Thanks for doing these types of summary videos & your other more meta videos like the one about the games you did not finish. I often wish channels would reiterate over their content more. With UA-cam rewarding hyperbole and trend chasing, it is often difficult for me to feel out which games have actually been great and even more difficult to tell which aged well after their initial release. Even just consumed as entertainment, it just makes me feel strange sometimes that there is all this information produced that is never considered again, so the feeling that you keep this big picture overview of your gaming and content really relaxes a part of me that sometimes gets anxious about UA-cam. Tl,dr: Really appreciate this channel!
I think I've only finished Tekken 8 campaign this year 😅online games take too much of my gaming time, I think I'm very close to finish FFXVI as well but maybe not this year
60 games covered in 49m. That's less than one minute per game and yet somehow Mort manages to give both an overview of the nature of each title and the reasons why he personally did/didn't like in commendably coherent, entertaining and concise commentary. This video is IMHO an extraordinary feat of script writing.
I literally scrapped like 5 scripts after discovering Morts channel. I wanted to get back into youtube and straight up stopped haha CORRECT on the script writing on display here
You are extremely talented at reviewing games. Your ability to distill your thoughts in 15-30 seconds in this video is incredible. Your long form reviews are better than anyone else I have ever followed. We love it!
Yup, seeing Dragon Age that high, watching Dredge get dumped on just made me realize we are very different in what we think is a good game. No idea how two very dated Elder Scrolls games are better than Ghost of Tsushima either.
And that’s great that you guys have different tastes. That’s the beautiful thing about being an individual and the world of video games… If you listen to what he says in the beginning of the video, you probably wouldn’t have felt the need to comment such utter nonsense. That’s wonderful that you guys enjoy and dislike those games so much and have your own opinions. However, we’re here to listen to his list because he has 100% over 60 titles this year and want to hear why he picked what he did for his top games of 2024, not why you feel differently about it.
That is why I love video games, you think you've played/seen em all but here in your list I keep finding new intriguing titles, which I put in my wishlist
Kudos for putting together a video with everything you reviewed this year - especially in the mid tier there were some games I had simply missed this year that I’m going to take a look at now!
Started the year with Pillars 1 and will finish it with Pillars 2. Both are really good and the best games I played this year. Got Tyranny on the Winter Sale to play next.
@@Dwesk I understand where you're coming from as I also thought about that, i guess the way not to cheat the system is play it on Playstion and get a platinum trophy and post a video about how he can get the platinum and then do another video for the review. Tbh I dont believe him 100% but he got a good understanding about the games so thats good to me. Its the internet, what do you expect, people lie
I like these end-of-the-year overviews. In most cases, I'm not trying to play games on release anymore, so waiting for a video like this to pick stuff for next year and benefit from Steam's Winter Sale is awesome 😁 And man, you are a beast. Considering that in addition to all of those reviewed titles, you also play plenty of games for your "Check out" videos and demos during Next Fest makes it even more impressive, so hats off to you.
Thank you for adding another video that would help me flesh out the list of what I will buy for the sales. Your videos have helped me a lot in making informed decisions when getting games and my tastes being fairly close to yours is a bonus I am so happy to have.
As an older gamer, I have had issues to enjoy games this year due to heavy depression. So jumping into No Man's Sky again made it a bit easier for me. Also I have enjoyed Cities Skylines 2 and replay of Elden Ring.
Haven't played ff16 or Veilguard, but I have beaten Metaphor and while I like it well enough I feel it falls off hard towards the end, and the dungeons especially the side ones are incredibly bland and samey, game is fairly overrated imo
Completely agree brother it makes yours and the enemy health pools feel so realistic. too many games just make everything so tanky at higher difficulties it was such a breath of fresh air for GOTs approach to combat difficulty
Really appreciate how authentic of a reviewer you are and just give your opinion on every game based on how your experience was. I don’t have to agree with every opinion you have to respect you as a reviewer, I just need to know what your taste are and you are really consistent and not needlessly negative. Big fan keep up the growth and good work!
Thank you for doing this ranking, Mortismal. These are some of the most informative videos you make. I watch and rewatch these videos while trying to figure out what games are worth playing. RPGs aren't my thing, but after watching your videos, a number of RPGs that I didn't know existed might be worth the time investment. I really like that you are aware of your CRPG bias and rank other games with that bias in mind.
