@@groudonor12 gen 7 wasn’t the gen where they stated their focusing on “high quality animations”. Those problems began in Gen 8. Gen 7 was the last gen to include all available Pokémon for its time.
People often talk about the character animations being lackluster and they've adjusted gradually, but personally, the move animations feel more bland than the characters. even if 10% of the moves look "good" still feels lackluster.
I mean when they put the focus more to likely `cut down on animations` by just re-using generic ones, while getting rid of as many of them with unique motions, attack effects & creative camera work, it just further stacks on already lousy elements. Which im getting sick and tired of playing the roller coaster game of them adding stuff, taking away stuff, adding new stuff, taking away stuff again. When was the last time they `truly` added permanent pieces of content that had the same presence as Held items, Pokemon abilities and what not? Not just simply expansions to those things like new abilities/items but literal game-changing elements that were constant in multiple entries? Cause they certainly broke it with Clothing customization since you could have alot of personality in Sword/Shield, while despite all the `accessories` with Scarlet/Violet, the player character still ends up looking like a NPC in a pile of watered down NPCs, even when the NPCs get more `drip` they stack on top of the school uniforms, like the blue berry Academy having one elite four with a Lab-coat on top of a school uniform and Kieran wearing his school uniform more like a delinquient and actually wearing a sports wear that just makes me wish we could of got those Soccer outfits in Sword/Shield again, cause the number of designs & color mix ups really `sold them` despite them being effectively the same outfit for the most part. Even hits harder when the gym leaders in sword/shield wear those competition outfits in a load of different ways on top of that.
I was specifically looking at Shadow Force on Giratina - In Scarlet/Violet, Giratina just reappears and then the animation of the attack plays, but in Legends Arceus the whole animation feels a lot more slick with the claws/wings ripping open the portal before Giratina reappears
Imo, they focused waaaaay too much on snappiness over everything else. It's even more aggravating when some multihit attacks take 30 seconds, while most attacks can't have animations longer than two seconds. I'd rather see more cinematic attacks for signature moves over how most of them were handled in Gen 9
Yup, thar be a reason why they are called Signature moves, actually really embodying them specifically and not just simply be a recolor of a generic more or a move exclusive to only one specific pokemon and then handed out to a bunch of others, Even worst when these new users can use said move so much better due to a much higher stat distribution and what not. Might of been fine if they kept the original animations, but instead of cutting the bloat of the map size or a ridiculously large number of JPEGs and `food effects` or the `animation mini game` to make a sanvich, which really could of just been pick 3 ingredients, and `craft` a sanvich that you can eat at any time so you can just make a bunch of specific ones and dont have to constantly `make` new ones right when you wanna start a farm. Reshiram is looking so damn fluffy, i want to pet it and never let go. The new models are looking really cool, i also like Zekrom's scaly look, Kyurem is already badass, now it's even more badass, the fusions constant have activated their tails, but it's fine. I kinda wish the Fusion moves look better. The light trio's new models are great too, i like Solgaleo's and Lunala's almost metallic look, but Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam are disappointing :( Necrozma and its fusions are looking good.

How did Diamond Storm and all of the Tao Trio’s moves get WORSE from the 3DS era Also, don’t get me started on how the Hoenn legends’ signature moves were built around a mechanic that doesn’t exist. Mega Rayquaza specifically had a very unique animation when using Dragon Ascent and it’s just gone and probably never coming back
As well as Lunala and Solgaleo not having their thrid eye, the fact that they made Regidrago's Dragon Energy move have the EXACT SAME animation as Kyogre's Origin Pulse but with a different colour was really disappointing. for the people saying they watered down the animations because the overworld battle system, you are wrong... they can still do better. games like genshin impact has characters that have background graphics in their ults like itto, alhaitham, and navia. when viewed by another player, they loose some impact but still look good. this proves that it is possible to combine to different camera angles and still have better special graphics and move animations... gf is being lazy

Metronome is a move that will randomly use any move that is coded into the game. The move Mew picked was the signature move of the gen 9 pseudo legendary.
Real shame previous gens don't interact with their moves. Either should have more people or more time. The again Resident Evil 6 had like 600 people and I still hear fans complaining about it.
And yet they let Calyrex-Shadow, the mon only held back by lack of coverage, into a game where anything can have any coverage move. And they gave it Draining Kiss just in case that wasn’t enough.

Dang, Reshiram and Zekrom's signatures don't really feel that powerful. Honestly I wish a lot of these moves felt like they had a strong impact.

Real shame previous gens don't interact with their moves. Either should have more people or more time. The again Resident Evil 6 had like 600 people and I still hear fans complaining about it.
Some looks good, some looks a bit less appealing last game.
They did not want a repeat of Geomancy Xerneas and they certainly did not want Yveltal to fire nukes in the form of Tera Dark + Dark Aura Knock Offs
And yet they let Calyrex-Shadow, the mon only held back by lack of coverage, into a game where anything can have any coverage move. And they gave it Draining Kiss just in case that wasn’t enough.
