Vi was about 14 and Powder 9. And take in mind, it was done by hand animation NO MOCAP!
Yes you must watch The Call asap! Its super hype and super beautiful! A few frames of characters actually confused a few of my friends whether they were real people or cgi, so good!
Yes, you will get blown away but how good it is
There is also an valorant cinematic called warmup :)
you're in for a ride with "The Call". The production value they put into this cinematic trailer is SO HIGH..
Enforcer puts on a rebreather mask. "Why does he have that?"
The undercity of Zaun was originally a mining town that mined the fissures in the ground. It grew into an industrial town, very very polluted, much like London in the 1950s with it's pea-soup smog. That industry is what sustains the top-side of Piltover. The workers and craftsmen of the undercity are used to all the pollution, but whenever a top-sider descends into the undercity, they bring a mask to protect their lungs.
I love the fact that the rich people dont want to breath the same air as the poors people.
@@Orapac4142 I'm sure some of them feel that way (I'm looking at you, Caitlyn's mom) but a large part of it is that the air can be hard to breath if you're not used to it. There is a scene in a later episode where they sort of explain it but I'm trying to avoid spoilers. :)
"Used to it" is an exaggeration. As shown later on, the undercity's terrible conditions result in poor health and early deaths among the residents. But since those residents were born into these conditions, they've learned to live with it.
@@BaddGirl420 without major spoilers:
Some elites (gangsters) within Zaun (the undercities) get used to better air quality in elevated homes and using filters.
One of them accuses the others of losing touch with the poor and working people of Zaun by exposing those leaders to the toxic green air regular ppl breathes. they were not used to it and started choking without filters
@@iwatchwithnoads7480 Nice. Exactly what I was thinking but I couldn't think of how to word it.
You are going to be amazed by this series, they have crazy fights choreography, the camera angles are insane, the photography is beautiful, great OST, characters, story, dialogs, EVERYTHING lol.
10/10 series, I'm glad you are going to watch it
Can't wait for him to get to the dynasties and dystopia fight Scene
Couldn't agree more man, as someone who never really played LOL (just some TFT) i have to say this is probably the best tv show i've ever watched.
@@henkkamatikaine2808 this
This show has no weak episodes, but I cannot WAIT for you to see ep 3, 4, 7, and 9. There are some _phenomenal_ animation sequences.
In terms of animation, my fav would be the fight scene in 5 tho
You missed 6, probably one of the most picturesque moments in the series.
@@mattp1734 it's almost like different people have different favorite moments.
@@DreamFearless crazy, right?
@@mattp1734 bruh you guys just want this person to list literally every episode lol 😭 everyone has different favorites
13:58 trust me no one is tired of youtubers appreciating Fortiche studio's animations. everyone loves when someone notices the details and appreciates it.
🇫🇷🇫🇷😍
Arcane is easily the best western produced animated show since Avatar the last airbender.
Wakfu was better than ATLA, and a real Western animation, unlike Avatar who was animated in South Korea.
@@Thunderworks A production involves a lot more than just the animation. The majority of the work comes before that.
Would you say "Rush hour" is not an American movie because it involves a lot of Chinese actors? Or the sequel because it mostly takes place in Hong Kong?
I'd like to add The Legend of Vox Machina as an honorable mention to this comment
Avatar is super overrated imo.
I would say infinity Train is the best western animations in a while
now I know what the sandwich scene was made for :D it´s a distraction for people who say "aah she´s gonna find something important - oh no wait it´s just a sandwich" xD then she actually finds the chest with the important stuff in it and you can go "Hah, I still knew it!" :D
Its also foreshadowing that someone will soon come back to the apartment
also it shows the difference between topside and zaun, when living in zaun you can only dream of having a sandwich like that while in piltover someone made it and forgot to eat it
@@HybridHumaan This is what I thought too. No one just leaves their sandwich on a table
Also shows the differences between Piltover and The Undercity, she’s so delighted to see a sandwich amongst the gold! Awesome scene with so much detail
@Zach Hogan if you think about it, hextech could have never existed if they didn't find the crystals and viktor helped jayce
This show held a consistent 10/10 level from first frame to last. Best part is at the high points it would be disrespectful to call it only a 10/10.