Your videos really turned me on to both Skald and especially Wrath of the Righteous. Skald I figured would be a hit I just needed a small push to confirm it. I actually picked up WOTR for incredibly cheap ages ago but fell off it pretty quick. Your videos really helped a lot to get me back into it and I've been absolutely marathoning it like nobody's business and even picked up the first season pass. Really enjoy your videos and hope next year is even better.
Even though i play less video games than ever, this is a channel i continue to watch most of the content for. Merry christmas mortem, have a great holiday season and new year!
I’m playing through Witcher three again, the things that are beginning to show their age are nothing compared with how great the game is on steam deck and in general.
Nice to see some love for Drova. I got that at the start of the steam winter sale and absolutely loving it. Highly recommend giving that a go. Also, love the Witcher 3 being number one. I been gaming since 84 and it has become my favourite game overall with Zelda a link to the past. Happy new year everyone!
Awesome video! Some things I disagree with, most things I agree with. Thanks for all the great gaming and putting me onto a bunch new games. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for another year of great content. I always take away so much from your reviews and you've introduced me to a whole range of games I wouldn't typically take a second look at. Hope you have a great New Year :)
You've easily become my go to review channel this past year, and it's refreshing to see a reviewer who sticks with his opinion and is very transparent about his preferences in games. Happy holidays and I hope you're enjoying a well earned break, Mort.
After playing Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 I wonder what you'd think of Fallout London as for me it was one of the best iteration of the series even so from a modding team.
Great list Mort. I'd probably also put Indy as my goty. Thanks for all the work you put in this year, and I hope you get to enjoy some time off. Merry Christmas! ⛄ 🎄
What another great year from your channel. I really like the diversion of games that you cover as it makes what the next 10 games you will review interesting. With you covering a game in full i know you at least beat it so you at least know front to back versus front to middle. I cant wait to see what games you will be reviewing in 2025. i beat 52 games this year for games that came out in 2024 ill say Metaphor Refantazio was everything i wanted and i even took 5 days off work for and somehow you still 100% before i finished it. Overall game Im going to cheat and say Trails in the Sky first and second chapter as their a duology but the story, gameplay and music was just so good i beated up to trails to azure now on a break. It was a good year in gaming lot of good indie games to help fill out the year
Happy holidays man! Thank you for this amazing year of content! Cant wait for all the amazing reviews coming in 2025, specially the craziness that will be february!
Love your list. Especially ranking oblivion at no.2 - this game's highs are so so good (Exploration, vibe and of course... Every faction questline + the daedric questlines) that they sincerely make the leveling system or the bugs almost an irrelevant negative factor for me. It just works 😂
While i don't agree with your list (Outlaws and Veilguard that high, Dredge and Boltgun that low) i still find value on it. Thanks for sharing it, finally i'll be buying Seven and going to be playing it. Happy new year!
I just finished watching and thanks for the amazing year in gaming, I didn't finish many games and I played less than I have other years but looking at my top played games I will say my top five games this year were Subnatica, Dragon Quest XI, Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate 3, and Solasta
I always thought that the combat side of The Witcher 3 was kind of lacking something, it never really evolved during the game, and it felt rather stale and impactless for me. It made sense, lorewise, that Geralt wouldnt deviate too much from the fight a Witcher would perform, but I still hope that Combat will be improved in The Witcher 4.
Agreed. I was really excited for Witcher 3 when it came out, but i played it right after Bloodborne. It was hard to go from my favorite combat system of all time to the Witcher. Bloodborne was so good that it ruined a lot of other games for me for a while
Thank you for a wonderful list. Haven't actually played all that much that was released this years (my backlog always seems to have near final say in my game choices) but I am playing and enjoying Indiana Jones. In any case have a good holiday and, as always, good vid
Hope you enjoyed your holidays. You brought up really appreciating unique games. I picked up kinitsu-gami as its on a small sale and while its definitely not the greatest game ive ever played, its certainly a unique game. Tower defense meets hack-n-slash. Its currently on a bundle sale with okami hd remaster which if you havent played okami, okami 2 was recently announced and its an absolutely amazing game.

I absolutely agree with this - there is a ton of room in the review space for reiteration and comparison, and Mort does it the best.
Thank you so much!
I think I finished less than 60 games in 30 years of gaming, not even close to 100%, and you did more in a year lol. What a legend
Well, to be fair most people don't have that kind of time.

Always looking for new games, so this a perfect showcase for me. Also, brilliant idea to cross-promote your full reviews.
