    Although it is not FarSight©, Nest E does light up when walking by. It does sense you, and displays the current temperature.
    Good review, thanks.

    My nest e has far sight as the others in comments. Thanks for the rebate tip. I checked my power company and received mine.

    He is completely correct about checking with your local power company. I’m in Portland Oregon and I just ordered a brand new Nest Learning Thermostat for $65. I was literally about to buy one at target for $249 and I always google big purchases to price match and I saw PGE offering new ones for $65.

    I Kansas City I got my Nest Thermostat E for FREE from our electric company if I stay signed up for their rush hour rewards program, plus they gave me $50 to put it in myself. In the summer they can set it back a few times on high demand days and they'll even pay me $25 more per year if I don't adjust it on those days. If I'm too hot I do have the freedom to adjust it. Simple. I've been obsessed with tracking down other utility savings since installing the NEST E.

    The topic discussed about nest e screen not turning on automatically, is not true.
    Nest e does detect your presence and will automatically turns the screen on.
    The biggest difference between the non e and e model, the nest e uses a lithium ion battery, therefore allowing the thermostat to be used without a common wire. Also less working options as mentioned in this video.

    Your comments about the Nest E are not entirely accurate. The FarSight is a further reaching version of the motion sensor that also gives you more wallpapers to choose from such as the clock and weather. The Nest E has the motion sensor that works with the Home/Away features and turns on the screen as you walk by.

      If you are using it for both heating and cooling then check both. Otherwise just check gas.

    We have a new Nest thermostat, but I think is and old one or maybe used one (the AC company install this and never left a box or any manual.... I can't see the 3 different temps from the day. But I need your help, I need to know. When you are AWAY the system is off??? And my mother or people are home get with out AC when I left the house? The system goes to the away mode and turn all off for my mother or the people at home???. I need to remember and turn all on as soon I get out the area. :( That happens to all of you??? We live in the hot humid south and we need the AC on all the time or the house get super hot. Can you tell me if we can change that or what to do? Please tell me few things about this nest thermostat. I have another problem, the system tells me all the time that google stop working? I close that and I can see the app but why they say that all the time??? There is a phone # for me to call the NEST thermostat people and ask about a manual or something that help me to fix all this issues. Thanks

    • @AdKatTech
      @AdKatTech  5 років тому

      Maybe try turning of the home/away functionality on your phone. If you leave the system will set to away, and if someone is home that's going to be an issue.

    Nest E also detect the motion and turns on.

  • @119Agent
    @119Agent 6 років тому +2

    Your description of FarSight is incorrect. All Nest models sense you when you walk by and turn the screen on. Even the 1st generation Nest can do that. What FarSight does is extend the sensor up to something like 25 feet and detects a wider area. That is not for turning on the display but telling if you are home or away. One of the biggest complaints about the Nest prior to having FarSight is it would assume you were away if can't detect you. FarSight helps by making it easier to detect you. It doesn't help though if your Nest is in a laundry room or some other room you don't enter often which is my scenario.

    • @lw1343

      He isn't the only one. I've watched about 5 videos and they're saying "no far sight" even though nest E has it. Somethings wrong somewhere

  • @namronwg

    Video was very informative and clear. One Question! I have a two zone house and what I find is that the room at the end of the first floor where my office is typically cooler in the evening. Would purchasing a sensor for this room make sense? I am assuming it will either sense the coolness vs. the rest of the house or my presence in the room. How does it work?

    • @AdKatTech
      @AdKatTech  6 років тому

      It might make sense for you. Nest makes a small sensor you can leave in the cooler room. Only thing is that the rest of the house on that same zone may be warmer. It really depends how many degrees lower that room is than the rest of the house. I use this in my son's room which is typically 4 degrees cooler in the winter time, the rest of that zone is usually 4 degrees warmer but for me it's worth it. I have a video up on the temperature sensor, please check it out.

    Hi. Thank you for the info. but I have "2 Stage Carrier 58MVB furnace" and "2 Stage Carrier Thermostat". I've told if I want to change the thermostat, I have to get a "2 stage thermostat". On the Nest website shows they are compatible with 2 stage furnace. but Would it really can be programmed to be "2 Stage thermostat"? Or is there something else I should look for?! Thank you for your help in advance.

    • @AdKatTech
      @AdKatTech  6 років тому

      If the Nest Compatibility checker says it will work, it will work. However, from my understanding, keep in mind it will only turn the blower on and off, it will not be able to control it at different blower speeds, just on and off.

    • @joekimtkd
      @joekimtkd 6 років тому +1

      Thank you for the quick respond. My furnace has DC motor and I believe that DC motor is controlled by integrated computer speed controller. So, 2 stage Thermostat decide which stage should be on. so furnace is following thermostats signal to run on 1st or 2nd stage of flame control. I hope they work good on mine too. ;) Thank you again.

    Does the Nest E support the autoscheduling feature or is that only on the 3rd generation?

    • @AdKatTech

      Yes, according to Nest, it does support both the auto-schedule feature and the basic scheduling option.

      Faerimist take it off the wall and plug in a micro usb to charge it. Battery could be low if your HVAC system doesn’t give enough juice to maintain a full battery. Happens to mine, older system.

    I hate this thermostat for so many reasons. First I never asked for it and ARS rescue Rooter of Summerville, SC should have changed it out 2 years ago when I asked them to. It is not very accurate. I have a photo of a HoneyWell thermostat showing the temperature at 81 and Nest was showing 77. It regularly cools differently than how I set it. I set it to away for my vacation and when the power went out 19 hours after I left (for an 8 day trip) Nest decided that I was home when the power came back up. The Nest wifi was offline until I got back home (in spite of the modem and router being on a battery backup and never going offline.

    2nd month w Nest. This thing is stupid. Manually overrode the smart learn thing, it still changes the temp setting. The temp reading was 3 to 4 degrees off. Called Nest they suggested turning it off and back on. It did correct it a couple degrees. Its overpriced BS. Might take it back.

    Buyer beware. If it doesn't work google will run you around trying replacements and other things. If it still doesn't work they will tell you that you're out of luck and you are now out of the return window so you can't get a refund.

    I guess this is a one zone house because there is only 1 thermostat for all 3 floors of the house. I suppose to turn to another zone that would require a HVAC tech. But I'll be getting a 3rd gen....I like the finish more.

    • @Spread_love01

      @@AdKatTech yeah it's an old house from 1931... Maybe with renovation we can make it two zones but the thermostat controls the whole house. It's listed as an 2 family house but only one thermostat does the work. The radiators are all for that. But thank you because you gave the idea of getting another zone whenever that the comes

    • @AdKatTech

      The Heatlink does not effect USA customers, it's something that is sold with European models. For those in the USA wondering what this does, it's a device that comes with the European models, that helps the nest control the Heating system, again this only applies to the European models, USA models do not need this.

    • @giulmen1