This series is the only show that I have ever considered a perfect master piece. So glad your watching it
I have yet to find a flaw I can't justify in Act 1.
@@cpilling51 ive found some but their so minor it's just Nitpicking to Nitpick
@@Frozenbozo out of curiosity. What did u find?
@@purple66666 honestly its been so long since ive thought about it I don't really remember the specifics they were so minor but it was like certain details of the story in a few scenes where if you really thought about it just doesnt make sense. Like id say this show a lot of the characters are just immune to explosions Ekko cait singed all next to insane explosions but survive with minor injuries with singed being the worst out of them. IK their champions so they cant kill them but when Marcus dies but cait survives with a lil shrapnel in her leg. its all minor stuff that only really takes you out of it if you really think about it but arcane is still a 10/10 one of a kind masterpiece.
Honestly my main issue with Arcane is it's density. So much happens in so little time I feel there is little room to breathe. Maybe it's because I binged all nine episodes, but I do think that each arc could have used one more episode, not as filler, but just to give us more moments to slow down and breathe. The show can be exhausting. Other than that, it's a near perfect masterpiece, probably one of the greatest animations I've ever seen.
The opening showcases both the tone of the show as well as just how astounding the animation is going to be. Most animated media would cut to the person crying very quickly, but this one took its time and showed Vi trying to keep that strong face for her sister's sake before she collapsed in grief.
Meanwhile, in anime: MC literally crying two rivers of tears while repeatedly yelling someone's name :D
Happy to see you tackling this, if you feel like it, I do think it might be fun to go back to the show when you're done reaction to it and possibly take scenes that you want to discuss in more details than you can in a regular reaction video
Haha he might have to make a second account for that. He'll be here for months XD
You mean he should dissect basically every scene lol.
In particular I would love to see his take on a few of the scenes in episode 3. If you've watched, you know the ones. I have never seen so much emotion conveyed through an animated medium and the VA work is incredible too.
Let's goooooo, can't wait for your reactions on further episodes, especially when the action starts going through the roof 🔥
17:51 the people who wrote the show were working with these characters for a long time even before the show started production (and it took 5 years to make!). So yeah, the writers absolutely know what to do with these characters
Chris: "I'll probably skip a few bits but uuum let's see what you got"
Arcane: *CHALLENGE ACCEPTED*
I LOVED YOUR REACTION, not only the fact that you know about the Universe behind it, the Characters and references [like at 13:39] but you have a whole complete perspective about the show, you are so profesional, new sub.
Yes... I'm watching this initial reaction to episode 1 (again) AFTER watching your review (again) of the ending with episode 9, (which actually occurs 8 months later). From start to finish your reviews were spot on... and again... seeing your reactions throughout and comparing this first one to your last one... is facinating.
More importantly... your final reaction to episode 9... as with all of the rest of us... left us all 'stunned', 'gob-smacked', 'ultimate OMG moment', with the realization the journey is over for now ... and with an equal anticipation of what are they going to do next... because I for one, don't know how they could possibly raise the bar - with each episode they kept raising it - and then with episode 9 they just set it beyond anything I've seen before or since.
All the VERY BEST!
Believe it or not, the series only gets better in every aspect.
I had the same realization when watching the first episode: they made sure with every scene to know where the "camera" would be if it was a live action film, and animated it with those restrictions in mind. Just one aspect of what makes this animation so amazing.
Yes! An absolute masterpiece. Thanks for watching
I'm happy with you watching the reaction first and then doing an in depth analysis at the end of the series when you're able to go back to earlier episodes and notice the tiny details and continuity.
