That "sludge" is metal debris coming from the converter's clutch. It's normal... To a point. With that much, I'd expect the converter to be on its way out.
For y'all people wandering, I had same codes on a maxima 2014 3.5 and I changed the whole valve body, it didn't work. Conclusion, don't wait to change the transmission fluid until it's too late! The fluid was dark af, with metal shavings
Wat tool did u use to take off the transmission case I got the same car n it’s doing the same thing especially wen it gets warm but it stops wen I turn the car off n turn it bacc on
great great video - I dropped pan today and oil and pan look fine - was told same thing (mechanics wont touch it - they said it needs new CVT) - but I disagree. Car will not accelerate for 5 10 seconds from stop after warmed up! Cold runs./shifts fine. Finally threw codes after driving hard - p1778 and p0476 (solenoid?) . Couple questions if you can HELP - you mentioned there might be speed sensor too or other? What else is easy to change while in there? steppe and ? - Also what was your symptoms - did you have bad acceleration? thanks!
Update on this one. I replaced the stepper motor and the cvt fluid and even the outer filter. The CVT I had had a cvt fluid and filter change every 15k miles. After 200 miles of the successful Stepper motor change. My car transmission started acting up again and eventually led me to limp mode. Had a preassure selinoid stuck off code and the torque converter fail code and so I traded the car in for a mazda. Car only had 112k miles on it. Dealership replaced the transmission. They wanted too much for me to afford so we made a deal and got me into a more reliable car.
If you have the p1777 code that may fix it. But check all the wiring when you do so. I couldn't fix mine, mine was p17778 . Didn't work when I did the stepper motor. I didn't get it because my fluid wasn't burnt or anything. I was able to drive for 200 miles after the replacement but it led to more problems and I ended up trading the car in
@Sindel M I ordered another stepper motor. So gunna take the pan off and disconnect it and replace it. Then put back the ns-2 nissian fluid then do the painful steps to reset the check engine light. You have to have car in the on position, not running but after 3 seconds then press gas all way down 5 times under 5 seconds then wait 7 seconds then hold down the gas petal all the way down for 10 seconds or until the check engine light flashes then you do another 2 steps a pain but it works. You made the smartest choices by trading the car in for a better one that I wish I could do. Well see if my plan works 🤔

I got the problem
Same but my fluid look good. Did u get it figured out? Cause I’m just gonna do the Stepper motor and hope like hell I’m good lol
@@maniacslap1623 same here
I replace my stepper motor and now my car lets me change gears but they won't engage at all
Thank you so much for your video! I just did the same to mine with the confidence that you guys gave me. Thank you again
Did it work?
Why you change the stepper motor? I mean what is the problem,
Because I have a problem in transmission.

What is the part number? I've got a JX35 with the same code.
Where can you buy the CVT valve body?
I already seen that the filter spout is to long
Thank you
Did it work?
What do you use to take out the plug to drain it
3/8 Allen key or bit
Where do you guys get diagrams for all this
Alldata
What size do i need to take the bolts out?
10mm
Good job man
Did this fix the transmission? Have the same car same year almost the same code mine is p1777
Mine is the same. Will change the stepper motor this weekend and will see if it works. I have 2014 nissian maxima p1777 code 112k miles
@@kevinandrews2584did you fixed?

Did you figure it out I had the same car with the same code
I have the same code too
14 nissian maxima 3.5
@@kevinandrews2584 ended up getting a 2022 Camry TRD last year. Just traded that in and got a Chevy Silverado 5.3
