too early because kendrick only has 3 albums? guys..... biggie only had 2
Ikr
But those 2 albums are still relevant to this day
I think the reason is because it's too early to tell.
Biggie had decades for his influence to build, while Kendrick only had a couple of years.
We'll see if people talks about Kendrick in 15-20 years in the same way we talk about Biggie.
Comemeism Biggie had a double disc, has 5-6 of the best songs ever regardless of genre.
How tf was DOOM not even in the conversation
DOOM is the GOAT

Note: 5:58am was left out the list because I feel that all time lists should be about bodies of work as opposed to what they're doing in this current era.
Lmao wtf bro 😂😂
+dohertyz No 4:20? Most quotable time of all time.
+Sir Jamesman! That's a good point!
You deserve more likes, you're that nigga.
Sir Jamesman!
What has 4:20 dropped since "the 4:20 EP"??
Wait. Biggie had 2 albums. He's number 1. Kendrick has 2/3 albums but apparently his body of work isn't big enough? Not saying he should be but use different criteria to exclude him. Not the size of his body of work.
+Ratta Touillie Finally someone who feels the same as me lol. Not mention section80 and his two ep's...
remember influence plays a big role when it comes to MCs ......biggie had a way bigger influence as an mc in hip-hop then kendrick lamar, if yall want to be technical and talk about lyrics then how can we ignore the 100s of battle rappers who can out rap kendrick Lamar anyday see there's a reason why Michael Jordan was the best player in the world at basketball because he literally went threw all the stages to become the greatest ....we can't judge a MC based off his lyrics alone because if that was the case a lot of rappers would not be up there.... what about method man busta rhymes pac ?
Kendrick has 9 official projects dating back to 2003 (TPAB, GKMC, Section 80, O.D, the EP, C4, Til NYC collab, Training Day and YHNIC). If we're just comparing their discographies (none of their other attributes), then you guys would have an argument that DEHH isn't being fair to Kendrick. It also depends, of course, on how many of Kendrick's projects you'd even dare put up against Biggie';s.
The reason Biggie is #1 on Billboard's list (and I'm assuming would be in the Top-3 or so of DEHH's cumulative list) is in spite of his small discography; he's widely considered arguably the best lyricist of his time, he had commercial success and had a major effect on the genre despite his short time in it.
Richard Price fair enough but don't discredit him because "his body of work isn't big enough" then. Use other criteria like you did
I think people are reluctant to put a modern day rapper as the best of all time. Yeah Biggie only made 2 albums but he overshone many legendary artists during hip hop's golden age. In the next 10-15 years Kendrick Lamar will be in the conversation for the greatest of all time. If your favourite rapper make the list don't worry just enjoy the music, your opinion is never wrong.
You can definitely make an argument for Kendrick. It's like Anthony Fantano of theneedledrop said- "Kendrick has the best batting average in hip-hop." His career may be young, but the things he has put out have all been masterpieces. A lot of "legendary" rappers may only have 1 or 2 classic albums, and you can argue Kendrick's first 2 were both classics already.
Think about Biggie, who is always talked about as a GOAT even tho he only had 2 records.
Kanye's first few albums were classics too, js
I think Biggie and Pac are considered as GOATs because they were killed at young ages. Consequently, that put them on a pedestal, which they may or may not have deserved. Same shit happened with Cobain, I think
Maybe also because their legacies are some of the most influential in history. The era they were in, they had more effect on the U.S. than Kendrick did, all before the era of the internet. They're also listened to, quoted and referenced even today. If Kendrick, Tupac and Biggie were all meteorites, Tupac or Biggie would've been big enough to wipe out the dinosaurs, whereas Kendrick might kill half the population.
King Nyrd no they are considered to be the greatest in their realms because they were pioneers
Erik Campos Difference is Kendrick has been consistent throughout... OD, Section 80 great Albums (I know OD was a mixtape) GKMC and TPAB... part of modern raps greatest albums and his new album Untitled Unmastered... the fact that there throwaway tracks and there still good... The more consistency Kendrick puts out in a few years he will no doubt be in the Top 5's he's already my Number #1 rapper (FOR THIS GENERATION) at least
I don't care what u say Kendrick has already cemented himself as a top 10 rapper ever
Exactly, Section 80, GKMC, and TPAB under his belt are huge. 3 amazing albums.
