I was trying to test these before i got them to my camera and was worried that they didn't sync! You're the only person that explains about no test shot functionality. Thanks, now I can get on with my day in peace till I get home :)
I got a bunch of RF-602's and they're great. The farthest i've use it was about 30 meters and it was working just fine. I see no real need to upgrade to the 603's. Good to see them working on making it even beter then it already was. Only downside with the 602's is that there is no way to lock it down on top of the camera. Mine has fell off a few times.
Had my 603s for a few years now and are simply great, Yongnuo has definitely set the bar for reliable and affordable triggers and even flashes, giving Nikon, Canon and Pocket Wizard a run for their money. Along with the 603s (which I use mainly for wireless shutter release), I have a set of 622Cs for my flash needs. I am looking at replacing the 603s with the new 605s, which looks to be a great new upgrade.
Thanks great information. I found another cool use. Frame up your shot on a tripod one trigger on the camera(with shutter cable) and the other trigger under your flash. You can walk around with your flash, say profile or behind your subject, and push the button on flash trigger to take the shot! Best reliable value triggers I use them all the time, mostly for just remote shutter. Only one minor complaint, they can't really do high speed flash sync over 1/320 But you can cheat in bright daylight, just to get enough fill without seeing shutter roll.
pretty sure you can have as many as you want as long as they're on the same frequency. you can also have triggers on 2 cameras and they work the same flashes
There are different model numbers depending on the camera. I have a 5D. For example the RF-603 followed by a C3 (5D and other models) or C1 (Rebel and certain models) is for Canon. For Nikon it is N3 or N1. Also you can not use TTL with these triggers. Look into the YN-622 for that.
Thanks for the video. I tried reading the manual for the Yongnuo YN560 III but they didn't explain this so that I could understand the Chinglish. I have the YN603N as well. I found that you have to be careful setting up the channels as I think the switches on the 603's are a little bit unreliable. By flipping the switches a little bit I finally got them both on channel 1 even though they appeared to be set to channel 1 before. Note Channel 1 is all switches set down or a binary 0. Then I finally got the blue light and it worked. So this video cut my frustration level and blood pressure down to normal. Further in the video and as I tested it, the YN603N had to be attached to the camera, I haven't tried it yet but I think you might be able to take the remote trigger off the camera by using the trigger cord that plugs into the camera. If this is possible then you might be able to use the camera flash along with a tripod flash giving a more flexible lighting system. I will give this a try. Update: 6/20/15 I tried using the remote off the camera and it doesn't work. It's still a great product. I used it awhile back to photography birds at close range by triggering it remotely and got some great shots.
@nomislaw No, there's no dedicated "test" button to trigger off camera. That's an important feature that they didn't implement. The next best thing to do is connect the 603 to the camera hotshoe, wake up the camera to initiate connection to the 603 and then press the 603 button to send a "test" trigger to the remote 603s. Not ideal but it works.
Awesome video! Thanks a lot! I had no idea that you could use the rf603 as a shutter release! I wonder if it works in bulb mode as for super long exposures?
Hi! first of all thank you for review. But I've several questions, since you have them can you please test somthing and post it here 1 Did you try what is the maximum shutter speed at which it sync? 2 and as a triger does it support bulb mode? Thank You in advance
Hi. Great unboxing !! You've given answered to many questions that i've been searching for... There is still not much info about 603s around. Is there any way to trigger flash with TRX offshoe. I saw that it's not possible right away, but i hope there is some trick to do that. Good job :)
that's a flash setting specific to your camera. nothing to do with the receiver. you probably have it in a Green (auto) mode that detects low light to bring up the pop up fill flash.
thank you very much, I just got these, and the included instruction manual is no where near as clear as your instructions! You should write for Yongnuo!
How do you setup the rf-603 on your camera without poping the on-camera flash... Everytime i put one reciever to the flash and one reciever on the camera, the flash pop up? What are your setting on the camera and the flash
For some reason, they are not triggering my D810. I thought it was the cable at first, but I switched it with a cable that I know works, and still nothing. Any thoughts as to why ?
If I want to use these transceivers with Yongnuo 560 III Flash (it supports radio transmission), do I still need to use two RF 603's, or can I use only one, mounted on the camera's hot shoe and let the 560 III's hardware act as a receiver? Thanks for your answer.
I bought one but the shutter release cable adapter is not compatible with Canon T6 Rebel. any know which of Yongnuo RF603 flash and camera triggers works with T6 rebel?
I have just purchased the 603n II triggers, and came across your question, and thought I would check that out for you, and the answer is yes the 603nII can do that. The only thing is, I don't think that the shutter will stay down, because there is no way to put the button into a hold state, but as long as you have your finger on the button, the shutter will stay open.. Hope this helps
Basically your shutter is so fast and your flash is so slow that by the time the flash fires, the shutter is already closed. That's why it's half black.
I also have these triggers and I am having the same problem as Newfieguy2525. My flash units don't function consistently. When shoots a person or something where set up time is important, I have learned not to trust these units. Look at the YN 622 for Canon www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_6?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=yn+622c&sprefix=yn+622%2Caps%2C153 they have them for Nikon as well. In my opinion the 603's are a waste of money.
i have stumbled onto a problem. My sb700 will not make contact with the receiver. i have to squeeze the flash onto the slot to get it to fire. does anyone have the same problem?
I have these triggers, I have the Yongnuo Speedlite YN 560 II. and a canon t4i... but my triggers wont fire the flash.. I have them on the camera and on the flash but it wont fire the flash.. Anyone know what's going on?

@spaming4you You can hear the shutter click. The remote in his hand makes the camera shoot which in turns sets off the flash.
yes, it does..
works just like a shutter
Awesome video! Thanks a lot! I had no idea that you could use the rf603 as a shutter release! I wonder if it works in bulb mode as for super long exposures?
Great review... Can i purchase 4 of them and have 1 trigger 3 flashes? just curious?

спасибо, отличная распаковка. все подробно и доступно!!! можно сказать обзор!!!
It can be used to trigger other flashes, but also be used as a camera remote?

There is a Yongnuo RF603c model, but I can't connect, do I need a cable to connect?
thank you very much, I just got these, and the included instruction manual is no where near as clear as your instructions! You should write for Yongnuo!
Thank you for this video, it helped me so much!
Thank you for the video! I finally get done!

Does this work cross platform?
hi. I recently bought the Yongnuo RF603c 2. when I shoot shutter speed over 250 my photo comes out half black. why is this happening? TIA.
+Tria Vang I guess your sync speed is less than 1/250 .
Try shooting at 1/200
Basically your shutter is so fast and your flash is so slow that by the time the flash fires, the shutter is already closed. That's why it's half black.

Does it trigger TTLs.
No, the RF-603 won't do TTL. Youngnuo's YN-622 can do TTL :)
Thanks for the response.
Great share here on this is what I was looking for, you can get the trigger listed by photolt.com/YongnuoYN622CTTLFlash for anyone looking for it
i have stumbled onto a problem. My sb700 will not make contact with the receiver. i have to squeeze the flash onto the slot to get it to fire. does anyone have the same problem?
mine's sealed just like yours
I have these triggers, I have the Yongnuo Speedlite YN 560 II. and a canon t4i... but my triggers wont fire the flash.. I have them on the camera and on the flash but it wont fire the flash.. Anyone know what's going on?
Sure you have them set on the same channel and/or group? I had a similar issue early on.
so bad it has no threading for a light stand. I own no cold shoe mounts
