30 year tech sales leader here. Agree with the point it takes 3-6 months to simply establish the basics. When hiring, one of the biggest red flags for me is - seeing resumes/profiles where early career reps/sdr’s show huge attainment after only being in a role for a few months. Also love the point that sales has highs and lows, simple as that. ANYONE in sales long enough will experience it; if you’re early career - you can not operate with the mindset that you won’t have setbacks.
Great pod! Just logged back into the portal and sent Eric a message asking about post course support. Went through a competitor and graduated from that bootcamp before I knew about you guys. But every pod I watch, I can't help but feel like I wished, I would have gone through Tech Sales Ascension. I appreciate these pods and am inspired to get after it in pivoting out of my current job into a Tech Sales opportunity. Thanks for these videos gents. I greatly appreciate how open and honest you are about the industry.
This is so insightful, but i am still at square one trying to prep for my first shot of interview. But its still good to have this piece of knowledge on the back of my mind down the road. thank you for this episode:)
Great video, something I'd like to see is if you could offer any advice on what you would look for in a high-quality role. Early in the episode, you mentioned you like early-stage companies, curious how would you go about evaluating the company and where you would pull that information from in order to make your decision? Thanks for the advice!
Worked as a BDR from 2019 to 2021 and moved to CS for a 15k raise internally, capped my commission structure and 3 internal promos in CS later I was at a dead end. Felt like my company scammed me from a successful sales career by dangling an internal raise in my face. Laid off In November and have had 0 luck getting back in, cause on paper, I went sales to CS and that's a red flag to recruiters. I say this because I think some people should actually go get a commission only job, if that's all you can get. It's atleast filling a layoff gap.
@@techsales-higherlevels mix of both, have mainly been doing AE though because I have prior closing experience at a car dealership. Not software related but that's how i've been spinning it atleast.
Higher-levels im 3yrs as SDR for enterprise saas company. No immediate sign of promotion for Ae or bdr as they have not been hitting quota 6 quarters. They floated a potential revops role and if im interested, I said yes. But should I apply elsewhere and not waste time?
Hi I am an immigrant and on a dependent visa with work authorization , looking for work opportunities here in US (Bay area), will I be a good fit for the course can you help me get a job?
Yes, and Visa requirements will vary company to company. Kris is originally from Europe and worked here in the US on a Visa when he was getting started.
I will listen, and love listening to you openly in my house, but I can't let my family, son is 3, hear that sort of language. Please be different, don't make me put my headsets on. That stinks! You both have a ton to offer, keep a clean mouth. Keep professional, guys, you'll reach farther. Thank.
Thanks. We are going to stay true to ourselves and provide an authentic take on tech sales. There was profanity in the title as well. You can always choose not to watch.

This is excellent content, thanks guys. Please keep it coming. Could you do the same angle for more senior sales roles?
Thanks for the feedback, definitely will!

@@lancec42 fair points at the entry level. Are you applying for SDR or AE roles?