Kendrick probably not top 10. Big Pun, Eminem, JayZ, Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Immortal Technique, Andre300, Big L, Rakim are all better.
TooMuchEdge Big L is amazing, one of my favourites. Also, one of the greatest punchline/freestylers I've ever heard. But sorry, Kendrick tops him and its mainly because of BigL's unfortunate death at such a young age.
HELL NO
*****
Kendrick can't touch Big L. Big L has the greatest punchlines of all time. He's so witty that Kendrick can't touch him.
No Cal Chuchesta?
Exactly thats what Im saying
Cuz they can't handle bars
not even mc ride, absolutely disgusting
+Based Jeb Kush What kind of world is this?
lol
If Kendrick's body of work is too small why is Biggie still on the list?
Exactly what I was thinking.
Kendrick hasn't touched Biggie in Importance or Talent yet.
He could, he hasnt, he hasn't touched Pac neither.
This is from a young nigga to only 20 fam
Cause Kendrick's influence hasn't been as big as Biggies
kendricks body of work> biggie body of work
+KinGAdil019 I believe what he is trying to question isn't of influence but of bodies of work. He means why do people say Kendrick doesnt have enough with 3lbums and at least 2-3 mixtapes while Big had 2albums. Not saying Big isnt great but what is being questions is what makes one amount enough for someone and not enough for the next person.

It's not about the size of the discography, but the size of its content. good kid, m.A.A.d. city and To Pimp a Butterfly are as conceptually and artistically dense as any hip hop album I've ever heard, you can easily argue his albums as being among the best ever achieved in hip hop
real shit king
Nah, Kendrick is not better than Kanye, Kaine, Pharoahe Monch, or DOOM. You can get the fuck out of here with that.
@@ilovecody7514 half of the rappers in the list aren't better than the people you name here

Um what about the Supervillain? MF DOOM should be in the discussion for sure. No one in history matches his cleverness, rhyme schemes, wordplay, obscurity and genius.
preach nigga preach
DOOM is my favorite rapper and would be on my list for sure, but there are 2 reasons why he isn't on this list.
1:DOOM falls in the same criteria as kanye and dre, he's a producer rapper, more known for his production (at least that's how I heard of him)
2: DOOM is hella underground. this is billboard we talkin about, a bunch of white dudes that think they know about hip hop
+lord.quasimoto youre right but I meant DEHH's discussion
+Oso Flocka Flame don't think so. a majority of people that I know that listen to DOOM are black. then again, not a lot of people that listen to DOOM. but to say 99%? that's a stupid assumption

Scrootumm not in the underground, I actually think hes quite well known any true hip hop head knows who doom is
Scrootumm wait until u hear kaan now that is something u call underrated
so is lupe
Same with Aes and Lupe
If you're underground you don't get mentioned and rightly so. If you think nas and Jay-Z fell off because they couldn't replicate their first albums you're a fool. If lyricism sold albums, nas, Jay-Z and eminem would put in more work into their verses. You can't compare an artist whose ambition is to sell a million records to one whose ambition is to prove to the whole world that they're the best lyricist. Black thought, mf doom, elzhi were all influenced by nas one way or the other. Black thought sounded like some whack 80s emcee on the first roots album. He changed his rhyming patterns and cadence after illmatic. Nas wrote illmatic when he was 17, saying doom is better is blasphemy.
1: Lil b
Why wasn't he on the list? -2pac
+Based Jeb Kush if Lil' B didn't make the list why would think Pac would be on it?
+Ness7450 the joke went right over your head
Ness7450 tf you saying?
+Based Jeb Kush My bad I'm high as fuck right now
Pac not being on the list really hurt the list's credibility that it even had. Whether Pac is #1, top 3, top 5, etc etc is debatable, but Pac's influence, body of work and skills automatically puts him in the discussion. The biggest misconception about Tupac was that he wasn't a "MC or lyrical". If you listen to his debut and 7 day Theory, Pac was using different flows, rhyme schemes displaying his technical ability. Billboard was really trying to downplay the man's legacy and its disgusting.

Biggie's album has already stood the test of time, and is probably the most influential East coast rapper of all time. Kendrick hasn't stood the test of time yet, nor is he the greatest from the West Coast.
biggie is a better MC
Biggie was a gangsta rapper with crazy flow. Kendrick brings a conscious message to the mainstream. Kendrick has more awards. But I guess we'll have to wait and see from your logic
TheErw91 awards? Really? That's what you're going to judge them by?