Please keep watching especially till episode 3.
That's when you're hooked and unable to stop binging the rest :)
Arcane is so well made that it still gives me goosebumps as just a screen in a corner of a reaction video. Even tho I just watched all the episodes recently, some of them twice. So far everyone I asked to watch this was impressed so much they now can't wait for a second season.
I still can’t believe that The actor for Mylo, Yuri Lowenthal, is the same actor for the PS4 Spider-Man.
I love the mix of animation and almost handdrawn sketchy feel the art has in Arcane.
This is the best series so far in my opinion. Everything is done to near perfection.
Fully agreed, twice over.
The immersiveness of the filming really is the thing, just like when Avatar came out, that just makes people rave about it. Then add on all the other glowing things about, I’ve been waiting for a show like this for 5+ years. I could care less about LoL but this is my favorite show right now
your lack of words is 100% understandable as I think we were all feeling like that. I have heard but can't confirm that one of the reasons it looks so good is that all the backgrounds and the more major set pieces are actually painted. And then you have the animation being done over the top of these paintings.
Story-wise this show actually stands on its own 100% aside from the game. Even if you don't know what league is this show is something I would recommend to someone to watch.
Aaah I was waiting for you to cover this series. It had to be done! And although I tend to favour your reactions over the cinematic/animatic explanations I really feel like you could delve into it more with this series. How they did things, what the effect is, or why you'd do this or that. Perhaps even clues and thoughts about things you saw in the series that you hadn't thought about and want to try your self.
Really curious about you unpacking all that as this show, imo, is going to end up being used a lot in classrooms in future animation courses one way or another.
"Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?"
Silco's monolog in front of Wander's statue
FINALLY!! I really was waiting you to react ARCANE!!!
I mean its obvious how amazing this series is artistically. But i also love that the more you watch the more complicated your thoughts on who’s the “villain” and who’s the innocent. Its very realistic. Makes it seem like they are all complex characters instead of the usual main characters.
This series is a masterclass in storytelling!
AHHHHHH yes Im so happy that you're reacting to this too! Several of my favorite channels have and I honestly couldnt get enough. You're in for a real treat, my dude. Bring along tissues.
This series, as you've already pointed out, is absolutely STUNNING in every way. From world-building, character development, VISUALS, etc, Arcane truly has it all. So excited to see you react to the rest of the series. Shit gets wild. It won't let you down.
We want you to react all episodes!!😁😁 it'll be very cool to see your reaction
I was reminded of a comparison between the "Ghost in the Shell" anime and that live action movie. The different cinematography was pointed out. In the original during the quiet city scene, the camera was always at points where somebody could actually be and observe. In the remake we had a fast floating CGI-camera that moved where not even drones or helicopters could get to.
For the most part, Arcane is doing the same thing as the old GitS anime.
You are going to love this show. I'm going to love watching you experience it. Arcane is a masterclass in storytelling. Enjoy the ride!
It's a great series,i'm pretty sure you gonna enjoy it)
Btw I can't help mentioning that your video quality is marvelous!
You should definitely keep watching Arcane and showing us your reactions! I just finished the final episode tonight, best Netflix show I’ve ever watched! 10/10
This is sick!, looking forward to your reaction to the rest of the episodes, it gets so good.
“The call” is one of the most detailed and most realistic game cinematic I’ve ever seen, really look forward to your reaction. 👍
I’m so happy to see you react to this series. It is amazing and I loved it (11/10). The music is also really great and I think it doesn’t get copyrighted but I’m not 100% sure about it..
Looking forward to the rest of the series. Love your videos and happy reacting ^^
The animation body movements and facial expressions are just so good in this series.
I adored this show, and I fully agree that the cinematography was amazing! It felt more like we were truly watching actors on screen than just animation, it was incredible!
