Got my canon 80D yesterday and wanted to say thanks for your professional video production tips especially the manual focus tip. As an enthusiast I always trusted the autofocus to do the work but your straight forward and easy to follow tip changes that.
This may be a bit old BUT, I’ve had my canon 80D for a few years and as I learn I go more and more on manual away from auto. The focus I’ve kept on auto but many of my vids I find it trying too focus from what I’m working on to if it catches me or anything else it wants to focus on. Even in manual it was never really sharp focus. WELL, now I know why. I learned something new. I never knew what the magnifying glass was for. Thank you! now I can zoom in on a point of my project and get amazing sharp focused video. Can’t believe all the vids I have watch on my camera this was the only on I have found that had this tip in it.
When shooting video you always double the shutter speed of the fram rate no matter what kind of shooting you're doing. The video will look more natural.
Jo Jo Productions it all comes to your preference. You sometimes need blurry effect then you lower the shutter speed. But ya thats the rule of thumb which can be broken
Love the way you show things step by step and give the links to the equipment you use. I am just getting ready to get started doing some videos and am thrilled to have someone who's gone before to share so much info. Keep up the great work!!!
Why as a professional have you chose the 80d over the a6300? Maybe the screen is better but is under specced. I use to have the t3i and the upgrade to the a6300 is life changing. Everybody says "The camera over heats..." Over heating is not a problem, plus you can work around it. Canon issues are permanent like no 4k, dynamic range sucks, and low light needs a little improvement to say the least. Sony does lack in lenses BUT you can use many adapters, even a speed boaster to use canon lenses. The menus do suck on the sony NGL but every problem has a work around though it's sometimes annoying
Thank you for your help. First clip on the 80D I’ve found that really answers the video end of things instead of just the photography end, which video is the main reason I got it. Subscribed, and off to see what other videos you have on it!
TheOfficialDChaos but good allrpund sony lenses arent really affordable, sadly. I would have gotten the a6300 instead of the 80d if the lensed werent as expensive
Nice, I remember the days when I started on the Canon 60D it was awesome but then Sony cameras seemed to be making videographer lives easier though canon skin tones are always nicer out of the box.
+TbonesTech No problem! I love watching your videos because they are so detailed and they really help me get a good understanding of the product you are making a video about.
bro definitely the best I didn't know or should I say I don't know about cameras but I'm going to start with the Canon 80d to start shooting my own videos new to the game but I'm definitely excited going on black Friday to see if I can get a deal lol thank you so much!
man i love this camera, i have an iphone and i take pictures of cars but the iphone isnt that good of taking pictures. i really would love that camera! thanks bro!
How does the 80d track faces with 24-105L or other L lenses? I have seen lot of people using standard kit lens for reviews but nobody has tested with an L lens. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Why are you using a full frame lens on a crop camera? the 18-135mm efs usm nano lens IS a MUCH better choice, especially with the Canon PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter for that specific lens. I know, I have it since 3 years ago.
I've been eyeing the 80D for a few weeks now. It's time to upgrade from my puny point and shoot. Any must have accessories I should be looking at (especially for shooting video)?
Hey man when you were focusing on both of the Oakley sun glasses you pressed the magnified glass on the lower right, on my camera that magnified glass is not there.
I found your video really helpful thank you, it helps me research my decision on buying the 80D. Also did you record this video using the RODE Mic you showed earlier on , if so how far away from the mic were you in the shoot ? Thanks again.
what is better for filming the Canon 70d or 80d and what is better for like milky way timelapses and day timelapse and also what lens should i use for the type of filming i suggested and also what type of lens should i use for wide angle shots
If you're shooting time-lapses the video features won't matter as much. To get the highest quality timelapses you should be shooting still photos and then making the files into sequences to create a video. If you're looking to shoot wide angle timelapse video the Rokinon 14mm F2.8 is a really fast cheap lens to get started with.
Request you to please put small video on comparison between Nikon D7200 vs Canon 80D? I am looking for all rounders camera as my first DSLR. Or you may also recommend me some upcoming cameras if any. I am planning to start wedding photography and wanted to know which camera will do all my job?
Thanks for the video. Can you suggest an alternative for battery backup for shooting 7-8 hours, apart from buying more canon batteries? some people suggest some power banks which are able to power up the camera for a long time. Any suggestion for canon 80D?
Which make and model 80D lens is placed on your show, it looks like a SIGMA, excuse the translation. Que modelo y marca de lente tiene colocada la 80D en tu demostración, parece una SIGMA, disculpa la traducción.
thank you for your good tutorial . can someone tell me please -- on which canon camera possible to do the TRIMMING AND EDITING RIGHT ON THE CAMERA , REAL TIME ON THE SPOT ? no one SHOW it on youtube !!!
Great video & review! Thank you for the time you spent on it. I am looking to upgrade from Canon T5i to Canon 80D this holiday. I am wondering if you like the stock STM lens or if you have upgraded to USM lens? Whats your preferred lens for shooting sit-downs like this? Also - I use Rode Mic Pro and LOVE IT! Did you find it easy to customize sound with manual video shooting?
Great Vid! just a question, if i record videos of sports, particularly baseball, what are the best settings i can use to record without any blurs or shakiness when there movement? thank you and i will definitely subscribe!
Thank's for your video friend!Maybe you can make an other video, to test those two cameras in low light situations?6D vs 80D for about 4000iso in a internal low light place. Also can you inform as how long, the 80 d can write a video without stop? *The camera dosen't come to the greek market yet, so i want to check that.Thank you in advance!
Did Vincent LaForet use any of those cameras you mentioned? He managed to create a beautiful video with it. And countless others had too with lesser DSLRs.
Hi :) I'm literally holding a Canon EOS T6s in my hand, that I bought a couple of days ago. It's my first DSLR camera but I'm soooo tempted to return it and exchange it with an 80D, should I do it? I'll be filming alot. Will the video qualities of the 80D hold up in the long run even without the 4k option? What do you think? Thanks for your answer!
It is 2017 and you can still use this beast for great looking music videos. Quality, auto focus, battery life is just awesome!

