Hi Becca, 12:42 in the first round according to the rule book , the assassinated character should remain silent until the end of the round. 15:15 And also if you choose the king and you are assassinated ,you have to take the crown in the end of the round anyway. you should started the next round. sad you didn't :( 18:49 thief can't rob rank 1 characters (Assassin, Witch, or Magistrate), the killed character, or the bewitched character. 30:52 if the king is faced up at the start of the round, it should be replaced with another card in the the dealer's hand. the king card should be shuffled back. 46:07 and 50:56 if a player chooses not to take gold and wants a card, they have to look at the top 2 cards of the District card deck, then choose ONE and return the other district card to the bottom of the deck. sorry for the fuss, just wanted to share the right play :) thank you for your lovely and fun videos :*
Thanks for classifying the rules, I think they just wanted to play as close to the rules as possible, the first time playing usually never goes by the rule book no matter how much you think you remember.
Unless the rules have changed, when the King gets assassinated they still get the crown (as the heir to the throne) otherwise the first player could always select the assassin and never lose the crown. Additionally, the thief can’t steal from the Assassin... again, I have the classic FFG version so maybe it’s changed.
I used to play this card game a lot with some friends and I remember this one time one of the players showed his card before being called out because he was mad that someone killed him or robbed him I don't know and that completely ruined my whole strategy for that round which was something fucking epic, I am still a little bit mad!
Also, at 33:40 Erica could have destroyed the Tavern which Dave had just built for *free*. The Warlord can destroy for 1 less cost *even if he also builds that turn*. It’s not either/or.
As usual great episode love your videos but a couple notes on this one, there was some mistakes: - Even if the king is assassinated it's the person how choose/has the king who gets the crown at the end (they are considered the "heir"), otherwise the king is very weak and nothing stops the first king player to assassinate the king every turn to keep the crown. - Secondly, the thief cannot rob the assassin because he was already revealed before, it's the only character he cannot rob. - Thirdly, the character who was assassinated is supposed to reveal at the end of the everyones turn (but that mechanic doesn't actually affect gameplay it's more for the "suspens")
Everyone mentioning about the King and heir never mention also that the King cannot be in the face-up discarded cards... I totally forgot about that until it was covered in Becca's rules video... then nobody in the vid remembered. And the King was in the face-up discarded cards at least twice.
I don't know much what everybody miss, i see actually an good game , very well presented , with tutorial on the start for those who dont know the game (the only suggestion is to make a timeline so everybody knows where tutorial and where actual gameplay) m i think they did pretty good job . still some miscorrection in rules was noticed ....
Is no one else going to comment on B. David not choosing either cards or gold for like two rounds?!? He was the merchant and got all the extra gold but then stopped without ever actually make his normal turn choice of two gold or two cards and keep one!!!
At 37:22 Erica takes 2 cards intead of the gold and has to give 1 back. But at Becca keeps both the cards she picks up (instead of taking the gold) at 46:11, and Chris does the same at 50:55. Why is that? Do they have special abilities on their cheat sheet or did they just forget about that rule?
at 50:30 dave gets the gold from the mercant but not from his aktion so he should have 5 or one cart more on his hand they realy need someone who realy learns the rules at least for post
The king still keeps the crown when assassinated and the player who is assassinated doesn’t reveal they are the assassinated character when their number is called. Also the thief can’t target the Assassin.
You know, you don't have to include the tutorial in the gameplay vids. You can simply say "if you want to know how to set up and play just click the link below." Plus, it looks especially janky when the tutorial says "watch us play this on Game the Game!" - like, well I'm trying to.
48:40 The game does indeed get personal because of 3v1 attacks... that's Betrayal at House on the Hill for you... Whereas for Coup, ironically despite the more frequent attacks, they're all done in a free-for-all setting. I never found Coup antagonistic because attacking players are less personal.
OK so this isn't a strategy video and it's great to see folks having fun with tabletop games... and I'd be amazed if the whiners whining about rules mistakes have ever played a 100% rules-perfect game on video ever... but... ...it would be really nice if the rules goofs could be annotated. Thanks x
Get someone to correct play as you make goofs please! It's really frustrating to watch the rules be forgotten during play. Play a practice round or something so people remember the rules. I want to like this series, but when Fishel forgot to discard one of the districts he drew, it literally won him the game.
In the original game, if someone was assassinated, it wasn't called, and no one else would know until the end of the turn. Was this changed in the new version, or just a mistake?