Finally I wait for this so long, I love your Reactions, and you will love these series, it's a Masterpeace of Animation, and just wait for EP3, 6 and 9, It's just 💥
im glad you are giving this a shot, hope you enjoy as much as i did, i would also encourage you to check the last cinematic named "The Call" which i thing is insanely well done!, keep it up.
Dragon prince tried to ground the floatyness of 3d animation with jitter making the characters move a little jangly. Arcane however added weight with little camera shakes. Something you don't notice too much unless your looking for it but adds the weight of motion you would see as your own body moves or as a camera moves when filming.
I love this, keep watching, you'll love the show!
I love your reactions. Please, do the whole show.
I'm about to rewatch Arcane, and when I first watched it, I loved how they basically did painted animation. It shows way more depth of colours and characters and environment all around. It's also hard to replicate natural facial expressions, and they did really amazing with this series.
The pacing in this series is so phenomenal, I can't wait to see your reactions to the rest - keep it up
hi chris! Loving this new series already! I know you've probably heard it a ton but the new Valorant cinematic is waiting for you! Anyways, love your content man, keep it up!
The thing that's amazing about the series is the story building for all characters, you can relate to the characters, good and evil.
i was always aware and complimenting the way it really does feel like its "filmed in the universe", but only now did i notice just how much they do it. and it's awesome i love it. during the intro scene when the "camera" shows the destruction on the bridge and then slowly pans around to show vi and powder, that was amazing, i can literally see in my mind a camera man filming that bc of the way it was framed.
You are probably the last but not least reactor i was waiting to watch this series, i'm really happy to see you on arcane and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed, especially episode 3 when the big buildup takes place :)
HE IS BACK!!!!!!!!!
None of us get tired of how impeccable this show is.
I have been so emotional watching you watching this masterpiece. It's almost as intense to see someone watching this for the first time as watching it the first time because the viewer emotion brings back to first watch. I love you work, and this episode is even more interesting to me as you don't need to be a movie expert to enjoy Arcane, but having you immediatly noticed that the way it's made is like someone is actually filming it in the first minutes says a lot about your expertise. It's actually something Fortiche wanted and are mastering. Maybe time to watch Arcane for the sixth or seventh time.
It's definitely a benchmark. I'd even go as far as calling it a masterpiece. Everything is so well crafted: the characters, the story, the music, the animation. It's excellent on all fronts.
Yesss, I love this series and I can't wait to see your reactions because I think it is so beautifully executed.
YOoooo I've been so excited for this! Thanks for finally getting around to it Chris, it is really good so far.
If I remember correctly the animation studio actually used both 2d and 3d to make it look the way it is. The characters are 2d cards in a 3d scene and vice versa . I like the technical aspects of it
Yup, 2D+3D with manually painted textures
characters are painted 3d models over 2d background
Yessss! Finally! This will be amazing!
I was so worried the show's quality would drop off, but it only matures like wine. It grows INTO itself. Never seen anything like this before.
About time mate!!! You'll love it
I've watched some channels (animation students and therapists) reacting to Arcane. So much information we miss on a first watch, we gotta watch it 3-4 times.
Finally...I've been waiting for you to react to this tho...hahahahhaa btw nc reaction video bruh
I love the little details like the guard falls over when a large chunk of roof hits the ground meaning it shakes him over.
thanks for the review, I can't wait to watch the the episode 2 review. keep up the good stuff 💙.
Holy s.! I am glad you did this reaction!👍🏻
IM SO HYPED TO SEE YOUR REACTION please upload this show as much as you can
Simply the BEST animated feature I've EVER seen in my 47 years....Pure PERFECTION!
you will get a lot of grey within this series. thats a big reason why i love this show
he's talking about villain can be amazing. Oh boy can't wait to see his reaction after the whole series
It’s like watching a moving painting. ❤️
Fun review, I look forward to watching the rest of your videos on Arcane!
YAYYY IM SO HAPPY YOUR DOING THIS!!!!