Canon adds a headphone jack and apple removes it. 😂
Canon removed it in the 77d though so they’re not that different than apple
@@jokerperson1572 but apple removed it for good...
horizontal is a pan and vertical is called a tilt
Thank god someone actually knows the terms! Everyone always calls tilt a pan and it drives me nuts!
Tim pizzameneer I said the exact same thing out loud when I heard him call tilt a pan.
Hahaha
We are looking at buying a Canon 80d and watched your 3 videos on it. They were helpful. Thanks so much!

Jo Jo Productions it all comes to your preference. You sometimes need blurry effect then you lower the shutter speed. But ya thats the rule of thumb which can be broken
I didn't even know the video on Canon 80D HAD a shutter speed? I have no idea what I'm doing. :(
Love the way you show things step by step and give the links to the equipment you use. I am just getting ready to get started doing some videos and am thrilled to have someone who's gone before to share so much info. Keep up the great work!!!
Amazing thing about the Canon 80D is that I'm still using it for my talking head YT videos in 2024. It STILL rocks!
I am going to buy the 80D this week so I found your topic very helpful. Thank you.
Canon t7i
You have grown so much since this video; I am proud and I thank you again for the opportunity that you have given your subscribers. :~)
I like the user specific settings on the 80D and its compact size as well as the swivel touch screen ...thats awesome!
Subscribed! Nice video resolution and thank you for nice guide
Your videos are good and informative but I have one question... Why is there so much space between the top of the frame and your head???
because he doesn't know what hes doing he said to put the camera color up and not worry about doing it in post.. that is 100% wrong information..
Yeah... Not In fix Frame
😂

it's good this camera for events? like weddings...etc
This was a really helpful video for someone like me who is still trying to get started. Thanks for publishing it!
Thanks. I never knew about the using the magnifying glass to check Focus while zoomed in. Also will check out the custom on-board picture settings.
Thanks for the settings help. This is all new to me. Trying to improve my UA-cam game. Is it waterproof, and is battery life good?
Great job tanks
this is exactly the info i was looking for. i need a new shotgun, but had no idea what kind to pair with my 80 d. thanks for sharing!
Finally, a presenter who speaks at a rate of speed which allows for those not having English as the 1st language.
I live the way you explain things in ur videos ✊🏾
Thanks man! 😊
@@TbonesTech no problem. Thanks for all of the information you provide.
Great video, headphone jack is for sure needed. It’s about time, got to get me those Bose tho.
I have the 80D and I don't really shoot videos, but it's stellar for photography.
This video was so helpful. You answered a lot of my questions, as far as, settings. I appreciate, ya😉😎

I really like your video. can you tell me which lens it is with the 80D you are showing?
I'm going to buy it this weekend, but is there a better canon video dslr?
What kind of lens are you using? Which 1 is best for video production?
Great vedio...can u tell me which range lenses are good to record a vedio which is happening little far from me.?
Good information but put your tripod a little down, looks off! You are doing great Peter wise.

Compare to canon t6i, how better and heavier is it? Thank you so much.
basically you made the audio really quiet when using the built in mic.
My 650d audio destroy this audio.... but like you said, sounds like it was lowered intentionally.
Very helpful and informative thoughts. Subscribed!
Does the camera record longer periods of time with sd card's with a larger memory space.

Just the kind of info I wanna hear! thanks for making life easier!
The lenses you put on the 80 D are the full frame lenses ? If so , do you need to have an adapter to remove the crop factor ??
Well done sir. So far, I like this camera.
This is extremely helpful! You've just earned a sub with me. I hope you keep this in depth footage coming.
That oakwey wogo came out nice and sharp in manual focus. Great review and very informative Elmer Fudd!
thanks for the information, it really was very useful, can I ask how long can you record video continuously with the d80? thx in advance .

The mike comes with the 80d Creator kit.
Or you can just buy it at Rode.com

Yes you can just the fastest possible shutter speed available so 1/1000th to 1/4000th of a second shutter speed

This camera is amazing. I need one in my life
can you make a video talking about lenses good for shooting video?
So before he puts the rode mic on the canon is that what it sounds like with out a mic
Yes
@@TbonesTech what kind of mic would u recommend for all around sound
Are you using the Canon EF 16-35mm in the video? Thanks.
Wow! Amazing. thanks for sharing the video... cant wait till i start my youtube channel!
Is the 80D better than the Nikon D7500 for video? There's so many cameras on the market it's hard to choose one.
Yes the 80D is much better
How essential is it to wear headphones? Never heard this explanation properly.
Hey my friend.
Which camera is better for film video? 77d or 80d?
how to makes vides:
Buy the canon 80d and rode video mic pro
Get books or boxes and place them on top of each other
=tripod
Saved you 300 bucks
Well then have fun carrying around a bunch of books everywhere
so you nail yourself in your place just because you don't want to buy a tripod? boxes and books?! that is soo stupid bro
Which shutter speed or settings should I use if I'm following someone who's walking in front of me and I would also make I slow motion in post?
Mirrorless 4K cameras like the Sony A7r II, A7s II, a6300, GH4, NX1 etc are light years better than DSLRs for video use.
Did Vincent LaForet use any of those cameras you mentioned? He managed to create a beautiful video with it. And countless others had too with lesser DSLRs.
Didn't see a link for the headphones you use
