We’re back with another Cog Score video, where Richard Hammond interviews a special guest whilst their car is put under scrutiny by Mike Fernie and Anthony Greenhouse from Richard Hammond's Workshop.
This episode features the one and only AutoAlex (Alex Kersten) and his world-famous Mazda MX-5, Phil! While Alex Kersten is chatting with Richard Hammond upstairs, Mike and Anthony get the Miata MX5 up on the ramp to see how the car is holding up! Didn't know this about Alex's background and honestly it isn't that surprising. You can tell he's time served over the other big tubers.
He can really tell a story. So glad to see his channel do well off his own feet.
Though he's not quite the professional that is Richard Hammond. He could really make a series out of himself and his daughter doing roadtrip car reviews.
Also, Imagine being so famous and still being down to earth. What a treasure of a human.
Have new admiration for Alex, his respect for Richard was apparent and he really looked nervous at the start. Well done.
This is a really, really great format. Technical focus on the car. Personality focus on the guest. Perfect ! I think Alex was the only one surprised with how quickly his audience followed him to his own channel. He's very relatable, and personable, and for us viewers, that's gold. I really liked this episode. Well done all ! DriveTribe goes from strength to strength ! ( And that recent Jag race off episode with Alex was also excellent. When Daddy Harry turned up in the Project 8 ... brilliant idea, and directing.). All the best !

I could have listened to the Richard/ Alex interview conversation for the whole 46 minutes.
I genuinely believe that AutoAlex as a channel has worked because Alex (Taylor and Rory) have stuck to the plan, relatable content with could humor that anyone can relate to.
The fun they have and the cars they choose never stop entertaining me and they’re all things that the average person can aspire to do…
they have also inspired me (and my friends) to do the NC500 in £500 cars next year..
Between drivetribe and autoalex the spirit of top gear continues with plenty of entertainment, storytelling and motoring journalism!
Long may it continue!
The best AutoAlex interview on youtube. Much better than the previous one he did where the interviewer wouldnt really let him talk and kept interrupting/cutting him off to talk about other stuff. Alex was getting ready to pour his heart out about his departure from Carthrottle but the interviewer was much more interested in merch sales.

This format is such a great concept for videos. This one was fantastic! Richard and Alex felt like old mates chatting over fond memories and Phil is quite the charmer. Loved this.

Alex has one of the best & most professional reviews of the Audi S1 (IMHO) by any motoring journalist. I’m glad that Richard has featured him & a car he loves but doesn’t take too seriously to show the genuine character & knowledge & enthusiasm this guy exudes. His trajectory is only going up.
Never knew Alex's background until now - tip my hat to him as he's took time and effort to learn his trade and glad to see him smashing it now. Well done DT for allowing the time to do this and widen the viewers knowledge.

Not many people know that (well in the states anyway) when the Miata first came out, you could only get Red, White & Blue and the Red ones were the only ones that you could get a hard top for! IDK why that was🤷🏿♂️ but I worked from Rod Millen Motorsports at the time and we were a factory sponsored Mazada Rally team but we also did aftermarket parts as well and there is another long story about the Miata’s after that
I am discovering why I loved Richard on his previous shows. Now we get one that focused on him and his current crew. He was my fav reviewer back in the day on the BBC, so now, I am so happy he continued to love what he does and shares that passion with us. I just discovered DriveTribe today. I am amazed I didn't hear about it earlier. Going to be here for a Loooong time. Well done Boys!

Auto Alex and the channel's presenters are my favourite things on UA-cam! I love the way they use old cars instead of just showcasing ridiculous, impractical super expensive cars. I'm really pleased Alex is getting the success he deserves!

I must be one of the very few who skipped through Hammonds interview and just watched Mike's and Anthony's evaluation of the MX5 shed.
Would love to see Mighty Car Mods on here those guys are as grassroots as you can get and super relatable. They made 300 tips just for common joes to modify/repair their cars!

You poms have such a large range of cars to own and play with. The MX5 is a 38 for sure. You should see the v8 conversions done here in Aus

Mad Mike's mx5 is probably the most expensive. The engine build alone is 100k plus
There are Gen 1 sub 100 mile museum pieces valued above 150k. I think Mazda has a gen 0 prototype that’s valued above a million. And then of course, there is Mad Mike’s. But it’s not really fair since that’s just dumping money into it, where as the others have intrinsically high values by being originals in extremely mint condition.
@@hoverbike the worlds gone mad. You could probably build a better sports car yourself from scratch for a million. They’re fine cars for a couple grand, you’re a mug if you pay more than that for a standard one.

That's truly iconic
The current vent location is one of the lowest pressure zones on the hood of the mx5 which makes them functional for hot air escaping, bringing air through the radiator, & keeping the nose planted at speed!
