I think the reason the acid antlion died upon it hitting the antlion guard is due to a script with its AI package that often prevents it from being used by the player to kill the antlion guard(s) you encounter in episode 2.
9:09 believe it or not, in base hl2, barnacles had no programming for interacting with poison headcrabs. this used to cause the game to crash, but it never occurred because at no point in base hl2 are their barnacles and poison headcrabs in the same area. this was fixed by ep1
Same happens with rollermines, and you can cause that crash without cheats by carrying a rollermine through highway 17 and sandtraps all the way to nova prospekt.

Stalker combat ai is abysmally bad and requires some more thinkering to have it activate in the right time. Stalkers will engage other enemies if they see you kill one of them or in this case of taking significant damage.
it's simple targetting AI. The zombie moved interest to the newest target,but it went too far behind so the zombie moved interest in the poison zombie. It's not intended interaction,just targetting AI

You see, most have the mobility to dodge the initial projectile and take it down. Zombine grenades, however, are harder to avoid because the Zombine is holding onto it while charging you down, and it insta-kills (or at least does a stupid amount of damage).
How is it fair to take away what makes a zombine a zombine. But not take away what makes a poison zombie a poison zombie and if it's to make it fair then there would be no video and no battle because they would draw...
If you attack a zombine's arm, they will drop their grenade. It's an easily countered move. If you don't believe me, load up one of the episodes and try for yourself.
AI aside, do you think the Antlion Guards have a chance against Striders in the story? like it could probably knock one of its legs off and finish it or something
