Picked up 4 for these guys, I've been able to get them to sync up to 1/200 with my t4i and 1/500 with my fuji x100s. Pretty happy surprise I was able to use them with the x100s too.
Well, the remote shutter release actually controls flashes AND the shutter. I'll have it on my camera, as you did, and another on a flash, and I can handhold the flash and remotely fire my camera and the flash. Say you don't have, or don't want a light stand, or want, say a child subject to be looking at what you're holding, away from the camera. All of these are things I've used that feature for. I'm remotely releasing the shutter with the flash in my hand.
I'm still a little unclear after reading your blogpost:
1) if the "flagship" Yongnuo YN-568EX II Master while OFF the camera can be fully controlled via the onboard menu system on the Canon T4i's screen.
2) In addition, using the Yongnuo YN-568EX II OFF camera as a master, can I also control the slave(s) Yongnuo YN-565EX ETTL through the T4i's screen as well.
Ultimately, I'd like to use one 568 as the master, and possibly upto four 565's slaves set into TWO different groups (A & B) for a Canon T4i.
If they can't work this way, what is the cheapest solution as I don't want to have to walk up to every slave and independently have to manually adjust ouptut levels when they are spread far apart.
Thanks and great videos!
Hi, Toby, Thank you so much for the very helpful video. I just wonder if these guys are able to trigger studio strobes?
As always, superb video.
Thank you.
Nice video, you explained everything this radio trigger does well.
Thank you man! i always been watching your videos! keep it coming!
What interface/cord would I need to connect the Yongnuo 603 to an Alien Bees B400 or other monolight? 2.5 to 3.5 are the two sizes (2.5 outlet on the Yongnuo 603 and 3.5 outlet on the external monolight). Any specific spec of interface?
Would love to see you do a full comparison of these versus the Yongnuo YN-622N Transceivers. I believe these (the 603c) do NOT do TTL, right?
Correct. these 603cs are very barebones. I would like to review/compare these, YN-622N and 600RTs at some point.
Have you still found them useful. I'm thinking of buying 3 flashes and a controller for the camera for a couple of weddings I'm about to do. I'm not sure if the controller is a bit OTT tho.
Thank you for sharing this information, very helpful.
i have a question. Is it possible to place another flash on the transmitter while on the camera? basically you have the transmitter on the camera and a flash on top of the transmitter still on the camera.
Hello sir, i acquired the Yongnuo RF-603C viii and it works great for my speedlight in a softbox.
would you be so kind as to tell me if should buy a new st of Yongnuo RF-603C is compatible with a strobe that i wanna buy for a beauty dish ?
much appreciated
kudos from morocco
Please provide your amazon links in the description, for people who are interested in buying. Thanks for your efforts and good videos. God bless you.
Thanks Micheal - I just added the blog post which has links and descriptions. digital.photorecommendations.com/recs/2013/11/yongnuo-flashes-making-sense-of-the-468-ii-568-ii-565/
It would be really nice if you can compare this with the new YN 603C II and the YN 622. Good review as always. Thanks.
I have that in the works - at least compared to the 603Cs - I have them right here, just need to take the time to review/compare. Thanks!
Thanks for your time, thanks for doing that for us. :)
thank you for helpful videos, one question though, does the wireless shutter release button have autofocus? let's say if you press the button halfway ?
Terrific video. Very informative. I bought a set of 3 Yongnuo RF-603C triggers in order to shoot my flashes remotely. I have one Canon 580EX II and one Yongnuo YN560 II and I'm shooting a Canon 7D. The triggers fire the Yongnuo flash just fine but I cannot get them to fire the Canon 580EX II at all. Do you have any recommendations? Or do you know if there is a compatibility issue with the Canon 580EX II?
Thanks for great video, Does this combo allow High speed sync?
Are the 603's able to sync with off camera flash at 1/8000th sec?
Great Instructional Video .....coooooool "cat" you have in the background.
Alexander Anderson Bean and liam often make cameos in my videos- helpfully or not :) Thanks!
Great post, easy to follow. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. while using these triggers, may I still use my onboard camera as a fill flash. I would like to trigger the external flash and use my on camera flash. problem is I dont always have a line of site so I would like to have a more reliable trigger system. also like that remote fire on the camera option.
i know that YN-468 II cant do TTL when off camera flash, but when I read about WIRELESS FLASH TRIGGER YN 622N, that thing have i-TTL, so when i use 2 of them i can use TTL right??
I need help to setup my sony a6000 with multiples flashe using radio signal.. what are my option for a low cost!
thanks !
Hi +Photorec Toby
Thanks for your review
Could you please make a review on the YN RF-603C II + 70D + 430EX II
I plan to grab one
but the seller said it only compatible with 60D
I thought that 60D and 70D are almost the same
Can I work a Yongnuo RF-603C trigger with YN568EXII directly? Meaning not to use another Yongnuo RF-603C and just one used on the camera.
Great video. Pretty simple to follow.