Let me just put a name in this conversation that has a better flow then Kendrick and is more lyrical and conscious then Biggie...Mos Def.

top 5 I’m sayin easily
Everyone is taking about how many albums Kendrick, Biggie, or Lauryn Hill had. But are y'all forgetting that Andre 3000 has 0 solo albums?
Jack Dawson Outkast is one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time, and Andre is better than Big Boy.
Jack Dawson Andre went off on his albums tho. I might be dickriding cuz he’s my number one but I feel like it doesn’t matter when him and big boi made such good music
@@bostonfalcons But if Big Boi wasn't there with him, and contrast from him so greatly but still be an immense rapper, would Andre be considered so highly? We know what Big Boi was like as a solo artist, he's got a certified classic under his belt. What would Andre produce in terms of a pure rap album. Andre is a goat, but he was damn lucky to have such a skilled partner in Big Boi, who's also a goat.
Stacks resume is triple of what all these people have done so far, however k dot will easily be a contender for the crown when he is done, people are just hating to think otherwise
Go fuck yourself. Make half the music André did, at half the quality and you'll be the new-school GOAT. Ur fucking point is disgusting, just invalidating his many masterpieces because "he doesn't have a solo album".

"Kendrick's body of work isn't big enough." Proceeds to say how Pun should be Top 10 even though Pun only released 1 album during his life and another posthumously. There are arguments for Pun to be Top 10 and for Kendrick not to but to use body of work with one of them and not the other is hypocritical. Same with Biggie.
Well at the time TPAB had only been out for a couple months and Gkmc for few years. Longevity and how an album ages is def apart of it. I’m sure now nobody would have a problem putting Kendrick top 10
@@rahulraheja6919 Kendrick still had 3 albums and several mixtapes at that point
@@christophergooding9820 that doesn’t change my point
I understand the point they were making about Kendrick however it ended up with them completely discrediting him, to me the criteria that they were using should have allowed him to be on. Their claim was the discography wasn't large enough however, neither was BIG's nor Pun's one could even. The element they needed to mention was "TIME". It's completely fair to say Kendrick simply hasn't been present in the limelight long enough to be considered for an all-TIME list. However five years from now Kendrick will be common place on these lists. But if it's just Bars and Discography Kendrick right now is no question one of the greatest we've seen.
Finally, a great point
took the word straight out of my mouth 👌👌
8 years later and this comment is aging just as tremendously as Kendrick's music is
I have no issue with Kendrick and Lauryn Hill in the conversation. BIG only has 2 real albums and Kendrick has 3 for example. You can exclude Kendrick and Lauryn Hill but under the discography size and time in the game logic, you'd have to remove BIG with them.
Not really because BIG had 2 of he greatest albums of all times he's definitely a top 5-10 rapper.
Manny Otero Regardless, the point against Kendrick for example is completely false who actually has a larger discography.
Furthermore, that's completely subjective. I would argue GKMC and TPAB are in the same tier as BIG's records and even if they aren't, I see no issue for Kendrick to be 9th if BIG is or something like that.
+Manny Otero not true. ready to die was a master piece but GKMC is better than life after death.
+Pierre x no just no lol.... Life After Death is light years better lyrically lol
+King Jay I think it was less album counting, and more the fact that the artist that made the list made a much deeper impact in Hip Hop with their one album than the other has made despite having multiple times the number of albums.
Now is that solely because the older stuff was just that much better? Naw, Tupac and Biggie were sealed in as legends, in part, due to the circumstances of their death, for sure, and even apart from that those albums are from a time many adults now that like Hip Hop fondly remember, so there is nostalgia bias at work as well.
So if kendrick and lauryn hill dont have enough material how does biggie?
Biggies albums were damn near flawless and the last one was a double disc. When Life After Death dropped no rapper dropped music for over a month. He definitely earned his spot.
