I started as a ready-mix driver about a month ago. At 41 yrs old, I am easily the youngest driver at the company. 12 of the 16 drivers are over 55 yrs old. In 10 years the demand for cdl drivers will be so high that experienced drivers will be able to make extremely high wages.
This is the type of guy I would love to work with. Down to earth, but not easy to push over. A lot of times the nice guys get weeded out quickly cause they're scared of bullies in the physical labor business who quit within two to four weeks.

It's not that simple. ready mix is all about the OT. A huge portion of their 60hr week will be overtime pay due to the nature of the long days and irregular schedule. That 28/hr is probably closer to 80-100k a year, which isn't exactly tent income even for Cali. It will pay the bills as he said.

Take this with a grain of salt, I think it depends on the company & what vehicles they operate if I’m not mistaken. They should specify weather if you need an air brake endorsement or not, some do and some don’t. I had a friend who use to work for this one company in Fontana (Forgot the name) and he didn’t need an air brake endorsement to operate a Class B vehicle. That’s something you might need to ask around and confirm
I do concrete for a living. Not driving, but actual labor and finishing and I make $30 an hour busting my ass in the sun all day while this guy can drive around in his ac and make that. Us blue collar workers need to go on a strike around the world to get paid more 😂 for real either way we need someone to drive the trucks so thank you guys

60 max, winter you'll probably struggle to get 40. Some companies guarantee 40 when it's too cold/wet, so you'll get paid a full 40 that week even if you don't work. Not too bad.
I heard Robertson’s increased the wages for all drivers. At least for CDL drivers, they can make $60,000-$130k per year and they train you to get your license with no experience.
@@artrucking4142 Different states might have different rules about max weight. But up in the great state of Michigan we have 11 yard front discharge trucks. A full load is about 80,000 lbs. Check out the Federal CDL book about A and B. It's mainly about the weight you are towing.

The plant managers pets always got chill runs and got off early. The only time I've ever seen the plant manager Ed or Eddy act cool is when the Redlands plant was voting on going union. Man you should've seen them handing out Gatorades and pizza. As soon as they got their way, it was back to regular hell. I went and got my Class A. It's been some years. But on my kids I honestly can say I made over $114k this past year. Please don't listen to people when they say you'll be gone all the time. Yes working cement your home everyday, broke and tired...I'm home at least 3 days a week.

If you ever work around those guys they do a lot more than drive the shuts are heavy and they have to keep the truck clean
The truck i drive has aluminum chutes not heavy and rinse it off if a splash happens so at end of day just have the auger to rinse and done. Simple
scrape & go's suck .. shutes are aluminum
25 pluse . Lots overtime 20 hrs week. Company paid health insurance. 401k. Off hollidays off weekends. 2 weeks paid vacation.. can't complain 😌 brand new kW .

It's 60hrs over 6 days for this type of work, not the 70 for OTR drivers. The built in 34hr reset works better for M-F contractors needs.

Class A or B isn't about the truck weight. It's about your trailer weight. A fully loaded ready mix truck is about 80,000 lbs.
