off topic question: what's the best degree to get in the sales tech industry? other than your courses that are beneficial ...
@TheMindsetManifesto- if you like any of the STEM tracks I recommend it. Business/Finance/economics also solid assuming you get decent grades and internships. More than a degree is starting to network and get relevant experience, even if it's a retail job while in college, etc....
I really enjoyed the listen! I left the industry during the pandemic, so I might be a bit out of touch, but from my experience, it would have been interesting to hear more about integration with projection hardware, like theater management systems and monitoring solutions. Also, I wonder if a consolidated, well-implemented rental model (Joymode experience) could help cinemas stay updated with the latest technology or recover quickly from breakdowns. Really impressed with their solutions!
What do you think of proposal engineer? I tried to get some more information about it but no one really talks about it on youtube, tried google it and all I can say is its another name of sales engineer (not sure though)
Super Valuable guys - Appreciate it.
Great stuff. Will done.
Congrats well done.

Really Appreciate this - Super useful for a guy that's breaking into Tech Sales from running 2 startups

@@flu-flamer sick bro, sounds like it
I must say- I just got a mid-market AE role at an A-tier company in no small part because of your videos, even with some previous AE experience, it helped immensely. Kudos on being a great resource!
@@Detoneato congrats! Glad it helped
I could not find the video on the best questions to ask at the end of the interview. Could you link it?
Love the content!
@@AugustAmone thanks for the support!
What should I say when reaching out?
ZoomInfo is a complete scam
Great tips. Would love some content for those of us who broke in in the past few years and are trying to move from BDR to AE.
Message the hiring manager on LI, email or both?
Both, and follow up if you don't hear anything.
What would you say is the easiest way to find the hiring managers/ recruiting team
LinkedIn research
Eric, thank you so much for this video! As always, you’re providing tremendous value compared to many other tech channels and content creators across various platforms. I had a quick question regarding the techniques you shared in this video. Would they be applicable to someone who is aiming to transition into an account executive role? Additionally, I’ve been looking into your courses, specifically the SDR to AE Accelerator. Could you clarify if this course is designed for someone who is already preparing to make the leap to an account executive position? I prefer to focus on information that aligns with where I am in my journey. Based on the course description, the latter half of the material seems more relevant and beneficial for me. Thank you again for your guidance my man!
Yes they are applicable, but if you're trying to make that jump externally, I'd emphasize networking with other companies as opposed to just applying to jobs. If you can build rapport with other reps/managers there over 3-6 months that is arguably more valuable when trying to get a title promotion externally. The SDR to AE accelerator is geared towards people making that move. We spent a year building it to literally encapsulate the SDR journey from day 1 to promotion, including extensive guides on the interview process in addition to the weekly live calls which you would have unlimited access to. If you have any other questions about it feel free to let me know! Hope everything is going well on your side!
Very valuable info. Thanks, Eric.
navigating politics , I guess changing companies or starting a company can be a more straight path to AE
Not sure about starting a company, but changing companies definitely.
Bruh I'm literally presales for enterprise storages
not sure I understand your comment. Is there a question?
Hey man, how much would you charge for an hr of your time. I got a rare opportunity with a very good company as a LQS (lead qualification specialist) basically running discovery calls and I would love to review what ive got with you. Thanks
Thanks for reaching out, have you seen our communities at higherlevels.com? There is live coaching there as well as a community that comes with lifetime access. I have to prioritize coaching with our students there as we currently support well over 1,000 reps. If you have any questions let me know!
I am currently an email marketer and I'm thinking of considering a new marketing related skill. Do you think this would be a logical skill for me to consider? Also, are the roles in the tech sale space remote because I'm currently living in Nigeria and I'm interested in working at big companies out there.
AMAZING ADVICE!!!
Hey kinda start watching you guys I was asking do u guys do any 1-1 call?
@@sulemandukuray2165 we have 3 live calls a week in our tech sales ascension community at higherlevels.com

