Big Excavator Rolls Over in Beverly Hills

- Big Excavator Rolls Over in Beverly Hills. Would you believe this happened right in front of Dr. Phil's $30,000,000 Beverly Hills mansion? We didn't find this out until the end when he drove by, but celebrity and TV star sightings are really common up in these areas. This job came in as a referral and I brought along Alex with me to tackle this difficult job.
We took Hulk, my 50 ton rotator, and Big Flipper, the huge 75 ton rotator, to get the job done based on the initial pictures received. Once we got there, I knew it would be impossible to use two trucks. The incline was much too steep to back up on and two trucks side by side at the bottom was not possible either. We decided to just use Big Flipper solo and got to work immediately.
Step one was to bring the unit close to us so it would be within our boom area. This was done with a 5/8" chain and a Bailey's grommet sling. Once it was within our working area we re-rigged using a Bailey's recovery strap and a different chain for the catch. Quite a few issues came up but nothing compared to my recent crane video. This machine was actually able to be started to retract everything and made the job nice and smooth.
Big Flipper is our strongest rotator and this job really showed the strength and power of what a 75ton rotator can do. Of course the key board warriors will say they could've done this in a flatbed. Makes you wonder why no videos of these 1ton and flatbed warriors doing these type of jobs exist anywhere on the internet though, right? :)

What a workout!!!! Alex and Josh, the way you work together is an excellent example of how to get the job done......you guys are simply amazing👏👏👏👏
Josh, I absolutely enjoy your sarcasm. Dr. Phil approved!😅
Great job. You kept working at it with what you brought and you accomplished the task at hand. High marks!
Crazy how those roads are..great job guys..
What's crazy about them?
I guess it's a bit steep, but nowhere near crazy steep.
I guess you could say that the width of the road is crazy. Crazy wide for a residential road (unless that's a through road to another larger residential area)
Fantastic job, Josh and Alex. You guys got a plan for everything!!
On the face of it to us laymen this looked an easy peasy job. And when I started watching I thought this isn’t worthy of a UA-cam video given your usual standards. But wow ! How wrong was I !! What a recovery. Not as simple as it looked. Great work and great team work. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
Another incredible recovery, you guys are so spot on with the rigging at impossible angles. Very impressive company. 👍👍
It is great to see you two guys working. Bouncing ideas off each other, no egos, just professionals getting the job done.
3:00 - Damn, some people are just so careless/reckless/clueless!
There literally is a giant rig with it's hazard lights on, parked on a hairpin curve on a steep grade, and a dude with a high-viz vest blocking the open lane... And here comes Speed Racer at full throttle like he's the Mayor of Beverly Hills.
Stay safe, Josh and team!
What else would you expect from Beverly Hills.their shit dont stink,oh yea,i forgot, they dont shit there
That was Jack Smith speeding through there because he is the mayor of Beverly hills...
Amazing! You guys really understand the scale of the risks involved, know what you're doing, take your time, and use your equipment masterfully. And Flipper makes the excavator look like a toy. Thanks for going to the extra effort to record and share this. Cheers!
What a job with that steep grade. As usual, a job well done by Josh and Alex. Kinda funny when Alex had to get the dirt out of his shoe😂
That was recovery ballet! Your skill and experience was on display for everyone to enjoy. Amazing job!
Josh and Alex, you two are a fantastic team, and Josh you must have straight A's in trigonometry. Your ability to figure angles and hook ups and where this huge thing was going, just wow. Great video, loved the camaraderie too.
Alex, Josh and Big Flipper are up to the task! Great video.
Good job bro's, I like watching recovery videos and watch you guy's overcome all of the challenges of the particular recovery, no two recoveries are the same. You use all of the knowledge and skills you have collected from previous jobs.
Very nice towing rig you have to, modifying the rear axle to raise up is really cool and fantastic idea.
Thanks again.
I really like watching you, Pratt, & Plaza. It seems you all gat in to different situations that have to be figured out.
That was one heck of a job on a super steep hill. Josh and Alex did a fantastic job getting it up and set where they can now work on it! Great job Pepes Towing!
Well that was different. Really made Alex and you think about how to do it. Great job guys. I actually don't care about all that rich people things. I could pass by all those famous people and never know who they are or care. My normal day to day is enough for me. Thanks for sharing. Much love. Stay safe and healthy
This is a team that is calm, organized, and never flustered.
Yes, for sure. Josh and Alex make a really good team...always bouncing ideas off of each other with no egos involved.
😢 @@normawade9426
Good teamwork as always Josh and Alex. Ya you had inconveniences like soft gravel and a 45° incline but at least you didn’t have power lines. I’m sure hulk was sad that he couldn’t help 😂
It was sad at first I couldn't help but still ended up helping since we both thought up the game plan and rigged together. Always good to have help even if it isn't in the form of a 50ton rotator lol
@@PepesTowingService team work makes the dream work and gets the job done ✅. You and Alex make such a good team. 👊🏻
You guys make me laugh ❤ you both. Great team work
The only way that bucket will curl in is if someone moves the control lever as if they are operating and curling the bucket, unless you break open the hydraulic lines.
