The leader cast in this game hits different from all the other games. Larry is the most relatable and WTF person ever in Pokémon, which is a masterpiece.
Yeah, I was not expecting a rap battle with grandma in a Pokemon game. And then we've got Larry, the most normal guy ever. They have some good variety with the gym leaders.

Also from what I dug up, Ryme's older sister used to be the city GL, but she took over after her sister became a teacher in the academy. Love these secrets behind such wonderfully designed characters.
I really appreciate that Tera types allowed them to make a lot more interesting gym battles that also say a lot about their trainers. Katy choosing a honey loving bear and Brassius choosing plant looking statue as their signature pokemon were nice touches.
The electric one with mismagius coz people get ghosted on the internet lol Kofu coz not all water is gentle, it can knock u out The Ghost one with toxtricity coz Ghosts send shocks up ur spine

Another Pokemon game where the Normal Type Gym Leader is leaving an impression on people. Despite their plain type they're always the one that left impressions on people. And Larry got a neat philosophy on the Normal Type. No wonder it's my favorite type. ^^
Well apart for the main reason we all love him (That being him just being Larry) I also liked the fact that he was a member of the elite 4. When the little kid said his name I was like "Huh" (Just like Larry) I was not expecting him to be there
I love Larry, we’ve never seen a type of gym leader like him and I love how popular he’s become. But I wish I’d see some of the other gym leaders get appreciated more like Katy, Tulip and Kofu
I love Grusha a bit more than I love Larry. They’re mostly the same, but at least the former still has some spark left in him and doesn’t look down on himself all the time.
Really enjoyed the Gym leaders... Larry and Ryme were absolute standouts for me... Larry is that overworked tone-death guy while Ryme is an aging Rapper from the 90s era. I didn't get why her gym is a double battle.... but then you remember she has a twin sister (who works at the academy).
If I'm honest all major Gym Leader and Elite 4 battles should be Double Battle. It's just the best way to fight in Pokémon and the fight can be finished quicker. Also Elite 4 members should specialize in two types to make their teams more diverse. Elite 4 Poppy could be Steel-Fairy for example, while Elite 4 Larry would be good with Normal AND Flying types.

I'll straight up tell you why because he's just the regular everyday guy like the rest of us in life which fits his normal Pokemon type perfectly. Basically what it is is you love the Larry because you yourself can relate to him on an everyday level
That actually makes sense as he uses grass type Pokemon which are known for their beauty and elegance so having someone who is handsome and flamboyant would fit grass type Pokemon perfectly
Larry, Iono, and Kofu are my favorites. All the gym leaders are honestly great in this gen, they are actually challenging and have great personalities.
Not a lot of people giving my boy Grusha some love. He shows that despite being somewhat apathetic due to his big accident, deep down that spark still remains, and our battles with him help rekindle that fire a little bit. Which goes to show that when you feel like nothing has meaning, sometimes it takes someone else to help you find meaning again.
Now, what Gym Leaders would accept her request if one actually happened: - Katy: probably yes; kind woman she is - Brassius: just mention art, avant-gardance and MC, and you're golden - Kofu: definitely - Larry: nah, he would think of it as the waste of time (unless Geeta orders him to) - Ryme: I'm a bit mixed, but the bigger half says yes (the question is would Iono invite her...) - Grusha: unlikely; with his attitude, chances of accepting are low - Tulip: cuteness and beauty; if she's free, then I think she could accept the invitation

Iono's postgame team is honestly my favorite out of everyone's. All she needed was Rain Dance and she could have easily been the strongest challenge in the game, assuming you play with bootleg Set rules and aren't overleveled.
It kinda sucks you can only have a rematch with them once hopefully the dlc we can have a rematch with them MORE OFTEN maybe this this time with a full 6 pokemon team plus all of their ace pokemon with tera blast and possibly be hard as the gym leaders from BDSP
God I love Brassius so much, his energy is just on a whole other level! I love Larry, Ryme, Grusha and Iono too. I love them all actually but Brassius will always be the best for me

Gym Leader rematches have been in almost every game starting from Pokemon Emerald. Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl for me are the most memorable since they super jacked up the difficulty of the Gym Leader rematches.
_Just_ noticed that Ryme's front ponytail looks like a skeletal hand! Should've known that that'd be the clear sign that she's a Ghost-type Gym Leader.
When Ryme opted to use Curse when Spiritomb was her last pokémon in a two versus 1 match and already on a low amount of health I felt like burying my face in the desk... they all make such daft decisions, she may be a rapper but as a ghost specialist she fails horrendously
Not gonna lie, Generation 8 gym battle background was better. I was hoping these gyms would at least have two full bleachers with some people standing up cheering.
Can we talk about how during the Brassius battle, they saved up all the PP for the super effective attack for Talonflame, but used the super effective move for a low HP Pokémon with Quaqavel?
This is very similar to Mario odyssey. You know where you go to the mushroom kingdom and go to those little towers and rematch on the Bosses very similar to that.
Anyone knows if Geeta´s questions affect something? Or you can answer whatever you want? I´m starting to think that they may affect something related to the eventual DLC but I don´t know if they already serve a purpose.

Platinum and I think BDSP are the exception, in all the other games the Gym Leaders rematches were always to a maximum of five Pokémon.

Gym Leader rematches have been in almost every game starting from Pokemon Emerald.
Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl for me are the most memorable since they super jacked up the difficulty of the Gym Leader rematches.
Sadly you can only rematch these gym leaders once 🥲

When Ryme opted to use Curse when Spiritomb was her last pokémon in a two versus 1 match and already on a low amount of health I felt like burying my face in the desk...

This is very similar to Mario odyssey. You know where you go to the mushroom kingdom and go to those little towers and rematch on the Bosses very similar to that.