+Wildly Coyote i mean thats subjective i like biggie he got one of the best flows him nas and pun but imo his albums aint flawless i skip a few joints illmatic and reasonable doubt are close to flawless to me but you might disagree
SneakingFox 2 of Kendrick’s albums were damn near flawless

1. Andre 3000
With these top 10 rappers of all time list, it gets too repetitive. This is because 9 rappers are a "must have". People would definitely put in Tupac and Biggie. They in the top 2 most of the time. The big four rappers in the golden era are always in being KRS One, Kool G Rap, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane. The other three are always Nas, Eminem and Jay Z. These guys are always in the middle. The final position will usually be Big Pun, Ghostface etc. It's always interesting to see a list that omits some of these rappers.
I don't put Pac in my top ten. biggie, em, nas, and jay have reserved spots. Wayne too

Personal opinion: Dead End Hiphop’s best picks are based mainly on nostalgia than actually viewing the quality of all areas of each rapper. They refuse to accept a new artist can be better than an old one and that’s the problem with older millennials when it comes to music in general. Even when Kendrick gets 5 more albums out, they won’t ever put him above biggie because they grew up loving biggie and they won’t pay as much attention to Kendrick’s work. That’s just my opinion
Very true
@@sleeperino3054 by now its very hard to argue against kendrick, he's instantly a top 10 pick
I feel like they’ve shifted and and broadened what they like and enjoy over the years, but the older videos definitely have that nostalgia perspective.
Y is Kendrick body of work small but Biggie is considered number 1 with 2 albums
bc biggie has never released a bad song
+Cameron Kinney well you might think he hasn't made a bad song but someone else might. I personally don't think Kendrick has made a bad song and he has one more album than biggie
+Cameron Kinney so with your logic, Kendrick would be the best
Renzo Auer both his albums were garbage to me he's got lyrics, for me he's better on features then anything else
+ktmoney929 If the criteria is barz Biggie is much better than Kendrick. His wordplay and multi-syllabic rapping is LEAPS ahead of Kendrick. Kendrick is a good artist (story teller) and song writer; but bar for bar Biggie would rap circles around him. Kendrick isn't really a "rappers rapper". He doesn't have hard hitting battle bars.
Biggie is up there with Eminem when it comes to *bars*. though. If Eminem died after the Eminem Show. He would still be on this list too because he is just that fucking good lyrically. And I love Kendrick, Section 80 is one of my favorite albums period, but I don't love him for bars. He doesn't wow me with lyrical dexterity like a King Los or Eminem. Its moreso the subject matter and song crafting that make Kendrick good.

Medelhavs Korv Lupe Fiasco
Medelhavs Korv if Kendrick can’t be on it, you really think Royce is better and had a better impact on hip hop than Kendrick?
S Mac Kendrick is definitely more popular but is he a better emcee than Royce?? I question that.
Armando Ramirez a better emcee? Maybe not. But has Kendrick had a bigger impact on hip hop than Royce has had? Most definitely. I’m not saying I can see the future. But from where it stands, in 2025 (10 years after TPAB’s release), TPAB will definitely be looked at as one of the greatest and most impactful & influential hip hop albums of ALL TIME. You’d be lying if you said you can’t see that. Even now, TPAB is one of the most important albums in hip hop and arguably THE most impactful album in hip hop this decade.
S Mac TPAB is dope. Love that shit. But if according to this list (Which i think is a horrible list BTW), we are judging ability on the mic, I would still put Royce above Kendrick.
My personal top 10, not inclusive to just the "MC" criteria:
10. Mos Def
9. Eyedea
8. Pharoahe Monche
7. Black Thought
6. Big Pun
5. Nas
4. Kendrick
3. Eminem
2. MF DOOM
1. Andre 3000
Wu Tang Clan as a collective unit would probably rank at number 6 on my list
+Ben NeJame Agree with the camera man, Jean Grae is the top femcee but not top 10 all time for me at least, possibly top 20
I could argue the shit out of Kendrick and Em being in my top 5
Ben NeJame Great list and love Thought in there. But no Lupe no list lol
Fuckkkno!!! Wayne
In no particular order, my top 10 RAPPERS (not artists cause Kanye would be on there):
Eminem
Notorious B.I.G
MF Doom
Jay-Z
Kendrick Lamar
Ghostface
Cube
2 Pac
Nas
Rakim
Edit: Big Daddy Kane and Chuck D are honorable mentions
I wouldn't have em
Top 3 wrappers
1. Aluminum
2. Plastic
3. Paper
Kendrick has 2 mixtapes (unreleased, overly dedicated) and 3 albums (section 80, gkmc, tpab) all of which were both lyrically and instrumentally amazing, criticallt acclaimed, and very popular, while staying true to hip hop. Tell me how that body isnt big enough when BIG had 2 albums?
