For Future AAA Games my theoretical recommended VRAM 1080p = Minimum 8GB - Recommended 12GB 1440p = Minimum 12GB - Recommended 16GB 2160p = Minimum 16GB - Recommended no idea i didn't bother with this resolution.
Pedantic point: the RX 580 is not generally faster than the RX 6500XT, in a PCI-E 4 system the opposite is true, however, the 6500XT suffers from issues with texture streaming and never allows you to turn textures up from low in any new game. With the RX 580 you get a few less frames, but you can get medium or even high textures without sacrificing performance and you won't have texture streaming issues due to low bandwidth.
I really like that you are also reviewing the used market. That helps a lot and for my part is a much more relevant aspect when buying "new" (for me) hardware :)
Nice video, I have same view and I think AMD cards are better buy overall. I know that you are making video about 2600k and Im wondering would 5600xt/5700xt be overkill for 2600k clocked at 4.5ghz in your opinion ?
I'd say it would be a good pair. You will get CPU bound depending on the games you play, settings you use and areas you hangout at, but overall you'll be fine, even with a 5700 XT, especially if you like to max out the settings and play at 1080p or higher.
Quick note : the 6700 XT does NOT perform similarly to the 3060 Ti it is noticeably FASTER in most games, it's more on par with the 3070 in terms of performance, daniel owens videos tend to be misleading since his game sample size is small and very inconsistent.
@@RATechYT most recent benchmarks shows the 6700xt outperforming the 3060ti significantly, except in nvidia sponsored titles where they are pretty much equal.
AMD release the 6700 xt to rival the 3070 but without updates on drivers 3060ti is on similar performance. Nvidia users takes on the 3060ti skill to adapt (they say 3060 has a machine learning to boost their performance on the future to be on pair with 4090 which i dont think is possible). I love the theory makers anyway. Great way to do sales.
I suggest the 5500XT 8GB under $150 tho, it beats the 580 and consumes less power. Its an x8 card unlike the 6500XT so it should be fine even with PCIe 3.0.
I got a used 5500 xt 8gb for 60 buck and the low power consumption is really nice. Threw it into an old rig, undervolted it and it's barely going past 80 watts at max load. Averages 70 watts.
Consider that for productivity a person can buy the best motherboard plus cpu of 20/40 and still needs to put a gpu (with not much money left) since 580 has decent vram...

No offense dude but the very first choice needs a LOT of caveats. The RX-580 SUCKS in gaming now, like you have to turn down settings so much it's just garbage. So if you are ONLY using it for gaming AND you have a MODERN system for which PCIe gen4 has been out for 4 years now, the 6500 XT is a better buy. While the wins in gaming are often small, the fact is it wins more often AND you can undervolt/OC RDNA 2 GPUs and get more out of them. I don't know WHY so many reviewers get caught up on the 4GB and PCIe gen4 X4. It's 1080p gaming, not 4K. You spit out the same statements that have always been said about the 6500 XT but the gaming performance is decent, unlike the RX-580. The RX-580 is no longer getting driver updates. SO new games? It's going to suck balls. Patches for games that need to be made in drivers? Nope. All done. Try actually doing work and looking at these things rather than spitting out the same crap everyone else does who also don't actually look at the products. Sorry, couldn't get past your first issue.
The Rx 580 is just a better card for older systems, which is the audience looking for sub $150 GPUs anyway. Even at 1080p, the Rx 6500 xt still get its performance kicked in the jaws because of it's reliance on PCIE 4.0. The performance drop is between 20-40%. Also, the Rx 580 still get driver supports. It came out in 2017, so it's fairly reasonable to assume it can go to 2026 (AMD's HD 7000 series got drivers support for 9 years). The 1 really compelling reason to get the 6500 xt though is the power consumption. It sips through like 1/2 the power of an Rx 580. Meaning less heat, and less electricity bill. So an Rx 580 will probably end up costing more in the long run compared to a 6500 xt. Personally though, I went with an Rx 5500 xt. It's basically an Rx 6500 xt that doesn't get crippled by PCIE 3 and below. It also eats half the power of an Rx 580. Got the card used for $60, threw it into an old PC I got for cheap that doesn't have a PCIE 4 and it's working wonders. It's sipping power away at 70-80 watt after under voltwatting when gaming lol.
People buying a $130 are most likely the ones to still have a PCI-e gen 3 system or older, which is why the 6500 XT is a bad option IMO. In fact, even with PCI-e gen 4 & at 1080p, there are games such as Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Rainbow Six, F1, Doom etc where the 6500 XT performs extremely poorly compared to RX 580, especially at mid to high settings. That's simply my take on it, you don't have to agree with it. Polaris is still receiving driver updates.

I've got a similar card to a 580 (1060 6gb) and it works pretty well on my new system. To keep costs on the build down I upgraded the cpu, mobo, ram and hd while leaving the rest alone (psu, case and video card). So far it can run most stuff on ultra at 1080p (highest my projector goes up to), but will test in on 1440 and 4k when I get a new monitor. It's definitely the bottle neck on my system, but I'd rather upgrade a few items every 4-5 years rather than upgrade the entire system all at once every 7-10 years.
@@RATechYT that's not what I meant, I meant exactly as I said: a used graphics card for 7-years should be considered almost worthless, a used and abused piece. Personally I wouldn't mind selling my GTX 1080 for less than $50 but it's still in use in another PC. But that's just one opinion.
