    I really love how ergonomic these shortcuts are. They're not just nice things to map, they're fast and easy to press with a single hand.

    This was really helpful. Thanks! I've definitely dug into the keyboard shortcuts quite a bit, but your take on some of this definitely got me to think about my workflow and how I could make things easier on myself.

    Thanks for the video! Not trying to be a 'duck' here, but there is one more extremely useful key command on both Mac and PC, it is the [Esc] key. You know, for closing floating windows and other stuff :) Instead of the "x" in the upper right or "Cancel" button. The [Enter] key is quite useful too sometimes.

    So going through the shortcuts, I can't find what commands will toggle the "Device Chain" , what you do at 8:41 with Alt+D. Nothing I'm mapping seems to toggle that section

    Great! I got a number pad to create shortcuts, i don’t really understand why you would hide a lot of track in a project yet…

  • @Artek604
    @Artek604 4 роки тому +1

    Great, as always! The biggest problem I have with shortcuts is to come up with logical & consistent system, so I end up changing them all the time. I guess for people like myself it's "easier" to just have the DAW developer to decide for me, like in Live or Reason :D

    •  4 роки тому +2

      Totally! I guess it's a process of time to finding what works well for you. Some of them I change only because it was what I was used to with other software - others I think I'm being all smart by making them similar and then have to keep opening up the shortcuts section to see what I changed them too haha!

    I'm finding I run into little workflow obstacles a lot, like how you can't select a group of regions with the time tool, you have to switch to the pointer if you want to c+p paste a few without selecting each one; that alt + clicking solo button doesn't select a single track solo, even if others are solo'd already; and, the most frequent, you can't hold Cmnd+D and have your selection duplicate to infinity. Would love to find a way to change these.

    • @jacksavidge
      @jacksavidge 4 роки тому +1

      it is still only day 6 and otherwise I'm very happy

    • @jacksavidge
      @jacksavidge 4 роки тому +1

      oh i can actually use the time tool to select regions

    • @jacksavidge
      @jacksavidge 4 роки тому +1

      also Remove Time and Duplicate Time commands work only on the tracks that are lassoo'd, I like to be able to cut and duplicate global time by selecting a portion of any track

    • @jacksavidge
      @jacksavidge 4 роки тому +1

      ah here we go 'First switch to the selection tool.
      Then select a duration on the beat ruler to modify every tracks, or in the arranger timeline to work on specific tracks.
      Finally go to the menu "edit -> insert silence" or "remove time" for what you need'

    •  4 роки тому

      Yeah I know what you mean. There are certain teeny weeny little things that can cause irritation such as those you've mentioned above. The insert time and duplicate time is a bit annoying because I usually only want to make space for EVERYTHING not just on a single track. I don't like that when you insert time, the Cue Markers don't move with it. That's a bit stupid in my opinion.

    Anyone know if it's possible to rebind horizontal scroll modifier? I'm so used to holding Shift + scroll wheel to pan through arrangement window in Ableton, but having to use Alt instead of shift is driving me up the wall.

  • @PeterBullard
    @PeterBullard 4 роки тому +1

    Hey Taches - great videos, but I am wondering how did you create your own mappings (Alex Mappings)?

    •  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Pete! Thanks for the question :)
      When you enter the Bitwig preferences > Settings > Shortcuts, you'll see all of the possible mappable/mapped commands. You can press the X next to any of the commands you wish to remove or the + if you'd like to add any. Once you've made changes you have the option to save you custom mappings :)

    How is Double Content different from Duplicate?

    •  4 роки тому +1

      Double content makes duplicates the contents of a clip whereas duplicating a clip will just make a second copy. If you're in the Clip Launcher and you CMD+D (duplicate) another identical clip will be created below. If you SHIFT+D (my double content shortcut) the clip will become double as long with the pattern itself duplicated inside it. Hope this helps!

    •  4 роки тому +1

      Hahaha! I read the manual too and while it’s great it’s certainly lacking a bunch of nifty little features. Kind of makes the joy of discovering them yourself so much better though ❤️

      @ to people who after cubase or ableton the most important have in this video, show-hide-Panel-zoom-edit-scale-slice.
      another aspect is to study littlebit the location of the saved files-preset , conteiner, file extensions, not many but a littlebit different world in this regard. While I miss plugin-maneger and mediabay from cubase))well it is for now

    Hi Alex, are you using a Mac? I ask because when I try to assign to "the key below the escape key" ie. this fella: §, Bitwig is not accepting it.

    •  4 роки тому +2

      Unfortunately I don't think this is possible. I've tried to do that for my girlfriend but ended up having to have both laptops side by side and copy them all in manually. It certainly seems like a pretty easy thing to allow though so I might have to reach out to Bitwig to suggest it :)
