Drake over jcole is criminal when this guy was talking about strict rapping with ice cube. Keep that same energy
Thing is, Drake can have an argument of being a better rapper than J. Cole earlier in their careers. Cole just evolved past that and is the best at in the world at this moment in time.
@@nolimitr86 u can compare flow and bars all you like and sure drake has his moments but the difference is cole has never needed writers, let alone lied about it. Plus more consistent soooo…
@@cormacflynn7168 you must not know how many rappers have had ghostwriters. Don't let that dictate your judgement. Every Rapper has his flaws.
@@nolimitr86 yeah i dont know. Neither do you. I do know however, that cole has never even been accused of using writers ever. Him and drake are not comparable in this scenario.
@@cormacflynn7168 yes I do know.😂, Don't be so sensitive about a ranking list if you do know Cole is better, it's just someone opinion.
NFR BEST HIPHOP PODCAST OF 2023. Proud to see how far you guys took this podcast I’ve been watching since day one 🙌
Devin a true 🐐

nahh💀💀
Average ant pick🤣

Lu: How many rappers can say they're the best rapper from their state?
I'm no mathematical genius but the answer to that question is probably 50
Lol
it’s a rhetorical question. it’s crazy to think about because the likes of hov, rakim, ghostface killah, method man, billy woods, and others wouldn’t be able to say/weren’t able to say they were the best (because of nas/biggie or some other figure)
@@rhocloudsHonestly, Pharoahe Monch, a person listed VERY low on these twos’ lists, is in this conversation. I’d say it’s between Nas and Pharoahe imo.
The drake meatriding is crazy

They really had Drake and not Mac MIller lmao
Drake would get dog walked by all these dudes deadass
there’s people they didn’t even put top 50 that id have over drake nevermind the guys on the top 50
they are the definition of hypebeasts, what do you expect. they talk about this shit like its some profound topic, corny af
I lied Drake over Redman is completely insane.
Really interesting list didn't expect Tom Mccdonald to be at #1 but I see where you're coming from!
They definitely had some convincing reasoning
Kid Rock could've been higher tho, #3 just doesn't seem right
@@colinstevens2462 One could argue that Kid Rock influenced Tom MacDonald, truly an underrated GOAT
Tom is the worst rapper of all time can’t believe people fall for Tom’s shit
Drake wayyyyyyyyyyyy too low on Ant’s list
Carti at #1 for both of you was a shock! But very true indeed, he created music!
Fr 😂
Actually Soulja Boy created music. Y’all need to start checking up on y’all’s history knowledge I swear.
Lu putting Smokepurpp over JAY-Z and Nas at #7 was unexpected, but respectable.
This video was amazing and you guys give love to a lot of people who deserve more love. Amazing job the last couple years guys.
Lu at the start of the video: we gonna rank them by lyrical skill set, influence and importance to the genre. Also Lu: I have Drake above Big L, Kool G Rap, KRS One, DMX, BDK, Big Pun and Raekwon 💀 at least he gave Ghostdini his well deserved flowers
Big L, LH, and Cole too 💀
Big L is better than Kool G rap imo
@@EazyRocko I agree, G Rap one of my favorites as well but realistically I put L Corleone over him in pretty much every category except longevity and influence/ impact
Nailed it with this comment. Drake is one of the greatest entertainers of all time but this is a rappers list and a man who has lyrics written for him and sings like a high school girl about his feelings in half his songs shouldn't be on the list.
@@goonsquad9148nega are you slow based of what the comment say yes I would absolutely put drake over them are you crazy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Danny brown, asap rocky, jpegmafia, Aesop rock, Tyler, young thug, westside gunn, kid cudi, earl sweatshirt, childish Gambino, Travis, Benny the butcher not being in this list is crazy
Yea travis, tyler and rocky are all easy >>> drake
i agree with some of those names, but which 12 rappers are you dropping for all of them to get a spot?
@@rhoclouds 39-50
Lmaoooooo
JID should also be there as well. Longevity? Homie’s been around for like 9 years and dropped a classic album, and he’s been consistently great for at least 7 of them.
Also, I love how one of their criteria was “innovation” and they completely leave Danny or Peggy out of it 😂
5. Lil Xan 💊
4. Nav 🚨
3. Yuno Miles 💰
2. Tom Macdonald 🇺🇸
1. Eminem (post-mmlp2) 🐐
I knew they would put Nav at Number 1, he truly is the GOAT!

