit is awesome. Nice work👍
Thank you Pedro. For this particular video we used a neutral profile and shot in the 60fps mode. We had to use a gimbal though as the sigma doesn't have built in IS.
good job, def have your settings set right, makes your footage look great, i saw a video were they had same set up and footage was horrible because they had shutter speed and frame rate wrong and made video look choppy, your slomo is buttery smooth :D
Great skills. Congratulations Amazing. I heard 18-35 has Autofocus issues. Does it need lens calibration for video ? Did you do lens calibration using dock for video. Thanks
We've heard this too, most of the newer models now come with the latest firmware updates so we never got the dock and never had any issues with autofocus on our 80D for video.
Love this footage I love the color grading! I was just wondering how you got the image so stable since there is no stabilization on the lens?? I hope you will reply!! 😃
Very nice! I ve seen a lot of vids lately saying the lenses have some trouble focusing. I want to buy it, but I don t know what to say. I like the quality in your video a lot, still dont know how it works.
For video it focus perfectly with Canon AF. For photography we found using the viewfinder it would miss focus a lot but using the liveview and selecting your focus point is VERY accurate. Hope that helps!

Hey there, thinking of the sigma 35mm for my Canon SL1 (crop sensor). Was wondering if the 18-35mm 1.8 Sigma zoomed in at 35mm, would be any different in terms of shallow DOF vs the Sigma 1.4 35mm? I'd love the versality of it, as it's nearly the same weight. Just not sure if the aperture at 1.4 would help the better shallow DOF or not.. Still new at this. Thanks!
Ooo the 35 is a great lens too. The 1.4 aperture would give you slightly blurrier backgrounds than the sigma 18-35 as it's only a 1.8 but then you lose that bit of versatility so it's really down to what you really need. We've used the 18-35 with a sl1 btw (100d in the uk) and it works great :D
wow this is amazing. I have the exact same camera and lens. I was just curious about your FPS and film settings? I'm not quite getting results like this. Are you doing color grading after? So are you shooting a flat image? Just curious thanks!
Great video. I am researching a lot about this lens and it seems to be the best upgrade for my Canon 80D. I only got the kit 18-135mm and the nifty fifty at the moment which I've been getting good results with until date but the 50mm is just far too zoomed in and is challenging when shooting in an active environment (plus the autofocus is not that fast especially in low light conditions). Lots of people are talking about the autofocus not being reliable on the Sigma but It does not bother me as apparently it only applies to photography while i am primarily focused on videography + I agree with you that it may go down to human error and perhaps once you get familiar with the lens, you will be able to avoid those unfocused clicks. The overall performance of the Sigma 18-35mm lens seems remarkable but my only worry is the weight! I use the DJI Ronin S and I already feel it's heavy when I put the 18-135mm on which seems to be half the weight of the Sigma. Just wondering about your experience and how long can you withstand recording since you're shooting on a gimbal as well. Obviously, this will vary from one person to another but just a generic question (apologies if it's repeated). Cheers, K
Hi, we would definitelly recommend getting the sigma for the 80D for video. The AF problems are more prominent when you shoot stills.