It was a mistake. The description of the Assassin in the new edition rules is: Call the name of another character whom you wish to kill. When the killed character is called to take his turn, he must remain silent and skip his entire turn for this round without revealing his character card.
Also doesn't the assassinated King still become first player? We have a running joke of handing over the first player token calling out "THE KING IS DEAD LONG LIVE THE KING" which wouldn't work if I misunderstood that rule... edit: spelling
What was surprising was that Erika had to be paranoid enough to pick assassin on that turn she feared retaliation from Fish after she destroyed his Docks. That means she understood the Assassin's defensive usage. Then ironically she went to pick the Warlord when Fish would have defended himself with the Assassin. It wasn't a blunder it was innocence.
atlmyk I don’t regularly watch this I usually can’t get through the first 5 minutes. It wouldn’t bother ME much but I don’t complain much because I know others appreciate it. I just wish we had a concrete reason with what happened, not the hearsay we have. I can always hope, and while I know it most likely won’t happen, I have personally survived and witnessed greater things happen on just a hope and a prayer.
Chris was looking at Becca’s cards so much! He totally knew what cards she had when he stole them. Chris... You’re the producer!!! You should know better! Hopefully he’s not a repeat guest. He’s bad TV er... UA-cam. #chrisisacheater
Three pointers. The king at 31:00 was face up and not put back. 2nd this show is where better than TT, because WW sounds like he gargles glass. 3rd keep the tutorial in the vids
Ive watched two of these, and I like it more than Tabletop. They actually play to win instead of this "play for fun " shit no one does. Dont get me wrong, I love Wil Wheaton, but this seems like they know the rules better and play more like my group would. On this one LOVED the black dude, and the smoking hot purple hair girl dresses like me, with a ratty T shirt.
The sound balance is waaay out of whack. The music is blaringly loud compared to the spoken word volume. Did your sound engineer forget to run this through a balancer, or did you forget to hire a sound engineer. Seriously, I have the sound loud enough for the spoken word to be conversational and my subwoofer tries to shake my desk apart while my ears actively hurt when you play the music.
SomeoneSneaky Game the Game has been on for years. Becca plays just as many games as Wil. And the level of complexity on this show is much higher than Tabletop. The only difference I see is one host is a woman.
great episode perfect game for this, good fun group, #monopoly is always best, could do without the million editor's thoughts a few are ok but this was too much.
Ads are a bit unfitting for a video that has little to no suspense or action. Neat game though, and I understand that ya gotta get that gold irl too :)
Tabletop air many episodes with multiple errors. I'm not sure you watched the same show I did. I liked Tabletop as well, but seeing as how its over maybe people should stop complaining about it.
Hi Becca,
12:42 in the first round according to the rule book , the assassinated character should remain silent until the end of the round.
15:15 And also if you choose the king and you are assassinated ,you have to take the crown in the end of the round anyway. you should started the next round. sad you didn't :(

Thanks for classifying the rules, I think they just wanted to play as close to the rules as possible, the first time playing usually never goes by the rule book no matter how much you think you remember.
Or at least there should have been a moderator behind the scenes. Sad for the production of this one. 😞
This series is getting better. The music helps, and speeding up the boring parts also works well.
Unless the rules have changed, when the King gets assassinated they still get the crown (as the heir to the throne) otherwise the first player could always select the assassin and never lose the crown. Additionally, the thief can’t steal from the Assassin... again, I have the classic FFG version so maybe it’s changed.
I have the version they are playing and you are correct, both those things haven't changed.
yea it changed
they are not supposed to tell who is the dead person...
ndn they forgot to take back the king and exchange with another card 31:00
I used to play this card game a lot with some friends and I remember this one time one of the players showed his card before being called out because he was mad that someone killed him or robbed him I don't know and that completely ruined my whole strategy for that round which was something fucking epic, I am still a little bit mad!

49:57 King shouldn't be out there as a faceup card.
As usual great episode love your videos but a couple notes on this one, there was some mistakes:
- Even if the king is assassinated it's the person how choose/has the king who gets the crown at the end (they are considered the "heir"), otherwise the king is very weak and nothing stops the first king player to assassinate the king every turn to keep the crown.

- Thirdly, the character who was assassinated is supposed to reveal at the end of the everyones turn (but that mechanic doesn't actually affect gameplay it's more for the "suspens")
Yep. Also player can't choose king card 2nd time in a row.
Actually that's wrong nothing in the rules forbids you from doing that and it wouldn't make sense from a game design point of view.