Next top 10 producers maybe? Would be interesting
Preemo Havoc RZA top 3 and we move

Even though common is always in the top 50s, i feel he still gets underrated a lot. He is a straight poet on his shit and albums like Resurrection, LWFC, Be and One Day it'll All Make Sense were all 10/10 AOTY contenders. He has the voice, the lyricism, his longtime producer No I.D and the catalogue to be top 10.
finding forever has some amazing songs too
LWFC and Be are certified classics, you can maybe add Ressurection there as well and ODIAMS is a great album.
Common is THE face of the whole conscious branch of hip hop. He was an important figure of the Soulquarians. He has worked closely with legendary producers, in Kanye and No ID. His impact is undeniable.
He's also one of the best storytellers and his lyrical ability is up there.
Aside from his catalog, he has a whole bunch of dope features (Respiration has got to be one of my favorite songs ever man) and he won a rap beef against Ice Cube.
He would definitely crack my top 20. Easily.
u can definitely consider Resurrection in his top 3. i got it at #2 behind LWFC. first song instantly puts me in the mood for some Common Sense@@LookingForAName...

love the placement of kendrick, after 3 classics in a row, 5 amazing albums discography speaks for itself, his features are insane, lyrical masterpiece, hes got everything from storeytelling to insane rhyme schemes & flows, etc
he should be top3 though, everybody knows this. history will sort this out either way.
@@slimymcbrazy7691 tbh he prob needs at least one more classic albums under his belt to at least be in the top 3 conversation.
Ti and Jeezy belong in top 50 easily. They pretty much pioneered the southern trap sound in early 2000s.
King and trap muzik are classics, the fact that ti wasn't even on either of these lists are crazy
fr
They among with Ludacris,Gucci Mane,OutKast,Killer Mike and Lil Jon made Atlanta the center of rap in the 2000s
no TI is CRAZYYY
@@noahYouAlreadyKnowItbig facts, those are the two undisputed classics.
Lil Wayne, 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar, Nas.. can’t have a top 10 without them imo

Lil wayne is not a lock 10.
Wayne and pac aren’t my top10 sorry!
y’all should do a top 50 FAVOURITE list !! dope video guys, keep it up
great list. I grew up with the 2010s rap so I’m biased towards Rocky, joey badass, Danny brown and I think they defo deserved a spot
Makes sense. That's the era that created music for your generation! I grew up with the early 2000's stuff, and I do love the melodic production from that era... But in my old age, I've become a bit more biased towards the 80's rappers xD
Danny Brown is crazy different though! No one raps like that guy.
Joey not making it lowkey hurt a lot😭 1999 for me is good enough to put him up there imo
Thug and Pluto might be in my top 50. They’re so influential and modern HipHop wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for these two
Besides that has Thugger S-tier rapping abilities. His flow, cadence, and voice inflictions are insane. He’s so talented besides not being the most lyrical rapper
They’re in the artist list forsho