what more can wayne do for people to see he's a top 10 rapper of all time. He has done more good things than bad things in hip hop. he's the only rapper that really evolved from a kid rapper with the hot boys to now. most versatile rapper, can rap on a traditional hip hop beat, trap beat, or rock beat, it don't fuckin matter. ya'll hate on sorry for the wait 2 and fwa, but he was rhyming his ass off on those mixtapes and I thought it was dope. people think those projects weren't good cause of nitpicky shit like content(shouldn't be judge, never was a rapper that had a lot messages in his music in the first place), voice. this guy has nothing to prove and ya'll want him to do more, dats fuckin bullshit. niggas compare wayne to drake, dats fuckin bullshit. drake is a pop star, wayne is hip hop in the truest sense. yeah, wayne had some shitty albums and shitty lines, but he has one of the best albums, mixtapes, and quotables and complex/witty lines. people think its simple, na ya'll don't understand. Lines like "There's no brake lights, in my car rear/career," "If you don't see what I'm saying, I'll give you an eye/I exam" are good. He may put his lyrics in a simple way, but its shit that you can decipher. It's unfortunate people will only appreciate him when he's dead, and that's fucked up. he impacted hip hop too much not to be mentioned with the greatest. even kendrick was influenced by wayne, he did a whole mixtape using carter 3 beats and copying his flow and delivery. but, kendrick is viewed in a better light cause he's conscious and wayne is considered ignorant, that shit don't make sense. kendrick would've been like wayne if he stayed being k dot. do your history before you judge rappers. respect wayne cause he got nothing to else to prove
I totally agree. He's proven himself to be the greatest of all time already. he was being compared to 2pac back when Tha carter 3 came out , and during his prime, he was the best. Now that his music hasnt been as good as of late, everyone is acting like he was never the greatest. Wayne changed the game so much, influenced so many rappers, but the fans aren't loyal. if Wayne retired when he released Tha carter 3 he would've been at the top no doubt about it, but two words you never hear, Wayne quit. People tend to forget when he was the greatest, and how influential he was. He would beat people on their own song in features and remixes! No doubt Weezy is in top 10.
Let these biased one dimensional hiphop listeners talk. Wayne is top 10 of all time and not even up for debate.
He's a bit of everything, he has the lyricism, technicality, appeal, body of work, longevity, respect (from peers), influence etc...
I have respect for lil wayne but in no way he deserves a top 10 spot when they left rappers like big pun , big l, canibus, reggie , KG and KRS one
Fake hip hop fans don't respect Wayne. Honestly I think he's one of the most respected rappers of all time when it comes to other rappers opinions of him, they know he's top 10
I see wayne in my top 20 for sure
I personally think Chuck D from Public Enemy should be on the list
He's overlooked a lot when it comes to top 10s
KRS-one or Chuck D should be in the ten slot instead of Wayne.
glad y'all mentioned Chuck D. Hardest bars of all time "i got so much trouble on my mind , refuse to loose, heres your ticket , hear the drummer get wicked" point blank period"
Zerrick Henderson 0
Nah but top 5 voices in hip hop though

stfu
Alpha mcgregor it is
you right he's had plenty great projects post carter 3
Terrible Gaming bet you ain’t even listen to No Ceilings
Right they just hate lil Wayne. Believe me, Krazy, let the beat build, A MILLI. Like come on
Rod trying to get y'all in trouble asking "is there a woman you'd put in there?" lol
What about Big-L? Everyone always sleeps on him but without him a lot of rappers who use hardcore/horrorcore lyrics might not be around!
No list without 2Pac is to be voided..
