- Cement mixer roll over and faces backwards on freeway. Been a while since I posted a mixer rollover! I tackled this job with super Dave in his 40ton rotator while I responded with Hulk, my 50ton rotator. It's not perfect but I took sooo much time to mask, blur, invert and desaturate all the colors on this mixer to protect the owner's name.
If you know of this job, please don't spoil it in the comments or I'll have to delete you. Yes, it's a free country and I can post whatever I want, but this guy is cool and he asked so it's about respect. Because of this, I couldn't record it as in depth as a regular video so this one is very short and to the point.
Regardless, it's better than nothing and I hope you guys still enjoy. What did everyone think of my "blur" job lol and the upright itself with my new all synthetic method?

Having done light and medium duty towing and recoveries over 30 years ago, I really appreciate the professionalism you guys show along with your nice equipment. While your videos are only a few minutes long, I know it takes hours when you're on scene. Would you mind listing in your video descriptions how long your recoveries take? That would be really interesting to know.

This one reminds me of an experience I had many years ago. . I was a engineering tech at the time. A similar Mixer truck had broken down as it reached the Jobsite. The drive on the drum failed so it was not possible to empty the load. Concrete starts hardening about 90 minutes after it is mixed- so must be emplaced in that time frame. The load set up in the truck. Turned out the problem was caused by the driver's carelessness. His boss made him spend two weeks inside the drum with a jack hammer chipping the concrete out. Fortunately it was a 2000 PSI mix or it would have been a lot longer to clear out.😅 The driver was nicknamed chipper after that.
A co-worker of mine had a previous career climbing inside rolled over mixers and placing and setting off charges to break up the cement.
Can’t say I blame the boss but man that sounds horrible lol
When I was in Nevada I saw a mixer truck upside down in a creek in the Carlin gold mining area. A couple weeks later they dragged the barrel a mile or so with a big Cat and buried it.
Many years ago a friend was killed when one rolled over and landed on his car, glad no one was killed in this one

Nice and Professional, very impressive.
One thing i noticed when it was on it's side, it has never been washed since it was new. That truck was a mess Before the rollover.
The most TLC it's ever had was when you guys picked it up and set it on it's wheels, nice work.

Good job, looks like a new drum and back to work maybe . Never rolled one, in the 30 yrs I drove them, BUT, some really scary BS though!! Worse scare was when a torque rod broke between the 2 rear axles, with 10 yds on, on a Hendrix suspension, total weight of a truck like this with 10 on is approaching 85,000+ and took 2 tires out, in front of the Rams Dome In St Louis Mo, coming off the highway , had both steering shock cyls break off on the boost a load axle happen one day to, with 10 yds on, coming down a big hill with a stop light at the bottom, was REALLY hairy, hit the up switch on axle and got it raised just in the nick of time, everytime you hit the brakes it would swing the rear of the truck from side to side, about 3 ft!! Not to mention dropping in a sinkhole or ditch and have BOTH rear axles on one side off the ground 1 or 2 ft!! Driving one of these things can be a hairy ride, and YOU BETTER know what you are doing, just a split secound, or NOT paying attention to frames, tires, and weird noises like bolts breaking or suspension parts, speeds turning, and NO rapid turns can get you killed or someone else.
Thoughly great video. If you hadn't mentioned the blurring, I don't think I would have noticed. The coordination between you and Dave made this like a ballet as it came over. Thanks, as always.

I live next to a cement yard. Those drivers are careless and scare the crap out of me. I’m surprised I don’t see these wrecks more often as these guys drive down the road looking at their paperwork instead of the road.

Why is there so many bad wrecks in your area LA ? Kinda seems crazy. Is there also regular car accidents? I towed for years when I was in Georgia, the company had a contract with AAA.

I work inland cement calgary alberta 1988 i got phone call shop a brand new mack rd semi roll on curve on busy freeway near plant downtown.same what you did i was hell mess mack write off yup.the trailer send frame shop for repair.we keep trucks for spare parts due new save lots money.yes pick mixer is very tricky thing move.thanks video help expose work done.😊

I never couid understand how a high center of gravity on a bearing that is above the weight of the load that is liquid and rotating could stay upright at all😵💫

The worst part of these rollovers is if you don't get them up fast enough the concrete sets up in the drum and it costs more to get the concrete out that the tow work.
I wanted to ask how did UNIT 21 / THE BEAST the tri-axle semi with a Detachable Towing Unit its nickname?
If you ever have to mitigate a concrete spill, sugar will slow/stop the setup process, making it less painful to clean up.

Wife and I ran the 710 yesterday and I commented to her, “See all the containers? No wonder Pepe’s is always uprighting containers!” Not kidding, they were a steady stream both directions all the way from the 405 to the 10! And I know the 605 is almost as bad and the 110 has them too. Everything Josh says about the traffic here is true!

@johnnyrebel11 Aghh got it. For what’s it worth in La, there is permanent construction. Esp on the 118, you can pull over and every 60 seconds see a new mixer from a different company. Between all the big guys and then owner ops they’re non stop