My question to you is this: I just ordered the EACHSHOT Yongnuo YN-560 III Bundle With RF-603 Single Transceiver for Canon. With this flash, does it mean that I can use the small transceiver on my camera and place the flash unit somewhere off camera and it still will work? being that the flash unit is a recover and transmitter?
Toby thanks for the great review of these products. I am using the 560II and find that at times it's just too much! Iam considering the 480 or perhaps the 565EX. Couple questions...(1) What is the sync speed of the 468II? (2) will the 468II work in TTL when connected to TTL receivers like Yongnuo 622? (3) Power output of the 468II...how does it compare to that of a 560II? Thanks!
Sync speed of 468II is 1/160. 468II will do ETTL when paired with YN-622. 468II GN number is 33 and and I think the 560 is closer to 60. So noticeable difference in power but probably enough for most applications.
can you use these with Nikon cameras?
i have bought these rf603c ii triggers and im using a canon 70d i cant get my flash to fire. can you help me out or show me how to set it up? im using manuel mode for the flash since these dont support ttl mode but still nothing. thanks in advance!!
hi, good video, just a question: Can I use the Yongnuo trigger flash with a different flash like Viltrox JY 680a or just with Yongnuo flashes?
could you use the yn 622c e-ttl with the yongnuo rf603c ii
please , i have a yongnuo iv and my camara is nikon d5100 . can add a strobe studio and still use this triggers.
Hi CameraRec Toby
Since there's another shoe on the top of the transmitter, is it possible to put another flash on the top of transmitter for Dual-Flashes purpose?
Hi, I just bought 1 YONGNUO YN-622C-TX E-TTL Wireless Flash Controller for Canon to control 2 External flashes.
I want to have the option of ETTL. So I am guessing I need YONGNUO receivers do I need to Yongnuo YN622C Wireless ETTL? I am guessing I need 2 of them? So the total of 3 items? or am I confused?
Hi Toby, I am seeing on Amazon several flash trigers. I see the RF603 C1 and a RF603 II C3 which says upgrade. Price is almost the same. Is there any significant difference? Using it w/YN 468 II on Canon T5i. Thanks
the 605 works with the canon 430ex ii also
Hi, Wanted to know about external flash firing at HSS mode say for 1/6000 sec. and also second curtain sync for canon. with ETTL. Which model of trigger/receivers?
How can I fire more than one flash using a single Wireless Flash Trigger Transceiver?
hi, are those triggers works with shanny flashes?
Can I use 4 of em together with 1 transmitter from camera?
Thank you Toby.
hey I just bought an ishoot which is similar but can't get it to work with my t3i. I think it may be in my flash settings. can you provide directions on your settings? thanks
Hello CameraRec Toby can Yongnuo RF 603c transfer TTL information in the flash that you used in the video? and which is the better option TTL or Manual?
30 bucks is worth it to me,good vid ty for posting.
Just watch your youngnuo vid. My question is this besides firing 3 off camera flashes can I mount a flash on the camera and have that flash fire in ttl through the youngnuo? I want to use the on camera flash to provide some fill light
Thanks
Joe
Would this work with a canon 5d mark iii to trigger a canon 430EX II Speedlight off camera ( wirelessly)?
Hello! Can I use this to trigger my stand studio flash as well? I tried, but it doesn't work.
Hi, Will the upgraded version RF 603C-11 work on a Canon 70 D? I don't see that Canon model listed as being supported on the Amazon specs. Thanks
Hi Toby. Very helpful as usual. When you mention towards the end of the video that these work "manual only, not TTL" did you mean that these triggers won't fire the off camera flash in TTL mode at all or that the particular Yongnuo model you're using can't do TTL. I have a Yongnuo flash that has TTL capabilities (I think its the 565 or something like that) and I'm wondering if they'll do off camera TTL with these triggers. Also, when you use the cord to fire the camera shutter will it autofocus when you press half way. Thanx a million.
They will not do TTL even with a TTL flash - not enough communication between the receivers. I will have to get back to you on your second question - just left home for a week of family time and left those behind. Remind me 1st week in Dec and I will double check about the ½ press focus.
I'm fairly new to all of this so please excuse (what I assume is a very simple). I have a Canon T4i, Yongnuo 560ii, and the Yongnuo 603C. I can get the 560's to work if I have them on wireless with my camera (Slave mode). When I try to use the 603C's - they never work. What am I missing? Camera flash is enabled, 560's are on M mode... and I'm really not sure theres anything else to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Took me forever to figure out, but set your Yongnuo 560IV flash to M (Manual) RX - the RX is in tiny letters next to a graphic of a flash when you're changing modes. Good luck!
i want a nice and cheap flash fot a t4i and a 70D, what would you recomend? it is not intended for very pro use but i want to make good photos
thx for nice review.I think about flash for Canon 700D from Yongnuo... 560IV will be good?
By mistake I bought wrong version of canon trigger for 550d. If I buy the correct version, would the new once be able to trigger the wrong version (at least manual, if not ETTL)?