Facts
everyone shitting on Wayne like lyricism is just talking about street stuff or something. How creative is Wayne with his bars? How many times have you heard a Wayne bar and go like "how the fuck did he think of that?" Wayne is a legend, and he was not seen as the greatest because he said he was, even legends like Redman and Jay say Wayne is one of the greatest of all time, Ross too. IMO Wayne deserves at the very least to be on the list. You might as well just make a list with East Coast rappers, since only that is "having bars". Remember what Jay said on the first verse of Dead Presidents pt 2. There's gotta be more than that. I'd have Wayne number 8, easily. And he still got it, go listen to the Hot Boys Remix he put out this summer
Wait...Kendrick doesn't have enough albums to put on there with his three albums (Section.80, Good Kid, m.A.A.d City, and To Pimp A Butterfly)...but Biggie is up in the top 3, when he only has two albums? Like, I think Biggie's great, but you can't deny one because of the number of albums they have, and accept one with less albums. PLUS, I think more people would come out and say Good Kid, m.A.A.d City is one of the best albums of all time than Life After Death. There is no arguing Ready to Die's cemented place in history or how TPAB is going to become a classic...so the battle is really between those two. Now, again, I love both of them...but if Kendrick's next album is excellent too...he'll confirm his place in my mind as the greatest of all time. Hands down.
Also, no love for Aesop Rock? That dude should be on more lists like this, he's just so lyrical.
For a mainstream music company like Billboard, i think its a pretty damn good list
1. Tupac
2. Eminem
3. Biggie
4. Nas
5. Kendrick
6. Lauren Hill
7. Pun
8. Takin
9. Andre
10. Kane
Those are my top 10.

He spits hot fire.
DOOM, Del, Yasin Bey, Immortal Tech, and locksmith always get left out of the conversation and I don’t know why
Midwest Monstaz who is Locksmith 🤨😖
Objectively Speaking I think the 10 would be
Rakim, Em, Wayne, Big, Pac, Nas, Hov, 3k, Kendrick, Cube
why is dmx never even mentioned man
glad y'all mentioned Chuck D. Hardest bars of all time "i got so much trouble on my mind , refuse to loose, heres your ticket , hear the drummer get wicked" point blank period"
People will keep sleeping on Kendrick but then when he’s gone they’re gonna call him a Genius/Legend. It’s okay to appreciate artists while they’re still here man
i wonder how Big Boi feels when he gets left out these discussions likes he wasn't a vbig part in Kast or doesn't have a bigger body of work than 3k....
+ERRoN KiNG big boi is a great rapper but was slightly overshadowed by andre's delivery and presence. Outkast would be in the top 10 rap groups mos definitely.
+Frank Wave top ten groups would be wutang then outkast and they really could interchange between 1 and 2.
+brianna hughes ATCQ is right there with them
big boi & Andre 3K are intertwined no matter how much ppl downplay him
Mike M smh big was dre's equal for at least 3 to 4 albums.....
1.eminem 2.rakim 3.Nas 4.biggie 5.pac 6.jay z 7.andre 8.krs one / or scarface 9. Ice cube 10. Snoop dogg
No Em is not #1
Jordan McDuffie you can make that argument most definitely but that's how my list would be
Imma need you give back all the rap you have in your memory
boy how the fuck you have eminem above rakim, nas, scarface? ??
Cameron Kinney you act like I put master p above them or something
my personal top ten
10.Kendrick Lamar
9.MF DOOM
8.Eminem
7.jay-z
6.nas
5.Ice Cube
4.Andre 3000
3.Rakim
2.Biggie
1.2pac
keep in mind there is a lot of hip hop I haven't listened to yet
Solid list bro
Why does everyone keep putting Pac and Biggie top 2? I can name tons of emcees better than them
+I Ain't No Joke people feel like they have to for some reason
I agree it's like they always 1 and 2 but ppl only putting them 2 in there bc everybody else is doing it. have a mind of your own bc they are artists that are better than them.
+allas where you feel Kendrick should be placed?
Eminem is one of the most influential artists of all time, the most successful, most decorated, and best selling hip hop artist of all time, and the best selling artist overall of 2000s. Lyrically he is arguably the best, for sure the best in telling a story through a song, just pure genius. The flow, the word play and rhymes he puts in a song, nobody can match that. He is a legend, a global icon. Eminem is the mothafucking GOAT.