No way he is top 10. He might be great and shit, but not top 10
@@pinthecool1who’s better ?
@@AnonymousALAH when taking discog into account, there are like 25 better rappers than him, and that's despite groups being hard to rank
The album catalog is not that great. Maybe top 20 though
@@AnonymousALAH It all comes down to personal taste.
Personally, I don't see the big deal about him. It's not that I think he's terrible... It's that people treat like he's the one-man Beatles of hip hop, or that he's hip hop's version of Mozart. I like Lil Wayne, but I don't see him as this once-in-a-century talent of songwriter and once-in-a-century talent of rapping. Lyrically, I've never been impressed, but I've heard some great flows from him. But... not at the level that people constantly talk about him, as if he's living evidence that God exists.
The game should be mentioned somewhere the man has classic albums hits battle tested and can rap for 1 hour straight
i know im a month late, but i just wanna say you guys are awesome man. i can tell you guys put a ton of effort into your podcast, and it is quality content for sure. i never get tired of listening to you guys get into it. keep doin ya thing! and get my boy eminem into that top 5
Drake in top 50 is CRIMINAL
Yeah he should be in the top 10
@axhvwwwovorm5854 he should be in top 100
24:47 I saw KRS live in Lawrence, Kansas and a good portion of his set was freestyles and crowd games, you could really tell how much fun he was having making it up as he went. Felt like watching a magician except the "trick" was an actual magic power
Wow that sounds like an incredible experience
@NFRPodcast it was! got to shake his hand at the end, 10/10 night
"Longevity is so important" but Biggie is like Lou's GOAT and both have multiple rappers very high that had like less than 10 years careers. But then will turn around and say that it's too early to call Kendrick the GOAT even though the only rapper that can even compete with Kendrick is Nas. And Kendricks been releasing studio albums for 12 years, and release projects in general since like 2005 or something
Valid point..
He is top 3
Yeah, these guys got some serious double standards. I get that he released 2 classics while alive but you can’t just imagine the rest of Biggie’s career.
Also, they talk about being an amazing MC… then why is Pharoahe Monch so low??? Pharoahe Monch is 10x the MC JCole will ever be! He bas better projects, better track presence, more varied instrumentals, and he’s - most importantly - a better spitter. Seeing Ghostface Killah in BOTH of their top 20s further proves my point that Pharoahe should be up there with him!
Anyway, my point is it feels like these guys didn’t completely do their research on each of these MCs as there’s no way they ranked some of these people the way they did with full context of their careers
I thought I was alone in having Kid Rock at #1 but clearly you guys agree!!!
Gonna put Nas at one so am all for it
James Brown number 1
Hey guys, would you ever do a top 10 producers of all time? I think that would be a really interesting idea...
Thank you for going over the criteria for the list.
Getting to see SexxyRedd crack the the top 10 was beyond a surprise to me, definitely one of the rappers to ever do it
I swear if Lu has Tupac any below #12 ill be pissed
Tupac is trash
He didn't have him in the top 10 so probably 11 or 12 unless the thumbnail is correct

These guys are my favorite thing to watch with a meal of listen in the background with my studies. Goats 🗣️🗣️
Nas being number 1 on both list is 100% accurate
hes not the goat to me but yeah top 3
Nas is number 2
Facts, easily the goat. None of the ones other people consider as the goat as the longevity he does and can still pump out grammy nominated albums at his age.

Great lists one guy I'd include is MCA from Beastie boys as I think his prominence for his era, influence and catalogue is there and he often gets left off these lists. Would also have QTip higher probably scraping the top 10
Fun video idea: Get a tracklist and mix around the order of the songs and try to rearrange the songs to be in the same order
2Pac The Greatest Of All Time. 🕊❤

i want to know what ant was smoking before creating this list.
Hard to make everyone happy with a list like this. I disagree with so much on both of your lists that I can't even comment on them. But still a great video, very entertaining. Would love to see this with albums, because I feel like a top albums list is more agreeable than rappers. Most people have a more common opinion on the best albums than they do the best rappers I think.
That’s actually a great idea and perspective
Another masterclass of a video! Always puts a smile on my face to hear you guys discuss rap with the passion you have. Only thing I would change in the list is Q-Tip's placement. He's one of my favorite rapperrs and I really think that as a major part of tribe with all the classics they have, he's at least top 15 imo.
yeah hes good
Facts
Now we need a top 10 fav rapper video
(Maybe a hot take) Ghost is my favorite and he cracks the top 5 goats imo. I just think that Supreme Clientele is the Mona Lisa of rap and this album (and Ghost himself) are the epitome of lyricism, cadence, and flow.
I definitely think there's an argument for that, the man spits insane bars and influenced DOOM. Between his work with Wu-Tang and his solo stuff he's has an awe inspiring career.
Ice Cube should definitely be a top 10 consideration. The writing on SOOC was better than NWAs second album. His first 4 solos range from classic to great. After Eric B And Rakim's first 3 albums and before Illmatic what solo rapper was making the best music? The answer is Ice Cube : 91 into 93 he's the best. He's one of the few rappers you can definitively make a case was the best at some point. I agree with Gibbs being in a Top 50. Over the last 8-9 years he's had a handful of AOTY contenders. Lupe would in my top 10 he's had AOTY contenders in 3 different decades and bar for bar he's one of the all-time greats.
I hope you do also a top 25 or 50 list of producers
Mos Def and Common not gone get they flowers until they die. Shit is crazy how people can put Drake & Lil Wayne over them and claim they’re hip hop heads.
spitting mathematics right here
Wayne is valid fight me🤷♂️
@@aydenx3fax
You guys dropped the ball with TI and Ross… they have longevity, a classic or 2, they held their own when it came to rapping with the top MCs and they have hits.
You just can't make an argument for them being better than anyone else on this list
Not to shit on someone like Pharoe monch but what has he done that’s special? he literally has 2/3 songs that ppl know of and who has he rapped with? Has he been on songs with ppl like Nas, Wayne, Jay, Kanye and held his own? No… there’s a few more artists up like that up there.
No real longevity. These dudes have been around for 15+ … a lot of the older mcs unfortunately didn’t have any longevity
Thank you guys for making hiphop genre alive.
as someone whos been on a huge RTJ binge i gotta say im ECSTATIC to see killer mike on a top 50 list, that man spits