That's right
Engine has to be running to do that.
Just crack off the hydraulic lines from the bucket
Just asking, doesn't the big SAFETY level on the left side of the seat be in the DOWN position. I thought that was the main control for any function, so the operator is seated. Again does that lever also have to be DOWN to release Hydraulic pressure. Or is that just a safety solenoid control for just starting.
@@rp1645 That lever is just to lockout the pilot controls, older machines it was connected directly to a valve that blocked the pressure from the pilot pump thus not allowing the pilot valves to actuate the main valve bank. Lots of machines will start regardless of the lockout lever position, some newer machines do have the lockout lever tied into the starting circuit.
Well done. Again, I'm totally impressed. Very fun to watch. Thanks.
As an equipment operator and equipment owner with a construction company with a few rescues under his belt, in Texas. There are few things I would have done differently in this situation. But I don't think this would have been legal in California. The fact you guys did this without cracking the hydraulic pressure on the cylinders and getting this thing up right is super impressive. Respect where it's due. You guys did a great job.
So many skills, and floating ideas, changes, rerigging Content is head and shoulders above some others who also have channels. Safe and sure - Josh and Alex its a pleasure.
Thank you! I love getting these big huge jobs. Nothing wrong with the other channels who post like 95% winch outs and regular tows, but I like doing 95% rollovers and big recovery jobs
Nice job!
Every time I watch your truck in action I’m astonished by how strong it is. And it’s like the Swiss Army knife of tow trucks.
Great Technical Recovery! Awesome job guys...
Incredible job rigging. That seems to be 80 - 90% of the job. You two make a great team, sharing ideas, etc.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Maybe Dr. Phill will show the videos he made on his show. I kept looking for Jed Clampet, but didn't see him anywhere. Thanks
I was hoping for Elly May myself.
That engine can be hydrolocked, so you have to pull the injectors to be on the save side. That smoke showed that oil went into the combustionchambers, hopefully it went good.
I put a Case 580- C on its side when the trailer ramp broke. It sat on the roll cage. No full tip over. I rode it over 😊 when we uprighted the backhoe. I checked the fluids and I thought the battery would have leak out. It did not. The old girl STARTED right up. It totally😮 shocked me.
I’m glued to your channel, I’ve learned so much, thank you
Great job guys and the rigging was fantastic.
Do not know anything about this kind of machinery. I do know it takes skillful experience to do these kinds of jobs. Love the videos❣️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Always impressive! Wow!
I miss seeing your dad though.
That was a really difficult recovery....As i always say Josh and Alex can do it...great video guys... stay safe and see you on the next one
Wow, amazing job under really tough conditions. you guys are the best.
The angle of the dangle was just right. 👍 😀😀😀
Bro I love watching y’all’s teamwork 💪🏻
josh you and alex are the perfect team, you guys just flow perfect with each other on every job.your dad should be so proud at the amazing jobs that you both get done.serious talent by both of you.are you and alex related?since i found your channel every episode i have seen is awesome.
As always, Very Well Done, your rigging was spot on
Absolutely amazing!
Y'all have been getting some challenging calls here lately great work
Buen trabajo, el terreno estaba muy inestable, buen video, JOSE, ALEGANDRO, buen royo.💪👍🇪🇦🖐️👏

Great job JOSH ALEX KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
LOVE YOUR VIDEO
Unbelievable work! Now you have Flipper doing side mountain work. Stay safe all.
Awesome rescue. Top-notch service men & equipment. Congrats! 👍
Thank you
Damn what a job!!! You guys are the best . Really enjoyed this video, bet you were exhausted. Bless the beast of a wrecker.
Calm, cool and collected. You guys make a good team...and per the last couple of videos you guys are getting good in dealing with hydraulics.
A great video as always guys!! I do wonder what the next day was like dealing with that machine.
"You want to help? Climb inside the cab, be ready to stomp on the brakes"
"For Real?"
Classic!
🤣
Great team work yet again! You both sure had a workout on this job! well done :)
Alex, that was art, bro. 🤯👏😌
I live in an area of the northeast that would not allow construction on any land with land greater than 2%. This is to control stormwater. Once again Peper Towing, and tinman and recoveryman have done it again. I love how professional Your team is!
What , no construction on land above 2% grade?
You should double check your numbers
Rules of the NYC DEP, upstate NY is the watershed for NYC. They don't want the city water contaminated. Conn is similar no steep slopes.
If your on a slope the development will also be very expensive as you have to keep all stormwater on your property with Detention Ponds
Mr Josh That one had me sitting on the edge. Awesome video. Stay safe
Super job on the recovery. I was worried that when you got it up righted it would roll down the hill. But as usual you guys handled it.
I watched these rotators work amazing to watch how they do this.
i know you charge a lot of money for what you do but you worth every penny of it good luck be safe
Top team cope with ease despite the problems they faced, well done guys great to watch.
Alex, the mountain goat! Climbs it all. Thanks guys.