Tilen Seme name one prominent rapper influenced by eminem. Nas is way more influential, has a better discography and is a better lyricist.
lethubuhle moyo bro stfu I bet u don’t even listen to nas
Bat Guy go sleep little man. Eminem ain't better than black thought or pharaohe monch lyrically, if you think otherwise that's fine, idgaf
lethubuhle moyo nah I only said anything cause motherfuckers always say nas is better than Eminem without being able to name 10 nas songs
lethubuhle moyo also one prominent rapper influence by Eminem is j Cole, Kendrick there’s two for yo bitchass
Great vid guys My List:
1.2Pac
2.Big
3.Jay-Z
4.Nas
5.Eminem
6.Cube
7.Rakim
8. Big Daddy Kane
9. KRS One
10. IDK AT this point tons could go here so I'm going throw in an underrated wild card. DMX.
+Patrick Griffin All Kendrick needs is time and I'm willing to put him at #3
Great list id put dmx in there as well
+Patrick Griffin this list agreeable fr. only thing id do is put 3stacks at 6 and shift cube and them up one spot (sorry DMX but respect)
+Nathan Gray Aside from loving all these guys music the thought behind the list is that Cube Rakim, Kane, And KRS One and you can throw in Chuck D or Slick rick too, pretty much set the template for greatness from the late 80s- early 90s (golden era) so they get in. Pac, Big, Jay, and Nas, sort of took what those rappers did to a new level so they get the top 5 slots. After that its any rappers game, I've seen people throw on anyone from Andre 3000 to Pun to Big L to even MC Lyte and Latifah( if you were gonna mix things up and add a woman). All are deserving really.
So are we just gonna pretend nas isnt the best of all time.
ikr
50 percent yes and no, I think he got exactly where he should be at on the list but maybe he could be a little bit higher
in my opinion nas is better the n eminen so i would just swap them on the list
we're just gonna know Nas isn't the best of all time.
kanyes goat
Word. I agree with 💯. And hell yeah Black Thought is always underestimated, but a beast.
LL Cool J should have been mentioned because his body of work surpassed them all on the list
Yeah he in my top 20. But a legend
1. DOOM
2. Aesop Rock
3. Eyedea
4. Big L
5. Kanye
5. MC Ride (a bit of a stretch but it counts)
6. Biggie
7. R.A The Rugged Man
8. Method Man
9. Slug
10. Andre 3000
Eyedea in your top 3? Dope. What's your favorite song?
Eyedea doesn't get enough love
+xDeathoholic - Vocal Covers and Other Cancer Eyedea and Aesop are easily top 5 for me.
lol mc ride, I respect it
+Jordan for real man. His music was incredibly insightful.

Scarface
Immortal technique
Biggie
Nas
AZ
J. Cole
Kendrick Lamar
Big K.R.I.T
Jon Connor

My top 10:
1.) Black Thought
2.) Nas
3.) Andre 3000
4.) Pharoahe Monch
5.) MF DOOM
6.) Jay Z
7.) Ghostface Killah
8.) Common
9.) Del The Funky Homosapien
10.) Mos Def
WildfireWiffler44 love that you put common on here
What a wonderful list
Better than most Peoples lists
There's no top 10 list without Eminem, Big & Pac
Zaid Nowadays I’d put BIG in the top 5 actually. This old list from four years ago is outdated plus I was much more of a hipster back then (Del The Funky Homosapoen, Monch, MF DOOM are all hipster ass choices for a top 10.) I love Pac but he’s more like top 20 to me honestly, he a legend tho. And Eminem nah, dudes a pop rapper, he ain’t dope. He isn’t even top 5,000
If Kendrick gave up the mic as of now he would be a top ten MC. Period.
Still no project in more than 3 years😭😭
1. Rakim
2. Sean Price
3. Nas
4. Eminem
5. Redman
6. Methodman
7. WC
8. Tray Dee
9. Ghostface Killah
10. Sticky Fingaz
1. Black Thought
2. Nas
3. Andre3k
4. MFDoom
5. Rakim
6. Mos Def
7. Common
8. Talib Kweli
9. Redman
10. Pharoah Monch
on point with this ..
How come no one ever mentions Redman? Redman is probably the most consistent MC as far as bodies of work and straight bars. Personally, he's my favourite and I know he doesn't need to be everyone's but he definitely deserves to be in the conversation I think. So under reated
Yessir! I would put Kool G Rap and Scarface in there too.
