  • Hopefully this is a simple enough install, most of the nest app is self exclamatory, its pretty easy. If you happen to have a question please feel free to leave a question here, i will try to answer it as soon as possible. thanks, Mikei

Hi Mike, just an update, I have installed one on July 19, just like what you did on the video for wiring, and it works perfectly. Thank you again. If others have question on how to wire, or worry about not having a C wire, in my case, there is no need for the C wire, all you need are RC, W, Y, and G, your Nest will work fine. Even the Nest video is like that.

Hi Mike, thank you for your reply. There is no rush for this. My thermostat has four wires, just not the C wire. I read somewhere that I could add a 24v transformer nearby to provide the power to the Nest. I didn't see in your video, that you connected the C wire, and that's why I asked if your setup worked without it. Thanks again.

Overall, great video, thanks! the Eco temps you set are for when nobody is home, what is the lowest temp you want your house to get to when nobody is home?, and what is the highest temp you want your house to get to when nobody is home? heating to 63 and cooling to 76 when nobody is home is probably not going to be too economical for you.

Thank you Mike for your video. I am interested in getting this but don't have the C wire. How did you do the set up without the C wire? I didn't see any connection to this on your base plate. Please explain. I currently have the Honeywell thermostat as well. Thanks.

sorry so long to reply......give me a while to research this, i think if you dont have it on your old thermostat, then you dont need one hooked up on the new thermostat....let me get back to you please, i will research it, thanks be patient, Mike

I have the same wire setup as you do. Even with the blue wire in the “y” spot. My concern is not having the “c” wire. Have you had any issues with the thermostat staying charged?

Just an update, i believe the C wire connection is for a 24v transformer if you need a power supplied to it, hope this helps, sorry it took so long to figure that out, and thanks again for the comment, liking and subscribing... i really appreciate it... Mike

Did you not require the nest to be powered via a socket? How does the screen/WiFi etc get power?

THE BLACK WIRE IS FROM YOUR FURNACE AND THAT TYPICALLY COMES FROM A POWER TRANSFORMER THAT IS ON YOUR FURNACE, IT IS SPECIFICALLY FOR A THERMOSTAT.... THANKS FOR SUBSCRIBING, COMMENTING AND LIKING, HOPE THIS HELPS, OH, AND IT HAS A BATTERY IN THERE IN CASE THERE IS A POWER SHORTAGE TO SAVE YOUR SETTINGS, THANKS, MIKE GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR INSTALL

Did you ever had any low battery problem ?
    Or any other problem ?

Hmmm...... let me get back to you, i seem to remember that happening to my wife when i was at work and the power went out, she said that the power level went so low that i said something like it needed charging...... i think somewhere in my comments too, someone sezs that, that wire needs to be hooked up so it charges the unit, hmmmm, dont cement that down yet, let me get back to you, sorry.... its just so long ago that i have installed this, i cant remember......Mike