W
Lou’s got his head on straight and his heart in his chest with the Mos Def pick. He’s in my top five along with Young Thug. YT because of his sheer creativity and impact.
YT should be in top 30 or 20 just for how much impact he had on making trap such a versatile and genre bending style
guys like danny brown, billy woods and mach hommy not even being on this list is crazy
Honourable mentions for us
@@NFRPodcast From what I've heard you guys say about them, XXX, AE, and STH seem to be on around the same level as Take Care, NWTS, and IYRTITL for you (maybe a little bit worse). The rest of Danny's catalog completely annihilates the rest of Drake's, so I don't know what's putting Drake in the top 20 and Danny in the honorable mentions other than the fact that he's Drake
One of their best videos yet, GOOD RATINGS TOO
seeing sexy red in your guys top 15 really surprised me but you made fair points tbh
Do top 50 albums of all time
Both top ten lists are actually pretty damn good.
love to see mario judah at #1 🔥🔥🔥 but please make a top 100 🙏🙏🙏
Drake is the most overrated rapper of all time imo. Otherwise solid lists
Anthony putting ice spice at number 1 puts a smile on my face
*Drake at 16? I can’t take Luca’s list seriously. I get his accomplishments and his impact but if we’re talking like pure rappers, Drake shouldn’t even be that high. Honestly, he wouldn’t even crack my list at all.*
Tell me why
Ion think it's about pure rappers also considering how high Lauryn was
We aren't talking about pure rappers, no one ever is talking about pure rap, because no one actually judges music based on how skilled someone is purely at rapping. Good music that means something to people will always take precident over pure rap skill
After Quaranta, Danny Brown without question deserves a place on a top fifty list.
I knew he wouldn’t be on there from these two, sad he doesn’t get the credit he deserves
Arguably in the Top 20 to 30 tbh and idk how JCole or Drake are on these lists but not Tyler the Creator

Drake is a performer and not a single time in a thou eyars he would outrap Big L for example. Big l would smoke him in a freestyle or a battle bar for bar.@@jmoney4220

Drake over prodigy and Big L are you crazy
The Drake glazing is crazy on this channel lmao but I still love it
Great to see DMX getting the love he deserves
Luca's top 10 > Anthony's top 10
I’m glad someone else agrees, disagreed with the pac placement but overall Lu got it
Yeah, I mean he has MF DOOM, 3 Stacks & K-Dot higher, Black Thought & Rakim in there and Eminem lower and Wayne out of it which all makes it more consistently great for me (I care 90+% about discography for the lists, if it was 'bout skill Em is nummero uno! Discography wise he ain't top 10 which doesn't mean his discography is bad whatsoever, it's great I would say and definitely better than Wayne's which is also great). PS: These arguments are given without taking spot 11-50 in consideration so you know, just reviewing the top 10.
@@wildlife8975 Replacing Em with for example 2Pac (or maybe Ghostface or Mos Def) or even better Lauryn Hill (ultimately better) (which Lu had lower in his list) and switching up the order would make Lu's list even better. I think you could even replace Em with Big L or Big Pun to make it better, 'cause their discographies are very consistent, although they're short, but I need to relisten their shit sometime 'cause I didn't listen to these artists for a minute.
Might be a hot take but A$AP Rocky deserves to crack the top 50
I've always know that you guys have impeccable taste in Hip-hop but these lists somehow SURPASSED my expectations of tastemaking. You guys are truly the GOATs of Hip-Hop media and I'm so lucky to be able to watch this decade-defining media empire's takeover.

Pharoahe Monch that low is criminal. Stress is a top 5 hip-hop album of all time, he needs to be at least top 20
Yeah, and their debut is also a classic and HIS solo debut is really damn good! Not to mention that he’s been silently pushing the ball forward, increasing his range of styles over the years: going from boom bap, to soul, to some sort of rap-rock hybrid.
