Started playing tetris 99 about a month ago I have less then 24 hrs play time and I am at level 41 started without using drops at first and then i played without switching out blocks also gradually learning as I went and now here I am working on t spins and clears never thought I would love this game so much .Funn! I know that's bad but every time I think I've made a t-shape, the piece won't fit. I even copied the exact example shown in Puyo Tetris 2 and it still wouldn't work. I rotate the piece as much as possible but it never slots into place.
I've made my way into the Tetris99's tetris maximus three times without knowing how to make t-spins and my boyfriend told me that I absolutely have to learn how to make them to become unstoppable, so here I am xD

You will use some of them, and is possible that some of the most obscure tetris games would be using in some weird, special situation. But you, in your life, will not be using it. All of your games will end in a snap with the pussy 4wide." and the class agreed. He told us that he didnt want to teach these things and if everyone agrees, he would just pass the subject. I raised my hand and said no. I wanted to know about. He didnt teach more of that. It was worthless for him and for everyone in that class except me. he banned me and I moved on until I saw a video explaining tspins (it was one of the first videos in english I saw. I dont speak english very well, STILL LEARNING :C ). I loved it. Suddenly (well...a month or two later to be realistic) I was subscribed to some tetris-esque channels like garbocan_ or doremy. Look, I suck at tetris, puyo and shit. Im an idiot, but you dont have to be Einstein to learn something out of your comfort zone if you like it. I like tetris. I suck at it, but I cant live without it. This doesnt have any practical uses for me. But I dont need one. With every video that I have saw, I learn. I dont understand why one would deliberatly setup a T-spin. If the overhang occurs by accident, I understand the T-Spin is a solution to create more points / less cleanup afterwards, but as long as the T-shape is open from the top, you can just drop in the T block and you're done. So why create the overhang? I havent seen that explained yet. Maybe I'm dumb. I just started playing Tetris :-)
I dont really understand how to do T spins even after watching this. But if you pause at 2:47 you can see how making an overhang allows the T block to perform a t spin in the first place. If he didnt place the s block as an overhang he wouldnt be able to clear 2 lines with a t spin. As for naturally occuring T shaped holes. I cant find any when I play. So while your right about just dropping in the T block to an already existing T shaped hole, I dont think its a common scenario.
It's mostly for versus in modern tetris games, if you don't know yet, when you clear a line, you create a garbage line in your opponent's board to defeat your opponent, the garbage list is something like this, you clear one line, it won't send anything, you clear 2 lines, it would send 1 garbage line you clear 3 lines, it would send 2 garbage lines You clear 4 lines or a tetris, it would send 4 garbage lines And a t spin double is worth the same as tetris, which sends 4 garbage lines, while only clearing 2 lines, which is better than a tetris

As a line is 10 blocks wide and every piece has 4 blocks, the best you could do would be clearing 1 line every 2.5 moves on average.