Just in terms of Wu Tang Clan members, I would have replaced Ghostface with either the GZA or Raekwon. I mean, Liquid Swords and Cuban Linx are considered two of the best and most influential Hip-Hop albums ever made. There's a reason GZA usually got the last verse on songs.
ghostface classics are triple the wutang and other members of Wu tang classics
Id put Kobe as a rapper in my Top 10 before i put Drake in there
10.Chuck D,9.Kid Cudi,8.Notorious B.I.G, 7.Ice Cube ,6.Jay-Z ,5.Big Pun ,4.Nas ,3.Tupac ,2.Kanye West,1.Andrè 3000. Honorable Mention Wyclef Jean ,Q-Tip ,Bushwick Bill ,Ole Dirty Basterd ,Eminem ,Ghost Face, Killa ,Snoop Doggy Dog ,M.C. Rein, Fat Joe
Potential Top 10 ,Kendrick Lamar ,Danny Brown ,J. Cole ,Drake ,Brockhampton ,Tyler. The Creator ,Chance the Rapper ,Childish Gambino ,KYLE
Me personally, again me personally, missy eliot is the best female rapper
Thank You ... For GOD SAKE, WHY DOES NO ONE SEE THAT
Squad Reacts
I would respectfully disagree with that notion I believe in terms of lyrical density and storytelling as well as consistency I would say someone like Rapsody or MC Ren
Yeah, I was about to say Rapsody, she'd lyrically annihilate Missy Eliot.
Andrew Azreal Nope sorry Rah Digga,Lady of Rage Mc Lyte, Queen Latifah ,Lauryn Hill, Sa Roc, Jean Grae , Lil Kim, Eve all better
Andrew Azreal Rapsody no question.
Why the fuck is Lauryn hill in the list and not 2pac
That's the real L
lowkey I have no idea who she is lol
@paul luna. Holy shit. Ok you must be 12
Frank Wave nah 17, don't hate fam, everyone can't know every old school rapper.
I love her, but I have to agree with you!
Here's my list:
Kendrick
Kanye
Aesop Rock
Black Thought
MF Doom
Jay-Z
André 3000
Eminem
Common
El-P
Zacryx I’ve list
Good list I meant
Tupac is a top 5 artist through any genre, they be banging that niggas shit way out in Vladivostok for real
No flavaflave?!?!?!? Fuck billboard
😂😂😂😂noo
Where the fuck is Matty B?
Where the fuck is pitbull
where tf is ice jj fish?
Flave was a musician far more than a rapper.
Top 5 Dead or Alive.
1. Biggie
2. 2 Pac
3. Nas
4. Big Pun / Big L
5. Eminem
Tupac may not have had the word play, but he definitely had the charisma, incredible delivery and his raps made sense. Not this random mumbo jumbo we get these days.
If they (both the magazine and DEHH) were talking about MCs/lyricists, the fact that nobody even thought about MF DOOM hurts me deeply
Percee P should be in the conversation. He never gets the love he deserves. Dude's a beast
FACTS!!!. Finally someone mentions Percee P. He, along with Kane, Kool G Rap, and Rakim were doing that multi syllable rhyming long before it became a thing to talk about. He’s in my top 10.
My top ten changes but my top three remains Tupac JayZ Eminem
10 years ? Wayne's been jn the rap game for almost 20 yrs. and he fell off after no ceilings which was 09 and he's been on his shit since '14. SMH these guys don't even know this. L
+Trap D5 was flames bruh and his feats last and this year been crazy. and I'm pretty sure he broke sites with d5 and sftw2 was alright but still one of: or Is the most listened tape this year
Sftw 2 FWA...
Not to mention like 30 different fts in 2015
+Trap what anime is your Av. from
+Trap i thought so. Badass show shoulda been longer tho
Really bugs me when people say Pac wasn't a lyricist just because he wasn't the type of rapper who's style would for towards a 'battle rap'. Pax was a poet, his voice, his delivery, the way he poured his words out, three all time classic albums, huge body of work, huge impact, he's my favourite of all time, you could have that discussion, but to not have him immediately in a top 10 is a joke
crazy watching this so many years later. need a redux
KENDRICK HAS 3 ALBUMS!!
Biggie had two
I don't think Kendrick should be on the list YET but no artist has had his first couple albums get as much acclaim as he's gotten
Yea i felt the same way until i thought about it. Good Kid Mad City is being held to the standard of Illmatic. Which is considered by most the Greatest hip hop album ever made.
GKMC, TPAB & ?....
+Eric Barnett II Section 80