Steep Angle on gravel to be hauling up slings, chains, shackles etc and then recovering it down to a distance where you could lift it! Great job guys, well done 👍💕🇮🇪
WOW!! First time watching your channel!! Amazing especially in the compound of the BH's.
thank you for watching
Professional work,great job!
Extra care to prevent further damage, … that’s how it should be done!
That's a great job of rigging and working toghter. Amazing
Thank you for sharing this God bless and much love and respect 🎉😮😅
Amazing, dragging & swinging 33,000lbs off that hill, you guys rock!
Keep up with the good work love watching you on UA-cam god bless
you guys have a complete understanding of your gear and the cause and effect of every move you make ...amazing to watch ...well done Alex and Josha , a great recovery to watch.
"swimming pools...movie stars!" LOL!
Cement ponds!
@@April8989 Expensive cars!
Impressive. Alex is quite the performer.
Big flipper trying out some off roading getting backed up.
We need a cross channel colab with @MattsOffRoadRecovery
Love to see Josh ride along with Matt for a day and Matt get in on some heavy recovery work!
Big fan of both channels, both companies, ingenuity to figure out the situation and get the recovery done!
I suggested to Matt a long time ago to get a rotator, but he didn't think it was practical for his type of recoveries. 😂
That was a tough hillside job with no access. Wow. Well done guys.
Shit man the real estate reports and pretty funny 😂 but watching yall plan to rig it ! Pretty impressive
Very impressed with the recovery vehicle
Incredible machine
The Dream Team, Josh and Alex, on the job again. A very awkward job, well executed.
AWESOME JOB, AS USUAL!!!!
great to watch the masters at work....thx boys
josh is a greta seasoned operator , alex has just been operating about 1 1/2 years , thanks for the compliment
The boss asked me "Why are you dragging that chain?" I said " Because it's easier than pushing it!"
Great video, AGAIN. Thanks.
Awesome job, well done.
YOU IN A BAD PLACE IF THE CABLE SNAPS LOCO,OMG, BLESS YOU GUYS BRO TOUGH JOB AND DANGEROUS.
WOW great job guy's! Just awesome!
Nice job. That was a complicated bunch or work. You men work well together.
What a fantastic job boys well done . Watching from Australia
Looks like another challenging recovery
way to go Alex. good job boys
I operate a top-heavy backhoe, and my secret on steep slopes is to never go fast. Stay at idle and pay attention to keeping the machine from getting close to what you already know is the tipping point of your machine. That is a very steep slope though. Good job of getting the machine back on track again.
one of the best recoveries yet
Another hour video thankyou bro and 106k well deserved stay safe guys
Josh and Alex - always getting the interesting calls. At least it was easier than that flipped over crane.
Josh I do love your videos ! Been watching for the last 3 years ! There's no job that is impossible for you guys ! Peace Out !
Sometimes it's all about Brute Strength *AND* 42 feet of boom!! You and Alex handled that one VERY well!! At least it wasn't another stupid crane, LOL!! Be safe out there.
Wow that was an insane crazy upside-down recovery guys… And on that freaking hillside just added to the fun…! Only on Pepe’s UA-cam channel…!!! Good thing you had those wide Baileys straps…!Then 32:14 & up with the drone to get those awesome & fabulous sky shots… Awesome recovery Alex and Josh…!Josh, I googled Davies Dr. then added your shop address and it’s about 21 miles depending on which you go. I like doing that too… LOL
You guys must have some type a degree for the amazing obstacles of configure... engineering degree, perhaps? I'm just glad I stumbled onto your show. Thank you for your service
I love how Alex loves to troll the keyboard commandos. Y'all have fun and get sh*t done.
It’s the equivalent of a barking dog ready to bite the moment the fence opens very docile . People only talk trash because they are behind a computer screen . Then you write something back and they report it 🤣🤣🤣
for those who dont know big flippr pivots at the drive axel to the rear all other axels before or after are subject to massive side ways forces during sharp turns r thats why big flipper has an air lift rear it reuces the sideward forces when turning tight corners making it easier to turn it has no effect in a straight line except to reduce the weight per sxel the tag will help reduce tonnage per axel slightly its a mathematical and physics bit of maths as the greater number of axels the lower you can get each axel weight in tons alot is done in the vehicle build because you have the service lockers tools and equipment the rotator itself all this has to be calculated by the body builder to allow even loading of the axels / antway god going lads on s difficult job
What I appreciate more than anything else in this video is the total lack of screaming and shouting. Professional riggers take the time to THINK before they speak, and it is refreshing to see a video showing that. Thank you, Pepe.
Great recovery, that machine could have slipped any time ,the right tools the right crew job achieved ❤love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Always the best, never expect less!
The initial flip setup was awesome. Great job, Josh and Alex, for working in a very dangerous and loose dirt situation. 👏
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
I've seen alot of rotators but just my opinion I think Ron Pratts rotator is the prettiest one of them. And I like that he truly takes really good care of her.
I disagree. Flipper is a little bland, but the Hulk runs rings around the look of Ron's and these guys dont preach to you and thats why I unsubbed from him.
Very impressive job. Recovery technology, has really advanced.
An excelent recovery team well done.
Good looking Muy and Jeff team
