  • 📻 Greetings, Earthlings and fellow radio aficionados! Get ready to embark on a journey through the radio waves as we demystify the art of programming your Baofeng UV-25 Ham Radio using the magical duo - Chirp and CPS Software. Because let's face it, nothing says "I'm serious about ham radio" like customizing your own frequencies with a sprinkle of humor! 🌌🎙️
    🔧 What You'll Learn:
How to outsmart your Baofeng UV-25 (Spoiler: It's not as challenging as deciphering an alien language!)
How ham radio terms are the secret code to intergalactic communication (Disclaimer: Communication with aliens not guaranteed)
Setting up Chirp and CPS Software without summoning radio spirits (but hey, we're not stopping you from trying!)
    📚 Ham Radio Terms Decoded:
Chirp: Not the sound your stomach makes when you're waiting for your pizza, but an open-source software for radio programming. Close, though.
CPS (Computer Programming Software): Not your grandma's knitting software, but manufacturer-specific magic for making your Baofeng dance to your radio tune.
CTCSS/DCS Tones: These are the secret handshakes of ham radio - because who doesn't want an exclusive invite to the radio party?
    🎓 Who Should Watch:
Anyone tired of their radio sounding as serious as a Shakespearean play.
People who believe humor and ham radios are a match made in frequency heaven.
Those who think a Baofeng UV-25 deserves a programming party.
    🛠️ Tools for Radio Sorcery:
Baofeng UV-25 Ham Radio (It doesn't bite, promise!)
Chirp Software (It chirps louder if you feed it pizza)
CPS Software for Baofeng UV-25 (Not for knitting, but you can try)
Programming Cable (USB to Radio - because radio signals need a modern twist)
🚀 Why Program Your Baofeng UV-25:
Because life's too short to be stuck with factory settings! Customize your frequencies and let your radio be the life of the radio party. Who said ham radios can't have a sense of humor? 😉

I like these newer displays on the Baofengs much better. So much easier on the old eyes.

Great Video, thanks! Can I ask what colour your charge indicator goes when charging via USB C? The manual says Red for charging, Green for full, but mine just goes Orange when I plug the charger in? Thanks!

There's a new baofeng UV 18 Pro Max GPS that came out for under £30, listed as 10W, curious to see a power output on that.

Any cable that works with the other Baofeng analogue models will work. Get a ftdi or ch340 cable try not to get a prolific one

Using the included USB Cable. installed the driver and is working in device manager. Get this error when tryng to "Download from radio": UV-17 or UV-17PRO both give error: "Error Readering data from the radio: Not the amount of data we want."Cable is new and came with the unit. Connection is pushed all the way in. Anyone know how to fix?!

Try the UV-5RM , if that fails then something else is wrong - cable , port etc etc

I've programmed 6 of these radios using the UV-17 profile on Chirp and they all worked properly. I think you have another problem like port or not the right cable. Make sure you are using the Baofeng cable with the driver chip on the USB end that plugs into your computer.

    But will it do gmrs?

    • @jdp1956
      @jdp1956 4 місяці тому +3

Yes it will, the radio is fully opened from factory. In the USA that radio isn't part 95E certified by the FCC to be used on GMRS, but the short answer is YES. :)

I purchased mine on AliExpress and when it came it was fully opened. I did not have to do anything. I also have two friends that purchase the same radio on AliExpress and they were fully opened also.

So I did end up ordering this radio. And it is full unlocked! I do have it working on gmrs, and it's a pretty solid rig. Wattage testing shows it's getting a solid 8.5-9 watts on channel 24

Thx for the feed back , would it be better to remove the "ding dong" and reduce the size of the animation or get rid of it all together ? what do you think ?