I’ve been waiting a long time for this. Thank you
lessgoooo cant wait for it all ! also you should really check out the Call youre gonna be fucking flabberghasted
Man you are in for one hell of ride. Enjoy … it just keeps getting better
I love what you said about villains. Silco, the guy with a yellow eye, is probably one of the best written villain EVER! Can’t wait for you to see the rest!
I'm so happy you're doing a full reaction series! It will definitely pick up, Arcane is divided in three Arcs. I have a feeling you're going to exponentially enjoy everything and we can thank an amazing story and script for that. I wouldn't mind watching the entire episode of you reacting but if you feelmaking cuts is the way to go I respect it.
PS: Loved your insight at the end, totally agree! It's already being used as an example of not only a videogame adaptation done right but also generally speaking of animated series.
You're for a treat! This show has some of the best cinematography Ive seen in a while!
I can't wait for the other episodes!!!!!💕💕💕💕
You gonna love this masterpiece
I cry on this series, it's really emotional and sad sometimes, and the best that i've seen for a long time, for me "arcane" is pure perfection :)
I love it that you react to Arcane! That's amazing!
Chris Pleese Make Some More Tutorilas About VFX , They Were Super interesting And Fun To Watch.
I think the most common word that comes up with this series and everything about it, is that it's actually a Masterpiece of work. It's brought people who don't even like the game to love the world it takes place in and that's honestly incredible. This show has brought so many people together with just how fantastic its overall self
So excited to see your reaction to this series. It's amazing, just as you said. And don't worry, we all went through that journey of constantly saying how amazing each aspect of the show is from animation to sound to cinematography.
Thumbs up for almost immediately associating this with Dishonored game. Was my thought too, they definitely got inspired by it to at least some extent.
The first scene is a war between upper city and downtown. The downtown guy (Vander and child parents) fight for independence
The age of those five kids that I think their age is:
Vi's age (14 or 15)
Mylo's age (14)
Claggor's age (14)
Jinx/Powder's age (9)
Ekko's age (9)
Vi is 16-17, Mylo and Claggor are probably the same if not just a hair younger as they seem to have little experience being younger than her as they really seem to have grown up at the same rate as her. Powder is according to Mia Sinclair 8 or 9 but the show runners implied that she is 11 or 12 which makes more sense with vi being 16-17. Ekko is the same age as powder more or less.
It makes perfect sense for this to be all their ages as it's implied that even 7-8 years later in episode 5 jinx can't beat Vis score even though vi was younger than jinx when she set the record. Jinx always tried to prove herself as better than her siblings and still couldn't beat especially vi at what Vi does best, hand to hand fighting.
Omg Connor, been waiting for this. Let's goooooo
I subscribed mostly for your take on the whole series, perhaps even episode by episode, because it really is that deserving, as well as your takes. Okay, plus your other stuff is pretty cool, but still, please more Arcane!
It's about time that you started reacting to this masterpiece :D
Happy to see his reaction.
This show may seem like it falls under the typical Bad Villian, City conflict, Family feuds and just overall good and bad hero saves the day scenario.
And yes, It does. But what Arcane managed to pull off is to evolve the chliché storytelling into something we haven't seen before. All the thoughts and expectations you get from the first episode will be shattered completely, in not one but many different ways. It's hard to explain without spoiling too much but when you've watched it all, you'll know exactly what i mean.
First time on your channel and subbed instantly, will eagerly follow your journey through this masterpiece of a series!
You're gonna love every fight scenes choreography!
I love your reactions and thank you for teaching a few things here and there about cinematography!
You WILL understand what Riot means when they imply that there are no good or bad guys, just people. Trust me, you will feel this in the end! No good or bad, it's just people do what they do! No spoilers, it's just something I've observed Riot doing like when you say a character is good or bad, they mess with your head, man! XD
I find it funny how at first glance everyone is lime "ah yes silco= bad guy" but actually it's a lot more complicated then that. To be fair there is no bad guy in this show.