Yeah, I doublechecked and it was mistranslation in Ukrainian rules. 50+ games played wrong, lol.
Actually, you cannot rob the assassin's target either. Those are the only TWO characters he cannot rob.
Everyone mentioning about the King and heir never mention also that the King cannot be in the face-up discarded cards... I totally forgot about that until it was covered in Becca's rules video... then nobody in the vid remembered. And the King was in the face-up discarded cards at least twice.
At around 46:20 Becca "Drew" 2 cards, when she should have taken 2 and discarded one.
I don't know much what everybody miss, i see actually an good game , very well presented , with tutorial on the start for those who dont know the game (the only suggestion is to make a timeline so everybody knows where tutorial and where actual gameplay) m i think they did pretty good job . still some miscorrection in rules was noticed ....
how am i doing? i'm confused because i remember the rules saying that you have to shuffle the king back if he's one of the face up discards.
Guess they should have watched the tutorial video as well :)
They didn't watch the tutorial
29:05
And there's a girl in this harbor town
And she works layin' whiskey down
They say, Brandy, fetch another round
She serves them whiskey and wine
Is no one else going to comment on B. David not choosing either cards or gold for like two rounds?!? He was the merchant and got all the extra gold but then stopped without ever actually make his normal turn choice of two gold or two cards and keep one!!!
We need to have more videos of people playing citadel on UA-cam. I couldn't find any except this.
No Rolls Barred has a Citadels playthrough they uploaded a few weeks ago.
If you're still interested in watching it.🙂
@@wyatth2992 thank you Sir!
As the magician, don't you pick a character to change cards with once their turn comes around?
At 37:22 Erica takes 2 cards intead of the gold and has to give 1 back. But at Becca keeps both the cards she picks up (instead of taking the gold) at 46:11, and Chris does the same at 50:55. Why is that? Do they have special abilities on their cheat sheet or did they just forget about that rule?
They messed up when they didn't give back a card. There was one other small error pretty far along, but I forget what it is right now. lol
You also are not allowed to steal from the Assassin
I think they forgot, they also got a couple of rules wrong
at 50:30 dave gets the gold from the mercant but not from his aktion so he should have 5 or one cart more on his hand they realy need someone who realy learns the rules at least for post
I want tabletop back
me too.. me too
Same Where's willlll
I'm completely ok with Game the Game and Becca
I agree. 100%
Bring back Tabletop!
It had a different vibe. I agree tho, bring back tabletop. Becca is good, so if Will and Becca co host would be amazing.
The king still keeps the crown when assassinated and the player who is assassinated doesn’t reveal they are the assassinated character when their number is called.
Also the thief can’t target the Assassin.
Please play Mission Red Planet!!
Great show. Picking a game I love, playing it with some happy people, it is well produced and of course Becca is fab...
I made a digital version of the game during the quarantine, you can play online with friends!
citadelsgame.herokuapp.com/
Good production value; absolute nerds
and very woke, wtf. 58:04
You know, you don't have to include the tutorial in the gameplay vids. You can simply say "if you want to know how to set up and play just click the link below." Plus, it looks especially janky when the tutorial says "watch us play this on Game the Game!" - like, well I'm trying to.
Or, just skip ahead a few minutes...
49:59 this has happened before in game, but at 2:16 Becca says you cannot discard rank 4
I was just checking to see if I was crazy and noticed the same thing at 49:59 when they just kept going after discarding the King lol
You cant rob assassin, read the rules, also when someone is killed he/she is just killed and revel the card after warlord is play, after whole round
Wonderful show, very informative and entertaining.
Wow I really want to meet Erica.
warlord face = hilarious. "Uber canoe" lol
Kinda sad Erica didn't take the Assassin in that last round; Becca did kind of mention that initiative would decide it but oh well.
Getting better every time, but one note: that overhead camera is dark. Not sure what happened there.
48:40 The game does indeed get personal because of 3v1 attacks... that's Betrayal at House on the Hill for you... Whereas for Coup, ironically despite the more frequent attacks, they're all done in a free-for-all setting. I never found Coup antagonistic because attacking players are less personal.
I miss tabel top, what happened
Geek and Sundry pissed off Wil Wheaton by becoming corporate
Luchando64 dang
I read it had something to do with that little incident Wheaton had on twitter.
Like what
I would assume that there were multiple reasons stopped, including Wil Wheaton having a hard time with his own well being.
OK so this isn't a strategy video and it's great to see folks having fun with tabletop games... and I'd be amazed if the whiners whining about rules mistakes have ever played a 100% rules-perfect game on video ever... but...