I like the direct approach. A thing my sales team says is “When in doubt, be Direct”. Question for you. What do you do if you’re unsure if the number is connected to the main decision maker? Do you start the call differently?
Literally just ask if you’re speaking to the right person
Does show rate go down because conversation is so short. Do people just say sure then don’t show at a high rate?
Another stellar episode!! Appreciate the value guys! Could you make an episode where you discuss the stigma's around high churn rate when in SDR roles or the uglier side of sales if this exists? Just good to have a balanced expectation for the reality of the industry?
Already scheduled for 2 weeks from now 💪
Great great video! Definitely helped a ton in preparing me for interviews earlier in the year. Just came back to send it to a friend who is transitioning into tech sales as well!
Thanks!
Absolutely taking this course and hopefully breaking into tech sales quickly.
Great stuff Well done!
Hi Kris and Eric (& community), I’ve watched several of your videos, most recently this video on 2025 prospects, and would like to ask you a (long) question, if I may. For a bit of background, I am a middle-aged career changer who worked in desktop publishing for fifteen years with the last four years writing AppleScripts to clean and reformat data to automate print production workflow.. Later, I made the decision to take a leap and spend a year teaching English in South America. That one year ended up turning into fifteen, including five years teaching at a university in Colombia and the last six teaching ESL online with a German company, training corporate professionals from top global companies. Now, I want to transition into a new career and a relative suggested I think about Tech Sales. My question is, what are my prospects of breaking-in assuming I am as ready, willing and able to run through walls as the 18 year-old recent grad is, and diligent about dotting i's and crossing t's in preparing my resume and LinkedIn profile and with job applications and interview prep? I have to admit to feeling a bit overwhelmed by the variety of potential paths forward. Similar to the proverbial path in the woods, but with ten separate diverging paths open in front of me instead of two. Another consideration is that I own my apartment in Colombia and live with my wife and her son, and have no plans to return to the U.S. I’m specifically looking for fully remote-only opportunities but worry that hiring managers might be apprehensive, especially at the entry-level. I’d be grateful for any advice you could offer that’s germane to my situation, particularly as it relates to landing an entry-level remote-only position, and how to best bridge the gap in my resume.
I used “sales is personal development in disguise” and it blew my interviewer at Samsara away!!
Just made it to the 3rd round for the ADR role at Samsara!! This video & the channel has been incredibly impactful through my journey of breaking into tech sales, coming from a commercial insurance claims adjusting background !!
Slight side question here but very interested to hear your thoughts... What do you think would be be more desirable to get approached about equity senior roles: An Enterprise AE or a Director of Sales?
Hey Kris & Eric I’m currently in final rounds with deel - curious if you guys would be opposed to making an episode about finances in tech sales I’m transitioning from beverage sales 50-60k to now 100k + would love some advice on things like ex: lifestyle creep, investing, stupid things sales folks do with their money etc Loving the content!!
@@BigDrewYT definitely, great idea!
@ can’t wait for that one!! I’ve leveraged these videos, Trent & Matt to break in on a budget-you guys have been a huge help
I recently joined a company that was founded back in 2012 and is a data integration company. A rep told me the commercial space is where you crush quota and make consistent money as an ae when compared to enterprise. Do you guys see a theme across companies where yes enterprise has the chance for big deals, but commercial is where you make a more consistent income?
Do you offer coaching calls for people already in tech sales at the AE level?
@@dot8531 yep, check out our AE Mastery community: www.higherlevels.com/ae-mastery
I think sales ability has much more to do with EQ than IQ. You could be a high IQ killer in sales if you know how to master your own emotions and be able to interpret the emotions of others.
I'm so excited to say i've completed the Tech Sales course with Higher Levels! This course has been such a game-changer, giving me the skills and confidence to step into tech sales world.I'm feeling so ready for 2025 and can't wait to get started.Huge thanks to Higher Levels team.
Thank you for the support!
What are your thoughts on Rippling? I’m in the interview process and all the reviews I’ve seen have been trashing the company. I understand they may be coming from upset employees who couldn’t perform, but I am seeing a trend that it’s not an ideal work environment.
@ostenskarr6197 we've had several students break in there and they have high starting salaries compared to most places. It's a very fast growing company with a lot of upside and I think there's a lot of people making great money. I don't know about the culture outside of our students who have all done well, I'd definitely encourage you to reach out to current and former reps about it as well. It might be competitive, but that can be a great opportunity for the right kind of person and also comes with the territory of being one of the hottest startups in the world. What is your sense so far based on your interactions with them?
We've had lots of students land at Rippling and the overwhelming feedback is that things are great and that they're thriving. Absolutely not a bad place to start your tech sales career.
@@techsales-higherlevelsthanks for the info! Yeah so far it seems great and I’d love to start my SaaS BDR relationship with them, but we’ll see how it goes! I’ll lyk if I get the job!
10/10 episode guys, I cant explain to you how valuable your content is guys!! Keep up smashing it! Aspiring SDR looking to transition from a Marketing Agency in the next 2 years with 0 sales experience! I tested the waters earlier last year and secured interviews at 2 leading FinTech's which shows me I have the right approach and formula. Hopeful for what the future holds when I go all in on my job hunt later in the future!
@george_h2979 thanks and good luck!
The Jobs are there but too many people have the 2021-2022 expectations that the job is just going to be autopilot where positions are plenty, WFH is a given (not anymore for SDR's), and deals are easy to come by without persistent sales skills (not in a high interest rate environment).
Definitely what tech sales normally was, 2021-2022 was an exception. That being said, there is still tons of opportunity, and when I contrast it to my engineering career I would absolutely still start in tech sales today.
I'm at my 1 year mark as an sdr. I got turned down for the smb position supposedly territory was not good and they need someone seasoned for this role. Should I ride it out until Q1 or Q2 or try to apply for an AE role elsewhere? I make 72.5 OTE right now under 50k salary.
@@dragonboy87ify hard to know exactly with limited information. What was the feedback with regards to your performance in interviews and also when future openings will be available?
@@techsales-higherlevelsit was that I was very prepared and built a good internal brand now they just want me to work on shadowing deals past the discovery call. The manager also informed me that the territory was shitty and I would be set up to fail. He expects a new role to open up less than 6 months from now
We are a market leader in cybersecurity I followed your last couple videos and didn’t want to jump. My SDR manager thinks although I didn’t get it. Im positioned higher then the others now
@dragonboy87ify ya a lot to break consider and smart that you're not making an irrational move. How has your quota attainment been overall and also compared to your peers? What's your sense on how realistic that job opening 6 months from now actually happens?
this video deserves to be watched at least 5 times

Both men are stand up guys. Great content! The sales sphere needs this authentic content!
Absolutely. The BRBC has made that relationship mandatory for Realtors, and an unforseen benefit has been the elevation of Realtors as touring with an agent now requires client commitment. At the same time, it really encourages agents to do a good job