Hey Toby, any chance to know if Nikon F100 and Nikon Sb-28 flash are compatible with that dude triggers?
Hi! Toby pls. help me, my YN560-III won't work on my canon 70D. When I mounted on my camera and try to set-up the external flash (it says flash is not compatible or flash power is off even it is on) I also have rf603-CII-C1 it is working on YN560-III but not with the camera. Pls help I am a beginner. Thanks in advance
can the Yongnuo be used with sony a6500..?
Toby, I have the yongnuo rf603c ii on my mk3 with a 430ex ii and it seems to only use in manual. It doesn't evaluate the distance or anything. I have to manually adjust my flash every time instead of being in auto. Am I doing something wrong? And I think it doesn't recognize that is plugged in when I go to menu on my mk3 although it fires.
Excril 430EXii will only operate in manual in this case. RF603 (and RF605) are basic triggers only. Get the 560Tx trigger and couple with YN560iv (and YN560iii) and you can adjust flash settings from the 560Tx trigger mounted on camera
does it work with yn 460ii????
hey, thanks for SIMPLY explained review!! I have a question, If I buy two RF 603 ii C3 triggers, will it work for my canon 5DII + canon 430 exII and yn 560 III together? the youngnuo 560 III should have the receiver built in, Im just not sure if my 5D with the trigger will activate both flashes .. thanks!!
lokooot A 560Tx should be able to trigger your YN560iii directly (with settings adjustable on the 560Tx). If you add a single RF603Cii or RF605C, then you can also trigger the 430EXii but adjustments for power etc will be on the 430 flash itself.
Hey Toby, I have the canon T5i, and I was wondering If you could give me a link to these flash transmitters with the cable that is compatible with the T5i. I would like to use the wireless shutter capability but I'm not sure which package includes the cable that works with the T5i. Thanks in advance!

HI Toby,I am a subscriber and love your shows. So I thought I'd ask you about a tricky problem I'm having. I have a Canon 70D and a pair of the RF603 C ll triggers. BUT - the two triggers will only work together and fire my Yongnuo 560 ll speedlite when I use the sync cord (that came with the triggers) attached to my camera and to one of the triggers mounted on the 70D's hot shoe. I get full functionality this way(remote shutter release etc), but NO fully wireless function like I see everyone else (yourself included) having. The green lights show the correct patterns when I press the shutter button, but the speedlite won't flash. The triggers are matched in frequency. The flash is set to manual mode. The camera is set to manual mode with a shutter speed of no more than 1/125th.Could I just have a bad pair of triggers?I hope you can help...?
Did you make sure your flash is not in slave mode? That could be the issue
+Robert Morrison Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes it is/was in manual mode. Turns out the pair I had were faulty. They only receive and do not transmit unless cable attached. Got no quibble refund offered by seller (with no need to return faulty units) so I bought another pair which work as they should straight out of the box. So essentially got 4 (with 2 in slave mode essentially) for the price of 2. So happy days.
Hello, I have a question. Will Yongnuo wireless trigger work with Canon Speedlite flashes? Thanks in Advance.
Yes but you lose TTL with the cheap ones. The 622N do allow ETTL www.amzn.com/B00CXM03D2/?tag=emaildpr-20
Thank you very much.
Can i use Rf-603c in YONGNUO YN568 EX II TTL Flash Speedlite?
Arnold Cerbas You will not have TTL control with RF602/3/5 series but it should trigger that flash in manual mode. You would need the YN622 series trigger for TTL control. If you haven't purchased flash, determine if you really need TTL. If not the 560Tx and YN560iv will work well without needing any RF602/3/5 triggers (the 560Tx will also fire flashes via RF602/3/5 used as receivers)
Thank you very much for the info David Arthur ....
can it work with the canon 430ex ii?
+FixedLife Yes but it won't communicate directly with the 430EX II. You will need the receiver and transmitter (which it comes with)
my flAsh doesnt fires on the trigger but works fine on the camera ..??? HELP
rabia khan Are the triggers on the same channel and group? For Canon flash - need to set to Manual.
Do you know what speed these transmitters sync at?
1/160. Not the fastest.
CameraRec Toby
I thought on something like the Canon 7D or 5DM3 these triggers would sync at 1/250th?
I Need 2 Flash to Fire At the Same Time .... Using Umbrella !!!! How Can i Do That !!????
Youngnu RF-603c is compatible with d5300? i need an answer? or what kind of wireless flash trigger should i buy for my Nikon d5300? i need an answer asap. THANK YOU
Zal-make sure you get the Yongnuo RF-603N for Nikon..not the RF-603C..N for Nikon..C for Canon...just got mine today for my Nikon..they are great
2019 checking in
Nice review but your description on it being an optical wireless system is totally incorrect.
This is a transceiver meaning that it is operated by a radio signal so it will work even if the flash is in the back of the camera. Again not optical.