...it would be really nice if the rules goofs could be annotated. Thanks x
they maybe didn't know it was a goof
and it's a video about watching them play, ok?! and the rules are perfect too. ok?!
The how-to-play sounds a lot like Machiavelli...? Does anyone know if it is a rebrand?
I just googled and yeah, Machiavelli is available under the name Citadels elsewhere
Did they all play this for the first time? I hate to be nitpicking but it's getting hard to watch
15:13 Becca could claim the King and take the crown after being assassinated as the crowned prince after the round
good show
when you place a card down for color you are you dont get the extra when placing the district card...
Wtf with that box? My older version of this game almost fits in my fucking pocket. 1980’s cd boxes all over again?
This is so oddly satisfying to watch. Even if the rules weren't completely adhered to.
The rule that allows you to remain the first player unless someone else takes the role of the king is stupid. Am I missing something?
Get someone to correct play as you make goofs please! It's really frustrating to watch the rules be forgotten during play. Play a practice round or something so people remember the rules. I want to like this series, but when Fishel forgot to discard one of the districts he drew, it literally won him the game.
Becca forgot to return her 1 card as well on previous round or round before that.
Love your hair Erica!
That Strong Bad reference just made me a permanent fan of this show.
Hey, Becca knows that Terence Trent D'Arby song
54:30. I wish my girlfriend gave me bonus points for finishing first.
One more error. It's Citadels from Asmodee, not Z-Man. There is no Z man on the box
quite a few rules broken, but still a fun watch
Lost opportunity 24:59: Can-uber
haha love the editor's drawing
I love thiiisss shhoowww. I’m gonna be so upset if it’s cancelled
40:29 everone? Who is that?
Is Wu Tang shirt the guy from Westworld
lol @ 13:14 you can tell Becca is pissed!
this is much more fancy than my cidadals game.
First to comment on the continued use of "Everone" in the graphics. Maybe I won a hidden contest ...
Really was hoping for B. Dave to start singing Rainbow's "Kill the King" on that first turn :D
You had me at Becca Scott. What was this game about again?
I appreciate the homestar runner reference.
Its Erika, not Erica oops
In the original game, if someone was assassinated, it wasn't called, and no one else would know until the end of the turn. Was this changed in the new version, or just a mistake?

that wu-tang shirt is great
where can you buy?
Aaah, you get the Crown if you take the king, even if you are assassinated.
46:10 Cheater. Didn't return 1 of cards
But the one with the crown knows the character of the first discarded card, right? Isn't it a privilege?
I miss will wheaton 😔
47:53 😆
Becca needs to hide her cards better 17:53
İf Assassin shot the King . assassin be new king. 22:00
Taking Warlord on the last turn? Sheesh what a blunder.
Erica should've chosen the assassin on the last turn.
"I knew you will kill the king. Oh shit, I am the king!"... That one statement makes your reviews very believable...
TableTop needs to be brought back to life....PLEASE!!!!
Will Stewart it's not coming back. If you complain enough maybe they'll get rid of this too and you'll have neither.
atlmyk I don’t regularly watch this I usually can’t get through the first 5 minutes. It wouldn’t bother ME much but I don’t complain much because I know others appreciate it. You are absolutely gorgeous.

cringy wrong ruling :(
...I miss Wil. He's a guy who plays games. This just feels like a show with a host. :\
SomeoneSneaky Game the Game has been on for years. Becca plays just as many games as Wil. And the level of complexity on this show is much higher than Tabletop. The only difference I see is one host is a woman.

She cute tho
Oh, wow, I somehow got here first. Neat!
Ads are a bit unfitting for a video that has little to no suspense or action. Neat game though, and I understand that ya gotta get that gold irl too :)
Yo wait, what happened to tabletop?
Also, I first played this game probably 6 years ago and boy does it look different.
Wil Wheaton quit after this was sold to a corporate.
Why no more table top? This is OK but not nearly as good as table top
Wil got pissed at them for trying to put Season 4 behind a pay wall.
Is that were season 4 is at?
Ugh... what's up with all of the messing up of the rules? Tabletop wouldn't have even aired that (Where are you Wil Wheaton???!!!)
Tabletop air many episodes with multiple errors. I'm not sure you watched the same show I did. I liked Tabletop as well, but seeing as how its over maybe people should stop complaining about it.
Bad choice on music man speed up isnt fun i had give u a dislike for 2 reasons. I want tabletop back All hail Will wheaton
